Hello, I recently bought a 4th Gen apple TV after having the 3rd Gen for years. I did not know at the time that they dropped the optical from the new model and now I am not able to connect my playbar to my new Apple TV. I have the playbar, sub and 2 x play 1's for Netflix movies etc but I am not now able to use, I can only use for TV sound. I currently have the Apple TV connected to my TV (an old pioneer plasma) via HDMI and then my TV connected to my playbar via optical. Can someone please assists in the best advice to get sound from my new Apple TV to my sonos system?

Kitchen—1 Sonos One Speaker. Living Room – (Set up as Surround Sound for TV) 1 Sonos Beam under the TV 2 Sonos One speakers at the back of the room. 1 Sonos Sub at the back of the room. Everything is working peachy. Well, they do drop from time to time. I have changed the wireless router channel, but no better. But…… I just saw an amazing deal for a Play 5 Gen 2 and I purchased it and will have it in two weeks. How in the world should I use this Play 5 Gen 2? My living room setup above is set up for Surround Sound for TV, even though I watch less than 1 hour a month. My main focus is just listening to music through Alexa using Pandora or Amazon music. I'm pretty vanilla. What should I do with this new extra Play 5? Can it be grouped into the living room for watching movies with the two play ones, sub, and beam? When I play music in the living room, would it sound better with all that together, if it works? Or should I move a play one from the kitchen to an empty

Hi there! so i have my beam (and two Sonos One) setup as my computer speaker and sounds AWESOME. I used the included hdmi to optical right into the optical out on the mobo. Switched sourced to digital out on my computer and bam, works great. HOWEVER, I also have a gaming headset where I want to switch audio to every now and then. 1) if i want computer audio to come out of the beam, I have to go into sonos desktop app, choose TV, and then play TV. Kind of annoying and no way to "automate" it or make a macro since isn't a hotkey to make that switch 2) then for some reason, it has issues ever switching back to my headset. even when i stop audio through digital output and choose my headset, sometimes it keeps playing! anyone have Beam and computer experience and how to switch between scenarios? 1) Beam playing computer audio 2) Computer outputting to my headset (no beam involvement) 3) beam streaming from my sonos

need to setup Sonos Beam to work with my Samsung smart TV to allow Beam to control my TV. I went to my Samsung Smart TV, connected Sonos Beam, Chose Anynet+ and asked to discover new devices. The TV found Sonos Beam, but when open the device list to choose one to be enabled by Anynet+, Sonos Beam is not in the device list. I did the same with Fire tv and I selected fire tv in the device list. I unplugged Sonos beam, turned off the TV and started from the beginning. Same result - Sonos beam is not in the device list of Anynet+ after it discovered devices. Any help?

I have the following setup: playbar, sub, and 2 Sonos ones. The system was working fine and then stopped working completely. The playbar stopped working and would not reconnect. Worked with Crutchfiled tech support, but still could not fix. The system is brand new and thus they are sending me a new playbar. I unplugged the playbar for a day and then today tried to set it up again. I was successful setting it up and adding the sub and the surrounds, but the only thing generating sound is the playbar. I have a bridge connected to my router. It doesn’t matter whether I am playing music or the TV - only sound is the playbar.

I am new to the Sonos ecosystem. I decided to jump on the bandwagon following the Apple release of Airplay 2, and the purchase of several HomePods. I liked it that integration so much that I decided to replace my wired 2 Home Theaters with Sonos Beams and various Integrated speakers and subs. I have just purchased the first ensemble for our smaller viewing room, and plan to purchase a second larger system in the next few months for our Movie Room. When programming our Harmony Remote I went to look for a way to activate/toggle Speech Enhancement and Night Sound, to find it is NOT available in Harmony's list of available command options. In researching, I discovered where, for quite some time now, there have been numerous like requests for this functionality for the PlayBar and Playbase. I've ordered a Beam as it is seems perfect for my requirements. My TV is on a wall mount bracket above a fireplace. I would like to hang the Beam below my TV as there is no wall below the TV to use the Beam mounts (they are all for wall mounting). Does anyone know if the Sanus Playbar TV mount would work ( https://www.sonos.com/en-gb/shop/sanus-playbar-tv-mount.html ) or if not whether there is currently an alternative, many thanks

I have read as many of the relevant posts here but can't find an answer to my problem. Any help appreciated. When I installed my Beam in August it worked perfectly with my Sky Q remote until a few weeks a go. I have changed the batteries in the remote moved closer to the Beam etc. etc. but just cannot get to to work again.

It says Stereo in the Sonos app, even though it says 5.1 on the PS4. Why?

As of a couple days ago I no longer have sound from my Playbar with Hulu and Google but Amazon is fine. Please advise.

I just bought a Beam and my Lg model number 49LJ5100-UC Does not appear to have hdmi arc input slot or the optical selections. I bought this for Christmas and have no idea what to do next. How can I get this set up?

If I have been using my Beam for non-TV listening, such as music streaming, then stop the music stream with Alexa before turning on my TV, it usually doesn’t starting playing the TV audio. I can’t see the option in App, and the Alexa command doesn’t always work. Why doesn’t the Beam auto-detect the TV has started sending audio (over hdmi)? Something a firmware tweak could fix? Or is there a setting I’m missing? This is causing a lot of confusion and frustration in my household right now, with my wife and daughter no demanding they stop having to use the Beam when I am not around to fix the problems!

I've just bought a new telly LG OLED 55 B7 to use with the Playbar that I bought last year but could never use as the old telly apparently wasn't compatible. Astonishingly the Playbar still doesn't work with this brand new telly!! I don't understand why it works perfectly with music from my mobile but there's no sound at all when I'm watching TV programmes. How do I fix this?

Hello, Is there any way of connecting the beam to a TV with no optical or HDMI ARC connections? The only other connections on the tv are component. Are there any specific adaptors that may work? Thanks in advance

Hello. I'm thinking about having two PLAY:5 as stereo par with sub at my summer house. I don't have TV (yet) but when I add a TV I will probably have a Playbar so I can connect the sound to my system. The question is, can I have the two PLAY:5 as front speakers with the Playbar as a center speaker or will that not work? I mainly will use the system for music but I would like to have the possibility to watch TV with good sound quality. Regards, Johann

I try to create this configuration: Room name: "Living Room" 1 x Sonos Beam 4 x Sonos Play:1, preferably in surround configuration. my controller is on an Android phone. The main problem that I run into is that I cannot add more that two Play:1 speakers in the same room with Beam (when trying to add more speakers, I don't have the "Living Room" room available in the drop down list on the controller, which forces me to add speakers to another room.)

How to finish setup an Apple TV remote with sonos if in has no mute button?

Is it possible to pair the beam (in tv audio mode) with a single Play:1 for "semi-surround"? I don't need a second speaker for actual surround, I just want a play:1 near the couch, to enrich sound and make dialog a bit clearer/closer. Thanks! Hi! I have read numerous posts about people having problems with sonos and getting the surround system all setup but no solution have worked for me. I have a Sonos playbar, the sub and two play 1. The Tv i have is a Philips 55PUS7150/12. All hdmi ports are marked ARC. From what I understand the tv should be able to do the conversions of audio and hdmi to optical audio and what not. What i've had is the playbar connected to the tv and my PC and PS4 pro connected to the tv with hdmi cables. PS4 pro problems: So what i did in the ps4 sound settings having "Primary output port" to "HDMI OUT" and changing "Audio Format (Priority)" to "Bitstream (dolby)". Before this the sonos app said in the "about sonos" that it only recieved stereo, but after this it stated dolby digital 5.1 in the sonos app. However in practice it wasn't. I've tried playing "test 5.1" videos on the ps4 youtube app with no success (though some people claim the youtube app isn't 5.1 compatible). I've also tried p

I have a Sony Bravia Android TV, a Sonos Playbase 5.1 System with Sub & 2 Play 1's connected via a Flexson HDMI Switch. The optical cable is connected to the Flexson and into the Playbase. I have a single HDMI cable connected to the Flexson HDMI out into HDMI 1 on my Sony TV. A BT Set Top Box is connected to HDMI input 1 on the Flexson and TV is set tp use Audio System in the settings, This gives 5.1 Dolby Digital from the Sonos fine. I have an Xbox one connected to the Flexson HDMI input 2, that also works fine through the Sonos, What does not work is Android Apps installed on the TV such as Netflix, Amazon Video etc... I have connected an HDMI Arc cable into the HDMI 4/Arc port on the TV and into the Flexson HDMI input 3, there is an ARC button so when I press that and choose HDMI switch 3, a message appears on the TV saying that an Audio System has been connected. If there is no sound then make sure you connect HDMI 4/Arc, there is no sound and the message will not disappear. If

The PLAYBAR has the autoplay mode that will remove it from the group when audio from the TV is detected. After you are done watching TV and want to return to listening to music through All Sonos devices, you "must" manually add the PLAYBAR back to the group for audio playback. Why couldn't this be automated? If the TV is not on, the Playbar should be automatically grouped back to the previous group, as it was before you started watching TV. Maybe, a "default" setting that it can return to automatically.

Hi all - Just got the PlayBase and it is great for music and for all my TV needs running from my Roku (via an HDMI out and to the PlayBase over optical.) Imagine my surprise to learn that it wouldn't be this easy for Blu-ray and DVD! (They really keep that part hush-hush when they try to sell you these things at the store.) Anyway, my understanding is that my Blu-ray player, the Samsung BD-P3600 (which, admittedly, is about 9 years old), can not output audio into the necessary Dolby Digital. As such, the PlayBase just goes mute and my TV reverts to its interior speakers. Question: If I were to get another optical cable and a splitter and went direct from my Blu-ray to the Sonos for audio (keeping the HDMI for picture) would this solve the problem? Or do I need to bite the bullet and purchase a newer Blu-ray player that can make the audio conversion on its own? (And if this is the case, can I set that as default, or will I need to make an adjustment with each disc?)

I just purchased a Beam (I haven't picked it up yet), but I realized that I don't have an HDMI ARC on my TV. I do have an optical out on my Toshiba. But I have read that I won't be able to control the volume of the TV through the Beam because I don't have ARC. Is there an adapter I can purchase to get that functionality?

Connected Beam but cannot turn audio on tV off

Lets say i listen to a radio station thru the BEAM and controlled with my iphone. Then i turn on my tv connected with HDMI - ARC with the Beam. I assume the beam will switch to the tv source. Then i turn my TV off. If i press play on the beam later in the day, will the tv come on or will i continue with the radio station that was tuned before i watched tv? Basically does the beam remember what it was doing before and after the tv was on?
