Amazon Alexa and Sonos

Running a stereo pair of ones, set up for Alexa. Can both mics be left on, or can only one be used? Thanks!OB

Just tried the new Alexa “move my music” features outlined here — https://gadgets.ndtv.com/apps/news/amazon-alexa-move-audio-music-echo-devices-update-2600004/amp of course as soon as I try it, Alexa replies:“NOT SUPPORTED ON SONOS” is this feature going to be added?   I’m getting awfully close to selling my 8 Sonos Ones and just getting echo devices!!

I've owned two Sonos ones for 3 years now and I can not get the two to play music via alexa. It simply doesn't work. Countless attempts, no real answer from Sonos on it. I've grouped them together as a group in alexa app (the preferred speaker option for both speakers isn't there anymore, can only select one of the speakers or built in speaker) and it still won't work.It's like it's not compatible despite saying it is. I love the Sonos products for their audio quality but voice integration is very poor and poorly advertised as alexa compatible. I know you can't link alexa products with Sonos in a group but can't understand why the Sonos groups won't work. If anymore has ever got this working I would love to know how, as it just seems like I'm banging my head against a wall. Thanks

I'm trying (and failing) to get my Alexa-enabled Sonos One to play music through my other Sonos speakers (six in all). I've set up a group on the Alexa app (whole house), added devices (all Sonos speakers), added my Alexa device (Sonos One), selected “always” so I don't have to specify each room … and when I ask Alexa to play music it only plays on my Sonos One, the rest of the speakers are silent.I've seen lots of references to setting a preferred speaker but can only find this option on the Sonos One settings and my choices are either “built-in speaker" or, under wifi speakers, my Sonos speaker in the Living Room. The option “Let Alexa choose: Alexa will select speakers in the Whole house ...” is greyed out. Clicking on “Learn more" tells me to go to Devices, select the group I want to change, go to the Preferred Speaker section - and that's where I get stuck, I can't find the Preferred Speaker section.Can anyone help, please. Is there a reason why Alexa does not support in SG? And while people can play Apple Music using Google Assistant in other devices, Sonos does not have it!

HiI have a number of Gen 2 and Gen 1 devices. As a number of my gen 1 devices are fine, I refuse to just scrap them to move to the full app.Up until recently, everything was working fine. I have been using the gen 1 app and have both gen 1 and 2 items working fine.  3 of the gen 2 items had alexa integrated in them.Then over the weekend for some reason my sonos app lost all my devices bar 1.  A quick power reset didn't work so I had to manually reset and connect them again (pain). Now I have all the items back, but I can't get Alexa working on the 3 devices.When I go to add the voice control in the gen 1 app I keep getting a “there was a problem adding alexa” issue. The voice contol button on the sonos devices won't turn on and I can't enable the voice control.I've tried deregistering all the devices on Amazon, deleting the skills in Alexa, but still have the same issue.  The fact that the Alexa app can connect to them tells me that its an issue on the Sonos side.Has anyone any ideas o

I would love to have Disney voices instead of Alexa and you could call out say hey Olaf from Frozen or Elsa, Mickey Mouse, and more! Make it more flexible instead of just the plain old Alexa voice and Google Voice be it female or male. Would like it to were you could do your own thing with the voices! 

I’m in the Netherlands. All accounts & devices are located in the netherlands. Factory reset done multiple times. Alexa was working before. It’s just not recognising my microphone and keeps saying Alexa is not available in your country even though I was using it 2 days ago in the same country..! Now I have a Sonos One that is basically just a Sonos SL..

I searched the help quite extensively for this issue but didn’t find anything. Nevertheless apologies if I missed something and this has already been answered.I noticed my Echo Spot is no longer controlling my ConnectAmp in the kitchen and on further investigation it seems it now thinks the Connect is a Roam. I have deleted it from the Alexa app and rediscovered it, it still discovers a Roam and won’t control it. I tried renaming it, that didn’t help.Here’s the thing, I did have a Roam for a couple of weeks but returned it as, to be honest, it was a bit crap, constantly losing connection and needing resets. It took ages to get it set up in the Sonos 2 app, whilst leaving all my other devices connected to the Sonos 1 app….so I am guessing this is at the root of the issue. I have, however, removed all the Sonos 2 stuff from phones and laptop.Does anyone have any suggestions short of me completely starting from scratch, removing all my devices from the Sonos app and rediscovering them? 

I have a lot of Smart Home devices controlled by Alexa in my home in Portugal.I am now very disappointed to find that my newly purchased Sonos Arc does not have Alexa voice facility.Could anyone advise if the problem is with  Sonos or Amazon Alexa?Thanks.

I’ve outsmarted myself and need help! I thought it would be cute to have Men at Work play “Who Can It Be Now” when the Ring doorbell is pressed.  Now it’s driving us nuts and I can’t figure out how I set it up so I can stop it. I’m embarrassed to say that not only does the music play, the Hue lights come on and the Alexa devices all make it abundantly clear someone is at my front door. I know, it’s insanity. But if I never hear that song again it’s too soon. Please don’t judge, just help.

Hi,Been trying for days to get alexa working on my two Sonos Ones. It had been working reasonably well for a couple of years but recently tried out Google assistant (which I can add just fine) and now when I go to re-set up Alexa in Voice Services in the Sonos S1 App (Huawei Mate 20 Pro, v 11.2.12 - have also tried on another android tablet running the same version of the S1 software with the same results)  after selecting the rooms, I press the black “Sign in to Amazon” button but can’t get any further, only get the grey spinning wheel and then “There was a problem adding Alexa”I’ve tried:Everything from these two threads:Disabling my firewall Signing out of all other Amazon apps on my phone Disabling and reenabling the Alexa Sonos skill Removing the devices and re-adding them in the Alexa App Uninstalling and reinstalling the Sonos and Alexa Apps Power cycling the router and the Sonos devicesI suspect the issue is something to do with the Sonos app not launching the browser to allow

Dearest employees at Sonos,I can’t state how frustrated I got when I realized, after purchasing a pair of Sonos One (which a friend of mine brought from the US) and connecting to my place in São Paulo, that I could not use the voice assistant Alexa. The cost of the speakers was R$2.3k (which is the equivalent of two monthly minimum wages in my country), too expensive for it not to have this capability.I have seen many people desiring exactly that functionality in the forums here at your website. Hi there!   I see there are a lot of related topics in the forums, but most are from a few years ago so I’m hoping that there’s an update or two that I can take advantage of.  Here’s the set-up I have in my house:3 Sonos Ones + 1 Sonos Roam in 4 different rooms upstairs 2 Sonos Amps controlling 2 different rooms downstairs (1 amp controls 2 in-wall speakers, and the 2nd amp controls 4 in-wall speakers + 1 sonos sub) Each of these 2 different rooms has one Amazon Echo Dot device used to control these speakers 1 Sonos Connect controlling a 3rd room downstairs (not set-up yet, but will be soon) One amazon echo device in this 3rd room as well I have a Spotify family account with 4 accounts - 1 each for me, my husband, and my 2 kids.  I’d like to be able to:Play a single stream of spotify music throughout the house and/or throughout multiple rooms (this can theoretically be done by grouping rooms together via the sonos amp and/or by grouping rooms together via the alexa app) - this works

I love Sonos products. The sound quality is great. However, I’m having some major problems with the Alexa compatibility. What I want to do is the absolute most basic of tasks for an audio speaker. I want to control the VOLUME, up or down, of all my Sonos One speakers jointly using the integrated Alexa voice assistant. I do not want to make 5 separate volume commands to change the speakers’ volume one by one.Now, I realize this was not possible 2 years ago, according to all the forum posts I’ve seen, but since almost 730 days have gone by since this issue was originally brought to your attention, Sonos, I’m checking in today to see if anyone has found a solution or if Sonos has written the 2 or 3 lines of measly code it would take to allow this simple and basic functionality.Is anyone there and willing to provide support for a customer who has spent in excess of $1,500 to bring your branded products to our entire home?Thank you, Ryan

I have tried many ways but it won't work :( it is very annoying as I have 2 Sonos One and 1 beam. I have to change the sound manually with Sonos App.Thank you for your help guys !

Sonos Roam added normally to existing Sonos system (several speakers/rooms - all good). Then enabled with Alexa - appears to go fine.Back to Alexa - all other speakers listed correctly as Sonos speakers (have Sonos skill etc) BUT the roam will NOT discover as a Sonos speaker!The roam is listed in Alexa devices as “communication” NOT as a Sonos speaker.Only the roam has this issue.Any ideas? TIA...

Until today, my Sonos system was very sadly unavailable to me for the past three months!  But, I am finally happy to be back in action.  One thing is puzzling me, though. I have the mic turned on for only one of my Sonos Ones.  So, I used to be able to just say "Alexa, play Sharp Dressed Man", and it would play it.  That is, I didn't have to say the artist most of the time.  If I add "by ZZ Top", it does work.  Not a huge deal, but just curious what I had added before or whatever that enabled that?  Sadly, I do not remember now!  I guess it was a couple of years ago when I set that up.  Thanks much in advance. 

After working fine for ages commands to Alexa for a Sonos Play:1 now just come back with “Sorry I’m having trouble, please try in a little while”Ive tried all normal fixes, remove/re-discover the Sonos device, disable/re-enable the Sonos skill, restarted the Sonos and even factory reset the Echo Show.

I always use Alexa to set the volume on my Sonos system (Beam, Sub and 2xOne SL) I usually ask her to confirm the volume once set, but now she is reporting it back incorrectly.So if the volume was set to 1 initially and I ask Alexa to set volume to 3 then ask “Alexa, what is the volume for living room?” She will advise that volume is 1, even though it’s set to 3 as she is now louder.Steps I’ve taken to fix:Disable and enable the Sonos skill in the Amazon Alexa App. Removed the Alexa voice service in the Sonos app and added it again too and powered off the Sonos beam. All to no avail  However, what I did notice was Alexa would confirm the correct volume level after enabling the Sonos Skill in the Alexa App or removing and adding the Alexa voice service in the Sonos app, it kinda acts like a reboot but if you change the volume and ask her to confirm it happens again immediately. 

I understand Sonos was disabling the mics on surrounds when paired with an arc or a beam. I have the same problem as many other users - I am often much to the surrounds than the arc and would like to have their mic active so I don’t have to shout from the kitchen at the tv. I don’t care if it doesn’t relay tv commands. I want to play music and ask Alexa things from the kitchen which is close to the surround speakers. Please activate this an option. 

 just bought a Sonos One. trying to set uo a routine on my iPhone in Alexa. the timer function dirsnt work. just keeps playing music after the elapsed time. If I instruct the unit directly it stops after the requested time. 

Hi guys, Hoping someone can help. I have a Playbar hooked up to my Sony TV. If I put the TV on and set the volume to what I want when watching a movie - it’s great.  However, if I then turn the TV off and ask Alexa (Echo) to play a song through the Playbar (using Spotify) - the volume is almost double as loud as the TV.  So loud in fact that my GF did it the other day and it’s actually blown the bass speakers in the Playbar (a separate issue).   When I look at the Sonos IOS app whilst doing the above, the volume slider remains at the same level for both TV and Music however what I hear is completely different.  Anyone got any ideas on what it could be and how to fix it without having to open the Sonos app and lower the slider before choosing music (which defeats the object of wireless / voice activation)?  ThanksDan
