Dear Sonos mods, A similar question as I am about to ask was marked with ‘best answer’ without that actually giving answer to the question. Therefore, could you please answer the following with a simple ‘yes’ or ‘no’: I own various Sonos Ones and Beam, and I have a premium Spotify Family subscription. When I ask GA on the first Sonos One to play music and thereafter ask the second Sonos One or Beam to play other music, the music stops on the first Sonos One. Now the obvious question: IS IT POSSIBLE TO START PLAYING DIFFERENT MUSIC ON SECOND DEVICE WITHOUT INTERRUPTING PLAY ON FIRST DEVICE USING GA? If ‘yes’ - expected and great, but HOW?? If ‘no’ - can’t be true and WHY?? thanks for answering 😀

Ive just tried to change radio stations using assistant and now suddenly my speaker isn't available anymore eventhough it was just playing. This is just a recent example but there just seems to be endless issues and incomplete functionality with assistant. Nobody from Sonos is explaining what's happening or why we had to wait so long for something so bad.

Hi everyone, Whereabouts is the IR sensor physically located on the Beam? I'm trying to use IR to adjust the volume, but I hav to be within 3 feet of the Beam for the remote (any remote that I have configured) to work. I've been trying to use my Samsung Smart Remote, an Apple TV 4k remote and a Firestick 4k remote...all work (within 3 feet). I'm assuming that the range should be greater than that. thnx.

Biggest complaint I have with the Sonos One is that the Alexa wake beep and voice is usually way too loud since it appears to be tied to the speaker volume and can't be adjusted. Is the Alexa wake beep and voice on the Beam the same? Every time I same "Alexa" I get startled because the wake beep is always so loud.

Alexa works great on my Sonos One but was wondering will it connect to Ring Doorbell 2 and per the amazon echo etc and allow voice control. Anybody had issues or any tips would be great before I purchase it.

When in Settings > About My Sonos System > Playbar, Audio In changes between Dolby 2.0 and Dolby 5.1? Why is this? I have a Playbar, Sub and two 5's.

I have a playbar, three play 3's, a sub, and a play 5. I previously had alexa and sonos working well together until my play 5 failed (stopped communicating wirelessly). Sonos replaced the defective play 5, and when I added it to my system Alexa would not discover the new device (the rest worked fine). After I followed instructions from several different threads trying to check all of the basic things (no duplicate names, all user profile info is filled out accurately, etc) the next step was to disable and re-enable the sonos skill which is where I've hit a wall. Now Alexa and my sonos system no longer integrate. Sonos is otherwise fully functional and works fine with my other music services and TV. The sonos skill will not enable and tells me "You need to link speakers to myaddress@email.com before you can add this skill". Hi, As described in my title using my Beam Alexa will turn my TV on but if I ask her to turn the TV off she says 'OK' but the TV stays on. Commands I'm using are: "Alexa, turn the TV on" - this works "Alexa, turn the TV off" - does not work "Alexa, turn the living room TV off" - does not work The attached image shows how the TV is connected in my Alexa app. My TV is a Samsung UE50NU7400 Thanks for any help. Hello Sonos aficionados! I am the process of building a new home which will be completed this fall. The house is being prewired with 16-2 or plus Cat-6 to use with a Sonos setup. I have 6 independent zones planned: Kitchen (2 Sonance in ceiling speakers) 8 ohms ea., Screen porch: (2 Sonance in ceiling speakers) 8 ohms ea., Master Bedroom ((2 Sonance in ceiling speakers) 8 ohms ea., Master Bath: (2 Sonance in ceiling speakers) 8 ohms ea, Outdoor speakers: 2 in ground speakers 8 ohms ea. I will also have a dedicated Sonos Amp connected to its own A/V Receiver in the great room with 5.1 in ceiling speaker setup. I understand the limitations to the Sonos Amp and 5.1. I am only utilizing it for music when guests are visiting. In the basement I will have all the Sonos Amps ( or Sonos Connect depending on your suggestions) in a home run configuration in the mechanical room. Hello I have 2 sonos beams and a sonos one, all 3 are doung exact same thing. None are shuffling music, when i ask to shuffle songs it plays the same song to start with and doesnt shuffle. Also when i say next it dors nothing, when the song finishes nothing else plays afterwords. I activate shuffle mode by command and it acknowledges this but still nothing. I dont know what to do next. This is a bit complicated: I have tried several times to link my Sonos One speaker pair to Google Assistant. I’ve tried in a couple of different ways: From the SONOS App, and when that failed from my google home app. In both cases I eventually ran into a notification screen stating I need to register my speakers. As far as I remember my speakers are registered, and the app and speakers are working fine. I followed the directions that popped up, stating to go to account settings to register speakers, and that if I cannot I need to perform an update. I went to account settings and did not find a way to register my speakers, so I attempted an update but the app is already up to date.

Hi. I currently have a generation one play5 and play1. They are in different rooms but are grouped. I am looking to replace the play1 with an Amazon Alexa enabled generation 2 play 1. Will I still be able to group the two so they play as a pair? Don’t want to buy it and then find out that they cannot work together.

Hi Sonos. I've had a pair of Play:5 gen. 2 for a month or so and it has been working flawlessly as stereo speakers in my living room. However, tonight all of a sudden the right side speaker didn't play - it did earlier this morning. Thus, I "dis-paired" the speakers and tried to set up the right side player again. Which failed. So I reset it to factory default. Then it seemed like it was working properly: The light flashed green. So I went on to set up the Play:5 Gen 2 as a new speaker: I went to settings, tapped add player, logged in, made sure the player was powered (still green light flashing), selected Play5 Gen 2 from the drop down menu, pressed the connect button, heard the sound, and then.. instead of turning white the player's light turned orange (at first flashing with some red flashing occasionally, and eventually SOLID ORANGE). I have been using a number of amazon echos for the past few years. Currently I'm planning a major renovation and want to integrate sonos into the new home setup. I plan to have ceiling speakers in kitchen/diner and living room with a beam and a playbase in another room. My questions are around the integration with Alexa. in order for this to be a success, it needs to work for everyone i n the family, not just me, the techie. If I have ceiling speakers connected to a sonos amp, I need an alexa device to control them. Are there benefits to using a sonos one over an echo dot or echo show? Can I control the volume for the entire room from the sonos one or the echo dot by pressing the physical buttons, or do I have to use voice commands? When I speak to the echo dot, will alexa respond through the echo dot speaker, or the 'room' speakers (sonos+echo)? Thanks!

Currently using a Play 1 as my single wired speaker but was wondering if it would be better performance wise to set up a boost instead? The Play1 links to the other Play1 and Play5 via Sonos net. Just not sure if the guts of the boost would be the same as what's inside the Play1 or better?

Is there a way to control Sonos room groupings via assistant? Understood you can’t group google groups with Sonos groups. In my case I am strictly interested in controlling Sonos groups. I have common groupings id like to configure. Instead of setting them up manually I’d love a way of setting these groups up on command

When I ask Alexa to play music on my Sonos one, it says “Playing Elton John (for example) on Spotify. Sorry that device is offline” but it isn’t...I can play Spotify from the Sonos app but not via Alexa. It’s worked fine up until today and I’ve changed nothing. Any ideas?

I currently have a PlayBar, Sub, and 2 Play1s configured in surround mode. I am moving to a new home soon that has 4 ceiling mounted speakers that seem to terminate in a built-in cabinet below where the TV will be mounted. I'm wondering how to best utilize those speakers in a new configuration. Should I get a new Sonos Amp to drive those and let them "replace" the Play1s (if that can even be configured that way)? Could the Sonos Amp live in a cabinet without any problems with heat? I'd appreciate any advice the community can provide. Tony

I just got three Sonos One's and setup them up. Each one is in a different room and will be controlled independently. I tested out trying to use Alexa to start playing from Spotify. I discovered that you can only have one Sonos One playing from Spotify at any given time. The only option I found to be able to play three independent streams was to start the music from the Sonos App. Is there anyway to use Alexa to start three independent streams? Without that, there really is no point having the Sonos Ones. This feels extremely limited since I can only have one stream on at a time when using Alexa.

I would like to store my music library on the Fire 7 tablet. Can I then use this to link my Sonos app to the music library? I currently have a PC but I would like to replace it with something that takes less space!

I’m hoping someone can give me some advice. I recently purchased 4 Tic GS5 speakers and 1 Tic GS50 sub, that I plan to power with a Sonos Amp. The Sonos Amp is 125w/Ch at 8 Ohms with 2 Channels. I have a Boost installed, it created a network which I was able to see it and connect to it through my mobile devices. I am no longer able to see the boost network although the Boost is properly connected. Also, there an option in the app to activate this network I also no longer see the option.
