Talk about Sonos S1 and S2 Controller apps for mobile, and the desktop app. This is also the place to talk about partner apps, Airplay, and direct control.

I’m new to Sonos land and have a bunch of the ikea / Sonos speakers that don’t all that fabulously with AirPlay. I’d like to access BBC radio here in Canada using Sonos app. I can’t find the URL for live steaming it. Anybody help?
Any reason why not allowing the user to play/pause + controlling volume directly from the system “tab”? Are there any other places than here to post suggestions? How it looks today: Suggestion to how it could look like:
I have a Sonos system in which all components are on the one network. There are twelve Sonos units (Beam, Connect:Amps and Ones), and two of the Connect:Amps are legacy gen 1s. I would like to make one floor of my house S1 including the old gen 1 Connect:Amps, and one floor S2 with the remaining units. I understand from a previous reply that I can have two Sonos systems - one S1 and one S2 - all on the same network. If so, are there any specific concerns, or ways that I need to set this up to make it work well? I’d like to have two of the S2-capable devices on the S1 system (to allow me to airplay to all speakers on the S1 system). Is there a way to specify/make these S2-capable Sonos units join the S1 system? Thank you Cal
My wife and I recently upgraded our iPhones to 11 Pro’s. We began having connection issues immediately with the new phones. Is Sonos doing anything to address this issue? I talked to Sonos customer service and have a case number, but one thing that’s of some concern is that the Sonos customer service folks are telling me they haven’t seen the issue before. After reading several blogs, it's apparent this isn’t a new or one-off problem…..I hope Sonos isn’t dodging the problem?
Hi Folks, What's the best option for a cheap, decent sized and decent looking "Now Playing" screen that shows album artwork and maybe controls? I typically sit on the other side of a small room and control a Port that is plugged into an AV receiver with a phone or tablet, not using voice commands. Cheap android tablet? (Though stands, and specifically stands that dock/charge and are aesthetically pleasing seem to be quite thin on the ground). A Kindle Fire? I've ruled this out as I have an old one that refuses to find S2 on the Amazon app store and won't run S1 - not sure if the newer ones will work. A Google Hub? I'm unsure if this works currently, or works without queueing the tracks up on the Google device itself. It would be great if it did. I know there are solutions involving Raspberry Pi but the technical aspect (and the small, physical size of the result) put me off. Is there a solution I'm missing?
I’ve misplaced my controller for the ZP80 and would like to replace it. Any assistance from this group would be greatly appreciated.
I cannot get rid of the Chrome ad that appears in the App. Any theories as to how to get rid of this ?
I am hoping a sonos support can explain this officially. When I stream from Spotify, does the song first come down to one player and then if I group, Does the song go out from the one player to the other players in the group. If I have a group does it do the same? Does Tidal hi res also work that way on Sonos?
I have one playbar, a sub, and two Sonos Ones in the rear.I have set the rears to "full." Do I have to use my TV via the optical connection to have the 5.1 separation play correctly? Or does it not make a difference if I were to play it with something like Plex via the app?
Hi, As you all know, Sonos removed the ability to added new devices through the S1 PC app last year. What a nightmare this has been for Sonos installers as now when a device magically removes itself we have to call the home owner and talk them through adding the device on their mobile app. Before the S1 app days we would simply remote into the PC in the comms cabinet rack and add the device for them. At least we can still re-authorise music services from the S1 app when the spotiy password changes. Does the S2 app this bring back the ability to add devices through the PC app?
Hi, is it possibile to create a home cinema for the beam with 2 “Play:5 (Gen 2)” as I already did but with 2 “One SL”? Thanks
Hi I updated the software to s2 control and found I can’t give permission on iOS to my microphone to perform Trueplay. On my iPad permission was already given before update and everything works fine. App is only asking about Bluetooth. did you have same problem?
I have just upgraded to S2 and the app tells me my SONOS connect wont take the upgrade and I have to pay an upgraded model . How do I get my system back to S1 controller so I can enjoy my whole system again? I feel I am being ripped off
How do you add speakers now - via S1 - since the MacOS app insists that a system update has to happen? Hitting a dead end here. Cannot and will not upgrade because of owning so-called ‘legacy’ products.
Just been browsing the forum to see what others have done with the limit on how many tracks Sonos can index, and there’s a few suggestions, but I was wondering if anyone has come up with a definitive easy to follow guide.
Is there away of controlling bad language content or parental controls on Sonos Radio? Listening to Alternative Energy on the new Sonos Radio service but have stopped using it because several of the songs Played have bad language. We have children and it’s not an acceptable risk to leave radio playing.
If I played songs from spotify in the old app I could hit the three dots and select "play next". That is gone and only"play song" remains. If I add the song to "my sonos" then i get that option. However is there a way to avoid this two step process. The "play next" option is there if I select a song from my phone itself. I have read a couple questions on this and after 5 reads still dont follow. Any help would be great as I loved to add songs as I search quickly.
: "When using the songs app, to search albums, the scroll bar, on the right of the screen is prevented from progressing to the bottom of the screen, by the pop up window, showi g which track was last being played. The window acts as a 'physical block, which the scroll bar cannot pass through. How can this be corrected, please?
Hi I am currently running Sonos 8.3 (and have had no issues). I think I may have to migrate to Sonos S1 - as I am getting a new computer shortly. That means my 6 old CR100’s will no longer work. But I know I can use the CR200’s. I haven’t bought any yet - but (of course) I can get CR200’s cheap. So my question is - will the new S1 software recognize them and install them without any issues - or do I have to become NEW SCHOOL Brian? I have managed to resist change for a long time! Thanks for all your help in this matter. Brian
Hi,In need of some help. I have Sonos Move and Sonos one in my living room. Both connected to router and SmartThings hub, with Alexa voice assistant and Spotify as streaming service. I control the speakers predominantly through the Sonos App for music selection, volume control etc. The problem is the app (iOS) keeps showing unable to connect. I’ve tried all the troubleshoot steps but to no avail. On top of this Every now and then one of the speakers will disappear from the system all together until I reset them/or reset the router. it’s become almost impossible to enjoy the speakers. Any advice greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance
SURELY there is a way to shuffle all CD tracks or albums in a personal library without having to individually add CDs or songs to a playlist by now??!! The posts I found related to this topic are all several years old and I have brand new Sonos equipment.
I’ve just updated my Sonos app to Sonos 1 and now having a problem using ifttt through Alexa. I wondered whether it might be caused by moving to the new Sonos 1 app. Can anyone clarify?
I have a Amazon Fire Stick hooked up to a HDMI to audio adapter, then hooked up to a Sonos Play 5 with the aux in port. Sounds awesome. The only problem is that to control the volume you have to use the Sonos app or Alexa. Is there any way to adjust the Sonos volume with a normal TV remote - or preferably the Amazon fire controller?
I use Apple Music (my reasons don’t matter) and I have a number of older Sonos products - mostly the the 5 Sonos Connects that I paid a lot to have installed to stream music throughout my house. Since these older devices cannot support Apple Airplay2, I cannot stream from the Apple Music app to them. So, I am stuck with the horrible, terrible, bordering on useless Sonos app and its poor, poor, poor integration with Apple Music. Can someone recommend a solution to this? Sonos support suggested grouping rooms with my other devices that do support Airplay2, but of course that does not work in my house, for a reason I cannot figure out. After trying 5 times even Sonos support gave up. I need some hope and a better solution.
With recent updates starting from Sonos 2 the app seems buggy across all platforms (IOS and Mac desktop). The app will fail to find the system if it has not been connected for a few days. To fix this I’ve ended up uninstalling the app and re-installing and rebooting my router. Other issues are the app is unresponsive at times or there’s significant lag in between when controls on the app are modified and the Sonos system responds. This seems a very significant step backward. I’ve recommended Sonos systems to my friends and families but with the current state of the things, I would be very hesitant to do that now. This all seems tied to the recent changes to collect more user data. Recommend Sonos put the customer first and make sure that collecting data doesn’t impact performance.
