I know that you can press the mute button on top to prevent the mic listening in for privacy reasons but for using Play:One in kids' rooms where I simply don't want my kids to use the Alexa feature to ask for an endless string of knock knock jokes is there a way to disable it that's more permanent? Out of the box is Alexa enabled? Or is it only active (listening, responding, etc) if one logs into an Amazon account and links the Play:One to it, enables Alexa skills, etc. Those are things a kid can't do and so it would effectively disable the Alexa feature for my purposes. But if out of the box Alexa has some functionality then I suspect it's likely more of a distraction than we want in the rooms where they're theoretically doing homework. :-)

Hi, Will the amazon echo 2nd gen play music with the sonos speakers in harmony, I have a few sonos speakers already and am keen to get the echo for voice control on songs, I believe the echo will play music as it is but will it play along with the sonos, I'm asking this because I would like to get another small speaker for the kitchen, so rather than buying a sonos speaker and a echo dot seperatly, I could just get the new echo to do both the jobs?

I want to ask Alexa to play music through BOTH its own speaker and my Sonos speaker. It seems to only play through EITHER. Is there a way to play through both? The Sonos app doesn't seem to allow the Echo to be part of the group that the Sonos speaker is in.

Does anyone know if/when Alexa will be supported by SONOS? I've seen a lot of conversations about a public trial in 2017 but nothing specific about dates and official release. Can anyone confirm if this integration is actually going to happen?

Hi there. Help please. I have a Playbase, and 2 x Play 1 that have worked as a surround sound set, for months. The Play 1's have stopped working now. I have tried all the obvious stuff, volume, rebooting, removing and re-adding. I have created a stereo pair as one forum suggested and added them back in. The controller adds them back in to the playbase, and then on the final stage says "There was a problem preparing your speakers" I have tried another Sonos Play 1 with the same problem, I have reset all the speakers, and started from scratch, Help ... it's driving me mad, and I have a new episode of Stark trek discovery to watch !!! I'm aware that this has been raised many times already, but the more I read the more confused I get! ? I have a Panasonic DMP UB900 4K Blu ray player, connected via HDMI to an LG55B7 tv. Which in turn is connected via optical to my Playbase /sub/play 1s. Problem being the Panasonic doesn't convert DTS to 5.1, and Playbase doesn't do DTS audio. I think there are players from Samsung and Oppo that can do the conversion- perhaps some kind soul out there could confirm that-so if necessary I'll stick the Panasonic on EBay and get a new player, but is there another way around the problem? I can get stereo sound off the discs but that's a poor substitute for 5.1.

We have purchased a Play 1 for a home owner who wanted wireless audio in the bathroom. Our issues though are: 1) he refuses to use the Sonos app and 2) it turns out he mostly uses the YouTube app on an iPhone as a music source. After researching the forums thoroughly, I have come to understand that we could buy a Play 5 for him along with a Bluetooth receiver, put it in another room, and the audio could be sent to both the Play 5 and the Play 1 that way. What I need to understand before investing in another Sonos is speaker is whether (after the initial setup) the audio could be sent from the iPhone via Bluetooth without using the Sonos app at all: just turn on bluetooth, connect to the receiver and play audio from the phone. If that's the case, during the initial setup in the Sonos app I could select whether the audio is sent automatically to the Play 1, the Play 5 or both, right? And if I manage to convince him to learn how to use the app, he could use it to select which of the spe

Guys, I ordered a couple of Play1's from the Sonos website last week. Amazon then had a sale for Play1 two days ago so I ordered it from Amazon thinking I'll return the previous ones. When the Amazon ones arrived I noticed that the boxing is different and when I read the year manufactured it was 2015. On the previous ones it's 2017. Is there a difference in the hardware capability wise? I tried looking online but didn't find anything. I'm worried it might not support future integrations. The hardware number of the 2015's one is 1.20.1.6-1.

I use an Echo Dot in the same room as a Sonos Play:5. Obviously I don't want the Dot to also play the radio sound coming through Sonos when the Sonos is on, but if I turn down the Dot's volume then that volume is too low when the Dot speaks. Is there a way to separately turn up the Dot's volume when she speaks, but turn the it's volume off when she isn't?

How can I get Alexa to play a specific "station" from one of my services? Example would be asking Alexa to play "Easy Listening" on Stingray Music?

Just set it up today, after 3 hours it cut off. Rebooted, unplugged, nothing. Wired speakers still work (Connect Amp). Do I need a new AMP?

After the latest update, the volume on my play 5 has changed with my echo dot. It use to be too loud when the dot was turned up all the way, my line in was boosted to 10, and I was half way up on the sonos volume. Now the audio from the dot is noticeably quieter, and changes randomly, quieter, then back to set volume. Has anyone else had a similar issue here? Diagnostic 7926558 submitted.

I have one room with four speakers (all Play:1s) and a sub. Currently it's set up as two "rooms", with the Play:1s acting as two stereo pairs. Is there any way to use the sub with all four speakers?

Set up Play 1, enabled the skill. Of my 4 Echo devices it only works with Echo Show but not with Echo or Echo dot. Please help. Thanks

Have paired Alexa with my Sonos system. All seems to work well but now constantly have the light ring on the Alexa slowly flashing green. Anyone else have this? Would like to stop it. Amazon says it could be an incoming call but I donbt have that.

Being able to control Sonos via voice commands is convenient but not being able to play from my local library does limit the usefulness. Is there any way to add my library to one of these services easily and cheaply [ie free]?

I have 3 rooms that I like to group together. I did this in the Alexa app and called them "Everything". If I say "Alexa play Tom Petty on Everything" it plays Amazon music great but if I say "Alexa play Tom Petty radio from Pandora on Everything" it only plays on the Echo and not the Sonos.

After integration with Sonos, Alexa responds to commands and plays music. However, she no longer talks to me. No more riddles, no more weather reports, not more "Sleep tight". Please help.

I know that a 5.1 theater system needs to have a device plugged into your router. My router is located next to one of my Play 1s. Can I plug a Play 1 into the router with an Ethernet for a 5.1 surround sound system INSTEAD of plugging the Ethernet into the playbar.

I've a pair of Play 1s as part of a Playbase/sub home cinema set up and am planning to move them up to the bedroom and replace with the new Sonos1. The Play 1s will perch on the windowsill upstairs, so I'm wondering whether the new speakers will fit my existing Alphason stands. Hopefully they will!

How can I make TuneIn the default music service? Somehow my Sonos system has decided that Amazon is the default and I’d like to make it TuneIn radio. Any ideas?

Looking at the voice commands for Alexa and Sonos, it doesn't appear that I can "Alexa, play in the living room".

I have multiple cases where I say "Play TuneIn in the Kitchen" the Echo confirms saying something like "getting last station played.... Playing Today FM in the Kitchen" and then nothing happens. Have other people had this?
