I am buying a WiiM DAC streamer , it has SPDIF and Coaxial outputs but Plybar only has Optical Input. Can I connect the SpDIF Out directly into the Optical input of my Playbar? If no means I Need a CONVERTER?
Last week I noticed that 8 of my Sonos devices were incompatible with the Sonos 1 app. Somehow the 8 devices were upgraded to 15.x. I have never installed the Sonos 2 app, so I don’t know how this could have happened.I looked through the community forum and saw that I would need to factory reset these devices, then install the S2 app and downgrade each device. I was able to downgrade all devices except for my two ZP100 devices. The S2 app does not list the ZP100s to downgrade, so now I’m stuck.Any advice on how to downgrade the ZonePlayers? I’m pulling out my hair with all theses steps to get my devices working once again.
I have an Arc and I’d like to be able to connect my non Sonos powered sub and a turntable to it. Would the Port work with the Arc and the turntable relatively flawlessly?
Hi, I have an Emotiva RMC-1 Processor. I am wondering if the line level passthrough on the Sonos Port works with the RMC-1 processor?
I am about to ressurect my old hifi system (turntable, CD player, amplifier, passive speakers) in one of my rooms. I have Sonos components in the other rooms of the house. I’d like to be able to:continue to play music from my turntable and CD player through my old amplifier and speakers stream music from Sonos to my old amplifier and speakers send music from my turntable and CD player to the Sonos components in other roomsThe amplifier (Mission Cyrus 1) has inputs: phono, CD player, aux, video, tape; and a tape output.Reading around, I think what I need to buy is a Sonos Port, and connect it as follows:Leave turntable and CD player, and passive speakers, connected to amplifier as before Connect Port IN to amplifier tape out Connect Port OUT to amplifier tape inputI then select tape input on the amplifier if I want to stream through my old amplifier and speakers. To send music from turntable or CD player to my other Sonos components, I select the appropriate input on my amplifier, selec
I bought an open box AMP from Best Buy ($576) and a new AMP from Crutchfield ($599 Black Friday). the packaging is different. The crutchfield one is in a brown, newer style package while the open box one is primarily black.looking online it looks like Sonos has made no hardware changes it’s all software.can anyone confirm that I’m good with both of these units? I want the newest hardware and am willing to return the BB open box and spend the additional 25 bucks for another one from crutchfield.thanks in advance
Reposted as I originally posted in the wrong group 🙄We currently have 2 x ONE: one in the lounge, one in the kitchen and both grouped. Music is streamed all day as we WFH.We’re thinking of buying a Beam soundbar for the lounge, and using that to listen all day in the lounge and grouped with the kitchen, and then when we watch TV. We’ve not really thought about what to do with the current lounge ONE.When we watch TV, will we need to un-group the lounge Beam and kitchen ONE, or is there a way to set this up so we don’t have to ungroup/group each time we watch TV?We could have the spare ONE in the lounge too, can I set up sub-groups? e.g.Group 1(ALL) > kitchen ONE, Lounge ONE, Lounge BeamGroup 2 (LOUNGE) > Lounge ONE, Lounge BeamAnd still stream music in the kitche whilst watching TV in the lounge? Thanks in advance, hope that I’ve managed to ask this in an understandable way!
I wonder if anyone has knowledge of the following problem. I would like to connect the Sonos ray sound bar to a Panasonic TX-50HX580B television via optical connection but am concerned that as the tv headphones output is totally out of sync with tv picture the same issue will exist on the optical output etc. This is further compounded by the lack of any settings to adjust to solve this issue
i just had one of my Sonos One, less than 2 years old, die on me over the weekend. it doesn’t power up at all. it’s not the power cable as the cable works with another unit i have. what should i do? and fortunate / unfortunate timing, as i was looking to buy a few more units - need to relook options.
(reposting in the correct forum - apologies): Hi - I’ve read a few threads, but would like to clarify:I have two ceiling speakers (DALI Phantom E80) which are 6 ohm. I have a single third ceiling speaker in an adjoining en-suite bathroom (Monitor Audio AWC265 T2) which is 8+8 ohms.I suspect I can’t wire all three to one Sonos Amp as I would drop below 4 ohm on one channel- is that correct? (I’m new to all this…)Thanks
I am setting up a Connect and came upon the "Source level" setting. It wasn't immediately obvious to me how to interpret this but the most literal interpretation would be that "Source level" refers to the source level, i.e. one would set "Source level" low for a source producing low-amplitude signals (causing Sonos to preamplify the signal more) and set "Source level" high for a source producing high-amplitude signals. A second possible interpretation would be that "Source level" actually refers to the amplification to be applied to the incoming signal. The documentation does not resolve this ambiguity; I had to resort to experimentation. It turns out that the second interpretation is correct. This wasn't too difficult to work out but it was inconvenient. I would request that the name of the control be changed to "Source amplification" and/or that the information be added to the documentation that this setting controls the amount of amplification.
Multiple Sonos Ports in separate installations. One or multiple Ports will drop its connection ( was selected in the app, but then drops ). The Ports are all hardwired. Go back into the app select again, it will play for a few minutes and then drop again. This happens across multiple Ports at multiple locations. It is not location specific. Reboots of the switch, and modem have no effect on the behavior.Anyone else seeing similar behavior over a hardwired Ethernet network?
I recently moved into a new home. The previous owner had the home wired for multi room speakers. There are zones that would need to be controlled.1st is the living room with TV. There’s wired labeled there for left, center, and right channels. And one other wire that I assume is for the Sub. See picture below:The question for the first zone is would I be able to connect a Sonos Arc along with a Sonos Amp for the pair of ceiling speakers that would function as the rear speakers. And an existing wired sub to create a surround sound setup? 2nd zone would be for outside speakers. Which I think should be able to be handled by one Sonos Amp. I think this is the wiring for that set: 3rd and 4th zones also seem pretty straight forward also for the Kitchen and Master bath. Here’s the wiring for those areas below: Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.
Hi apologies if this is already answered, but I can’t find my specific question. I have a traditional hifi setup: turntable (no built in pre-amp), cd player and cassette player connected to an amp and speakers. Independent from Sonos. I then have a Sonos system with paired Play:3s, sub and play base for music and connected to the tv, plus additional in other rooms. Questions: I’d like to connect the traditional hifi to the Sonos, retaining the ability to use my old speakers, but not at the same time as Sonos (as I suspect this will give delay issues). Is the best way through a Sonos Port, and does this need a pre amp from the turntable, or does it all go into my existing amp then out to the Port. Also, will this play havoc with my TV setup. Finally, I’ve read that using a Sonos amp instead of a Port delivers better sound, albeit at increased cost. The cost increase is not an issue if the sound improvement is significant. But will this setup work for me?Many thanks.
I have an amp and two sonos in ceiling rear speakers setup for my tv. The tv is connected to the amp with HDMI. I just purchased a Beam Gen2. How do I add this to my current setup? Do I plug the tv into the Beam? Or keep it connected to the amp?
HiI set up a new group, no problem, but I cannot see this group in my device list. When I change a devices room it updates immediately in the device list but I still see no groups. So I'm lost in how to play spotify etc on a group without manually choosing multiple speakers in the sonos app, which also is not using the groups. What is going on? Thanks
Actually, I’m not paying $10k...but can get a really good deal on Sonus Farber (that’s not a typo; it’s Sonus, not Sonos) Olympica II speakers. I’ve never been an audiofile, but am fast becoming one having recently purchased Sonus Farber Lumina III floorstanding speakers a few months ago. They sound awesome at times run thru the Sonos Amp -- but it’s kind of hit and miss. I listened to the Olympica’s at the dealer’s shop with an AMP, and they sounded great there. But is it asking too much of my Sonos Amp to think it can drive the Olympica’s well enough to make the purchase worthwhile? I
there is no front lights on my ZP90, network port lights are active (blinking). I’ve tried several times factory reset, unplugging it from power for a longer time...without success. Does this mean it is the end
Hi, all, I’m thinking of getting a Sonos Arc and connect it to an AV-Receiver (still exploring options like: Pioneer, Yamaha, Denon, Onkyo), but what it boils downto is this:I’m using the smart TV app for watching TV, e.g. Netflix, and the question is: If I connect the TV eArc port to one of the configurable AVR inputs (HDMI 2.1), and eArc output from the AVR to the Sonos Arc: is the sound quality preserved, or does it deteriorate in a sense, that I only get out the 5.1 surround (I don’t know if the HDMI 2.1 input ports on AVRs support eArc - is Dolby Atmos quality preserved?).Maybe the question is a bit silly, just exploring options here...
Hi,I wanted to install a brand-new Sonos Amp in our second home. It is the first Sonos device there, so I created a new system. That worked, but in the end when the app tries to link the Amp to my account I get an error. The Amp is connected via Ethernet cable, so Wifi is not the issue. I have a managed switch and can see that the Amp is connected and has an IP adress. What else could be wrong? If Sonos is reading this, I created a diagnostics report with number 1218390867. Here is the error I get: Any advice is appreciated! Tried again today and it still does not work. Also tried from another iOS device, same result. Another thing I tried is to add a different device, a Sonos One, but the app wants me to complete the Amp setup first. Also I cannot delete the Amp, or at least I don‘t see an option for that. Any ideas? Moderator edit: combined posts
Considering Port, but need to better understand connection to AVR. I believe I need AVR with Trigger input, not output, correct? That seems to be hard to find, most AVR have Trigger Out. Does the trigger from Port to AVR simply turn on the AVR? Or will it also select the correct input on the AVR to play music? For example, if the AVR was last used with an HDMI input for TV, do I need to manually change the AVR input from HDMI over to the input Port is connected to? Also, how does the volume pass-through work? Can I really control the volume of the AVR from the Sonos app when streaming music from Port to the AVR?
Hi all,I’m new to Sonos having just purchased 2 x Era300’s...so far very happy.I have an existing system using a Denon amp (AVR1612) with Denon powered subwoofer and Denon speakers...all old school, using wires. ;)From reading various forums, I seems as simple as getting a Sonos Port and connecting the Denon amp? Before going out and purchasing a Port, I thought I’d ask this community if that’s correct? Or if there are other suggestion please. The Denon is wired up to our TV, CD and turntable and I’d like to have it all integrated including the new Era300’s as part of the total new Sonos controlled system. What I’d like to achieve is Sonos controlled system using Era300’s plus Denon wired subwoofer and speakers. All are located in the same room.I appreciate all thoughts and if you have created a similar setup how you went about it.Many thanks.Cheers Scott
Here’s a puzzler. 1. I use a connect amp to connect to SONOS. suddenly, when I push the pause/stop button, it does not stop. But here’s a bigger puzzle! tonight I had to turn it off, the pause button didn’t work, so i UNPLUGGED the connect amp. The music kept playing! Not for a few seconds, it just kept on playing!! So...that just isn’t possible, but it did. I swear! Not crazy. It played on. the only way I could stop it was to go find my phone, log on and stop with the app.How is this possible? Anyone?
Hello all, I was just going to send this question to chat but no reps are available. So figured I’ll ask here.I’ve had my amp and Sonos architectural outdoor speakers for about 3 weeks now and while they sound unreal it doesn’t always start out that way. When I just start playing the outdoor speakers by themselves they are kinda quiet and lacking dynamics, a little thin. This is the case until I group them with a set of speakers inside, then they are nice and full/louder and sound incredible! It wasn’t just a one off thing it always happens.diagnostic prior to grouping: 1607205154diagnostics after grouping with my set of 5’s: 1495755821Diagnostics after ungrouping the fives: 2002266900and before you ask maybe I’m just hearing the fives I can assure you the the doors and windows between the two speaker sets are closed and I definitely can’t hear the fives. Even with the fives turned down completely.Ungrouping the fives the outdoor speakers remain to sound great. It only happens when the
Sonos is working i have my system up and running on Boost and wifi (Boost wired) my Wifi setup is a Unify dreamrouter with wifi 4: 2,4 ghz enabled, the logs mention (see below) that every couple of minutes the wifi connection is lost and reconnected. Still the music steaming etc plays fine, what i see is that the history is gone all the time, like its has been powerless. I Tries to change the channels and place the boost in a more center like place in the house. please see below the messages i get from unify logs.
