I’m considering buying something like Cambridge audio Evo 75 or Cambridge cxn v2. Question is: if I connect any of these devices from pre out to play 5 line in, I’ll be using the Sonos dac? How will sound quality would be versus direct streaming from iPad ?
Yes, any line in on a Sonos device is analog, and goes to the Sonos ADC for digitizing so it can be sent to any other Sonos speakers across your network. But I suspect you would not be able to tell any difference between direct streaming via AirPlay 2 vs using the line in.
