Question

Optimal experience for FLAC 5.1 Music

I have one playbar, a sub, and two Sonos Ones in the rear.

I have set the rears to "full." Do I have to use my TV via the optical connection to have the 5.1 separation play correctly? Or does it not make a difference if I were to play it with something like Plex via the app?

Hi @doctaphil89, welcome to the Sonos Community! I appreciate you reaching out here with us and let me help you with your concern. When you’re listening to music using the Sonos app, you have an option to select between Ambient and Full. When you select Full, you will hear the same audio on your surrounds speakers as the home theater-like your Playbar and it’s like they are just in a group playing the same song at the same time. Ambient is the default setting for surround speakers during music playback and will play subtle, low volume audio with a limited frequency range. More here. Those two options are not applicable when using the TV audio because surrounds will just work as it is. Hope this helps. We and the community are always here to help.

The Playbar cannot play FLAC 5.1 format.
