I wonder if anyone has knowledge of the following problem. I would like to connect the Sonos ray sound bar to a Panasonic TX-50HX580B television via optical connection but am concerned that as the tv headphones output is totally out of sync with tv picture the same issue will exist on the optical output etc. This is further compounded by the lack of any settings to adjust to solve this issue

Hi

The optical connection to the Ray is direct output from TV to the Ray like any other optical connection. There should be no delay.

Not sure what headphones you are using and how they connect to your TV; but I would assume via Bluetooth (BT). Depending upon your TV the BT connection may override any internal/external speaker output. In any case you should contact Panasonic or the headphone manufacturer regarding the BT (or other wireless connection) delay.

Hi, thanks for the reply, the reasons I asked the question was the fact that the headphones plugged directly in to a headphone socket on the tv so was worried that the digital output may output from the same source etc

Hi

There should be no audio delay to headphones that are plugged directly into your TV.

Question: Were you experiencing an audio delay or just speculating that would be?

If so; you still need to contact Panasonic and/or headphone manufacturer. Also make sure the headphones are plugged securely.

Hi, the answer to your question is yes, it has an actual delay of around 4  seconds when compared to the tv speaker output. I have read somewhere that it’s a thing called chip set latency that  Panasonic tv’s suffer from.

I initially discovered the issue when I plugged an old gen 1 play 5 in to to headphones socket using the line in function, the sound quality is perfect but around 4 seconds out to the picture which makes it unwatchable etc
