What to get

Hi, I currently have a surround sound setup that consists of 5 speakers (centre, 2 front and 2 rear) wired through a receiver.  With universal remotes being phased out and smart TVs recognizing inputs we are finding it more and more complicated to maintain this setup.  I am considering purchasing a sound bar and if I understand correctly I can then continue to use my wired rear speakers if I also purchase an amp.  I actually have an older connect amp that is not getting much use (that is currently set up in a different room). What I am wondering is if I can use this connect amp with a new sound bar or is this not possible because it is on the old  Sonos ‘system’ and a a new sound bar would be on the new app/system?thanks

Hi!  I am thinking about getting my first turntable.  I want one of ProJects turntable cause of the built in preamp. But what type and model?  And also: what shoul i buy of the port and amp? Whats the big difference? Somewhere down the road i might want to buy new speakers, and a different brand than Sonos.

I'm about to go ahead with upgrading my Play:1 in favour of the One SL. They look pretty much the same, so does anyone know if the speaker stands that I have for my Play:1 will fit just the same for the One SL?I've tried searching, but only seem to come up with the most inappropriate of answers!Thanks in advance.

Hi All, I am new to Sonos having stripped an old wired multiroom system out of the house. I just purchased a bundle 1 x ARC, 2  x Sonos 5, 1 x Sub with the intention of using the Arc and Sub for the TV room (possibly adding 2 X Sonos 1 for 5.1) and using the 2 X 5’s is a large living room solely for music.I haven’t set anything up yet as the hose is being decorated but I am wondering after some further reading if the better option for the music in the living room would be 2 X 1’s + Sub rather than 2 X 5. Both the 5’s or 1’s would be on speaker stands about 10 ft apart. From an aesthetic view I think the 2 X 1’s would be better but I am a low level audiophile and soundstage/quality will be the more significant factor.I have spoken to the supplier and as all boxed I can switch out the 2 5’s for 2 1’s + Sub for a very small additional cost.All thoughts and opinions welcome, thanks!

I have a fairly small TV room - 12 ft x 13 ft, with 8 ft ceiling and the main seating position 10 ft from the TV.  The room is fully enclosed.  Also, the TV is in a built-in cabinet with the main part 51 inches wide (pictures here). That would only leave 3 inches on either side if I place the Arc there. That is lower than the 4.5 inches recommended. It is somewhat offset by the fact that the front 1” or so of the Arc would be positioned in front of the cabinet wall (you can see the lip in the cabinet picture ).  I am wondering if I would be able to get the surround effect of the Arc given the cabinet and low-ish ceiling. Or would I be better off with a Beam 2?  

I have currently x 1 Sonos Play:5 (Gen 1) and three Sonos Play:1s all of which I cant use with the new software and cant paly things like BBC Sounds or Airplay. If I was to get a new Sonos IE the portable one can I use the New Software and play say BBC sounds through this and through the other older speakers?David Moderator Edit: clarified current models owned.

Wondering whether to use the upgrade program to move from a Beam (Gen 1) to a Beam (Gen 2). I’d originally been planning on getting a pair of Ikea Symfonisks to flesh-out a surround system for watching films. But I’m wondering whether the Atmos in the second-gen Beam might actually be a more efficient (and/or cost-effective) way of achieving a surround sound experience, in a relatively small room. Can anyone speak to the effectiveness of Atmos on this new Beam?

Hi there,I realise that what I’m asking may not be doable but if anyone can answer they’re likely to be here.  Here goes:I live in a small house in Melbourne Australia and would love to invest in quality speakers and sound but ideally don’t want to have to buy a different set of speakers for each of my audio uses.  I’m wanting to know if there’s a sonos setup that could achieve my aims.  I want my speakers / setup to:connect to the tv for a home theatre experience. play music from a turntable. stream music eg spotify.   AND last but not least play audio from my computer / audio interface.  Ideally this would include being able to be done “live” eg using a program like Ableton where I am performing / writing music tracks on the fly.My sense is I could probably do the first three pretty easily - I would need Port / Amp or Five to be able to play the turntable.  I am leaning towards getting the Sonos Arc for the TV but would be open to two Sonos One or two Sonos Five if that could work in

I am looking for non Sonos speaker suggestions for use with the Sonos Amp. I already have a pair of the outdoor Sonance speakers in my yard connected to an Amp, and other than having to crank the volume up to 50% to be able to hear them , I am satisfied with their sound.I was looking at the in-wall / in-ceiling sets, but they are way to large for use in my kitchen. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. ThanksBob  

Hello,  I am wondering if I can use Sonos one sl in a 30x15x6 m2 warehouse, the construction is made from metal insulated sandwitch panels. Here we are going to open a motorcycle clothing store and I am looking for a solution for backround music. We need to be able to speak to the customers which are going to visit us but at the same time i would like to hear a nice sound :)What do you think can i get a decent result out of 6-8 Sonos one sl? Do I need also a Sonos Sub? I made a test today with a JBL Xtreme 2 which I borrowed from a friend (I hang it at 3 m height near one of the walls) but I was not impressed maybe because the space is so big and all the walls are metallic. Thank you in advance for your help. Ionut

If I participate in the new (Oct 2021) SONOS upgrade program does that brick my old speaker that I’m upgrading or can I still use it?  I’m thinking of getting a MOVE but not sure i wish to pay $400.Thanks - Mark

I currently have 6-ish devices passing HDMI through a 4k Yamaha receiver, sound to Polk Audio speakers.  I’m considering getting rid of all of the speakers in lieu of a Sonos soundbar and sub.  I still need to be able to pass my video signals through the receiver as my Samsung does not have enough HDMI ports to support all of my devices.   Is there a way to make that work and still play audio from all of those devices through a Sonos system? If not, what are my other options?   Thanks ahead. 

Hi all,I ordered a Sonos Move on September 9th, with an estimated shipping date of October 22nd. I emailed support this week and got back a “it should ship in the next couple of weeks” reply but nothing specific for a timeline. Today I got an email from support saying that “due to high demand and inventory constraints” they wont be able to fulfill my order by its originally estimated date (last week).  Has anyone else had a similar problem? When should i expect to get my product?Drew W.

Hi guys I own an old play:3 and two ones. The ones are in the living room as stereo pair and the sonos 3 is in the kitchen. I don’t want voice control. I have an oled tv that may benefit from a soundbar. Right now I’m somewhat confused on how to expand the system. The main thing for me is being able to listen to music on Spotify but get that rich and crisp sound I sometimes hear in bars or restaurants even at low volume. Can’t describe it any better.  Should I:1. fill up my living room with sonos ones everywhere? With one sub for bass? this seems to be the closest to the setup I see in bars and restaurants  get one arc / beam and use the ones as back speakers? How would this setup perform playing music?  add a second hand play3 and a sub for bass? Maybe use the two ones as tweeters? Wouldn’t I run into legacy problems with the 3? 4. Just get two fives and use the ones elsewhere in the house (bathroom, attic)?your input is greatly appreciated         

Hi im going to purchase a Sonos arc for my LG tv 49UH661V  and I’m hesitant on getting because I’m afraid the picture and the sound will not be in sync when using the sky Q box. I have read that this is something that cannot be fixed and I also seen my brothers tv at the weekend and he has the arc and it’s not in sync with tv which makes it very frustrating and he has tried all but failed to solve.ive a Sonos sound bar for 5 years and have no problems and want to upgrade to the arc but I’m afraid to spend the money and it not to be in synccould you please let me know if my tv will have the same problem or if there is a solution many thanks 

I am currently building and have a ok-sized family room/kitchen space. The living room space is approximately 22’ wide x 18’ deep. If I add the kitchen it is 22’ wide x 36’ deep. I am trying to plan for the space. I imagine pairing my ARC and Sonos Sub with a Sonos AMP that connects to in ceiling Sonance speakers. My question is do I add 2 pairs (QTY 4) Sonance in ceiling speakers or 1 pair (QTY 2) for my living room space? I considered doing 3 pairs (QTY 6) total Sonance in ceiling speakers with the one AMP in the entire kitchen/family room space, but figured I would like to treat more as two zones (one family room 2 pairs, and one kitchen 1 pair), but I know multiple zones on one amp is not possible.  Which of the following would make more sense: For the family room (22’ wide x 18’ deep); Sonos ARC, Sonos Sub, Sonos AMP, Sonance In-ceiling 1 pair (QTY 2) --- For the kitchen; Sonos AMP, Sonance In-ceiling 1 pair (QTY 2)orFor the family room (22’ wide x 18’ deep); Sonos ARC, Sonos Sub,

I have the Sonos 1 and at cocktail hour I bring it outside in my Tiki Hut to play music. The sound is good but I would love to have surround sound somehow. I thought that since it’s bluetooth maybe there are 3 smaller speakers I can connect wirelessly to the Sonos but there doesn’t seem to be. Each time I’ve researched the only answer seems to be is buy more Sonos 1’s but at over $200 a pop that’s not feasible. Any suggestions?ThanksBill in Florida

Hi,I just started using Sonos Speaker One Gen 2 than i made quick research for the Dolby atmos and so and so than i remark i need buy Sonos Beam Gen 2 or Sonos Arc products but i have a complicated problem :(As i understood Sonos Beam Gen2 or Sonos Arc doesn’t provide Dolby Atmos via AirPlay 2 so i have projection setup at my home and it’s cell mounted with no ARC Support ? as i understood i can connect my apple tv4K directly to sonos beam 2 or sonos arc than as a out to my projection hdmi ? even my projection doesn’t support ARC hdmi ?Isn’t it any solution for Wireless Dolby Atmos AirPlay 2 or something like that ?

I have a Play 5 I think it’s Gen1, never really used it and wanted to sell it, is it even worth doing so?

I just thought that I would share my experience, I am currently listening to The Marias, Cinima on Vinyl through Sonos Five paired with x2 play:1 stereo  connected to a Fluance RT84. I am in Audiophile heaven. I haven't experienced nothing like this before and would like to say a simple “thank you” to Sonos for making this possible. Hi everyone -I am looking to refine our home theater setup with a full Sonos surround sound system, and I could use a bit of advice.  I’ve seen pieces of this in other threads, but hoping someone can validate my plan here before I start ordering equipment.Currently I have a BENQ TK800 projector with a Chromecast with Google TV, wired to the line-in on a Sonos Connect feeding to our vintage Macintosh stereo receiver.  I want to go full surround and as wireless as possible.
