Talk about Sonos S1 and S2 Controller apps for mobile, and the desktop app. This is also the place to talk about partner apps, Airplay, and direct control.

I used Sonos speakers a while ago, 5 years +. My friend had the system and I was really impressed. I recently decided I needed some speakers at home and remembered Sonos being the best quality. So I purchased the double pack of the ONE SL. I have to say i’m shocked about how much the usability has declined. Have had constant issues with connectivity, no one is available over the phone, can only connect one of the speakers, does not work on wifi, one of the speakers will not connect at all even over ethernet connection. Complete embarrassment of a system. Will be returning for money back, ill go and give Bose a call. Don’t waste your time with Sonos. I have exceptional wifi too.
Is there a scaleable icon for the Sonos Roam when displayed in the file manager of Windows OS.
I write to share my solution to enable the Sonos S2 Controller to access my Mac music library; it has been frustrating but I believe the solution is quite simple. First, I have a Mac mini (M1, 2020) running the latest version of macOS Big Sur (version 11.5). My music library is located in the default location. I have the Sonos S2 controller installed on my iPhone. My Sonos system has a Boost, Playbar, Play 1, and Roam. The problem was that my Mac would not allow the Sonos controller to access my music library. To make this work, go to the Apple Menu and click on System Preferences. Then, click on the Sharing folder. Then check File Sharing. Add your Media folder to the Shared folder list. Once you add the folder, you will see several users with privileges listed. Add SonosDMS with Read Only privileges. While you are here, please write down the Computer Name; you will need this information for the final step. Close the folder.Next, click on the Apple Music application. Go to the menu bar
Not sure if this message board is a good place to give app feedback, but here goes:The Sonos app keeps presenting me the banner “The Sonos S2 app is now available Check Compatibility”.Couldn’t the software automatically determine compatibility without prompting me? I have 3 devices, 2 of which are not compatible with S2, and no amount of prompting me is going to make a difference! Not a big deal but just annoying that it keeps coming back even after I dismiss the message.
Is it possible for me to use the beam as a mirror for for phone and tv to make ex(Netflix / Hulu) pop up on my tv and have the sound go through the beam? Basically is it possible to have the beam act as a screen mirror and not just as a audio mirror ?
My laptop was running WIndows 10 20H2 and the Sonos app was running fine. A week ago my laptop upgraded to Windows 10 21H1 and since then the Sonos app doesn’t work anymore. When starting it gives a few popups about updating itself but that fails. I deinstalled the app and tried from scratch but it doesn’t want to install anymore. This is the error I get when I try to install:
The room plays such an important part in the sound. Could Sonos please enable the Trueplay feature or provide a more sophisticated equaliser/dsp on the Sonos Port and Amp? Sonos Port and Amp are priced as Sonos premium products and don’t have this feature yet their cheaper products like the One do.Other companies like Marantz, Lyngdorf, NAD offer room correction for their amps without knowing the speakers so this can’t be the reason for not including it. If Sonos added such a feature to their Port and Amp it would give them a significant competitive advantage compared to more similar priced products. Thanks.
Apparently my One SL updated to S2 last night, even though I have auto-updates turned off (as I wanted to avoid this happening). I called Sonos support, who informed me, after much troubleshooting including a diagnostic report, etc., that the update was forced through to all SL units. Resetting my unit didn’t help, as this is apparently irreversible even though I didn’t initiate it.As someone who currently relies on a mixed system of old and new speakers using the S1 app, this seems like a really bad customer experience. I was basically told “yes, we did this. No it can’t be reversed. You have to use two apps now”. At least if there had been some notice of this change I wouldn’t have wasted hours troubleshooting and calling support.Anyone else have this happen to their One SL?I’ve been using Sonos heavily for 10+ years and have mostly enjoyed and recommended it often. In fact, I had just ordered a Move and was going to add a few other units (just moved to a bigger place), but am a bit
Hello AllI have two connect amp with sonos ceiling speakers. Both working on S1 app, I can group them and all. Now thinking of adding speakers to the hallway and living room. i was thinking of getting Play 5 - Gen 2. I was wondering if i can group them all together to play the same music in all of them. or I better be looking at Play 5 Gen 1 speakers?
After power outage no sound out of wired home speakers even though app shows it is playing. Sound works through wireless sonos speakers and alexa speakers.
Opened my Sonos app in my garden room started playing music and was confronted with a boomy mess. Sounded like Trueplay had been turned off.Turns out Trueplay is not only off but shows as if it had never been set up. So I tuned the room again. That worked but it will not show the option to turn Trueplay on or off. Rebooted all the speakers, tried again but although the tuning completes it does not show in the room.diagnostic 1231198605Excuse the title typo, courtesy of Apple autocorrect
I have been trying to get an official response from SONOS on their continued use of SMB1 which will be removed from various vendors products. I have been using SONOS since it was introduced with various SYNOLOGY NAS and Windows based computers to store my ripped music. When SYNOLOGY releases DSM V7 they have indicated that SMB1 will be removed and Microsoft Windows has deprecated the protocol. I will NOT purchase another SONOS product until they provide an official answer on their plans to continue to support streaming music from a NAS that does NOT require the SMB1 protocol.
By using the magnetic mounting plate, battery life gets reduced for below 24h hours! Simply not using the magnetic plates, battery life comes back to normal… learned this from another community platform and couldnt belive that its true!
Hello: I’ve created a number of playlists with various songs from all genres downloaded on my desktop computer. However when I listen to and play back the playlist using my Play1 speaker, many of the songs, because they were recorded at different volume levels, don’t play at the same volume level. Some songs play back louder than others and as a result I am continuously having to increase or decrease the volume on the Play1 speaker, depending on the song.Is there a way to set the volume on the Sonos app or Play1 speaker so that the songs on the playlists play back at equal or the same volume levels?Apreciate any help or insight.Thanks.
I know, another thread started with this topic. BUT…This is a LARGE installation, over 15 Sonos devices, in a very large home installation. On a Unifi Managed network. I know EXACTLY the status of the six WiFI APs that are finely tuned for exact coverage in a intentionally designed network.I can SEE the Sonos devices on the network.I can see 82-99% signal strength of the sonos devices that the controller (and app) can’t see. The Sonos devices fall out of the Sonos network, yet remain on the WiFi network uninterrupted. The EdgeRouter maintains the IP addresses of the missing Sonos units. The MANAGED network works flawlessly for 75+ other devices on it, and SONOS is the only devices that ever have a problem. This forum is full of advice that basically says turn off all the Sonos devices and reboot your network router. This is a ridiculous solution to advise customers to do constantly to resolve issues with your equipment. And for those of us with large Sonos systems, and, as crazy as
HiJust noticed a very strange problem in the Sonos app. I have albums by the group FireHouse (note the capital H in the middle). I also have albums by the group HammerFall (note the capital F in the middle). In both cases the correct case artist names are stored in both the Artist and AlbumArtist tags in the FLAC tracks. In the screenshot below you can see that for some reason FireHouse is displaying as Firehouse (with no capital H) in the artist list and also the track queue, but is showing correctly in the Now Playing screen!! I have tried removing my music library and setting it up from scratch and re-indexing and I get the same resultYou can see from the screenshot below for HammerFall that the artist name is displaying correctly in all 3 parts of the screenThis is same issue in the PC app and iPhone and iPad appsAny idea what is causing this?ThanksG
Hi there! Not sure if anyone had faced an issue adding storytel into Sonos? I have a paid account on storytel (I assume ‘unlimited’), however I am unable to add it in app..Here is the screen recordinghttps://drive.google.com/file/d/15N2G6rhMhxGLwGUIKIvMEFVDVxFGop1R/view?usp=sharing Any inputs welcome, thanks!
Please consider adding a feature to the 'About my system' in the Controller a count of tracks can be displayed and a used vs. remaining capacity % could be displayed.1. This would allow Sonos owners to manage their own libraries2. reduce cost for Sonos in removing unnecessary traffic to Support for such a trivial request allowing them to focus on more serious support issues 3. Remove the time and inconvenience for Sonos owners having to contact Sonos Support for a trivial request
I’ve seen a few questions here about how to stream MLB audio from the At Bat app to Sonos. I recall that a few years ago there used to be an Air Play icon right in the app that you could use to easily stream to Sonos. But that no longer exists in the MLB app. So here is how you can do it in 2021.Open the app on your phone and start playing audio for a game Swipe up on your iPhone, this brings up the Control Center The Control Center should show a section that displays the currently playing audio From this section you will see an Air Play icon Click on Air Play and you should see your Sonos as an option (as long as it is a somewhat modern Sonos that supports Air Play)
I have 2 Sonos One SL speakers in different rooms, and the latest Apple TV. I have not previously had AppleTV sound through the speakers. The other day I was trying to set up Siri control for the speakers, without success. I was also trying to set up leave and return home routines as well as an alarm with the speakers. I’m now seeing a few weird things happen, all with Airplay listed as the source in the Sonos app. I’m now getting brief “now playing” banners come up over the Apple TV screensaver based on music set directly through the app (I think; it may have been the return home routine that set the music). I paused the music yesterday and it started playing on its own a few minutes later. No alarms are set around this time. The last 2 mornings since setting up the return home routine and a 4:45 AM alarm, I’ve had the music change shortly before 7 AM to the station set for the return home routine. Last night my son turned on a movie through Apple TV, and the sound was playing throu
Is there a way to only allow the connected devices to access the sonos one rather than anyone with the wifi access? Its so annoying ...anyone in the same wifi can mess the now playing
From looking a various blogs, I don’t appear to be the only person experiencing this problem, but it doesn’t appear to be easily searchable in the support forums and those I have found have been closed.I’m operating an S1 system linked to a Napster account. I have a number of Sonos Playlists setup using a combination of my ‘owned’ songs linked from my external hard drive music library and tracks from Napster. I am periodically seeing some of the songs ‘linked’ via Napster not payable from the play list. It appears the Napster server link breaks and the track/song can’t be played. To resolve the issue requires having to re-search for the track/song on Napster and re-adding to the Sonos Playlist, deleting the original ‘broken’ link from the playlist. Very annoying! Particularly given that the song can still be found on Napster. Is this because Napster move the track/song between servers, hence breaking the link where Sonos would find the track?
My main gripe is that 90% of the time I go to tap on the speaker icon to change the volume, the app opens unintentionally because the speaker is too small. So, I suggest to change the hotspot area so that anywhere in the green area will open the quick access volume control. Maybe this could also be extended so that only the blue area opens the app, pink are back/stop/ffwd and yellow is room selection. Tapping in the area outside any of these will just be a dead zone. Please see my crude illustration…
I visited my parents home. I updated their system to OS2 to be compatible with my app/my OS back at my own home. Suddenly as I tried to play on their (newly updated) OS2 I had to be logged in to their app account. Once I signed out of my, the app defaulted - without the chance to change - their email. As I tried to sign into mine I get “The email and password you entered did not match out records. Please try again.”Yes - thank you Sonos. My email is not the email associated with this specific physical product in this home. But I have an account! Why must I log in to the account that “owns” my parents’ system and not access my own??Have to say Sonos is one of the less if that the least user friendly systems I’ve ever come across...
Our Sonos Move speaker turned on and played music at 5:30 am. How can we find out which of our phones turned it on? It must have been connected maybe via bluetooth to one of our phones. We have personalization and additional usage data turned on, and so we know Sonos is collecting the information. How do we get access to that log or history data?
