Advanced setups

I have a sonos surround setup with a beam and 2 play ones in living room. Is it possible to play music only on one speaker within the group? Let’s say I want to play only on the left side play 1. Is that possible? I use the android app.

Newbie here.  I’m building out a covered porch right now with the “dream setup”. Outdoor fireplace with TV & ARC above it, and am planning on using AMP + Ceiling Speakers as rears for that system.  Everything is getting framed and built out right now, and I’m trying to figure out what wiring I need run.  Below is a rudimentary diagram of my plan.. but here’s the crutch of my question:  ARC will be hooked into TV’s eARC HDMI port.  I’m hoping that ARC can wirelessly bond to an AMP so that those are a single Sonos Room together (and the AMP ceiling speakers set as rears), but my concern is my planned location for the AMP is in a utility closet that is about 25 ft away from this porch (through walls), AND that’s through an exterior brick wall. Unfortunately the AMP is backordered until late August and construction will be wrapped up by then, so I can’t test all this while all the framing is still exposed. Should I run Cat5 (or another cable?) from the TV / ARC location to the utility

Hi, My new ARC when i plug it into the power and wired network, the S2 app says it needs a update. The update does not happen because its in WiFi mode and it storms the network. All other SONOS devices on  network are wired.Is there anyway to set it up as wired before it tries to update ?  

Does anyone have experience of using the Move as just a speaker for skype or teams calls. I'm using my laptop, but the speakers are terrible and want better sound. I've seen several posts complaining about not being able to use the microphone but that's not an issue if its only used as a speaker. Is it possible? Is there hideous lag? Am I barking up the wrong tree? Not going to buy a cheap Bluetooth speaker if the Move does the job as it would be a great addition to my sonos setup, but equally not going to buy a Move if it won't work for call audio and I still need to buy another speaker. Thoughts from anyone who has tried it would be appreciated. 

So I’ve done searching through here and find some similar but slightly different questions, so here goes… in house 1 I have an S1 system with a bunch of play 5’s, connects, one, play bar.  now in house 2 I want to set up an S2 system with several new Sonos amps.  also I use the same WiFi ssid and password for the networks in both houses so how do I set up the new S2 system and are there any complications with the existing S1 system? TIA

I’m an authorized Sonos dealer.  Installed a system 6 months ago in a cabin 100 miles from my office, configured system with S2 on my Android tablet, system working fine when I last left it.  Customer does not use cabin during winter.I wanted to know how to completely delete the current Android configuration created with my company credentials and start with a clean install on customer’s iPad.  Sonos agent wasn’t sure how deleting configuration would affect Sonos upgrades or any other effects.As another option, I had questions on transferring the system to customers account that’s to be created next week on their iPad.  Needed to know if a 1 - Boost, 3 - Amp configuration created on a current Android tablet to an iPad will transfer without a complications.  I’d prefer to delete and start from scratch but need a possible back up.Complete frustration with call - escalated and told best they could do is email transfer instructions (Android to Android?) just before call dropped. Does anyone have any recommendations for a portable CD player that I can connect to my Sonos Five? I have a large CD collection that I'd like to inergrate into my Sonos environment and my Five appears the best way to do so. I'm looking for something under $100. Thanks in advance. 

I recently moved and decided to invest in 5 new One SL speakers. I also took my old system with me, consisting of two Play:1’s, a Playbar, a Play:3 and Play:5. The system was running on S1 because of the old Play:5. I am ditching the Play:5 because I want to move to the new S2 system. I tried to set up the new system by plugging the old Play:1 with an Ethernet cable in the modem. The S2 app told me to switch to the S1 app. I disconnected the Play:1 and used the One SL instead. This worked well, I managed to set up the One SL’s in the new S2 app, and those speakers work. But now I want to add the Play:1’s, the Playbar and the Play:3. But the problem is that the S2 app now suddenly cannot find them. Is there any way to make those speakers visible again?

But I have seen problems in the past with grouped wireless play while playing uncompressed files from Sonos line in jacks. And the link above is a case of someone having problems playing Sonos HD radio. In grouped mode as well as on a single speaker, where the Sonos response has been: ethernet wire the units to the core network.By all accounts, Bluesound has the same problem. Hi, In a client setup having a Beam connected to the TV (via HDMI with ARC) and an AMP for a spill over area, client would like to have the possibility to listen to the TV audio in the spill over area as well. In view of this, I thought of connecting the source to an HDMI distribution amplifier such that the outputs can be connected to both the TV and to the AMP in orderto provide the amp with the source audio content. The TV is then connected to the Beam via an HDMI ARC connection, which works great. The AMP however, does not accept the HDMI input from the Distribution amplifier as an HDMI with ARC functionality. Why is it not possible for audio to be used from the HDMI signal which includes both video and audio content?Thanks

If I take a my Roam and my Move to the dog park, is it possible to stream bluetooth audio to both devices simultaneously?My iPhone is able to connect via bluetooth to both devices at the same time but only one device plays audio. If this isn’t possible now, could a future update make this possible, or is it a bluetooth issue that doesn’t allow grouping devices? 

Hey Community! Sorry to sound like such a novice but I have a Sonos Beam, two Ones as my surrounds and a Sub currently set up as my TV surround setup.I have bought a turntable which I wanted to connect to my speaker setup through a Sonos Amp.I have set this up today and it seems that the Amp cannot connect / stream to my existing system as this wants to set up a new room with this as the main component. Is there a way I can stream my Amp inline audio to my existing system so I don’t have to reset up a system every time I want to listen to my turntable? Thanks in advance!

Hi i just switched my audio setup for an AVR and separate Dali Oberon speakers to a full Sonos  system (arc, sub and one sl’s)I have a 4K Samsung 65” TV (2020 model with eARC) and a Mac Mini M1 hooked to it as my media center. When I had my AVR I got the Mac mini to play full Dolby surround via the AVR (HDMI all the way) (5.1) Now that I have switched to the sons setups I no longer get the option of multi channel output to the Sonia arc via the TV only 2 channel stereo. The MIDI setup no longer displays the option of multichannel output to the arc via the TV I have the TV set to atmos comparability “on” and digital audio output format “auto”Mac mini connected to hdmi 1, and Sonia arc connected to hdmi 2 / eARCif I play content via a usb drive on the TV I get full surround and atmos (tried a sample file via a usb thumb drive directly to the tv) anyone have a clue how I can get my Mac mini back and working as my media center with Sonia and be able to use full atmos multi channel? Thanks 

I have had my music stored on an Addonics NAS for the last 8 years and it works with sonos fine, simply acting as an NAS.  I now see it is no longer supported and my mac has stopped accessing it. It is the same size as a raspberry pi with a usb drive plugged in.  Marvellous bit of kit really.Whst should i replace it with?  Should I go for another NAS or a streaming solution like plex?  What is the difference?  Apart from the obvious.  The NAS should be small and quiet and still supported.  I have a raspberry Pi v3.  I am guessing I could probably just install a linux on it, mount the drive and share it.  Is there any advantage to having plex on top?  Any alternatives?

Thought his group might be interested in my adventure adding four additional subs, three powered non Sonos subs and couch bass shakers to my Sonos sub. The Sonos sub is paired to a Sonos ARC and two more One SL’s for a 5.1 system on the TV. I had but shakers in the couch and several other subs left over from the conversion from a Pioneer Elite system. Got tired of having to update the receiver for the newest audio formats, 3D, and 4k. Then the hardware 4k bug hit the latest crop of AV receivers and I pulled the trigger on the Sonos ARC and sub. The sound quality was not quite the same but the versatility and ease of use of the system is easily makes up for it especially if you ask the wife. This mod took the sound quality up to be nearly equal if not better.  I wanted to use my existing non Sonos subs but did not like the mods I found on the interwebs connecting powered subs to Ones and Plays directly from the speaker outputs. I am trying to optimize an outdoor TV setup for simplicity but also use Sonos sound setup I have. When planning out I did run 2XCAT6 behind the TV but didn't really think through how my Sonos Audio setup is going to work so trying to figure out ARC with Samsung and the HDBase-T setup.Outdoor:- TV (Looking at Samsung Terrace) which has HDMIs including HDMI ARC; Also supports HDBase-T but doesn't come with a transmitter only a port on the TV- Sonos/Sonance Outdoor Speakers connected to Sonos Amp by Pool (4 all on one Amp right now)- 2 CAT6 runs behind TV- No other cabling other than electricityIndoor (Wiring Closet)- Sonos Amp that powers 4 outdoor speakers- DirecTV Receiver (Wired via Coax)Question:I want to use my Sonos speakers via the Sonos Amp for sound with the Outdoor TV - How do I make sure that I can watch TV from DirecTV Receiver or Apps on the TV and have sound go through Sonos AMP via ARC? HiI have a sonos Arc as soundbar for my TV, but I also have a pair of high end active monitors.is it possible to set up 5x surround when I add my monitors on a sonos port for fromd L/R and two sonos one’s for rear L/R?if aforementioned setup is possibe, i also have an additional question:Is jt possible to always include the sonos port when playing regular stereo through the sonos arc? 

What is the approximate Watts used to run the Play:5 (Gen2)? I am hoping to use 2 for outdoor events this summer, and want to get the right amount power bank to do a decent afternoon of music (min 3-4 hrs, ideally the capacity for 8+), but balancing considerations for weight and price.  Kind Regards,Darius Dias

I use an iPhone, MacBook, and also have a Roku stick that I will have with me for travel.Was hoping for any advice on how best to make a setup like this work so the Roam is the main/only audio?Any projector recommendations a bonus. Thanks is advance. 

Since I can unplug the speaker and it still connects to our WiFi and remembers the account when it’s plugged back in, I assume that the software includes some sort of memory chip that retains the ID. Am I correct?
