What type of cord do I need to connect my Sonos Move to the router... what type of cord connection goes into the Move

The Move can only connect via Wi-fi, there is no Ethernet port.

That explains why sonos tells me to hook up to my new router through an ethernet connection to Move in order to get the system to play again!!!  I find their instructions extremely lacking… there is a slot in the back of the Move and the router will take a USB connection

The USB-C port is only a charging connector.  What is the issue that you are trying to fix?

New router and the app is directing me to connect directly to the new router to fix the connection

The easiest way is to amend your new router SSID and password to be the same as your old router.  All your devices will connect straight away.
