What to get

With the current 15% off promotion, I am tempted to get a Playbase or a Playbar ...but I am not sure which would be the best.. In our set-up, we have a wall mounted TV but just below that is a glass/metal shelf unit that houses an old Bose system (rarely used as my wife doesn't like the surround sound), a Sky HD box, a PC and a router. As the Bose will be going - I could either mount a Playbar on the wall between the TV and the unit - or get a Playbase and place this on top, or inside the unit. Is there any noticeable sound quality differences between the bar and the base? Any other differences?

I have a "technics SL 1700" turntable which I will connect to an amp (not moving the amp cross country as it isn't worth it.) Advice on connecting to Sonos system. (I already have sonos 1 up and running for digital media)

I'm setting up 3 zones in our house with in ceiling speakers. Two of the zones will be 4 speakers, one zone will be 2 speakers. Mix of speakers as two of the zones will be a retrofit from existing install. I'm trying to figure out if I should buy the Connect Amp, or the Connect with a small amp for each zone? I'm leaning toward the connect + small separate amps as it'll be cheaper and give me more flexibility with speakers/matching volumes despite different speakers. Any suggestions on what will be best?

Hi. I've recently joined the Sonos family. I've got two play5 units. One in one room, one in the other. For my TV/video/media area, I'd ideally like to make a nice stereo pair out of my system - rather than just having one in that area. The sound a single play5 makes is amazing, but I am fairly confident a stereo pair will be effortlessly better for TV/movie viewing. I suppose my question is - given I've already dropped significant money onto 2 * play5's already, and the Play5 Gen2 is a device from 2015 - am I in imminent danger of a new speaker being released very shortly and I've really poured a lot of money into an end of life product? I have several Sonos speaker systems throughout our home. We also have direct wired speakers running into a Sonos Amp in a part of our home. The rest of the home is wired to a Russound A H4D Hub. In order to connect our Sonos system to that Hub, I need to use Analog In & Out jacks. Can I put a Sonos Connect between our Sonos Amp and the Hub? If so, how will I control the music system using my Sonos Ap?

I have 4 play1s and a PLAYBAR. Play1 in the kitchen. Play1 in the entryway. Pair of play1s in the bedroom and a PLAYBAR in the great room connected to the tv. I have been wanting a play5 since I heard the sound. Amazing. I was thinking to put a play5 in the bedroom and move the stereo set of play1s to the great room to do a 5.0 surround set up. It's not a huge bedroom but it isn't small. Will I miss the stereo separation? Now I see the sub is on sale. It had me thinking I could add a sub to the PLAYBAR and keep the 1s in the bedroom. I can't afford both at the moment. I have been very happy with just the PLAYBAR in the great room. I was never interested in the sub but I keep reading on this sub (lol) how amazing it is. Hi. I'm looking to set up a system and am having some trouble deciding between multiple Sonos Amps or a Sonos Connect and a separate 6 zone amplifier. I own a Sonos PlayBar and a Sonos Amp. They are used in a room in which I'm about to install in wall speakers for the rear channels for 5:1 sound. I have 5 other rooms that have ancient/broken in wall/in ceiling speakers which I'm replacing. All wiring drops down to a central point. I'd like to have 5:1 sound in the theater room and plan to use the bar, sub and in wall rears there. I'd like whole house audio capability in the other rooms and live Sonos interface, simplicity, etc. Top priority is ease of use for family. Not too distant second priority is price but have some flexibility here. Third priority is neat features (playing different music in rooms, adjusting volume separately, etc.). Can/should I be thinking about multiple Sonos Amps or can/should I effectively do this with a Connect and a six zone amplifier? Other con

Hi. So i am currently in the process of renovating my house and I would like to create a 3 zone sound system. Zone 1 would be my 5.1 surround sound system (Sonos 5:1 Home Theater). Zone 2 would be my outside patio area where I will have Polk RC80i in ceiling speakers along with a TV, and Zone 3 will be solely for playing music in my kitchen/dining room. I would like to know what equipment would be necessary to run this setup? Zone 1 (Home Theater I think is pretty straight forward), but I am not sure what equipment to use for Zones 2 and 3. If I had to guess Zone 2 would consist of a Sonos Amp, and the speaker wires would run to the Sonos Amp. Now if I wanted to have the sound from my TV come through the in-ceiling speakers what types of wires would I require, and do they get plugged directly into the Sonos Amp? Lastly for Zone 3 would I just require two Play:1 speakers, or would I also need the Sonos Connect? Apologies for the multi layered question, but I want to make sure

Hi there, This is the situation. I have a old Bose Lyfestyle 38 home theater which in my opinion sounds very well so I decided to recycle it with a sonos connect in my studio. The thing Is that I'm just using 2 of the 5 "pairs" of acoustimass speakers on that setup son I basically have 3 pairs of acoustimass speakers unused. Do you guys think Is worth getting a sonos connect amp to take advantage of those speakers?...I will need something else like a subwoofer or maybe any other configuration that you think might work?. Hi all, I'm new so go gentle! I was given a play:3 as a present for xmas. Loved the sound so much today I bought a sub and another play:3 both arrive tomorrow. My plan is to use it for mostly music but I would love to be able to use the set up through my Sony Bravia tv. Is there anyway I can connect it or am I going to be disappointed? I've read people saying that only a 5 has the input etc so I'm fully aware. I just hoped I could use it for watching tv also. Thanks in advance! Samzie

Would love to get some help/advice. Just moved into a new house with pre-existing wired speakers. 1) 5 in-ceiling speakers in family room (part of home theater set-up) 2) 2 in-ceiling speakers in kitchen (adjacent/open to family room) 3) 4 outdoor speakers All speaker wires terminate in one central location. I don't know the specs of the various speakers, but I assume the in-ceiling speakers won't require much power. I would like to purchase an AVR and Sonos Connect. I do not need to play each area independently. All I need is to be able to "turn off" different sections (e.g. watch a movie using #1, but not have #2 or #3 on, or have #1 and #2 playing the same music with #3 off, or have all 3 playing the same music at the same time). Independent volume control would be great since turning up outdoor music might be too loud indoors. Any suggestions on the type of receiver to properly integrate Sonos Connect across all 11 speakers. I am about to hire a projector to use to watch a movie but I am wondering if there is any way I can connect sonos to use for the sound of the movie? Kathy

My folks are setting up a bar area at their new home. It'll have a 60' wall mounted TV and mainly be used for watching sports, though they'd also like to be able to play music there. They are Sonos-experienced in a previous home and have found it easy to use, which for them is a miracle. The bar area is outdoors near the pool, though the TV area will be covered to the elements. Ideally the music would reach the pool area, which starts less than 10 feet away and is only about 20 feet long. What I'm thinking is mount a Playbar under the TV to get proper sound for the sports games. This can then play music for the pool area as well. I'll put a Sonos boost in the house to ensure the signal can pass outdoors. My question is, is it worth wall mounting two Play 1s (or better) on the wall for music purposes? Would the play 1s be able to receive the TV sound from the Playbar? Would it matter, seeing as the Playbar is the left, right and centre channel anyway? Really it's all about the

From what I have read the sonos speakers have a good reputation, sorry if my questions seem daft but I am after a dab+ radio that is compatable alongside the speakers. I am looking for a radio that not only can be used on the internet but also one that can be used on it's own ( in case the internet goes down) I would like to have the radio in say , the bedroom and then have sonos speakers in say, the kitchen and lounge playing the same music , so that my wife can have music all around the house,( I suppose a multi room system) , but if I am going to have decent speakers I would then like a decent radio to go with them. I don't think sonos make a radio as such but suggest plugging into a current one, whereasI would like a seperate set up.

Hi l have a sonos that l haven't used for about 2 years. I have tried to use it and there's now nothing. I have a small white box thing with a button with two arrows on. I have a slightly larger box with a mute button, and then volume button. The light on this is a solid yellow/orange colour. I then have two black speakers both have a solid white light. My app says there is no system connected. Please help as l do t know what to do 😞

Having a birthday party in a banquet hall. It seats about 250 (have no measurements). One big room. Dance floor on one side which is about a third of the room but want to setup music throughout. I have 3 Play:1s now. I know this isn't a lot of info to go on, but I wanted to add to my setup and hope for the best. I was thinking of taking the 3 Play:1s and using them for the back wall and two side walls. For the dance floor area, should I purchase a single Play:3 (mono) or two more Play:1s and put them in stereo mode? I can't do two Play:3s in stereo so don't go there. 🙂 Any other suggestions? Hey all - has anyone had experience mounting a Play 3 from the ceiling, whether on a hard mount or flown from ceiling rafters? I have not found a mount that would make this possible, but I'd love to do this on a restaurant install... Thanks!

Hi folks I have 41 sqm kitchen/diner and thinking about getting a pair of Play 3 to set up as stereo.. What I am trying to understand before putting an order – will a pair of Play 3s be enough for this area or I better consider two Play 5s instead (or a single Play 5)? Another question about positioning… I am thinking about putting them under the ceiling (I‘ve heard it is better to put speakers on ear level but I have two small kinds constantly running around and it is currently not an option..) above glass doors – marked with red circles with number 1 on the pic, or in the middle of the room one opposite each other - marked with green circles with number 2. A guy in the shop said positioning at green spots will be better as it will be in the middle of the room and so the sound will be more even however I am not sure how (and if) stereo will work in this case.. I never had a hifi music set up before and quite a novice in this area so any advice is welcome! Many thanks

Threatening to slowly brick my expensive speakers if I don't accept your heavy handed new 'terms' is a complete load of crap. I paid for this and it should continue to work even if I don't opt-in to whatever crazy policy you decide to do in the future. I used to recommend sonos to everyone and that will now certainly stop. Hi! I have now owned the play 5 for a couple a weeks and I like it a lot, but I didn't realized how good it was until I moved it to a smaller room in my house. The bass really come out and the sound quality was amazing. However, in my kitchen/dining/living room which is over 60 sqm (645 sqf) its closer to mediocre in terms of sound quality. The high's and mids are still decent but the bass is pretty much non existens, especially over 50 % volume. And I often need to raise the volume to over 90 % to fill the room with music. It seems like its going to be more expensive then I thought to get a rich sound in such a big room. I don't want to return the play 5 since I love the usability and the sound quality when in smaller rooms, but I feel like I need to to something because of the size of my main living area where most of my listening is happening. I'm looking into options for a sound system in a large bar/restaurant that hasn't been built yet. Have full control over the network, construction, wiring, etc. We'll have a lot of TVs (10-15), we'll likely be in control of the music as opposed to the customers. At home, I have a Playbar and 3 One's. I've used the Three + Five before. My home setup is wireless and sometime cuts out in a very obnoxious way. So I have a few questions: 1.) If everything is wired via ethernet, will that solve the problems of sync/cutting out between speakers? 2.) Is there a way to disable remote access to the devices if I want to keep it ethernet ONLY. 3.) Is there a way to broadcast sound without the controller app? Like.. via an audio jack/phone? 4.) I have a projector, PlayStation, turntable, and Apple TV hooked into a receiver via HDMI. Is there a product that will allow me to use my Sonos network as the audio for all of this?

I'm aware that Sonos doesn't natively support WMA lossless, and due to processing power and/or licensing issues probably never will. However, I own a large-ish collection in that format (about 60% of a library of around 12,000 songs, the remainder are lossy from my wife's collection), and several media players whose preferred format is WMA lossless, including the three rooms where I have sufficient quality amplification and speakers for the difference to be noticeable. I'm interested in using the Sonos Connect (probably a few of them) to feed my Niles Auriel multi-room system, and in the rooms this will be used for largely don't matter if I'm using 320 kbps MP3 or a lossless format. So, I'm wondering if there's a method of transcoding on the fly and feeding it to Sonos, or would using Sonos and keeping WMA lossless for other locations mean that I'd have to maintain two separate libraries?
