Will the phantom center speaker, produced by the Sonos Amp, be of lower quality if the Amp is fed only a stereo input signal, compared to if the Amp is fed a true 5.1 surround input signal?

I have a playbar connected to my LG OLED 55" TV via optical connection. I would like to add rear surround speakers. I was considering a pair of Play1s for this purpose. However, since the Architectural in Ceiling speakers are now available would this be a good option? there are a pair of unused speakers from my house's original owner already in place in the ceiling so this would be an easy install. Questions: [list=1] [*] Dolby surround speakers are supposed to be 1 foot above ear level. Would using "ambient" speakers at ceiling level degrade the listening experience? [*]. I realize the Architectural in Ceiling speakers were intended to be used with the Sonos AMP. However, I have an unused Connect AMP. Would it be possible to use this unit, instead? if it is possible: would I loose performance or features by doing so? [*]Would I still need to run Ethernet cables to the Playbar and the Connect AMP? Hello, new to Sonos products. Just purchased a Playbar and Sub. Ive seen the 5.1 setups by adding two Sonos Ones. In place of the Ones, could I side Play 3 or Play 5 speakers to complete the 5.1? Anyone have any advantages/disadvantages of those in place? I’m not really concerned about the extra $ of the 3s and 5s.

i have two plays 1 and a beam setup and would like to hang the plays on the sofa sides. Do you have any recommendation for a sofa which is close to the wall? See picture. Hi all, I’m planning on moving my 2 x Play 1 speakers from behind my sofa to two different walls either side of the sofa. Is there a minimum/maximum height I should place the speakers to ensure I still get the same surround sound? Needs to be child proof too which is part of the reason for moving them. Thanks!

Hi Have a room less than 200 square feet I use for my man cave, have a bit of a noise problem in my community. Looking at the Playbase +2 Play:1 speakers for watching TV and listening to music, mostly watching TV. Is this a reasonable set up and will I able to use my[b][u] android[/u][/b] phone to configure to the room? Thanks in advance for any feedback. fjwag3

Have just downloaded the latest app update for both iPad and iPhone. The on my device is there on my iPad but not there on iPhone. I have deleted the app and re installed but it is not there.

Can one change "ALEXA Name" to "Computer" I'm able to change in echo dot but will not allow me on Sonos One Should of said [b]wake word[/b] to computer Thx Michel

I see sonos is not in google home control. But when I try to add it, it prompts me to log into my sonos account and it successfully logs in. But but at the end it fails to link with sonos. All devices on lates firmware update. And all controllers are updated.

Hi all, I'm having great difficulty with the alexa app. not finding it at all user friendly. I have a sonos one which is connected to my system in my lounge and working ok. I have a play one in my bedroom that I wish to connect an echo dot to. The dot is already signed into my Amazon account. I cannot find how to connect it to my play one as all help I have seen says to enable sonos skill and follow instructions. Sonos skill is already enable when I set up sonos one. How do I pair an echo dot with a play one. grateful for any help thank you

When I startup the Sonos app, it always shows some music playing, when actually there is no sound coming from the Play:1 speakers. I assume it is the last music I was playing on the speakers days or weeks ago. I then select a music playlist and click on Play or Shuffle and the music I just selected plays just fine. So how can I "STOP" the music from looking like something is playing on the Sonos app?....not just pause it?

One of our sonos play1s occasionally fades in and out of music when paired with the other sonos play1 and the sound bar. So when they are all playing together this happens. Please advise

I have 6 sonos:1 and a sonos:3. Suddenly one of the sonos:1's is no longer on my list as a speaker on desktop app or phone. Has a solid white light. When I unplug and wait 30 mins and plug back in, still solid white light. I tried the factory reset by holding the "play/pause" button while plugging in the speaker, but still just have a solid white light. What is the solution? Why wont it factory reset?

Dear Sonos mods, A similar question as I am about to ask was marked with ‘best answer’ without that actually giving answer to the question. Therefore, could you please answer the following with a simple ‘yes’ or ‘no’: I own various Sonos Ones and Beam, and I have a premium Spotify Family subscription. When I ask GA on the first Sonos One to play music and thereafter ask the second Sonos One or Beam to play other music, the music stops on the first Sonos One. Now the obvious question: IS IT POSSIBLE TO START PLAYING DIFFERENT MUSIC ON SECOND DEVICE WITHOUT INTERRUPTING PLAY ON FIRST DEVICE USING GA? If ‘yes’ - expected and great, but HOW?? If ‘no’ - can’t be true and WHY?? thanks for answering 😀

Ive just tried to change radio stations using assistant and now suddenly my speaker isn't available anymore eventhough it was just playing. This is just a recent example but there just seems to be endless issues and incomplete functionality with assistant. Nobody from Sonos is explaining what's happening or why we had to wait so long for something so bad.

Hi everyone, Whereabouts is the IR sensor physically located on the Beam? I'm trying to use IR to adjust the volume, but I hav to be within 3 feet of the Beam for the remote (any remote that I have configured) to work. I've been trying to use my Samsung Smart Remote, an Apple TV 4k remote and a Firestick 4k remote...all work (within 3 feet). I'm assuming that the range should be greater than that. thnx.

Biggest complaint I have with the Sonos One is that the Alexa wake beep and voice is usually way too loud since it appears to be tied to the speaker volume and can't be adjusted. Is the Alexa wake beep and voice on the Beam the same? Every time I same "Alexa" I get startled because the wake beep is always so loud.

Alexa works great on my Sonos One but was wondering will it connect to Ring Doorbell 2 and per the amazon echo etc and allow voice control. Anybody had issues or any tips would be great before I purchase it.

When in Settings > About My Sonos System > Playbar, Audio In changes between Dolby 2.0 and Dolby 5.1? Why is this? I have a Playbar, Sub and two 5's.

I have a playbar, three play 3's, a sub, and a play 5. I previously had alexa and sonos working well together until my play 5 failed (stopped communicating wirelessly). Sonos replaced the defective play 5, and when I added it to my system Alexa would not discover the new device (the rest worked fine). After I followed instructions from several different threads trying to check all of the basic things (no duplicate names, all user profile info is filled out accurately, etc) the next step was to disable and re-enable the sonos skill which is where I've hit a wall. Now Alexa and my sonos system no longer integrate. Sonos is otherwise fully functional and works fine with my other music services and TV. The sonos skill will not enable and tells me "You need to link speakers to myaddress@email.com before you can add this skill". Of course my speakers are already linked to the account because it's fully functional, but I still logged into my sonos account and confirmed the emai

Hi, As described in my title using my Beam Alexa will turn my TV on but if I ask her to turn the TV off she says 'OK' but the TV stays on. Commands I'm using are: "Alexa, turn the TV on" - this works "Alexa, turn the TV off" - does not work "Alexa, turn the living room TV off" - does not work The attached image shows how the TV is connected in my Alexa app. My TV is a Samsung UE50NU7400 Thanks for any help. Hello Sonos aficionados! I am the process of building a new home which will be completed this fall. The house is being prewired with 16-2 or plus Cat-6 to use with a Sonos setup. I have 6 independent zones planned: Kitchen (2 Sonance in ceiling speakers) 8 ohms ea., Screen porch: (2 Sonance in ceiling speakers) 8 ohms ea., Master Bedroom ((2 Sonance in ceiling speakers) 8 ohms ea., Master Bath: (2 Sonance in ceiling speakers) 8 ohms ea, Outdoor speakers: 2 in ground speakers 8 ohms ea. I will also have a dedicated Sonos Amp connected to its own A/V Receiver in the great room with 5.1 in ceiling speaker setup. I understand the limitations to the Sonos Amp and 5.1. I am only utilizing it for music when guests are visiting. In the basement I will have all the Sonos Amps ( or Sonos Connect depending on your suggestions) in a home run configuration in the mechanical room. Hello I have 2 sonos beams and a sonos one, all 3 are doung exact same thing. None are shuffling music, when i ask to shuffle songs it plays the same song to start with and doesnt shuffle. Also when i say next it dors nothing, when the song finishes nothing else plays afterwords. I activate shuffle mode by command and it acknowledges this but still nothing. I dont know what to do next. This is a bit complicated: I have tried several times to link my Sonos One speaker pair to Google Assistant. I’ve tried in a couple of different ways: From the SONOS App, and when that failed from my google home app. In both cases I eventually ran into a notification screen stating I need to register my speakers. As far as I remember my speakers are registered, and the app and speakers are working fine. I followed the directions that popped up, stating to go to account settings to register speakers, and that if I cannot I need to perform an update. I went to account settings and did not find a way to register my speakers, so I attempted an update but the app is already up to date.
