Sony Receiver "Works with Sonos" Automation Issues in a Larger Sonos System (6 or more Sonos devices)
I am a custom integrator and just love the Sony Music Connect / Works with Sonos automation built into Sony ES receivers. Pair a Sony ES receiver with a Sonos Port in the “Works with Sonos” settings menu and voila, you can turn a big home theater into another Sonos zone where control on the Sonos app works like any other zone (even bypassing the Sony’s volume control) and you never need a separate remote to play music.The feature works by watching the multicast chatter on the network and when it sees a “play” message coming from the MAC address of the associated Sonos Port, it switches on and goes to the input dedicated to Sonos.I’m having a problem with a new installation utilizing a Sonos Port and Sony STR-AZ5000ES. This feature doesn’t work when all 17 installed Sonos devices are running on the network, although it will start working when you unplug many of the Sonos devices from power. I have a USB HDD connected to my Archer VR1600 router, which is shared and accessible on my Mac://ipaddr/volume(sda1)/..When I attempt to add that path to my Sonos library config and supply the share credentials, it whines that ‘the computer (ie my router) refused to let Sonos connect to it’.[update:] I’m using the S1 version of Sonos software as the device is a Connect/ZonePlayer.---Background: our LaCie NAS is about to die, and it makes sense to move the the data from it to a Google cloud account.I want to keep a local cache of our audio files for streaming through the Sonos Connect.
Good Morning, Novice here. Sonos Arc, Sub, 2 SL’s. Arc is of course hardwired to ethernet. The rest of the video is ROKU wifi’d controlled by Logitech Universal connected to a Panasonic 60’ plasma. Router is of ATT type with a Nighthawk extender. After a home remodel the router is now stuck in a built in cabinet and all we want now is to get the contractors out of here. That being said wifi signal to the 60’ is ok for streaming but I think it could be much better. A little interwebbing ethernet connection to ROKU would be optimal. Has anyone placed an ethernet switch at the site where it connects to the Sonos bar? Im thinking it could work and connect it to my Roku. Then set up a hard wired connection. I’d love to tackle this if it's feasible. However need the experts advice before I start pulling and plugging. Thanks Dan Nicholas

I previously changed my email address with Sonos many years ago and in doing so had to start with a new account on here so lost all my previous history and I seem to remember issues with my system as well but can’t be sure.I’ve heard a couple of horror stories where people have changed their email address for their sonos system and ended up losing radio stations and other things in the system and it wasn’t straight forward for them.Is it any easier now in 2023? All I want to do is change my email address for my system and these forums which I believe probably use the same login details?

We have a system where we are trying out a Zero trust software. This software would basically install a new TAP Adapter in the machine and would have higher metric value to that of the primary adapter. The problem that is occuring is that Sonos Speaker software is only sending the DNS requesting to this adapter rather then broadcasting to other interfaces. This is causing the Youtube, Spotify and other applications to not load applications.We tried to make the DNS request to be broadcasted to other interfaces by adding a registry entry in windows https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/troubleshoot/windows-server/networking/dns-client-resolution-timeouts. But even though the physical interface is sending the DNS response the Sonos speaker software is not honoring the response.Is Sonos speaker is only listening to the Network interface with higher metric?
When I group my soundbar with my front stereo, I’d like to control the volume of all speakers using the TV remote / HDMI ARC, not just the soundbar. Alternatively it would be nice to add the stereos to the soundbar similar to surrounds but still be able to use them separately for music.
How can guests play music on my Sonos Arc system without also gaining full control of it with the Sonos app?
Hello. My Sonos system is an Arc soundbar with two S1s for rear fill, and a sub. The Arc soundbar is physically plugged into my LAN. I use it to play audio when I watch movies, and otherwise just to listen to music when I’m home. I would like guests to be able to play music through this system without being able to access all of the settings for my Sonos system -- for example, settings like changing audio compression level, pairing or un-pairing S1 speakers, fiddling with audio height and surround levels, etc. Ideally, I would like for this to happen wirelessly. I did a test where I deleted the Sonos app off of my phone. Without the Sonos app on my phone, I connected my phone to the same WiFi network that my Sonos system uses. I was able to see my Sonos system as a “speaker” to use as an AirPlay destination, which is great. But then when I installed the Sonos app on my phone, without even signing in to the Sonos app using my Sonos login & password, I was able to fully acces
We are remolding a house we will move into and we just finished our outdoor pool and looking at getting the Sonance 8.1 outdoor system and then also have Sonos bluetooth speakers in various rooms inside. I would like to have all this on the same Sonos App where I can control it all together, or use different music in different areas. And then I’ll combine the app to Google home to control it with voice. I have searched for hours for this answer. Hoping someone can help me out so I buy the right products! Thank you in advance!
Hello all,Bought a new NAS (Synology). Unfortunately cannot my older sonos system /connect:AMP (using the S1 controller) won't add the path with my music. On my new sonos system (using the new controller) it does work. I did change the nas to smbv1 and i also checked the NTLMv1-autentication box. Tried to make a different folder/user account to use with my old system, but this also failed… does anyone here have any advice?Cheers
Hi,I was setting up an older Sonos system an our cabin and wanted to add a WD100 iPod dock to it. Sonos said it was no longer supported, but I was hoping someone had a work around. I’ve got an older iPod that has all my music on it. My system consists of a bridge, two Play 5’s (in different rooms), and a Play 1.if anyone knows a way to make it work, please let me know. I have installed the Sonos S2 app and connected my Amp, that works fine. But then I try to connect my Play 5, and I’m told I need to use the S1 app.So I download the S1 app, and run factory reset on the Play 5. The app (S1) now detects the Play 5, but tells me both systems (Play 5 and Amp) can be controlled by the S2 app, but it needs an update..Next I open the S2 app, and try to add the Play 5, and I’m told the Play 5 can only be controlled by the S1 app.This seems like a “catch 22” situation. I need to update the Play 5 to connect to one of the apps, but I can’t connect before I’ve updated it. Any advice?

I would like to add 2 devices to my Sonos system: the Beoplay A9 MKII and a turntable. Hello. I own:1x One. In room a.1x Arc in room b2x Era 100 in room c as stereo couple. When I open the Sonos App in my iphone I see either room a and b, but not room c.When I “kill” the App in the iphone and open it again, it shows me only room c, but not room a and b.When I “kill” the App again and open it again, it shows again room and b only.This means I can switch what I see every time I kill and restart the App. But I never see all rooms with all devices at once.Any idea? What I really want to do is to add the 2x Eras and the Arc in one room, but this is not possible due to the problem. I never see them together. I also don´t see them together when I put them in the same room on the app. Additional info:All rooms can be seen at the same time by my Apple Macbook. Also, all devices are visble at the Alexa App.As Access Point and Router I use a Unify Dream Router. Looking for some guidance on a non Sonos issue from gurus here: In a TP link access point that is ethernet wired back to a Apple Time Capsule base station, DHCP is disabled, and everything in the served space works fine, including Sonos/Firestick/Phones/Computer, with Sonos in WiFi mode. TP link model WA 850 RE. Now for another device being added in the space, a HomePod mini, I see some recommendations of giving it a static IP address for stability. Question therefore is how/where is this done? By making changes in the app that is used to set up the access point? Or, back in the apple base station?Appreciate any guidance. Hi!I am currently spec’ing out a wireless system that meets some slightly odd standards and curious if Sonos can meet these needs. I am working with spatialized audio that is not packaged in the standard formats and is sent via separate outputs.I am looking to send 8-16 induvial mono outputs from an audio interface to corresponding Sonos speakers. In short.. is there a way to send multiple inputs to a Sonos system? Or is there a route that would enable me to use a Sonos system in this way?
This is not a question - but just sharing my experience. I have recently updated my wifi with mesh and the older sonos components wouldnt connect despite numerous factory resets and scratching of head. Each time I went through the process to add older items - it failed at the last step when it tried to add to the LAN. The reason was the mesh system had its own DCHP server hidden in the settings. Once this was disabled (put into access point mode) I was able to connect.I had originally put this down to Wifi 6 compatibility I hope this helps others

But when I play music from the sonos app the songs in dolby atmos sound bad, the mix is almost complete on the rear speakers Era 300. this happens a week ago. Hi All! Working on helping a customer move some music. I’ve setup a Buffalo LS210D NAS drive connected to the SONOS system. This music is being moved to this drive from an older iMac that is having issues. I got the NAS drive setup on the router with a static IP address so it will always find it. I went into the SONOS app and put that NAS drive into the music library setup. The music is in a shared folder on that Buffalo NAS drive. It works like a champ. We can see and play the music in the music library. Here is the problem. I started by just placing a small amount of music in there to set it up and make sure it works. Now when I add more music to the NAS drive the app does not see that newly added music when we go to try and play it. The previous music is there and plays fine. I can delete that from the Music Library Setup in the SONOS app and add it back again the same way it was and it sees the new music. Below is the syntax of the setup. All music that is added is ad
