What to get

Using Sonos play bar with two Play 1s. Instead of investing in a Sonos sub, I was wondering if the bass on a new Play 5 would do the trick.

I have used moved into a new house, and the developers have had ceiling speakers installed in every room but haven't connected them to anything. We just have the wires in our under stairs cupboard. I am unsure on what kit I need to buy in order to make them work- people keep telling me a 'sonos system' but I imagine there are other connecting things I need to buy too?

Hey everyone, So i have a play:1 right now and i'm looking at exchanging it for the sonos one. Question: in trying to make my house more smart connected i'm looking at getting a nest or other smart thermostat, maybe some Philips hue bulbs.. We're an Apple house so homekit compatibility would be nice. Will the sonos one work with all this? or will i need to get the homepod, or google home?? I also read that play:1 and sonos one can't be synced to play in stereo? What other info am i missing here?? Thanks

Hi guys, I already own a Play 3 and I'm really happy with it. Now I want to put a nice Audio system into my garage. It's quite big, 30x30 meters. I'm really not sure what to buy. The only thing I'm sure about is the Subwoofer. Is it recommendable to only use the same models in one room? Or can I for example put one Play5 and two Play1? I was planning to get 4 Play1's (one for each corner) but I'm not sure if they will be strong enough for the big room. It's a garage but also partly an entertainment room, so there will be a lot of music. I do not use the boxes for watching movies or something like that. So I don't need surround sound, just music in the whole room. Are there any recommendations on room sizes and what box to get? I find it really hard to decide whether to put two Play1's or one Play3... I guess I will put a CAT5 cable to one box and connect the other ones via Wi-Fi. Or is it recommendable to control all of them via cable if possible? Thanks in advance

Looking for a birthday present for my husband. Want to get started on a Sonos system in the house. We have a very open concept house. Living room, dining and kitchen all open to one another. Ethernet cable only comes in by tv in living room. WiFi throughout but we have century link dsl internet which isn’t amazing all the time. One bedroom on this floor we’d also like sound in. (Potentially one bathroom as well.) **The components needed for this floor is what I’d like to start with.** Eventually we want to be able to add surround and speakers to our family room in the basement. (And speakers to our kids rooms so they can play their own music as they desire.) I’d also like to add a turntable down the road - but am open to either integrated with the sound system in the basement or with the first floor. What do I want to get started? All, I am doing up my whole house and need to lower the ceiling 5cm to create a service space for cat6/electric etc. I want to have Sonos in the bathroom, should I wire in a Play 3 (plus outside the bathroom, speaker inside) or have ceiling speakers and a connect:amp? I love the sound of the Play3 so wondering if 50mm deep ceiling speakers can compete and also wondering is there is any restriction/downside on having the Play3 in the bathroom? Thanks in advance.

I've read too many forums and have my self confused. Below are my details and questions. Any input would be extremely helpful! Speaker Locations: 1. 3 zones w/ two speakers each: Kitchen, Dining Room and Back Patio. The wires for these three zones terminate in a utility closet near the kitchen and family room. 2. Home Theatre: 5.1 surround setup, with the two rear speakers in the ceiling. The wires for these speakers all terminate in a cabinet by the TV in the family room. Other / Misc. Info: 1. Trying to decide which speakers to get for my backyard (pool area), i only want to put 2 of them either 2 atrium (1 pair) or 2 atrium 8 (1 pair) the atriums 8 have the capability for dual input making them a load speakers (Single stereo speaker), not sure how big of a benefit this is outdoor but it does sound interesting Ill ordered the sonos amp, so not sure what would be my best option 🙂

I have a record player that has a pre amp connected to it, and it is currently plugged into my home theater system. I would like to keep this setup, since the sound quality is really good, but I would like to have the ability to play my records on other rooms on the house, or Spotify (or a combination). Is it possible and what is the right setup for it? Thanks!

I bought some Sanus wall mounts for my Play 1's, and while they're good, at certain levels, the bracket rattles, and the actual mount on the wall vibrates. Im beyond aggravated. Anyone have any tips, suggestions?

I'm considering using the connect:amp to drive my 20 year old Linn AV5140s. The Linn documentation says the amp must deliver at least 60W/4Ohms. Anyone with thoughts or experience using the connect:amp and older high-end floor standing speakers like the 5140s?

Looking for thoughts on what to buy for my first Sonos purchase. Narrowed it down to either a PLAY:3, or doubling up some PLAY:1's. Here's some facts about the room I want to setup in, as well as my listening habits: -Master Bedroom, roughly 12 x 14 feet. -I mostly listen to rock from the last several decades (60's all the way up to current stuff). I also do enjoy some Sinatra style music from time to time. With that said, what would YOU recommend I purchase for my first setup? I'm open to and welcome any opinions here 🙂

Hi - recently bought a Sonos One which I'm very impressed with and inevitably am thinking about getting more. However, I bought it for my small home office which is only 12ft x 8 ft - the Sonos sits on one corner of my desk which is 5ft x 2.5ft. Is it worth getting another for such a small space? I've often read that just a single One fills a small room adequately and I agree but it's tempting to have stereo of course. Or should I just get another for the kitchen?! Any thoughts?

Hello everyone, I’m new. Please go easy on me. I’ve searched and not quite found the right question and answer, so here goes... I have 3 Play:1 units and a Playbar which I’m very happy with. I’d like to use Alexa and was gutted to find that the Play:1 doesn’t have a mic. I understand I can get an Echo Dot for £50 to overcome this, and will then be able to use Alexa to control the speakers. But... does this mean that I’ll need to buy a Dot for every room I want to speak in? Then it would be £150... and I might be better off starting to replace the Play:1’s instead? If I buy a Dot I presume I can connect to my ‘old’ Play:1’s (only bought a year ago or so - sob!) and will have to use the Dot for controlling other smart devices. But if I upgrade the Play:1’s to Sonos One’s bit by bit, I think I will eventually just be able to talk to the new Sonos One’s and never need to get an Amazon device at all. So I'm planning a back yard wedding , im looking to use sonos as my Music system right now I have a pair of play 1's . I'm debating what to get to boost the system as I don't think they will be enough any advice would be appreciated thanks

We are just getting into setting up a Sonos system in a new home. So far we have a couple of P1's upstairs in a bedroom and a bathroom but now we are trying to decide what to add on our main floor kitchen + living room. They are essentially one space, only separated by a freestanding double-sided fireplace. No wall in between them at all. The kitchen is 20' x 24' and flows right into the living room which is 20' x 16'. So total square footage at about 800 SF. Was considering either getting two P3's and putting one in the kitchen on top of the cabinets and the other in the living room OR getting one P5 and putting it on top of a cabinet that is closest to the living rroom and angling it out towards both the kitchen and living room. Thoughts??

I listen to music constantly (in every room of the house), and entertain a lot / throw parties. How would you setup the condo in the pictures? What speakers should I buy and how should I place them? Hi there fellow Sonos fans! I currently have a 2nd gen play5 and looking for a new setup for my TV (the old TV is going to be replaced aswell!). The play5 is placed in the same room but in the kitchen/dining area and I want the new setup to be groped with the play5 for music/parties etc. Btw I love the play5 and I don´t want to get rid of it! So I have a few options here: 1) Sonos playbar placed above the shelf (see pic) and a sonos sub. Is the suggested placement of the playbar any good? Unfortunately there isn't enough space to put the playbar anywhere else due to the size of the new TV. The playbase won't fit either. 2) Sonos connect amp + a pair of passive bookshelf speakers. I heard there could be a slight audio delay caused by this setup? Is that still a problem with new TV's? 3) A pair of active speakers (or a passive pair with a separate amp) + Sonos connect 4) Get rid of the play5 and go for a Heos/Bluesound setup with their respectively "Connect amp" with opti

Currently in my living room, I have two Play 1s in stereo which I love very much. In the same living room, I have a Klipsch soundbar connected to the TV via digital optical cable, and it's wireless subwoofer which work together via bluetooth. I also like how the TV sounds with that set up, and it even sounds pretty amazing when we're watching YouTube music videos on the TV. So right now I have one set up for music (the Play 1s), and another set up for the TV (Klipsch). My question is, can I bring those together via a connect without any delay. Could I bring the Play 1s into my TV viewing audio and the Klipsch into my streaming music experience? I would love a bit more bass when I stream Spotify and wouldn't mind the Play 1s to play the TV sound too I suppose. Otherwise, I thought about adding a Play 5 (specifically for a tad more bass and to line in my turntable). Obviously I could add a Sonos subwoofer, and or a playbase or playbar. But could a connect help me for now?

Hi all, been lurking for a while and after getting a bit of money for my birthday recently and then some more for Christmas, I'm considering getting my first Sonos and was looking for some advice. I already have an Amazon Echo plus and an Echo so looking to integrate whatever I get into this. I'm just trying to decide whether to get a Play 1 or a One. I might stretch to a pair of Play 1s or another One at a later date if I went that way but am wondering which direction to go. Is there any benefit to a One if I already have Alexa on my Echo devices? Is the One a better speaker than the Play 1 or are they they same/similar? I welcome your advice/opinions.

I am after some advice on a NAS drive to hold my music that I can access through the SONOS app. I ask the question as I just purchased a WD 'My Cloud' 3tb with the intention of installing Plex on it, but once opened, it became apparent that the app was not available and I am thinking of sending it back. So, just need some advice on what is recommended please, do I send this one back and get a different one and if so what one? Any advice is much appreciated

Is there any way to connect a TV optical audiio out to a Sonos system apart from a playbar ? i,e, is the Optical connection on a 'connect' out only rather than in ? Thanks
