Can I set a static IP address on my Sonos components ?

Can SONOS systems play directly from a Mac iTunes without having to use the SONOS apps and update the SONOS music library via this app? The systems are connected to the same WIFi. If not, why not?

So here's the deal. I have 2 PLAY:5 (Gen 2) and have set it up in my living room in vertical orientation for listening to music, and have also connected the TV to one of the speaker using LINE-IN. The music listening is great, the TV part could do with some improvements, as all I am getting is STEREO sound. So, I will get a PLAYBASE, A SUB and 2 PLAY:1 to create the 5.1 surround system, and that will be my primary means of listening to TV. However, I also love my PLAY 5 for music, and would like to use the SUB to double up as part of the music experience. So what I would like to do is this: MUSIC Configuration: PLAY 5 + PLAY 5 + SUB TV: PLAYBASE + SUB + PLAY 1 + PLAY 1 Can I seamlessly setup the system so that the SUB automatically switches between the above configurations? Good evening, I am looking at buying a new tv stand and the one I am looking at has a rectangle compartment that is the perfect size for the playbar, aesthetically I think that this would look awesome, but I just want to know if it would affect the sound at all? I am not sure if it matters but I am also running a sub and 2 play 1's all connected to the sound bar. After previously posting about a streaming solution to enable Amazon Alexa voice control for my Sonos speakers I've discovered a much simpler solution that works. It requires a Mac, an Echo and an App! It literally takes two minutes to setup and you can play any Amazon Echo compatible music source to your Sonos speakers using your voice. Hope this helps others wanting to control their Sonos speakers with their Amazon Echo :)

I have a Denon receiver, 2 front speakers, a center speaker as well as the rear speakers and sub woofer. I'm trying to get away from having to run speaker wire to the receiver, as well as making it easier to connect with out the receiver. I don't have a dedicated Home Theatre room, just a living room. Is Sonos a good choice for home theatre? Thanks.

I'm building a new home theater in my basement with my existing playbar. Does anyone have experience putting It in a cabinet? How has it affected channel separation?

I bought a BenQ projector (http://www.amazon.com/BenQ-W1070-Theater-Projector-Silver/dp/B00A2T6X0K) and now need a sound system. The room is rectangular, ~ 18-feet by 12-feet. Directv and blu-ray at one end; projector nearly at the other, throwing the picture onto third wall. I'd like the sound to emanate from beneath the picture but i don't want to rip apart the ceilings/walls to hide wires. so wireless is appealing. Is the playbar right for this situation? can it work with a projector? can it work with a projector and DirecTV and a blu ray player? Do i also need a receiver? any advice much appreciated. :)

Hello has anybody used a playbar and 2 play 1's for a 5.0 home theatre without the sub? I say this as I want to extend but can't afford the sub, so I just want to know if anyone has used without sub and if it's any good? I mostly watch freeview tv and streaming services,I don't have sky or anything so will I get that surround affect, Dolby digital? Cheers

Hi All, I currently have a Playbar with two Play:1s and a Sonos sub in the living room. The Playbar does not fit in the room (it looks ugly), so we want to move it and buy a white Playbase instead. My question is will the Playbase be as good as the Playbar? We use a projector so there is no TV. I read some reviews that the Playbase has a hard treble which makes it more unsuitable than the Playbar. Is that true or is the sound quality the same? Thank you. JD

I already own a PLAY:1 and was wondering what the best combination of speakers (for a single room) would be for £500. In essence, whether it would be best to purchase another 2 PLAY:1s, or a PLAY:3 and another PLAY:1, or a PLAY:5. Thanks to all in advance!

Hey guys, I was on Facebook today and came across a pretty cool gizmo name Darlite. They have a Kickstarter page. My question is do you think Sonos will be coming out with this feature anytime soon. I could do without the lights that Darlight has. I just want to be able to play anything that is on my phone via my Sonos Speakers.

I’ve had a pair of Kef Ci130CR speakers running from a Connect Amp for a while now. They pair up brilliantly. I’d just added a pair of Kef Ci130QR speakers to a second Connect Amp, and it’s problematic. Randomly above 50% volume, and always above 80% the amp cuts out. - The CR speakers are 8ohm with a recommended amp of 10-80W - The QR ones are 6ohm with a recommended amp of 10-50W I guess the issue is that the Connect Amp is cutting out as at higher volumes it does not have enough power to push the QR speakers. Is that accurate? Any workarounds or do I need to source a new, higher output, amp (I do have a spare Connect lying around!). Thanks. Cheers, Ferg

When playing songs from Play Music, you can fast forward them no problem. Or jump to a certain time using the time line. But when doing the same using Play Music's Radio stations, you can't do any of that. Just go Next, upvote, and downvote.  Can you please add the missing functionality?

I am for using multiple devices for control (Ipad, android tablet, 2 android phones, and a laptop). New user here and I havve no idea how to stop the system (Play 3 with a bridge). I force closed the control app on the android phones and android tablet, shut down the laptop and simply closed the app on Ipad but it won't stop playing. I have to physically mute the Play 3 to not hear it but I'd rather stop broadcasting Pandora thru the Sonos app to the Play 3. How do I stop it from playing? Is there a way to close the app so it no longer tells tells the bridge and play 3 to play?

Do the play 5's (second gen) offer a higher quality surround sound experience than the play 1,s? I currently have the play 1's in a fairly large room and they're ....eh, ok but I was curious nonetheless. For music, the play 1's are more than enough with the sound bar and Sub, but I feel the surround can or should offer more. Thanks

Newbie here. My parents have Sonos system. Someone very smart set up a couple of speaker zones. (1) bedrooms, (2) patio (3) kitchen. Each of those selections will play between 1 and 5 speakers. I can "group" those selections and play in one, two or three "zones" simultaneously. I am unable to play to only one bedroom. I believe the system was set up with "connect". I'd like to remove the master bedroom speaker from the other bedroom speakers so I can play on that one ONLY. Any suggestions? Thank you in Advance! if I search my music library in Sonos with for example "The Fugees", then nothing comes up. But If I search with only "Fugees", then it lists the album by them. It then displays the metadata alongside the album as being by "The Fugees"! iTunes and even Mac OS finder easily find the album with a search for "The Fugees". It seems the use of the word "The" at the beginning of a search means the results are ignored. If the word "The" occurs anywhere other than at the beginning it works fine. Is this a bug?

I have the whole Sonos home theater at home and love it! I'm thinking about buying some additional speakers for the cabin where there in NO internet.... like none. Questions: Will a play 1 or 3 work without internet? If I set up on my home network and take it off site to another location can I manually plug my phone into it and use it as a Bluetooth speaker?

I have ordered a bang and olufsen A9 mkII and want to connect it to my sonos system, which connect system will I need and does the sonos connects come with cables?

Playbase specs say is can take TVs weighing up to 77 lbs; mine (78 in Samsung) weighs 87 lbs. Can the playbase take this weight?
