Amazon Alexa and Sonos

Hello,I just received my new Sonos ERA 100. I want to use amazon alexa as a voice assistant for it. I find information that it has built in amazon alexa voice assistant. When I go to the voice assistant choise in the app I see three choises: sonos (enabled), amazon alexa and google assistant. When I choose amazon alexa it shows me the information that I should go to alexa app and include the sonos device in it. But It doesn’t give me the option to login to my alexa account and to choose alexa as a voice assistant. Am I doing something wrong? Sonos voice assistant works fine but I’m used to alexa and would like to use it instead…Thanks for any help.Albertas

My speakers all stopped working it's took me days to get them all back on and connected the only problem I have is when I ask Alexa something she no longer makes a sound so I know she is listening please help

I had to reset my system and now the mic button isn’t working. I have tried to add Alexa voice function as I read that this could be a fix but it says that it needs to verify my country first and need to add a country to my profile. I’ve done this and it makes no difference. Any ideas for what I can try next?

Hi guysgot a problem with my Sonos One 2Gen. Had it set up and working fine till I disconnected it from the power. Moved it to another room now I have no voice assistant. which i used for switching lights on and off or playing music. I have removed the sonos app disabled Sonos skill in alexa deleted alexa app and re-enabled it the same with sonos app reactivated Alexa. but no joy.I have also tried installing the other voice asssitants Google and Sonos and I keep getting the same message “make sure your mobile device is connected to WiFi” which it is. I have tried splitting wifi still from one channel to two no joy..I then did a factory reset in desperation and started again re-named my speaker so that I could check if both the alexa app and spotify could find my speaker, which they did. I re-enable sonos skill in alexa checked the sonos app under settings/products defo connected to 2.4 ghz and microphone is switched off I tried connecting hardwired nothing. Alexa is paired up to my Sonos speakers, Whenever I ask Alexa to play my liked songs from Spotify, the responses “plain Donna’s liked songs from Spotify… I’m sorry that device is off-line.” Can you help me explain why this is happening and what I can do to it

When I ask Alexa to play the radio I hear the response from Alexa but then no sound plays.This is the same for BBC, Virgin radio, anything.

I recently got the new Amazon echo hub. It is a small tablet designed to be mounted on the wall and used for smart home control. it has Alexa inside of it, so voice control of Sonos works. But it’s media control capabilities don’t work. This means I can’t control Sonos from the touchscreen. Of course this will work perfectly with an echo speaker. And doing a little bit of research. It looks like Sonos needs to update their skill to add support for some new API’s that will allow Sonos to show up in the active media app on this device as well as the Show devices. 

Bought Era 100 today, I use amazon Alexa with it for our music. The speaker kept beeping with every command. I turned off the request beeps on the Alexa app, which stopped it, but for some reason the Era starts beeping again on voice commands, despite it still being turned off on the Alexa app. We have a couple of Sonos Ones in other rooms, and have never had any issues with them. Am I missing something with the Era 100. 

Hi.More times than not I have to ask Alexa at least 3 times before it will respond. Dont get me wrong, everytime you speak the light goes green but disconnects straight away but then after 3 attempts light stays solid and carries out your request. Have spoken (web chat) to Sonos but no joy. Sonos had me disconnect  both power cables for 10 seconds ( have 2 Era 100s ) but no change. Then disable the skill from Alexa app and renable but its basically still the same. Does anyone have the same issue and if so fixed it. Its just a bit annoying continuously having to repeat things over and over. Would be grateful for anyone's help or advice. ThanksEddie   

Hi all,I’ve been banging my head against a brick wall with this forever … I have Sonos speakers distributed through the house, along with various Alexa devices (dots and flex mainly). My Sonos kit uses a variety of models from old to relatively new, and includes a couple with SVC. I have groups for each room, and then an over arching ‘House’ group with all my Sonos speakers in it. This used to work fine … I could call out specific rooms are ask any of my Alexa devices to play music everywhere (House).  For the last year or so (possibly since changing to a mesh WiFi system) I’ve had nothing but difficulties. If I ask Alexa to play music, the speaker she choses appears to be completely at random. She will never play from all the speakers in the group. SVC is much better,  but once music has been started from Alexa I have to manually go in and deselect then regroup all the speakers. Does anyone have an experience on a similar set up? Hi all,I recently enabled Alexa on my Sonos Arc and we are having awful problems with the Arc “stealing” the Alexa response.We have a large open plan living space and Echo devices in the dining area, kitchen, snug and hallway, the Sonos is the AV system in the living area.  Before adding the Sonos system, the Echos were VERY good at working out which speaker was being addressed, you could be standing exactly between two Echos but if you turned your head towards one it would work out that was the one being addressed.  So if you were standing in the kitchen area and said “Alexa play the radio” it would only play in the Kitchen.  Amazing.Since adding the Sonos Arc to Alexa system the Arc now ‘steals’ every response no matter where you are standing in the room.  Weirdly even if you specifically say the speaker like “Alexa play music in the kitchen” the Arc still steals the response and will start playing.  It’s like the two systems don’t talk to each other, if I’m standing in the kitchen a

After a power interruption Sonos won't respond to Alexa command. So I went to the Alexa app and disabled the Sonos skill.  Thereafter, I enable the skill. While my Alexa account get linked with Sonos, once the Alexa app looks for a device to connect, it cannot find my Sonos.  How do I fix this?   And when I tried to add Sonos voice, it does not fully install and I get a message that there was something wrong.  I checked the wifi connection and the Sonos app indicates the signal is excellent.  Now I do not have either voice command. 

I’ve had a Sonos + Alexa going on for a good time. It works normally quite well and most issues in recent few years have been about Alexa. Yeah, Sonos speakers tend to take the command (my outside speaker replies when I speak 20cm from my Kitchen Echo Show) that’s meant for devices with a display, but I’ve come to understand I should only execute commands and not really expect an answer, so that’s fine.. But I’ve noticed recently a growing problem of not finding what I want to play with the Sonos app. With Alexa I can just say “Alexa, play dreamy edm” and it chooses a channel and plays something. Surprisingly often it chooses right and I’m happy with whatever comes out of the speakers. But there are situations when I want to use the app instead of voice commands, say during past week Alexa has always stopped playing music after one song no matter what album playlist or station I ask it to play. I figured out how to make a speaker group in the Sonos app, the only issue is when I ask Alexa to change the volume, it only changes it for the one that was activated using Alexa. I tried making a group in the Alexa app combining the speakers into one, but nothing happens.

Known bug (on Sonos support page) that with the March 14, 2024 Alexa App and Sonos 1 app updates, Alexa voice does not work on the Sonos One (Gen 1) speakers. When I look at devices in the Alexa app it says my 2 Sonos One speakers are unresponsive and offline. I’ve tried to clean out or log out of all apps to get my Sonos speakers to work with Alexa without success but have further data to support that the latest Alexa app (updated 3/14/2024) is recognizing my Sonos One FIRST Edition speakers as SECOND Edition speakers and that explains why they are not working. See screen shot below of my devices in the Alexa app for that corroboration.i tried to email this to Sonos (support@sonos.com) but got a reply saying that address is not monitored. How to set up alexa?

I have registered my amazon account for alexa on my sonos one, but every time i ask it which account it is in, it states it is in my wifes account ( who is a household member).I have disabled the skill, deregistered the sonos one and then set up alexa again using my amazon account, yet when i ask again which account it is in alexa says its in my wifes account!?!The odd thing is when i have set up my beam using my amazon account, alexa on my beam says i am on my account (not my wifes), doing this in parallel, my sonos one always says its in my wifes account and when i ask it to swap accounts it says it can’t do that, all very frustrating.The only thing that seems left to me, is to remove my wife from my household amazon profile, but then i can’t add her back in for 180 days. Any suggestions from anyone.

Hello Community!I’ve lately just noticed Arc is calling spectrum.s3.amazonaws.com every 5 minutes 24/7. Since then I’ve just blocked this host on my AdGuard dns and to my surprise Alexa is working just fine. I have a few other Echo devices and none of them is calling this host. WTH Sonos?
