Controllers and Music services

Years ago, I copied all my CDs to a USB thumb drive.  If I look at it with Windows Explorer it shows the usual genre folders (Classical, Rock, etc).  And within genre folders are Album folders, and MP3s for tracks within those.  If I make a copy of that USB drive and plug it into the USB socket in the car it works fine.  I assume all this genre/album/track/artist/composer/etc must have come from metadata on the CDs since I don’t have to do anything to have it work in the car.In the house I have an Addonics NAS40ESU NAS drive into which I plug said USB drive and set it up as my Sonos S1 music library.  Used to work fine, but perhaps with transitions to new PCs, OS’s (now W11), ISPs, & routers, it quit, and the CA Addonics support line has gone away.  So, since the desktop PC is on 24/7, I plugged the USB drive into it, and replaced my Music Library.  That worked for a while, but again, the configurations have changed and now NG.  On the PC S1 Sonos app I can see and select rooms, al

Hello - My issue is Spotify, through the Sonos app, will NOT recognize any of my personal library content. I have multiple playlists created in Spotify app on my laptop...but when I open Spotify in Sonos, you can see my library/playlists/songs/artists, but everything is shaded out and will not play when clicked on. I have experimented by creating playlists in the other apps in Sonos such as YouTube Music (plays fine/sees all my songs), even created a few Sonos Play lists (it sees my songs also and they play perfectly). I am pretty knowledgeable with these issues, I have gone through the Spotify settings over & over and even re-authorized Spotify several times - nothing works. When I use Spotify app on my laptop with Roam in Bluetooth mode - where I have created my playlists from my library -  NOT THROUGH SONOS APP - it operates perfect. Hello, I have two Sonos Ones and one Sonos One SL. The two Sonos Ones are setup as a stereo pair. Overall everything works great except one small and infuriating problem. When I open the Sonos app on my phone (Samsung Galaxy S10+) my husbands phone (Samsung Galaxy S22) and my son’s phone (Samsung Galaxy S10+) can no longer connect to any Sonos speakers. They get the message that the phone can’t “find the network”. If we go through the process of getting their phones to find and recognize the Sonos speakers then my phone no longer is connected and I have the same message. We have not changed the wifi network/router recently. The Sonos speaker are all online and work fine. It just seems that if my phone is able to connect my husband and son’s phones can’t and visa versa.  We have checked all the settings on the phones, they have the same app version, same network settings, same wifi network connection, same android OS version, same everything. Cannot share USB audio files with SONOS v2 systemModel: TP-Link Archer C8  Hardware Version: V3Firmware Version: 1.1.3 Build 20220510 rel.32759(5553)The USB drive plugged into the Archer C8 shows it is active in the Archer C8 advanced USB settings.  All files are shared with no login required.The network address is:  \\192.168.1.1\sda1\USB_MusicWindows explorer can find the music files OK and can play them,  but the SONOS v2 system cannot access the music library.Sonos initially connects to the USB drive at the network address entered, but gives the error message below after about 10 seconds.I have worked extensively with SONOS customer support, but they were unable to resolve this problem.  SONOS suspects a problem with the TP-Link Archer C8's implementation of SMB1 and/or SMB2 protocols.I have tried sharing the USB drive with and without user login and password, but neither works.I just updated this router to the latest version firmware, but that did not resolve this problem.Any sugg

Hi,Yesterday my Spotify just stoped working on my Sonos system.Im having a AMP (black one) and its been working since I set it up.Sonos app is playing the “Sonos playlists” but when I play start play from spotifythere is no sound. I have tried restarted the network, amp etc but nothing helped.Using a TP Link Deco X60Is there anyone else having this issue?

I had problems getting my Playbar and Sonos One onto my wifi network. I had just installed a mesh network but hadn’t switched off the wireless from my router. I then had two networks running with the same SSID. After four very frustrating hours of failing to get these speakers onto the network, I called my ISP who ran some remote diagnostics to inform me that there was nothing wrong with my router or my network.I then called SONOS support. We spent an hour and a half trying to get it to work. I have some audio books as mp3 in my local library that have a rather big difference in volume between some tracks.In example the third track of the audiobook is noticably more quiet than the second and third. So much, that i need to adjust the volume to listen to it.This problem seems to be only present while listening through the Sonos system. When i play the same files on my windos computer (built in Groove App or VLC) or via various apps on my iPhone the tracks are at a comparable volume to one another.I tried fixing this with MP3Gain program by changing the metadata (REPLAYGAIN_TRACK_GAIN Tag) but before my changes this is compareble with the other tracks. When i change the tag and increse the volume to this one track it is indeed louder when i play it in Sonos, but it also gets louder in all other mentiond replay devices/apps too.Does anyone have an idea, why Sonos seems to behave different to all other playback devices/apps and how to fix this?

What’s going on between Sonos and Apple?I am once again unable to update the Sonos app on my MacBook Pro running Ventura 13.1. Sonos says an update is available, but when I try I get an “unable to update, try again later” window. This first happened about a month ago, and I was able to update by downloading Version 14.19 from Sonos. Now the problem seems to exist again.Yesterday, when grappling with this, I received another notification from Sonos that I was no longer connected to Apple Music. This also happened about a month ago. Reconnecting is easy to do, and I have done it again, but what’s going on?I have satisfactorily used my Sonos Play 5 and two Play 1’s with all my apple devices (MacBook, iPad, iPhone) reliably for the past five years without these problems, until recently. Hi, I have a Sonos system set up throughout my home  and have had no issues the entire time I’ve had it but over the last couple of months have been experiencing some really annoying issues with it. I have updated all the system and app. I have had the broadband, router and wifi checked and tested and all working fine.The issue I’m having is massive lagging of sound when connecting multiple speakers, literally 5-10 second delay of all eventually syncing to be all on at once then randomly odd speakers dropping completely out then re connecting.I’m also experiencing if I have a playlist playing and leave it to go to next track the sound is fine but if I want to skip to the next track midway through a track everything drops out, some speakers continue to play the track I’m trying to skip whilst others start to play the next track (again all out of sync) eventually all catching up. Everything has been running through wifi and I’ve also tried connecting one or two via Ethernet to eliminate

Tidal: random airplay disconnections, deezer: unable to cast from the app itself… why in 2023, the only app who really works well with sonos is Spotify? 👎

I have recently updated my system to run on Sonos 2 controller and have the apps for phone and iPad but I cannot find the latest controller for the Mac in the App Store. can anyone help or point me in the right direction 

I have my music library on a Network Attached Storage Device (QNAP) as a shared drive on my home network which is also remotely replicated to another property I have. However Sonos regularly loses the access to the drive. The drive mapping is still configured in my sonos manage music section, the connection is wired so it is not a wifi issue, but my Sonos app (Phone and Desktop, S2) tells me I have no music. I then have to remap the drive in Sonos settings for it to rebuild the index and library.  Simply rebuilding the Index does not work. Any advice would be appreciated 

Hi, I have reset my Android phone (Samsung S10+ with Android 12) and now Play store tells me my phone is not compatible with the S1 app. Yet it was working fine before I reset my phone.App store allows me to download S2 without problems but tells me my network needs S1 (as expected). It then takes me to Play store where it tells me about the app issues.If I search Play store directly, only S2 shows.Any thoughts The only difference now is that I have Google family link running so my daughter can have the phone. Remember the S2 app can be found and downloaded without issues.

I would like my Sonos One and new Sonos Five to play the same thing at the same time but the Sonos iOS app only recognises one product at a time.Spotify and other services recognise both and at the same time.They’re both using the same single WiFi network. There are no extenders and no mesh.There has only ever been one household and they’ve never been paired (because that’s not possible).How do I get it to work? Any advice gratefully received. Thanks.

Hi everybody,so I just got 3 Sonos One speakers last week and overall im quite happy, but one major issue is that AirPlay doesn’t work as its supposed to. Connecting via AirPlay works well in most cases, but disconnecting from one or more rooms/speakers is not possible. It just keeps playing, loads for a long time (see screenshot) and then nothing happens. The only fix I found is to restart my iPhone (13 Pro). Never had to restart it before, now I’m constantly turning it on and off.Does anybody else have the same issue? Any tips on a fix?Thanks for the help!  

Hi,I can no longer get Sonos to re-index my music library. I use a Samsung SSD plugged in by USB into my TP -link router. I can play music from it as usual but as soon as I try to get the Sonos app to re-index it, it tells me 'Music Files Not Available' The rest of the message tells me  (IP address of the device) is no longer available. But I have just tried playing a song that is stored on that device using Sonos and it has worked fine again.  Any recommendations?   

I have multiple Sonos products and have recently moved back from the US to UK. I have been using the Sonos One’s without problem with my Tidal subscription. I have just connected the Sonos Play 5 Gen 2. When pairing the Play 5 with a Sonos One that is already playing Tidal there is no issue. However when I try to select songs from tidal on just the Play 5 speaker I get the message “You have no active subscriptions” and to go to My.Tidal.COM to manage my account.Any ideas would be appreciated.

On Sonos, I am unable to view my LivePhish playlists.  I have deleted the app many times too.  Is anyone else experiencing this?

Hi, I’m new to Sonos and have just bought my first product, a Sonos Arc. It seems that, in order to use it, I have to connect via your app. I have downloaded this and tried to set it up/register an account. I can see and log in to my new account online but the app is stuck on the ‘verify email address’ screen so I can’t use the app until I verify my email. I haven’t received your email with a link to verify my email!

Just after some product advice please. I am due to receive a sonos beam gen 2 next week. I am an iPhone user therefore will be looking to do the sound test where you move your phone to different parts of the room for the best sound. I just need advice with regards to my living room to provide me the best sound.  To describe the room - it is one large room - that used to be 2 rooms. We sit in the first half of the room, but it is also opened up to the second part of the room. When doing the sounding test.  Should I move my phone into the extended part of the living room too up into the top corners? Your advice is greatly appreciated. Regards Lee Whitfield  

 I have heard that sonos cannot handle 24bits stream music. Since tidal and deezer stream 24 bits music i think that is the reason why sonos always unsync problems and lags if not all ethernet wired. I also read that Qobuz is the first music streaming service that is able to play 24-bit high-resolution audio on Sonos speakers. See the link: https://www.gearpatrol.com/tech/audio/a35924794/how-to-stream-high-resolution-audio-sonos-speakers/ ...But Qobuz is not available in my country Canada.  Any update on this issue, if one day i will be able to play loseless 24 bits music and peacefully enjoy my sonos devices?

I have an iPod Touch running iOS12.5.6 which is supposed to be in the supported versions for TruePlaybut I am receiving a message stating that my operating system is no longer supported.Is there a glitch or what am I missing. Thanks In Advance 

Sonos tech couldn’t help- working from a MacBook!!! I know! SMB1 enabled and Ntmlv1! There is no browse on add music library which is stored on the NAS drive! The network path I have typed gets me to password etc then as it try’s to add I get error code 1001- currently doing my nut in!

I have just added an 8th speaker, and in the controller on desktop Mac changing volume reveals a list of speakers but the 8th volume slider falls off the bottom of the list.  I don’t see a scroll bar or any way to adjust the volume of the 8th speaker.  Solution, anyone?
