Just added the SUB to my 5.1 setup (playbar + SUB + play:1 x 2). The sub is spectacular- tight, deep, just perfect. But I'm beginning to feel that the playbar is the weakest link. Firstly, I've got volume at 75% and it is not very loud. Is there any way to turn the gain up on the playbar? Any tricks to retuning to get it louder? Overall, I feel it isn't as pronounced as I'd like it both with music and HT. The surrounds are on just a bit higher than midpoint (~60%) and I'm just not feeling the presence from the front three channels. Any ideas?

Hi, perhaps an obvious question..but I have just bought the Sonos Sub to go with my Playbar and two rearPlay 1s to complete my tv setup. Now I want to test the system- what in your opinion should be THE film to watch and get the best depth and surround experience from? Thanks in advance. Paul

I bought a playbar, before the playbase came out. The playbar sits on a big flat wooden chest in front of wall mounted TV - looks and sounds fine - better than the TV's speakers (Sony ~40" nothing special) - but honestly not a "wow!" audio experience... I now read that the playbar was actually meant to be wall mounted with the TV... OK good to know... I can remount the TV higher and get playbase on wall underneath it, but its a non-trivial undertaking and I fear it may look a little odd. So my questions to the community are: 1) How big an improvement can be expected from moving playbar from the chest it sits on to the wall behind it? Am I silly not to move it or is it a marginal improvement that's not worth the effort? Looking for that "wow!" audio experience from the playbar. 2) How big an improvement is the Sub when added to playbar system - and for extra credit - when the playbar is on a chest vs a wall mount.... I just saw an "Update" symbol in my controller which was running 7.4.1. This version fixed a DD5.1 drop out issue. So I ran the new upgrade and now I see the controller version has changed back to 7.4. Does this mean I'm going to have DD5.1 issues again and have to run only PCM?

Hello Sonos experts! I am looking to enhance my home theatre setup with with either a Playbar or a Playbase. My 40 inch TV is mounted in the wall of an alcove with a fairly long reach cantilever arm so we can swing the TV out and into the room when viewing. There is a shelf above the TV and and a unit below the TV. The unit plinth sticks out in the room approx 8 cm. I plan to place the playbar or playbase on the unit currently. All seems fine and dandy right? Problems I foresee are that to one side of the device there will be a small wall where the bay window is and that will probably block some of the sound. Maybe Trueplay tuning will help here. The main problem is that we currently pull the TV out of the alcove and angle it in into the room when viewing so that everyone can see it clearly. I worry that the sound will hit the back of the TV when we do this. I believe my options are as follows ** Playbar ** 1. Lay playbar flat and and as close to t

I'm having Lip Sync issues with my Playbase + 2x Sonos 1 connect to my Sky Q 2tb in UHD on the Football or F1. I cannot for the life get the lip sync in at all as cannot go minus on the Playbase settings or on the Sky box as need to go to a -0ms. I have Samsung QE65C8+the above and adjusted the sync on tv too. This only happens generally in UHD. Any thoughts?

Are Sanus and Flexson the two best options for speaker stands? I'd only need one (white) to use in a side room on the side of a couch to stream music. Thoughts? Thanks everyone in advance!

I currently own a Samsung UN75MU8000F and have my Playbar, Connect:Amp, and two Play:1s set up in my family room. The Playbar + Play:1's are set up as a "surround sound" set up on sonos system. When playing normal TV, my surround sound works perfectly (aka all three speakers play sound). However, the moment I turn on one of my TV Apps from the smart TV's menu (i.e., Netflix, HBO, Amazon), no sound whatsoever comes out of any of my sonos speakers. At the moment the only way I can watch those apps with sound is to switch to using my actual "tv speakers" rather than the Audio Out / Optical option (i.e., the output that plays my sonos speakers). Any idea what would cause this issue specifically when switching to using my TV apps / how to fix is? Worth noting that before I installed the Play:1's and set up "surround sound" I had no issues with any of this...my plabar worked just fine no matter if I was watching regular TV or using HBO / Netflix / Amazon, etc. Any help would be

hi forum, I have a special setup in my living room as my TV (and playbar) is mounted on a sidewall, and only pulled out when watching TV. so in TV mode, I want my full surround config with PLAYBAR, a SUB and two PLAY:1s. but when listening to music, I only want the SUB and PLAY:1s to play and not the PLAYBAR, is that somehow possible? thanks!

In order to wall mount my playbar I need a really short power cable. I'm unable to find one that fits the playbar even though it uses a standard 'figure eight' input. The figure eight sits deep in the play bar so the shorter cables i've found don't fit properly. Sonos have previously pointed me to Flexson branded cables, but they don't sell anything short with a US end. Has anyone found a power cable that works with the playbar that is 1ft or 2ft long?

I posted this on the setup page, but probably belongs here: So, I didn't realize until today that the new Xbox One S will be able to play ultra HD discs I'm addition to streaming 4k content. So it appears to me that this console is now the answer for all of Sonos surround sound woes, as the Xbox one can decode DTS signal and output as DD5.1, it appears there is now one device that can stream all 4k content in DD5.1 through the sonos home theater system, as well as play 4k discs. Am I missing anything, or does anyone have thoughts on this? Considering trading in my Xbox one and roku 4 and just using this simple set up from here on out!

Is it advisable or common to mount a PlayBar just above a Wall Mounted TV? I have a cabinet below that has "Stuff" on it all the time and I'm concerned the sound would be compromised.

Hi, I am new to this forum and wanted to get your thoughts on this issue please. I recently purchased a PLAYBAR and also have a PLAY1. Its all set up correctly and grouped together and PLAYBAR is connected to my Sony TV. The TV remote is configured too. Also the Sound settings in TV is set to "Audio Source" Problem is that even though i reduce the sound using the TV remote the PLAYBAR and PLAY 1 still keeps playing the TV sound. The display in the TV shows sound reducing to 0......., but in fact it doesn't. So then I have to reduce the volume using the Controller from my iphone. Can you let me know, what do I need to do, so that the TV remote can be used to control sound of the Playbar independent of the Controller App. Thanks

Howdy, - Samsung TV UN50MU630D - DirecTV mini Genie - AppleTV - Sonos: 2, 5.1's Playbar Sub - The TV is 2 months old - 7.4 Sonos - In DirecTV Audio Settings I have Dolby Digital set to On. - In the TV I have HDMI Input Audio set to Bitstream, Digital Output Audio set to Dolby Digital - Optical cable plugged into the Soundbar and the TV. - HDMI from DirecTV to the TV - HDMI from Apple TV to the TV When I brought the TV home, didn't notice any problems. A couple weeks ago I started noticing sound problems, all on DirecTV. When we'd switch channels, sound wouldn't work. When we'd change channels, sound wouldn't come on for a minute or two. One time it happened I unplugged the optical cable from the soundbar, plugged it back in and sound worked. Tonight I recorded John Oliver on HBO, the recording didn't have sound. But I when switched to the TV speakers, sound played. So the recording definitely recorded right. When I switched to AppleTV the sound was fine.

I have both a Project turntable and a Samsung smart tv connected into a playbar via a optical audio switch. Have to manually turn the switch, but it works well. Also have a sub paired with playbar for TV. Can I add two play 3s as both the surrounds for TV AND a stereo pair for the turntable?

I have a 2017 4K Samsung 75" inch television installed last week by geek squad. The TV sound output is channeled from TV to Samsung OneConnect using ARC cable (I believe). The optical cable carries the sound output from the OneConnect switch to the Sonos Soundbar. Sound works great for other streaming apps, xbox etc. However, when I stream youtube content on the youtube app in my television, the sound does not play always reliably. Sometimes it plays well and sometime it does not. I am aware that one can't stream youtube from phone on sonos, but that I am simply directing youtube playing on smartTV into playbar and 5.1 set up (2 play 1s and a sub). How can I fix this problem? Given it is happening only with the youtube app, I am wondering if there is a setting that I need to account for?

Hi I initially had the LG OLED C7 tv and a Sonos Sound Bar which worked well together. I was given two Play 1 speakers as a wedding present. The speakers work together except when I'm watching TV because no sound comes out of them. Is anyone able to help? Thanks Ryan

I have just added a playbase to my TV today, and therefore disconnected the internal loudspeakers in the TV as required, and everything works just fine, except I can't hear any sound no more, when I want to watch a film on my blu-ray. Can I some how get the sound out through the Sonos Playbase, or must I turn the internal loudspeakers back on, each time I want to watch a film on my Blu-ray??? Can anyone help me with this/give me an answer? Thank You In Advance.

I have a very slight audio lag with my sound bar, but it is really driving me crazy. I have had the Vizio M55-D0 for about 6 months, never thought about sound synch issues when I first got it; sound from he TV was lackluster, but okay. I got the Sonos Playbar last month. Something seemed a little off with the sound, but I would have been hard pressed to tell you which way at first. After a week I decided something was certainly off. Found the sound delay option on Sonos, but that made the problem worse. Turns out the sound is slightly behind the picture through the Playbar. Double checked the Sonos Playbar setting and the TV setting to turn sound lag down to zero. When I turn the TV speakers on, there is definitely a noticeable echo between the Playbar and TV. Playing around, I switched the optical cable from (i) outputting from my TV to the Playbar to (ii) outputting from my 4k Receiver to the Playbar, and the audio lag seems to almost entirely drop away. I just purchased 2 Play 1's, a Sub and a PlayBase. I have connected the system successfully to my Sony TV, brand new also. Unfortunately, I am not getting Dolby 5.1 surround sound. I verified this on my Sonos App by looking at "Settings" and then "About My Sonos" which shows an "Audio In" note regarding my PlayBase that indicates "Stereo" not "Dolby Digital 5.1". But also the 2 Play 1's are not working. They connected fine, but there is no sound from them. I am not very technical, so cannot really troubleshoot anymore. Diagnostics 7822627 if anyone can help?

Hello, been using my Playbar for a a few days now and it's excellent!. One thing that would be handy though is "Source Lock" function, where the sorce you select in the app is always active. As it stands I can't have TV autoplay active due to it picking up signals when my son changes Xbox games. I turn the Playbar to TV on a night but for some reason it always changes back to Radio overnight, kids then complain they can't hear the TV in the morning. Either a button to dissable auto switching completely, or "Lock to TV" wod be very handy!. Cheers!.

Hi. I have been browsing the community for a fair bit now, and I am still curious about the Play 1s connectivity to the TV. As i got a Play 1 already and want to upgrade to another + a Playbar, I wanted to know if I would be able to hear my TV through the Play 1s by connecting them with the Playbar? or do I need to buy a seperate Connect for my Play 1's to work with my TV?

Hello! We have purchased many Sonos products while living in the EU. We are moving back to the US soon, can we buy replacement cords for the units that have detachable cords? can we just use a plug adaptor for the rest? We have Play:5's, the small ones, the playbar, the bridge... Would be great if we can confirm we can use it all in the US. We love our Sonos! Thank you!
