I'm configuring my home network and want to add speakers to different rooms. I'm considering using CastleOS as my controller software because I currently have a Ring doorbell and Nest thermostat and am interested in the Sonos speaker options.I know I can control the Sonos speakers by talking to them, and I can control the speakers through CastleOS, but can I control CastleOS (or another controller software like Home Assistant) by talking to the speakers, or are the onboard mics only capable of controlling the speakers?I'm looking for alternatives to buying a few Kinects to add voice commands to my home's CastleOS setup, and these Sonos speakers appear to be ideal in giving me multi-room voice recognition while also filling the sound system role, but only if they also let me give CastleOS commands, such as turning light switches on/off or setting the temperature.Thank You In Advance,
Hi there,I recently added a new AppleTV 4K to my home, during the set up process it requested I upgrade my HomeKit architecture (which I did). All iOS devices are running on 16.4 and the Ones are working through the Sonos app itself. All my speakers are plugged in through Ethernet.Since I have not been able to AirPlay to my two Sonos Ones. My Sonos Arc is unaffected.System Info:I tried factory reset as per as well as resetting / rebooting as perbut neither have resolved my issue.Where to from here?Thank you,
Can’t add my Sonos to Apple homekit. Searched all on the web and no solution works. Have tried everything i found. Is there any plan to solve this issue? Loosing my faith in Sonos soon if this not will be fixed imidiatly.
Hi, I have a problem with AirPlay. The system works correctly with the Sonos app but when I want to send something via airplay, the iPhone says it can not and the Mac to change the permissions to "Anyone on the same network". But I already have those permissions like that. What can be the solution?
I have a few home automations that start to play music on my Sonos devices. The problem is that between the start of the automation and Sonos starting to play to content (for sure when radio) there are a few seconds of delay.Start automation → communication to Sonos to start playing Radio A → few seconds → Sonos starts playingI would like, when the automation is triggered, give immediate feedback that the automation is triggered by for example sending a ping or a chime sound from the Sonos player. So the user knows that automation has successfully started. Start automation → communication to play (local) ping sound -> Sonos plays ping sound -> communication to Sonos to start playing Radio A → few seconds → Sonos starts playingIs this somehow possible via the API? Are there a few local Sonos sounds that can be used for this?
I’m running 2x Sonos devices from Mac and iPhone. Both have old operating systems. Everything was fine until the recent Sonos update. Now I can only run one device at a time from either iPhone or Mac, and am unable to tie the two together as a system. Any ideas how I can fix this without the expense of upgrading both Mac and iPhone.
Good morning,I have a question regarding integration with IFTTT about streaming URLWhen I start the action via smart botton the stream started correctly, but in a loop, when it ends, the audio stream starts all over again, instead of stopping. Is it possible to run the one-time and not repeat?best regardsMarco
Can’t you please change the ugly brown background color on the iOS app icon. Please!
I’ve scoured the community for an answer to this and all i see is the recommendation to check my smart tv and disable passwords (none are enabled) or to factory reset which i prefer not to do. Is there someplace in the sonos app or on iPhone settings i can control this? I don’t even see Airplay on my settings list in my iPhone 12. Thanks!
I have a google nest hub set up with the default speaker as my Sonos move, and the default music provider ass Spotify. Everything has been working great, except for sometimes when I ask google to play a specific song title, it will repeat the correct song but then play a completely different song not he speaker. I have spotify premium account set up on both google and Sonos. General playlist requests work for example “Play country music” but specific songs don’t. Any fix?
I have a sonos move and a google nest hub set up in the kitchen. Sonos move is set up to use sonos voice control so that I can verbally group it with the other sonos speakers in the house. I have a google nest hub that will play specific spotify songs I request, but it only plays on the google nest hub speaker. I would like to find a way to ask google to play a specific spotify song but have it play on the sonos move speaker. I set the sonos as the google homes default speaker but when i request a song it says “okay playing (this song) on the kitchen speaker. sorry spotify premium is not currently available” even though i have my spotify premium account set up and it works when the sonos is not the default speaker. Is there a way to play spotify music by asking the google nest hub, and then have it play on the sonos speaker?
hi,after update apple home to a new architecture (in ios16.2 or tvos) airplay on my beam stopped working, i tried to restart beam, iphone, apple tv and nothing, i tried it on my iphone, wifes iphone, imac and it is not working,do you know how to fix it pls?thankstomas
Hi all,I managed to correctly configure the voice assistant (Google or Alexa) during my first configuration but since I downgraded the Beam to S1 it no longer works. Alexa or Google hear what I say and answer that they start the music (on YouTube music or Amazon music) but nothing happens... I have configured everything correctly apparently, could you please help me?
Hello! I have 5 Sonos that are AirPlay enabled, including 2 amps. for these two amps, they are setup identically, they are stacked on top of each other, both hard wired direct to the network. 1 amp (and all my other Airplay speakers) work. But 1 amp gives the same error on any device (“unable to connect to “the pool”) ive power cycled, restarted the network, checked for updates, Turned WiFi on and off on that amp, Tried a half dozen iOS devices, Nothing I do will make the Sonos work. for this broken amp, no other symptoms, all music services work from the Sonos ap, but not from airplay or apple HomeKit. it did work at one point when I installed the amps initially, but not anymore. any tips? Thanks !
Hi!I am considering buying Sonos Roam to connect it through Smartthings. Unfortunately with all the recent changes in Smarthings environment I am not sure if I’ll even be able to connect it. So my question is:Is it possible to easily connect the Sonos Roam in Smartthings? Is it possible to activate certain build-in sounds on different actions? For example turn on the dogs barking sound when the motion on some sensor is detected. But I want to do it directly in Smartthings, without the need of any complex steps in Smartthings Groovy IDE etc.
I really want to get rid of my remaining Apple HomePods. However, a chief reason for keeping them is the ease of handing off anything in playing on my phone to the speaker. I can’t see anyway to do the same with Sonos. Am I missing something?
I have a Harmony remote. It controls all 'smart' gear and Sonos, but it's not fun to use. I think Sonos should enter and take over this market. There are no competitors that are significant. Please consider it!
I’ve recently bought Sonos Beam and I’m very impressed by the Sonos app and its built-in services – super easy for me and my family to start playing some fav radio station or music streaming. Anyway, I have a Homekit-based smart home (incl. Homebridge) with scenes and automations working smoothly together. I was sure I can easily integrate the speaker to this eco-system (since it’s added to Homekit using Airplay 2). But the thing is… it works nicely when playing something with Airplay – at that time I can pause the music easily from HK. But though I cannot integrate the speaker to be paused/stopped using the “Shut off” scene (which turns off all unnecessary devices when I’m leaving home or going to sleep). Basically, if I play something using Sonos app, the Sonos speaker is Home stays as turned off and says “not playing”.Is there any way to easily integrate the Sonos speakers with Homekit in a way that music played through the Sonos app can be paused/stopped? I saw a few Homebridge plu
How can you connect sonos play one to HomeKit?
I'm trying to setup Siri for my Sonos system.I found the instructions on the Sonos site, so went into the Home app on my iPhone and went to add an accessory. However, I can't find an option to add without scanning the product code.Well, I did somehow find the option once. It displayed a list containing my Sonos speakers. I selected one of them and it told me I needed a HomePod, which I don't have.I wasn't totally certain I'd picked the right thing, but now I can't find the option anywhere.I'm using iOS 16.2, and to make things more exciting I have VoiceOver enabled.Any ideas?
Will voice control work when playing music from a downloaded playlist on a iPD?
I used to have all my Sonos devices assigned to each room they lived in on the iOS Home App. I noticed after iOS updated devices showed up as “not supported” suddenly. I thought removing a re-adding them might correct the issue but any devices I removed will not re-add and error out with an AirPlay error pop-up “unable to connect to ‘speaker name’” anyone experience this and figure out how to resolve it? I tried resetting one of the Sonos devices back to factory defaults then attempting to add to the Home app but no success… thanks.
Recently upgraded homekit with the new architecture (iOS 16.2). I can no longer Airplay to several speakers, all of which are hardwired or on Sonosnet. The only two speakers I can Airplay to are a Move and a Roam. I tried removing and re-adding a speaker in homekit but I can’t re-add it. Also tried power cycling Sonos units, all the homekit hubs, and the router. Same thing. “Airplay - unable to connect”. Any ideas? I’ll try factory resetting a speaker tomorrow…
Do I need to Uninstall the app then re install?
