I eagerly downloaded the new beta version 7 onto my iPhone this morning. But see no difference in how it plays Spotify. The settings 'About my Sonos System' says I am still on v6.4.8 which suggests the update has not worked. It went through the update and reconfiguration process on the iphone. I used the url in the email (to be used in cases where update fails) to download the dmg file to my phone but then it asks where I want to open it - Notes, Dropbox, iCloud with no option to open it on the phone. Can anyone please help me. Thanks in anticipation

Hi, I can see alot of posts about party mode but I can´t find instructions on where to find it? I got a Mark all under groups and this will break current groups and make one big group to play same music on all, is this is?

Anybody finding the latest iOS app is draining their iPhone battery? When I leave my house (and wifi network), the app is continuing to do something in the background. So, it is typically drawing 25% or more of my battery life over 24 hours. Lots of 'background activity.' This is a new issue -- within the last weeks. I have to remember to close -- not just put in the background -- the app when I leave my wifi network.

Hi guys, I'm new to the SONOS forum, looking at purchasing several speakers soon, however I'm just curious with how the SONOS will work. I currently own a mini Hi-FI system, the Sony CMT-G2BNiP. Ideally I'd like to purchase a Play:5 and perhaps two Play:1's, and connect them to my TV and set them up as a surround sound setup. I'm wondering if it's possible to keep my current Sony speakers, and add them to this system. My understanding is I would have to purchase the Connect:Amp to do this? Would appreciate any advice on achieving this setup, Cheers, Tom.

I have the Marantz NR 1605 and just got a Sonos Connect so I can stream through the surround sound speakers. I have tried using the Analog Out from the Connect into the CD analog slot. I have also connected the Digital Audio cable from the Connect to the Marantz. I have configured the Marantz (I think) so that the the Digital Audio is for the "CD" and also have the Analog 3 for the CD (which is supposed to be the default). Nothing seems to be working.

I'm interested in a Play1 but would prefer to have the speaker with an aux input so that it's more versatile. Is there a aux to Ethernet adapter that would allow me to plug aux input? A quick amazon search shows male aux to female Ethernet, so maybe with a few more adapters it could work.

My setup consists of an AT&T Uverse modem/router in downstairs bedroom, a Play 5 in next room over and a Sonos Connect upstairs and on the other side of the house. I frequently go long periods of time without having any network or dropout issues. But lately I have been having all kinds of problems. All of a sudden I can't browse my library, or one of my zones disappears, or songs drop out for no real reason and will do so repeatedly. Then all of a sudden it comes back on. Or just goes completely haywire and goes to the next track and plays 10 seconds before dropping out again and displaying the "insufficient buffer" error. I suspect that part of the problem might be the signal from AT&T. I pay for the 18 Mbps plan but am lucky to get 10-12. And this can drop down to the single digits during peak hours. This is the fastest plan available at my location and AT&T is the only game in town at the moment. So switching ISP is not an option. So I have tried various things like wiring in the

One radio station drops out periodically (out of country).  Is there any way to increase the buffer from (I assume) 2 seconds to (say) 3-4 seconds?  I appreciate the change would add lag when switching stations, but the existing buffer is inadequate for this one station. Internet speed is fine, most other stations are fine, all four speakers in the house experience it at the same time.  I could do some stupid cludge like buffer from the router, but it seems silly and inefficient.

Am trying to setup a system to go in a lobby - won't have a laptop or phone to control and no internet access. The hardware will be a connect w/o amp, 1 play:5 and 2 play:3. The music source will be line in via the play:5 and the play:3's will be grouped so music plays on all speakers. I've got just about everything figured out except how to have a speaker lose power and then reconnect to the group when power is restored? What am I missing?

I have an ATT Uverse cable box hooked up to my Samsung PN64D8000FF tv via an HDMI cable, a Playbar connected to the TV with the optical connection, and 2 Play:3s for surround sound. In the "About Sonos" menu it shows the "Audio In" as Stereo. I can't seem to get 5.1. When I go to the TV menu to select the Sound output, it is stuck on PCM and I can't select Dolby Digital. Any ideas on how to fix this? Thanks as always. -Tyler

I have currently one play5 gen1. What would be the best upgrade in terms of sound? 1. Replace my Play5 Gen1 with a new Play5 Gen2? or 2. Add a Sonos Sub to my Play5 Gen1? Thanks for your advice.

Hi folks - I have a 5 piece Sonos system in multiple rooms within our house. Wifi network is secure and working perfectly. Speakers are on separate breakers in a new house. Everything was great for almost a year then without warning, two Play 1s and a Play 3 stopped being recognized by the app on my phone. I've been through the set up process multiple times but the speakers are no longer being picked up and I'm getting a solid orange light (which suggests over heating... only they're cold... and it's November) Please help me wonderful community! Getting really frustrated as we have family staying for the holidays and one of the main reasons I got this system was for occasions like Thanksgiving! If it doesn't work soon then I'll get a refund and kit my house out with a competitor system... Thanks

As of this am (11/19/2016) my system is not working. I've rebooted routers, computers, phones etc. Reconnected my Sonos Boost and unplugged and plunged back in several of my speakers (over 10 in the house). Of course Sonos support is mon - fri. Anyone else experiencing connection problems?

Hi. I ordered a CONNECT:AMP to setup up a new room with my KRK Rokit6 powered speakers, and I think I might really need a CONNECT. The KRK speakers have RCA cables, and I'm not sure I can connect them to the CONNECT:AMP. If I can, would it require an RCA to Speaker Wire cable? Thanks, Bill

I'm looking to purchase a Turntable to play some of my old LP's and have come across the Audio Technica AT-LP5 which looks to get good reviews and was wondering what i would need to connect it to my current Sonos setup of Soundbar, Sub and 2 x Play 1's all connected with the Sonos Boost for my Wifi. I can see that Sonos have two options in the Connect and the Connect:Amp but would rather not buy the more expensive Connect:Amp if it will just as additional features that i don't need. hi there I tried to set up a pair of Play:1's and a single Play:3 in the same room (kitchen), but I didn't manage to do so. Is that even possible? Everytime I tried to add the Play:3 as a new player, it kept ending up in the old room it was in before. And just changing the rooms name of the play:3 to kitchen wouldn't work either.

I recently gifted a Play 1 to a friend. She told me that she was not very computer confident,so I installed in for her. She has a new iPhone, but her laptop is old (7 years). I attempted to install the Sonos controller on the laptop (windows XP) I downloaded and installed the Sonos app and attempted to hook up the play 1 speaker. However, the program didn’t “see” the speaker when I hit the stop & + button. I tried several times to no avail. I then tried to install the Sonos app on the iPhone, that took a while but was eventually successful. The app functioned fine. I wanted to give Sonos access to her music library, but her music was only on her laptop. After her iPhone installation, I again tried to install Sonos on her laptop. This time the laptop “found” the speaker immediately. But the music library settings was ‘grayed out’ and I am unable to get access to her music library. I just purchased the Play:1 to listen to music without turning my TV on. I use a Mac mini as an HTPC for all my media I was hoping this device would be able to use my iTunes library from my iPhone however I soon realized that the music needs to be stored on the iPhone. What good is this if my only choices are to cherry pick songs to store on my Phone for playback or running the risk of using all my phones space to store over 50,000 songs just to use this device. I hope I'm missing something and the community is able to help because at this point the speaker is useless. Sorry if I'm coming off vexed I'm just irritated. I was hoping after hardwiring (ethernet) the speaker I assumed I was able to play from my iTunes iOS app or at best be able to play ALL my music from iTunes without using every bit of space on my phone. The speaker is beautiful and is well made. I want to like it but maybe Bluetooth is the better option. Thank you for help in advance.

Sub placement

I'm new to the world of SONOS, so please bear with me. I purchased the soundbar, 2 One's and SUB to create the so-called 5.1. After readfing the forums i'm starting to understand that DTS is not possible without workarounds. I have an LG 4K TV that is set to output Dolby Digital, an optical cable straight from the TV to the soundbar. XBOX one. I have managed to get Star Wars BluRay to churn out 5.1 from the XBOX One which does sound awesome, but when I play my MKV's from my NAS via the XBOX one, they only play in stereo, or no sound at all. Has anyone managed to find a way around this. I think the MKV's maybe decoded to DTS. I have also tried via Kodi, but again only playing in Stereo or not at all. Any help is greatly appreciated

My SONOS set up includes 6 rooms (3 with stereo pairs) which also includes a CONNECT that is plugged directly into my router. I then run a line in to my TV to be able to listen to it on my SONOS system. (predominantly in the living room) A certain times the audio suffers the stuttering and drop outs when watching the TV (everything works perfectly when streaming music to any room) I have purchase a BOOST to sort this issue out once and for all, but I was wondering if anyone can let me if i need to plug both the BOOST & CONNECT into my router? Or does the BOOST go into the router and the CONNECT plugs into the BOOST.... thanks

Hi, earlier in the year I bought a Sonos PlayBar to go with my new new Panasonic TV. I was thinking of adding a couple of Play:1's as rear speakers but have a couple of questions. My PlayBar is connected to the router via Ethernet cable and to the TV using the optical connection. - The manual for the TV states the optical connection supports Dolby Digital so will the Play:1's work properly in that setup? - The I am assuming that the Play:1's will connect fine to the network, i.e. I do not need any additional kit like the CONNECT. I may get a SUB at a latter date but my lounge is not massive so I am not sure I need the SUB right now. Thanks Andy
