Does anyone have the above set up and listen to a lot of music through it?  I want to set up a 5:1 home cinema system but I am hoping that it will also work well for listening to music. Doing this will allow me to ditch the traditional hi-fi in the room and free up space. As well as streaming from Spotify, I would probably link in my turntable & CD player as well through a Port. How well does it perform as a music player and can it crank out a high volume without distortion?   Thanks

I’m looking to purchase a Sonos Port to replace my old Connect. I’d read that because of the heat of bricking old components Sonos had allowed people to upgrade with the 30% discount and keep the old equipment.   Have a use for the old Connect in an other room, so hoping not to create more E-Waste, even if it will lose support in May.   The website still seems to state it will be useless after the 21 days?   David

Hi All,  After some conflicting information I’m looking for some guidance.   Essentially I had planned 2 purchase: 2 x In Wall Sonos Speakers & AMP to power 2 x Sonos One 1 x Sub   I’d planned to set these up as a Surround Sound System, with the In Wall Speakers creating the Phantom Centre Channel, and the 2 x Sonos Ones being the rear left and right.   Apparently this can’t be done?   I don’t want to purchase a Beam or Playbar as the TV currently sits on a chimney breast and the wall is flush without plug sockets. I haven’t opted for the ceiling speakers either as I want a speaker as part of the surround sound setup to have Alexa built in I can group.   Any assistance before I go spending a few 1000 is great.   Thanks,   Adam  

I have been putting this off for quite some time, so please excuse my ignorance since I have’t looked into this at all. I received the email for the Trade-Up offer and apparently I have three Connects and one Play 5 that will not be compatible with S2.  I know that I will still be able to use everything the way that it is now, or use the Play One’s and Play 3 that I have that will be compatible with S2.  and keep others on S1. The question I have is what features will S2 add that I would end up losing if I stayed with S1?  I’m just trying to justify the cost of replacing three connects.  Any advice would be appreciated.

Am I right in understanding it that the Trade Up Policy has changed so that you can keep using your ‘unsupported’ speakers for as long as you want post ‘trading up’?

Hi guys, I was hoping you could help me out with placing my speakers. I have got: Playbar 2 Play 5’s Sub The room I want to put them in is 9 meters long by 8 meters wide (about 26 by 30 feet) and is further fully open with a high pointed roof. I could place the speakers over the entire length of the room on a railing at a height of 2.5 meters (8 feet) At the moment, all speakers are on top of the railing for the mirrors that I have at the end of the room at about 2 meters (7 feet) height (except the subwoofer that is on the left on the ground) I will ad a drawing of the current situation. My question is: What do you guys think is the best spot to place each speaker to get the best possible sound in the entire room?  

I prefer the appearance of the Sub in black, but I noticed some older threads about the first generation sub’s black gloss finish getting easily scratched. Any thoughts as to whether the black or white finish will show materially less wear over time (3+ years)?

When I ask Alexa to play music on Move, it plays it on another Sonos device in another room instead.  Any ideas why?

Hi    Like everyone else I am spending more time at home. Currently I have two play one speakers in the kitchen in stereo. I am pleased! However - the kitchen is next to the garden and I am contemplating getting a Sonos move. It makes sense to have the move in the kitchen next to the garden.    While the stereo separation is pleasant my main ‘want’ is room filling sound for the kitchen. I’ll move the Ones to my office and the play 5 to my bedroom. And then have one move in the kitchen.    So - how good and how much oomph will I get out of one move vs two play one speakers?   Or I could just get another play 5 and ‘crank it’ it in the kitchen if I want to listen outside.    Thank you!  

When my perfectly fine Play 5 gets bricked, will it still function as a "dumb" speaker?

Hi all I have a 5.1 set up with a Samsung TV. Sonos beam, sub and two sonos ones. The system works well with music however, when playing the TV there is no sound from the two sonos one surrounds I have one of the sonos ones connected to my router as it would not set up totally wirelessly when I recently moved house and got a new internet connection. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks Janish

After streaming music I ask google to “switch to TV” to return to TV sound. Google tells me that she can not help with that. Anyone having same issue and does anyone know the correct command or a solution?

I already have a record deck connected to my connect amp. Can I also connect a CD player and still choose between devices via the software?

Hi,   I have had dropouts when I stream content to my Playbar since the end of October. I have my Playbar setup as a home theatre with a sub and two Sonos One. I also have 4 more Sonos One speakers in different rooms. The dropouts only happen on the home theatre. I have never had a dropouts with the other speakers.    I spent 3 hours on the phone with Sonos Support trying different options: Playbar wired to the routeur, changing channel of the SonosNet, changing the output format of my TV, etc. Nothing work. They asked to move the Playbar in another room because the support agent thought it was cause by interference. It worked but for me it doesn’t make sense that it was cause by interference.    When I moved the Playbar in another room, I unplugged the optical cable. I figured out that the problem is when the optical cable from the TV is plugged to the Playbar. I put back the Playbar where it was (below the TV) without plugging the optical cable and then, no dropouts. The problem is r

Hi, I have a Sonos One set up on a standard Comcast XFinity wifi connection. I am unable to see the Sonos One as an option via AirPlay. Sonos One was purchased fall of 2019 new from Best Buy. I have a 2013 and a 2017 MacBook Pro, both of which I would like to use to connect to Sonos One via Airplay. The software on all devices is up to date (Sonos firmware, Sonos software and operating system software). My first thought was that my devices weren’t compatible but I just bought the Sonos One and it’s listed as a compatible devices on your site. When I go into the Music app and click the AirPlay icon only my computer shows up. Many thanks!!

I know one can create a group of Sonos speakers within the Sonos app. What I am hoping to do is to create groups of speakers (Sonos and Google Home / Mini devices) using the Google Home app. I can see the Sonos speakers in the Google Home App as visible devices, but I can not seem to include any Sonos speaker as part of the groups. Am I missing something or is this not a possibility? If not, any plans to revise this? The Sonos integration with the Google Voice system is great, but if the voice commands work to play on "Whole House"... I would love for it to include my top of the line Sonos speakers. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

hi all, i have a mix of wired and wireless units around the house inside and out. The colours on the matrix change often with sometimes red showing but the system works without dropouts.  As you can see on the screenshot there are several undefined devices. i have several root bridges, not all devices have the noise floor info and OFDM info also. I have my managed switch with STP on, but this setting makes no difference to the squares showing that the STP is forwarding, this is the same state with the STP turned on or off on my switch. I've also made sure all devices have their IP listed in the DHCP table of my router so they get the same IP every time. looking for some help thank you  

I am getting a “network problem” error message when I try to do a Trueplay tune on any of the Sonos devices on my system.  I’ve submitted a diagnostic - the number is: 961276926 Here is the error messge: Any ideas what the problem is? Thanks.  

I have been connected for days at a time, even able to start the music, but if I want to change the station on Pandora, Sonos claims that it’s lost the connection. I bought a Boost, thinking it might help, but that’s done absolutely nothing to help. I have two Sonos One speakers which I did pair for stereo, then split them again when we want to use them in separate rooms, but it’s been split for days. I’ll reset the network connection on my iPhone and it’ll come back allowing me to change the station, but going in just minutes later on a perfectly functioning network, Sonos again claims that its lost the connection to Pandora.  This has become frustrating beyond belief.

Hi all, I have a very nice 5.1 full sonos SetUp; 4x Sonos OneSL + PlayBar + Sub Listening to TV is great with the central sound coming from the PlayBar under the TV Experience with Music is not good because we can not TurnOff the PlayBar without having off also the Surround….. How can I set-up my installation to listen music only with the OneSL+Sub WITOUT the PlayBar ?( way too much presence of the PlayBar) Thanks to all !!

Just would like to know if I can enjoy sound from my SONOS system with a Bluetooth headphones by connecting a Bluetooth transmitter like Sennheiser BT-T100 (with digital input) with SONOS Port’s digital out?

I use my Amp to allow me to use my Monitor Audio Bronze 2 Stereo speakers. I have now ordered a Sub which I want to use with this set up but have a concern. Will it integrate and perform the way it should? ie. will the Sub take the bass sounds 'away' from the MABs, deliver enhanced bass and allow them to deliver 'better' mids and highs?

I have just purchased the beam, two sonos ones as surround sound and it makes a massive difference to my TV experience so far BUT   My TV is a samsung smart tv and when I insert media, movie or via USB. I have two options of sound mode PCM and DOLBY DIGITAL   Which is best to get the best surround sound for my system

Hi there, I may be way off base here, so apologies in advance, but I couldn’t find a clear answer anywhere. I have an older Play:3 (and some other stuff, but the rest doesn’t really matter for now) that does not work with Airplay 2. I also have a record player. As such, I was considering getting a Port to connect my record player to my audio system., but have a few assumptions/questions:   I understand that the Port supports Airplay 2. I understand the Port will connect my record player to my existing system. I assume the Port will work with the Play:3, and therefore my record player will work with the Play:3. If my understandings and assumption above are correct, then will I be able to use Airplay 2 from my iPhone (let’s assume in Spotify), play via Port, and then choose the Play:3 to play music through, effectively giving the Play:3 Airplay 2 support? Again, apologies if I’m missing something. I hope I’m right, but reckon I’m probably wrong here :)
