What to get

I have a laptop that i would like to get on my Sonos system. Is it best to buy the new five with a Line in or should it be the port. If i choose the new five would the Sound come out on all my speakers

Hi,I'm looking for a speaker or other solution, that can give me that center speaker effect for my current setup. You know.. to get Nice clear voices in the Sound. My setup right now is: Sonos Amp with 2 third party speakers and a third party subwoofer.  is this possible or is this a lost battle? nicklas

Hi Currently, I purchsed two sonos amps and would like to set up a few in ceiling speakers around my house. I think I'm in need of a speaker selector switch to control the volume outputs, do you have any reccomendation on something with 6 or more zones?1 zone - for the theater room 1 zone - for outside 1 zone - den 1 zone - master bedroom 1 zone - kitchen   

0 repliesHiim looking for recommendations for best most suitable Sonos set up for our morning room which runs into the galley kitchenthe Morning Room is 12ft x 12ft and the kitchen is 17ft x 9ft. At the moment I just listen to music and radio on a 2nd gen play 5. We are putting a tv in the morning room and I’d like stereo sound, I’d also like the option of having a speaker at the far kitchen end for when I just want music or radio in the kitchen. It’s rare that the music is played at any great volume, just want the quality therefore thinking of Sonos Beam with Alexa under the tv, poss 2 x SL Ones in the morning room and then 1 x SL One at the far end of the kitchen, and then sell the play 5. I gave an arc in my living room but don’t want to spend that much on the set up for these two rooms. any thoughts/ suggestions for the best system for this room combination  thanksdave 

I’ve been a Sonos user at my primary home for over 10 years, having a very simple Sonos setup that works well for me since I already had a high end stereo system. However, I now live up to 50% time in a second location - a 1 bedroom flat. I’d like to port my music there as follows: attach an external HD with the Sonos music files to a generally idle computer and play it via Sonos without benefit of a stereo system.A friend has volunteered to give me her old S1 components, but I don’t understand the set-up without a conventional stereo & stereo speakers to know whether I could put something simple together from what she has (and which components I should claim). My modem/router is a different room than the one where my speakers would be, so I assume that I would need a Sonos bridge. I have a good quality pair of Bose computer speakers if that would be useful, but have no other stereo equipment other than a cheap 1-piece stereo for playing music on an iPod (so of no use for Sonos). I

I currently have a bridge (8-9 years old) needed for outdoor speakers. It’s my only component that operates under the S1 app and, ideally, I would like all components under S2 now. What is the appropriate piece to buy...a port or boost? I’m assuming port but I’m not finding the answers I need. Or is there another option? 

I like many others over the years have invested thousands of pounds in sonos. I am completely fed up with sonos removing my ability to get updates deeming  my system archaic, always being asked to upgrade or buy new with 30% discount!.my sound bar and subwoofer are now in a box in the garage! Not good enough Sonos! I invested Thousands in your product to be let down!!!!!!

Support staffs was great in handling my issues regarding blown sonos play:1 and offer replacement under warranty. I promptly shipped my device back to SONOS and was received by them within 3 days as per tracking number provided. Since then, I have not heard back. The email said that i should have received the replacement in a week but its been already more than 2 weeks and i have not got my replacement neither any communications. IS IT NORMAL? When i called support they say the issue has been escalated but havenot been able to provide updates regarding whats going on but just standard reply that we have received the product and the case been escalated. Hi I am building a surround sound set-up from scratch but my priority is invisibility (small children destroy things).My plan is:Arc = Front L/R + CentreAmp = Rear L/R (Sonance In-Wall)Sub = SubFrom reading things on this forum and the Sonos FAQs I think this set-up will work and will be compatible with TruePlay...am I correct?Thanks from a beginner!

I have two Sonos play One & two Sonos play 5 all Gen 1. Also have playbar. Am wondering what subwoofer is compatible. Using S1 app as S2 app isn’t compatible with Play5/gen1. Thoughts please? 

Hello,I have the Arc for my family room set up which is a larger room with high ceilings. I am looking to upgrade my basement set up with either another Arc or get the Beam. The room is much smaller which leads me to my question. Would the Arc be overkill or would the Beam work for smaller room. The Arc is amazing but it seems to be too powerful for a smaller man cave area. Leave me with some thoughts or suggestions!Thanks

Hi Sonos novice here, got a big birthday coming up and want to treat myself. I can't decide on whether to get 2 x Roam or a Move speaker. I want to be able to take music in the garden at a reasonable sound level, but blast it in the house? Can anybody advise what is best to get, and/or how loud 2 x Roam are.......thanks.

I recently purchased the Sonos Surround Set. The Arc wasn't working, so I ordered a replacement. I've now had some time to play about with the system. My thoughts: 1) The sound quality is good, but I'm not blown away. I only get a "Wow!" feeling when listening to Dolby Atmos test footage. Now, I realise that sound quality depends on the source, but I wasn't blown away by Blu-Rays and Netflix films that supposedly have good sound quality. 2) The sub seems to make no difference. It is definitely connected and active, but there's no difference when I switch it off and on.  3) The rear speakers (Sonos Ones) are good, but I find that I have to be really close to them to get the benefit. This might be a personal thing. When it comes to the rear speakers, I don't really want a subtle sound that you hear occasionally. I want to feel like I'm in the middle of the film. 4) Night Mode seems to make no difference. Voice Enhancement seems to make no difference. 5) I tested T2 Judgment Day on Blu Ra

I've had a couple Sonos Play:1 (old gen, no airplay) for some years and I really like the controller and the fact that it integrates multiple streaming services I use (Spotify, Tidal, Soundcloud, Bandcamp, Mixcloud, Pocket Casts...). I also have a flash drive attached to the router with .mp3 and .flac files which is also available within the app, so it can all be controlled from a single app.After moving a lot I have finally settled and decided to get a decent HiFi. I've made some research and talked to friends and staff at good HiFi shops in my town and finally decided to get a Bluesound Node 2i, a Cambridge Audio CXA60 and a pair of Wharfedale Evo 4.2. How many in ceiling speakers pre-wires should I place in the Kitchen-Breakfast-Family room layout below? And what should be the position/installation layout?  Thank you   Will below placement work? 

First of all; I am totally new to Sonos and have never owned a Sonos product before. After reading good reviews, I was thinking of getting 3x Sonos One for a hotel lobby. We are aiming to just play relaxing background music so I thought they would be perfect to syncronize them through some different rooms. However, I am a bit concerned that guests might be able to connect to the speakers and play their own music. If I establish a second WiFi and connect the Sonos to them, and disable Alexa/Google Assistant, will that be enough to avoid people from connecting, or can they still connect through cast/airplay?

Hi, I have a pair of Sonos Play:1 speaker which have been of limited use due to limited connectivity (no AirPlay support and requirement to get premium plans on Spotify/ and other streaming services via Sonos App)With the new Roam and AirPlay and/or bluetooth support - can I :AirPlay from iphone to Roam which then pairs & relays to Play:1 Connect fireTV to Roam (bluetooth) which then relays to Play:1Option 2 is to use Sonos S1 instead of Roam - with the downside that S1 does not gives you the portability of Roam

So the Roam is supposed to have a “swap” ability (swap music to and from another Sonos speaker) - by pressing and holding the play button.   But what if I want to press and hold the play button on the Roam to “group” with other speakers already playing in the house  - as I can do now with other Sonos speakers (not swap). Is that still possible with the Roam using the press/hold on play (if so, how is that differentiated from the “swap” function)?   I know the app could do this regardless, but wondering if you can group a Roam by holding the play button (instead of opening the app)?  

Hi, Just a quick question. I’ve apply to use the Sonos Upgrade Programme but wondered what happens a to your product? Do you lose functionality or software upgrade etc? Does Sonos stop support? thanks K
