Advanced setups

Looking to help my brother with a Sonos set up. He has a Sony TV in his living room and two ceiling speakers in his adjacent kitchen (wired to basement). He would like to be able to say, for example, to his Alexa device (Echo or Refrigerator) to play the sound from the TV into the Kitchen.  How can this best be done?I was thinking he may need to get a Sonos Arc for the TV room and a Sonos Amp to power the ceiling speakers. The Arc could always be used for when watching TV and he could optionally enable the Sonos Amp / ceiling speakers in the kitchen when he wants to. Is there an easy way for him to be able to enable/disable playing the TV through the kitchen speakers? (It is not really practical to run new / additional cables.) And it would be ideal to be able to say Alexa play the TV through the Kitchen speakers or something like that.Thanks in advance for your support and ideas. 

I have a large living area (irregularly shaped) with 10 built-in speakers spread throughout the space, not obviously arranged in any right or left pattern.What is the best way to power these speakers and integrate with Sonos? Do I need to buy 5 Amps? Buy 1 and add an amplifier (but then can I control the volume of the amplifier with the app)? Do I just somewhat-randomly connect the 10 speakers to left and right?

how do i configure my acr + sub (gen 3) + 2 era 300 so when i connect my macbook pro laptop to my LG C1 tv using an hdmi cable to play my itunes music through all the speakes?  Currently the music is only coming out of the arc speaker. when playing music. I currently have the living room set up as a home theatre system.  Is there a way to use the speakers as another room so I can select the room configuration I want to use when listening to different sources? Like having a theatre room set up and then having a music room set up using the same speakers?thanks,mitch

I was following the guide on building a control integration, up until https://devdocs.sonos.com/reference/playbacksession-loadcloudqueue-sessionid i have a audio playback focused webapp that wants to stream its content to sonos. i can successfully authenticate, discover and create a session. when i try to attach a playlist to the session using loadStreamUrl by specifying a queueBaseUrl to the groupId parameter i get a 501 error.i implemented a set of endpoints on https://example.com/sonos/cloudQueue but i never see any requests hitting it.interestingly, LoadAudioClip is working, but this is far from ideal.sorry if this is not the ideal forum, i was not able to locate a “developers forum” otherwise.

We have to get our Internet from a cell tower via a T-Mobile Home Internet.  We just replaced our router and the router uses a SIM card.  Now we can’t connect our Amps via wifi like we use to.  Called tech support and they said you havre to buy a bridge.  Anyone have this problem and or solutions? 

Hello? I have a unique TV setup that does not allow for center mounting of a single center channel speaker.I want to put in. A surround sound Sonos system and am curious if I can “link” two speakers together as a center channel or if I will have delay or other issues? Thank you. 

I currently own a Connect:amp that is working with a phono preamp, pwrd subwoofer, and a pair of passive speakers. Above is Integrated into Home Sonos net work. Interested in using amp as streamer bypassing amplifier to utilize a integrated amp: which I would like to power stereo, speakers, and sub. Is this possible or do I need to trade for streamer.

Hi,I’m currently in the process of remodeling my apartment and would like to add a surround system.I’ve been looking to add the following as my setup.(1) Sonos Arc(1) Sub Gen 3(2) Sonos Amp(2) Pairs of Sonos In Wall(3) Pairs of Sonos In Ceiling Would this be possible?   The Arc, Sub Gen 3, Sonos Amp, both pairs of Sonos In Wall and 1 pair of Sonos In Ceiling would manage Home Theater and the other two pairs of Sonos In Ceiling would be for ambient sound in other areas. The Sonos In wall would be LF, RF, LR, RRSonos In Ceiling would be SL, SR

Hi, am looking to take some of my sonos speakers to another house for the day. Is it possible to disconnect these speakers from my setup, connect them to another wi-fi (they don’t have any Sonos products so will be just my own being used in the alternative location) and then re-connect them to my normal setup when I return home?  If so, is it as simple as taking the speakers and connecting them to the alternative wi-fi and then the same when I get home?

Hi all, Trying to reconnect both of my Sonos amps and port back online and having connection issues. Before Spectrum came out and replaced the router and modem it work fine.  So the amps are recognized but when I put my new WiFi pw in it says there was a problem and the msg is this. When I called Spectrum they said they flipped it to 2.4 for 1 hr to give me time to connect and it’ll go back then to normal. Still would not connect. I found a post on this topic from 2 years ago, but it didn’t answer the question.I have been setting my alarm to Grouped Rooms for years and now suddenly it won’t work. I have done a bunch of troubleshooting, including unplugging all my speakers, resetting the controller, reinstalling the app, and removing and replacing the Alarm several times. None of these have worked.Has Sonos made another change which causes the grouped rooms option for the Alarms to not work. It’s bad enough when an update has been made and the Chime goes off instead of Music, but now the Grouped Rooms option seems to have new challenges.I appreciate your comments and maybe this can get resolved.

I have a Sonos Amp installed in the av closet. I have Sonance outdoor speakers wired to the Sonos Amp and plays music via spotify, sounds great.  I will be adding a tv outdoors, and would like the sound from the tv source played through the Sonos Amp and Sonance outdoor speakers. I have prewired two CAT 6 cables and 2 RG6 coaxial cables to the tv outside (actually have this same prewire run to all three tv’s in the house too - none are connected yet, and each will have separate Sonos audio systems ie arc, beams subs, One etc...). My TV source at this time is from an HDTV antenna, but eventually will want to connect cable. I would like to know how to watch TV from antenna signal and listen to the programs through the Sonance speakers via Amp. The RG6, CAT6, run to the AV closet with the cables prewired in place at each TV location. Happy to answer any questions. My outdoor TV has an eARC HDMI and a Network connection. Can anyone recommend a reliable third-party app or integration that allows me to create custom playlists and control my Sonos speakers more effectively?

I want to plug the output from a sonos connect to a quad 33 ( yes very old) pre amp.  I can’t find out what the output is of the connect and if in need to add in an attenuator. many ideas please ? What is the output from the connect  Thank you   

I recently change my Bell Fibe modem for the Giga model. I have opened only a 2,4GHz channel but still loose almost every day the wifi connection in the Sonos app.

I have two (2) SONOS AMPS (Gen 3) for my outdoor patio sound system.  AMP 1 powers a pair of outdoor NON SONOS speakers.  I want to add the second AMP 2 as a mono amp to power the subwoofer with all 250 Watts.  If I group both AMPS for the same location, can the frequencies be divided to each AMP with the Sonos Application?  I want to send the highs 151-20,000hz to AMP 1 and the lows below 150hz to AMP 2 ? The Sub Out on the AMPs do not provide power and since I have two SONOS AMPS I would rather not buy another Mono Amp just for the sub.  Also, I cannot find a true outdoor active powered Sub that would let me use the Sub Out from the AMPs.  When I say true outdoor, I mean that I can leave inside the landscape in the weather (IP 66 rated or IP 67 rated).

I have a pro-ject debut turntable using a pro-Jett tube box preamp hard wired into a play 5 and wireless to a2nd play 5 for stereo sound. WiFi and router are on the floor directly above with a Sonos boost on it. Playing Spotify and Apple Music is fine but with the turntable in the uncompressed setting I can hear the speakers struggling to stay locked in the highest quality. I’m thinking o might need to go to a receiver with passive speakers and a port for streaming but maybe someone here knows how to get  it to not fluctuate. The signal is strong. One last question, would using a Sonos amp and hardwiring the play 5’s in stereo help? not sure if that’s even possible. Thanks - Tim

Hi all,I have my Sonos ARC connected to my TVs (Sony a95L) eARC port and my receiver connected to the TVs other 2.1 port. I am using the receivers eARC port to connect to the TV. I was under the impression audio from the receiver would pass to the ARC, but that does not happen. The receiver is a Denon x2800h.any suggestions?thanks

Hi, everybodyI have a Livebox router (upnp) and the possibility to plug on it a usb key. Using VLC, It is possible to access through upnp services to the files of the usb key. But I don’t know to add these files on the Sonos library. Could you please give me some clews to add these files.All the bestArnaud

Hi everyone,I have a studio space with high ceilings, 10x7m size. I’m wanting to play immersive sound for yoga etc, and on other occasions use a projector for presentations, movies etc. The layout (using my current speakers) could be 4 x Era300 in each ceiling corner, working as mono and grouped, and I could use beam soundbar for the projector. Ideally I’d use my soundbar, sub and rear Era300s as a surround setup for movies, and then all speakers working as monos for immersive sound when playing music. If I set up the surround as above for movies, will the extra Era300s in the ‘front left and front right’ positions try to play along with the movie (but out of sync) if they’re grouped so I can use them all together for immersive music?Or is the only way to have the sub/beam for movies and grouped mono Era300 x 4 for music? Seems unfortunate to sacrifice the rear surrounds during movies and likewise sacrifice the sub and beam for music playback! Or is there a way…Sorry if that’s hard to

We have a set of Sonos AMP in a house and experience that one of the units is disconnecting the local network. It is all cabeled (LAN).What can the reason be and is there anything I con do to make it more stable ?

I have several Sonos speakers in my home in several different rooms.  I just got a new Sonos speaker that I want to use at my office (not in my home, ie, a completely separate location, wifi network, etc).  I am trying to set up the speaker at the office and I want it to be completely independent of the home system but when I go in to the app it is recognizing that I am on a different wi fi network and asking if I want to connect my products to this network.  I am assuming that means ALL products...including those that are in my home.  How do I set up my new office speaker so that I can see two “systems” (home and office) in my Sonos app?  Please provide step by step instructions. 

I recently purchased a fancy new record player with the intent of playing my vinyl songs through RCA cable to my Connect:AMP gen1 on s1 (can’t upgrade to s2 software) and then actually played through my Play:1 gen1 pair (say they CAN be downgraded to s1 software), I’ve been trying to downgrade the Play:1’s for forever and always throw an errror code and say they can’t be downgraded, I NEED HELP!!!!

Frequently unable to connect Sonus Playbar to network.  Says “unable to connect to Sonus network”.  It seems to connect when it wants and when going through the reconnect or find devices it finds the Playbar but gives the above message.  Tried simultaneously hitting the play and + or - and still getting above message.  Tried unplugging and closing Sonos app and opening - nothing!
