So, I am looking at putting a Sonos speaker in my children’s bedroom. I have quite a range of Sonos products around the house and I don’t want them to have full control of the system. Is it possible to be able to give them access to just the speaker in their bedroom? Like a sub controller from their phones that can only control their speaker but my wife and I still able to control everything? TIA
I’m taking a break from biting the carpet in inconsolable despair to write this. I fear that the October 2017 Sonos app on my iPhone is somewhat short of being truly marvellous. I find I’m having to go in and out of randomly hidden menus in the top rhs or bottom lbs or some other button or arrangement of dots and do so many times in a quest to find that elusive, only occasionally reappearing, menu that has the “line in” button if you scroll right down. I can’t believe how fiendishly difficult it is now to find and do what was easier before. The sooner they can do away with all this lack of clear thinking in the app and get Alexa to do every little thing the better. Compared to spending any more time on this app, chewing up the carpet in desolate, inconsolable frustration and despair would seem to be a more productive use of time. So that’s what I’m going to do now. Goodbye.
I've downloaded the most recent version of the Sonos Mac Controller from the Sonos.com site. The Mac App will only display Favorites and songs loaded into the queue from my iPhone. Trying to select any service (Tunein, Apple Music, Pandora, etc) doesn't work and it says I'm not connected to the network. However, I can start and stop musich in the queue and see and start playing items that in my Sonos Favorites category (that were added from my iPhone). I went to Preferences > Services and selected Apple Music. I then selected my account and clicked Reauthorize Account to see if that would help. At that point, I get the following dialog box. Clicking on Try Again just shows the same screen over and over and over. My Mac App is on the same wireless network as the Sonos speakers and again, it can control the speakers (play/pause) but only for music added by my phone. Any suggestions are welcome and appreciated. Thank you
I am trying to update to the latest controller (as it want let me play anything until i do) on my iMac but keep getting error code 1100. this appears to be "end of tape" how do i fix this. If i uninstall and reinstall, will i lose my link to my music on my mac from other controllers?
Everything used to work perfectly….Then it all stopped working…so, started by rebooting my router. I then hard-wired ZP80 and ZP100 via Ethernet to get them to connect. SUCCESS! I can now control them both on my WiFi network from my iPad SONOS app. That's all good! HOWEVER, I cannot get the CR100 to associate with the ZP80 or the ZP100. How can I get the CR100 to re-join the party? I've tried putting both ZP80 and ZP100 into the paring mode (pressing MUTE and VOL-UP)…and they both blink amber…but the CR100 just stares back at me, and eventually times-out. When it times out, after a few minutes, it says that no SONOS components are present, but I know better…and so does my iPad, which has no problem controlling both units. I've also tried resetting the CP100 by pressing the following sequence: <left soft button> <middle soft button> <mute button> <middle soft button> <back button> ..then scrolling down to "Turn Off CR" .
I have about 24,000 tracks and 100 playlists on iTunes 12.1.1.4. I ran diagnostics and got code 4436632. Please help me fix this issue. I've tried 5 times now to import my iTunes library. On a Windows 7 PC.
Where do I find the instructions for the above message when updating the app?
Are you aiming to create the world's most unfriendly UI? This update is shockingly bad. I can't begin to describe why because it is just rotten through and through, so where to begin? I know that's not very constructive and I'm sorry about that but, just listen to your customers. Just go back to 7 point something and we'll all be a lot happier. While you're at it could you stop pumping out so many updates. Once a month. Max. John
Having been a Sonos user for the past 8+ years this is the biggest backward step the app/interface has ever received. Sonos had a unique selling point of its easy to use, simple, elegant interface, this I feel has been completely lost in the new app. Using the app is now a clunky experience that no longer feels intuitive and relies on guessing which room you’re controlling when searching for music. Do us all a favour Sonos, go back to the old way the rooms/devices were managed! Don’t get me wrong, change is usually good and we like the continued maintenance/upgrades and development. But you need to listen to customer feedback on this one.
When I start my system (nine speakers) they usually work find but then begin to fade out and then in. Is it my Internet connection or am I overloading the system?
Just trying this new app on both android tablet and iPad. Still boring but now more difficult to use. Not intuitive or user friendly. I didn't like the app before now I hate it more. SONOS you need to get better app designers. This app is the only thing that would put me off recommending sonos to all friends and family. HORRIBLE,HORRIBLE HORRIBLE. BORING colours, BORING design, BORING LAYOUT.
I have Sonos in the house and want to put Sonos in the bathroom that will automatically play when entering. The only way I can think of doing this is to have a movement sensor they switches both the light on and power to the Sonos speaker ... but is it possible to get the Sonos to play music when power is provided (ie on power on). I would like a Sonos group for the bathrooms that eternally plays a mix of chart hits, coming into action when someone is in the bathroom, turning off when they leave. However I also want to be able to occasionally play the same music as I have playing throughout the house (ie for a party) - this is the reason I think of a Sonos. Is my idea possible ?
I have a sonos surround sound system in my living room and I like to swap back and forth from the tv sound to online music. The old app had a button that allowed me to switch back to the tv sound but the new app does not have this feature. How do you return to tv sound? Right now I have to cycle my tv input to get sonos to play the tv sound. It’s frustrsting. Surely I’m missing something.
After upgrading to the latest software to enable Alexa integration, my "Rooms" don't all appear on the desktop nor the mobile app. I rebooted all the devices, bridge, and router and they will gradually all re-appear but then disappear again. I can literally watch them disappear from the screen on the desktop app. Diagnostics #7985207 Thank you in advance for any help/guidance.
Unless the rare thing has happened and I am an outlier that is far out, the very useful part of the app - Favourites - is now messed up for playlists, though it appears to be ok for Stations, though these now are in List view. Fortunately for me, since the App store did not have the 8.2 right away, I did not update it on a recently received old iPhone 5 now dedicated for controller duty. So I can do a side by side comparison and verbalise - I don't know how to do screenshots of these. 1. My Sonos playlists are the same large icon view in both. But in 8.2, they now have all of my 12 on view after scrolling plus 5 from service for a total of 17. While 8.1.1. has just 5, the favourites. Defeats the purpose and the meaning of Favourites. 2, See all on 8.2 yields a list of 17 lists, doing the same in 8.1.1 yields just the same 5, choses as Favourites. 3. As I recall, the merging of ALL Sonos playlists, and favourite ones from service under see All, is new. Perhaps useful if the mai
Just got the upgrade for Sonos 8.2 and noticed that now the app runs non-stop in the background. If it's a bug then fine, but if it's intentional to run the app permanently in the background then it's really not good. You could get away with it in previous versions of Android, but on Oreo you get very clear notification about apps not used but still running. Is the app permanently running in the background a 'new feature' or a bug? I really can't justify keeping on my phone an application draining resources all the time.
No sure if that is the right spot: can anyone tell me how to reverse the Sonos app update? We (my family) universally hate it. We would all love to go back.
I have had Sonos for years and on the odd occasion I have had a problem with the system Sonos support has been superb. I have just tried to carry out a system update on a mac (rather then a windows based laptop which is the usual route) and the update gets so far and asks for a password ( not when I use the windows laptop) I get a box with a padlock pictured, it shows my user name and asks for a password. I don't remember setting up a password?? is there a standard password? I tried "admin" and it doesn't want to know. Has any body got any ideas please? Kind regards Greg
A speaker I no longer own is still listed under “Your Products,” how can I remove it?
Difference between build 39247040 and build 39247040c?
I am set up on my system and it works wonderfully. However, my wife would like to play music from her iPhone. I cannot find a way to get the system to recognize her phone. Any suggestions?
I updated my iPad to iOS 11, now my Sonos cannot find the network. Help please!
Man I am so so disappointed the Sonos App on Android. It used to be great, really easy to navigate and use and now we have this complete mess of an app. Nothing is easy to find and I end up clicking randomly until something close to what I want happens. It is SO unintuitive I would rather power up my laptop (which takes 5 minutes) and use the Windows controller (which is still good - for now) than try to navigate using my tablet. SONOS Developers stop over-developing the App, there's not much more you can do to it, like Tomato Ketchup it was a perfect product - find something else to tinker with to justify your existence/employment.
Hello, since sonos devices use wifi, is the sonos software vulnerable to the following WPA2 attack? https://www.krackattacks.com/ If so, will there be an update? Hello - first post here. Title says it all really. The underlying playlists have been deleted at source but Sonos still shows them - quite a bit of clutter I would wish to delete.
