Amazon Alexa and Sonos

Just bought an echo dot and added my sonos system which consists of in-wall speakers around the house and individual sonos connects. The dot is in the kitchen and when i tell alexa to play something in the kitchen it often times plays thru the dot and not the sonos speakers. How do i correct? I never want music playing thru the dot. Is this issue becuase the Dot and Sonos are both called "kitchen"? Should i relabel one? If so, which one? Also, i find that after i have Alexa play a sirius station in a particular room, if i try to play that same station in another room using the Sonos App, the station is blocked. Any way around this? Thanks!

Hi all. I have a set of stereo paired Sonos Ones. I have manually disabled the microphone on the right speaker by pressing the button on top. Today I disabled Alexa by going to [Settings - Room Settings - Living Riving Room (L+R) - Voice Services]. When I followed the same steps to re-enable, I was surprised to see that the app turned the right speaker's microphone back on. Seems to me that a manually disabled microphone should not be able to be turned back on through the network. It's a potential privacy hole. Have others noticed this, and has Sonos stated whether this is expected behavior?

Hello- I have my Apple playlist on Sonos, and I know that I have to start the playlist from the Sonos App. When the playlist is going however, if I say Alexa "Next Song" or "Skip Song" the response I get is "What do you want to play" or "Undefined". This command used to work and now it does not...does anyone know why, or has had similar problems and solved them? thanks

If I buy a sonos one to control a sonos amp and I put them in group mode and I ask alexa a question, will alexa answer in both the sonos one and the sonos amp? Ideally, I would like to put them in group mode, turn the sonos one volume all the way down (so that the sonos one sound doesn't confuse the sound in the room coming from amp and my main speakers), and then be able to control what the sonos amp plays (or says) by using alexa in the sonos one? Effectively, this would be the same thing as having alexa built into the sonos amp (rather than merely having alexa "work with" the sonos amp). Does this work? Any downside to doing this other than cost? Alan

The If Alexa is integrated into the Sonos One, will we be able to play Apple Music content on a Sonos One using voice control of Alexa?

I have a Sonos Play:One is a few rooms and have just bought a Sonos One (with Alexa) as a first step into bringing Alexa into our home. My plan was to have a integrated unit upstairs and then add an Echo Dot into the kitchen and lounge over time. So far I have the Sonos One set-up (haven't played with it much yet) and added one Dot today but haven't got very far. I wanted to check what I intend to do is possible and seem to be having some trouble getting set-up. 1. Use Alexa to control music through the Sonos system - presumably this is possible and from reading it seems this should be the case with or without the Sonos One. 2a. When asking the Dot to play music (in the kitchen) it simply plays music through itself, not the Sonos and in some cases has kept playing the existing track on Sonos and a second track through the Dot - what do I need to ask/teach Alexa to do here? I don't want to play music through the dot, just control the music. 2b. As above but if I say play

I want to change the standard setting of alexa as the wake word to computer, which is a standard option under alexa but is not showing with the sonos integrated software

Hello I’m based in the UK and recently bought an Amazon Fire TV stick (2n generation) in the Amazon Black Friday sale. I thought it would be simple to plug Fire stick in and use Alexa to control my TV inputs etc. However it appears I don’t have the input option on this particular amazon fire stick. I think this works on the Cube but we don’t have that in the UK or the TV edition verion 3. At the moment I can turn the TV on and off though CEC and the beam + Alexa but I would like to control channels and switch to my sky box Input etc. Which amazon device do I need? Also when I did have the input selected manually it would not launch the program such as “stranger things” just brought up the icon. Thanks in advance

I finally got alexa to recognize my sonos 1 speakers. When I give the command to play music on sonos, alexa states that amazon music is streaming on two divices and asks if I want to stream on sonos. I answer yes, and the music plays on both devices, alexa and the sonos speakers, when i say no, the music only plays on alexa. I only want the music to play on sonos...How do I do that.

I recently changed my location to Czech Republic (where I really am) in Amazon settings and no longer able to use Sonos skill in Alexa to control my Sonos Play:1 speaker. Now I get this error message trying to install Sonos skill: "You are not eligible to enable this skill due to geographical restrictions". I've just walked through similar topics here, and looks like people from other countries like Slovenia and Portugal have the same issues. I understand, that it's likely because Alexa doesn't support Czech, Slovenian, Portuguese, etc. languages, therefore the Sonos skill is enabled there, but is it really an issue? I think Alexa and Sonos users don't care that it's in English at all and want to use their Sonos controller together with Alexa. Now it became useless for me because of this strange restriction. So, are there any plans to enable it in EU countries? Is there any way to enable the skill bypassing this limitation? Thanks.

WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT ! I bought a Sonos One. I just wanted to be able to use the Alarm, in Musical mode (via Spotify, TuneIn, or Deezer), as a Radio-clock radio. "("Alexa, please wake me up at 7:30, with the Beatles, on Spotify") This is a very simple feature, which can logically be expected from the Sonos and Alexa wedding. ...Only Sonos Customer Support tells me that this feature...is not available. Just got a Sonos One from UK but app says Voice Services not yet available in India; also Alexa added Sonos skill but unable to detect device. Is there a timeline when Sonos likely to enable voice for India?

I bought the new Amazon Echo Plus in Mumbai, India and since then have been trying to get the Sonos Skill on it. It just does not show up. How can I get this?

I have had a Beam now since launch and I love it. I have only recently enabled Alexa for Spotify streaming to my Beam and that works great, bit I am becoming frustrated with having to launch the App to change the Beam input back to my HDMI-CEC TV. Is there an easier way to do this? I have tried commands such as "Alexa, change input to TV" Is this just the way it's set up or am I missing something?

Inside the Alexa app under devices I can see my Sonos beam and 2 Sonos ones. When I click on any of them it opens up a new screen with a volume slider. When I use the slider to turn up The sound I get a pop up saying we are sorry we weren’t able to update your volume. This happens on all of the Alexa enabled Sonos’s

I have a sonos one and an echo dot, can they work together on the same system. plan was 1 in office and 1 in family room. I have Sonos set up in 7 zones already with amps and connects

Just wondering if anyone else is experiencing this and if so whether I can do anything to stop it happening? i have 2 Echo Dots in the house, one of which is located in the basement. In the mornings, while I'm listening to the radio (via Tune in) on my sonos equipment in my bedroom, the volume suddenly drops right down for a few seconds and then pops back up. I've realised this is because my children are chatting to Alexa in the basement and the volume drops on any and all zones until the interaction has finished. Note: the basement and bedroom zones are not joined together at the time, they are playing different music sources. In fact, I'm not even sure that anything is being played in the basement at the time.

I have a Sonos one in my garage and recently Alexa stopped working. It will chime when I say, "Alexa", but after I give a command, "Play music", "turn off garage lights", "what's the weather", I get nothing. Has anyone else had a similar issue? What did you do to fix it?

I tried to search this topic both here and on Google. My apologies if it has been answered but I cannot find an answer. We have several Sonos Play 1 speakers and an Alexa Echo. I enabled the Alexa skill and updated the software on all of the Sonos speakers. I have the app for both. I created a group in the Alexa app called "Family Room". Under the "Alexa" heading, both the sonos speaker that I want to play and the Echo speaker are selected. In the preferred speaker section it will only allow me to have 1 of the 2 from the above section checked. I have tried it both ways. I am trying to get both the sonos speaker and the Echo to play the music together. I am able to say "Alexa, play music on Family Room" and the music will play on the Sonos speaker, but it will not also play on the Echo. Several websites seem to say that indicate that both will play (though I understand you cannot have two Echos play at the same time). Regardless, I cannot seem to play the music through both sim

I sincerely hope there will continue to be Sonos products WITHOUT Alexa in the future. There is plenty of backlash over Alexa listening in on home environments, and concerns over privacy. Personally, I have experienced interacting with it, and do not care for it at all. My in-laws have Alexa, and it invariably results in multiple people yelling "ALEXA!! Do this! Do that!" It's super annoying, and I don't like the privacy invasion for my own home. When I saw that Sonos now has an Alexa product, I got worried.:(

I have set up my Sonos One with my Amazon Account. I pay for Amazon Prime so I have access to Prime Music and can play this through the speaker. So far no issues. My wife shares my Prime benefits but she also has Amazon Music Unlimited on her own account. I have therefore added her Amazon account to the Sonos app to make use of her subscription. In the Sonos app I can see both accounts and the account that is in use is my wife's as it has a tick next to it. The problem: Alexa is not recognising my wife's Amazon Music Unlimited. When we ask her to play certain songs she says sorry you need an Amazon Music Unlimted subscription. What am I doing wrong? Thanks Dave

I recently got may first Sonos One and I had it configured and working in almost no time. Everything went up smoothly. Apple Music added, Amazon Alexa added, and both working together as it's been advertised. Now, as part of some modifications I've been doing in my home I had to change the wifi configuration and change the Sonos to a new network; it turns out after configuring the device with the new network everything works but the integration between Apple Music and Alexa. It's so frustrating not being able to command Alexa on skipping a song as the assistant will only listen, flash a bit, then do absolutely NOTHING. Has anyone else experiences something similar? How did you resolve it? I'm seriously considering the possibility of returning my ONE as I really don't feel like going thru‘ all this hassle. Any help will be much appreciated.
