hey friends, I'm setting up a 5.1 in my living room with a Playbar as the primary in the front of the room with the TV. for my rear lefts and rights, I was going to get Play3s, but have heard that it's overkill, and better value to do Play1s since the rear speakers are more for ambient nose. would love to hear everybody's thoughts.

I have a ipod touch 4 that i want to use with the Sonos app and my itunes library as well as Spotify and Deezer.It deems the latest Sonos app i can use is 6.2.2 which I have installed.When trying to connect to an existing system I get a message informing me there is a problem and contact Sonos.Anyone know if I am trying to do something thats not possible ?

Hi. I've been on the fence regarding jumping into the Sonos ecosystem. I generally have apple products but have a couple google homes and a few(4) chrome cast audios to hack together whole house music. Controlling it through the google music/home app kinda sucks to be honest and doesn't pass the wife reliability test. I have at least 3 existing speaker systems that I need to drive separately from whatever smart(ish) speaker a system has but that should integrate for a whole house experience. In addition to that need 3(ish) separate speakers for Kitchen/Dining Room/Bedroom/ and 1 or 2 places more maybe(ish). I would lie if I said I wasn't waiting to see how HomePod shook out. Then my dad got me a Sonos 1 last week as a birthday gift. Its cool and I might take advantage of the $350 for 2 more Sonos One deal but here is my dilemma. Hi all, I'm a recent Sonos convert and have been extremely happy so far, adding a Play 5, Play 1, and now a Playbar + Sub. I've unfortunately had a horrific experience in trying to get the Playbar setup. My setup is as follows - Sony KDL-55W900A television, TiVo Roamio that utilizes over the air digital signals, Xbox One. The Roamio goes to the Xbox One, then the Xbox One to my television via HTML, then optical out to the Playbar. This television is one that specifically has Dolby Digital 5.1 pass through. I've spent 15+ hours on this and constantly scouring forums and looking for settings, but continue to have audio sync issues. The audio delay setting in the software does not solve this, only makes it worse. I've so far identified that it depends on the source - and sometimes different even in that source, and even do different variations of sync. Hi! I'm having some strange connectivity issues between my Echo Dot and my 3 sonos speakers, possibly involving spotify. Only some things play on some speakers at some times, and I can't figure out why. Here's what's happening: Echo Dot will accept commands to play named songs, bands, albums, or playlists from Amazon music OR Spotify music on my Sonos Connect. Echo Dot will accept commands to play "music" on my Play3 and Play:1 but will NOT accept commands to play named songs, bands, albums or playlists on either one of them. This is true whether I have Spotify set as default music service or Amazon music set as default music service. Example: If I say, "Alexa, play [bandname] on [Play:1], it will act as if I said "Alexa, play [bandname]" and just play on the dot. (yuck). But if I say, "Alexa, play music on [Play:1]", it will play an amazon music playlist that it picked for me on the sonos speaker. Why can Spotify play on Sonos Connect but not elsewhere? Is there support for using Alexa to play local Sonos playlists, or is support limited to the listed online services?

I have one Sonos Play:1 - I also have an Echo and a pair of Echo Dots. One Dot I have connected to a Bose speaker via an aux cable. The Echo has it's own, good(ish), speakers, and the Sonos is paired with the last Dot. The Sonos is connected to my Dot as per instructions. Works as designed. One supposes. I have an Alexa music group set up with all the Alexa devices. My group name is, an unimaginative, "Everywhere". So I say, "Alexa, play classical music Everywhere". And it does. The Echo plays, the Dot plays with the Bose aux attached, the other Dot just plays music. No Sonos connection. I understand that, in some fashion, this is an Amazon limitation on not being able to play to group attached Bluetooth devices. OK, can accept that. Kinda. But the Sonos, as best I can tell, has NO option for an aux cable, so no (known to me) mechanism to get around the Amazon problem. I tell Amazon Echo to play a station from my Pandora in a room and it will play only one song. When I open the app and hit the play button, nothing happens. When I hit the next button I get: “unable to play pandora service error” in a pop up window. I have sent Sonos tech reps diagnostic number and they still can’t figure out the problem. I’ve rebooted my modem, my Wi-Fi, my speakers and deleted and reinstalled my apps, along with signing out and re-signing in to my Pandora music service. I still have the same problem. Any ideas?

I just purchased a Sonos Playbase. I followed the directions for setup without success. Initially it would not connect to my wireless network so I moved the router adjacent to the box and hardwired it. The playbase downloaded an update and registered the product. Now it was time to connect to the TV. With the Optical cable connected, I had to disconnect the router so I could connect the cable to the Comcast TV box. (the router is supplied by Comcast and requires a coaxial connection). The playbase would not connect to the TV and now only shows a white light. I tried to perform a reset by unplugging power then plugging in while holding down the play/pause button with no change. At this point I do not know what to do. Sound and Vision really talked the playbase up. Any ideas on a path forward would be appreciated. Chris

It seems like an addiction is building up inside me. I can't stop myself thinking about adding new pieces to my sound ecosystem. So,I own a brand new Play 5 gen 2 and I wonder if adding a pair of Play 1s in the same room will create much and observable difference in listening experience and sound quality?

I have a projection TV at the back of the room with a Soundbar at the front (below the screen). I just picked up a AppleTV 4K and found out it doesn't have an optical audio out that would allow me to connect it to the Soundbar. Any ideas on how to connect?

I have gone into my Notification preferences panel and disabled Sonos per Auni's post here: https://en.community.sonos.com/controllers-software-228995/alerts-from-sonos-are-irritating-6757175 However, I am still getting Sonos notifications, which are coming through Chrome (?!). 1. Is there a way to access data about what you have played through Sonos? Like in itunes you can see the history of what you have played and each track has a count of plays. 2. And if so, is there a way to merge/add this to an itunes library? Ideally I'd like to maintain a combined count of how many times each track has been played across the two systems (itunes and Sonos). Downstairs in my family room I recently put together the following system - Playbar attached to my TV, and two Sonos Play1s as surround sound speakers (I'll be adding the Sub shortly). I also have an Echo Dot in the Family room that I use to voice control the system, as well as other Alexa functions. If I wanted to purchase the Sonos One (with Alexa built in) for my upstairs living room to use as a single speaker and another Alexa device, is it possible to have the same music playing throughout the whole house and have Alexa control it all by voice? I have a 9-node system using Wifi (no bridge). All nodes play fine, but with the latest PC controller, I've noticed that if I leave it idle for a while (e.g., pause music playout for 10 minutes or more) then come back and hit the play button, I get the error message on the first try. On the second try, it works fine. Tried resetting the controller, no luck. Advice?

Honestly, I'm so annoyed with Sonos customer support. I logged an issue a few weeks ago saying that I couldnt connect to my Sonos wifi speaker, and have still not had the issue resolved. I was dealing with an employee called Damian who just stopped emailing me when I asked to talk to his line manager - his emails were averaging at one a day (if even) and they weren't particularly helpful. When I begged him to resolve it before the weekend, it didnt seem to hasten his responses. So I logged a new issue with Sonos about a week ago and have still heard nothing. Atrocious. Why bother getting a wifi speaker if it is so temperamental. Bose offer a bluetooth connection which is so useful if there are problems connecting to wifi. This issue is STILL NOT RESOLVED and I've been without my music for a couple of months now. BAD. So my Sonos is connecting to the ethernet cable but when I detach it and try the wifi it wont connect using my phone or laptop. Im concerned because it's an old phone I

Is there a way to add all my songs on my iphone to the queue in one step? Browse to "on this phone" then a play all. Same question for the PC controller. I find it very frustrating to have to build a playlist.

How can I connect a Sonos Play:1 to my computer to use it as the default line out speaker?

My sonos system is set up fully, all white lights... But my app won't find them at all. I have the play base, 2 sonos 1s and a sub. Everytime I open the app it says to set up the system. I just recently unplugged and replugged the router, but everything else works fine.. Passwords the same and the speakers are still talking to each other and playing audio in surround from my Chromecast. Any ideas why I can't connect?

I have an Echo Dot connected to a Connect via analog in...and the Connect connected from analog out to my speakers via a Sonance amplifier. I'm finding that, since starting the Sonos skill, when I talk to Alexa, her volume out of my Sonos/speaker setup is at such a low volume that it is barely audible. This lasts for about 10-15 seconds, and then volume goes up to normal. I have the volume control on the Dot set a maximum and the Sonos volume set at a normal listening level. Before setting up the Sonos skill, the volume was always fine...right where I set it. Interestingly, if I immediately invoke "Alexa" after she starts speaking (like if I ask for the weather), when I can barely hear her, and tell her to turn up the volume, her output immediately goes to the normal audible volume. Also, once the Sonos music starts, volume is normal, based on my volume setting in the Sonos app. However, if I again invoke "Alexa", her volume is low again.

Can you hide a playlist? I made a Christmas playlist, but now the songs keep playing well beyond Christmas. On iTunes I simply uncheck the boxes for songs that I don't want to play. Somehow this doesn't register in my Sonos. Help. I also made a Sonos playlist of Christmas songs. Do I have to delete the entire thing until next year?
