What to get

Hi I have 2 areas of questions. Using the Sonos app with multiple users 1. Would you recommend Sonos for an office of 10-14 people? 2. Does the app work fine with multiple users able to queue songs/albums after each other? 3. Does everyone use their own spotify/google play account or can you share each others or use a joint account? What speakers? This is our floor plan: I'm thinking of A. 1x play 5 and 2x play 1's B. 3/4x play 1's and a sub C. Something else? (Would likely put a play 5 or sub near the printer (wired in for better connection) and have the play one's on the opposite wall) I'm quite sold on the play 5 after hearing it in store next to a play 1. It was waaay better! Another benefit of the play 5 is it could be taken away and used as a standalone unit if needed. Not so easy with sub and play 1s

My surround receiver just died. I have a set of 5.1 System Audio speakers currently collecting dust. So should I buy a completely new system from Sonos for example Playbase, SUB and Play:1s? Or should I buy 2 x AMP and do a 4.1 setup with my old speakers? The old system is SA saxo 50 front speakers, SA saxo 10 tweeter in the middle. SA saxo 1 rear speakers and a SA saxo sub 10. Or should I just buy a new surround receiver and buy a Sonos connect? I currently own several Sonos speakers so Sonos has to part of the solution. What are the pros and cons? What do you guys think will give the best movie and music experience?

Hi, I own a small PT studio 10x8 with a high roof (small industrial unit). I have just purchased a play 3 and intend to add to this. My question is: should I add another play 3 at the opposite end or add a play 1 at each end and have a play 3 on the side. So 2 x play 3’s? Or 1 x play 3 + 2 x play 1’s? Thanks.

All, I have been reading the forums and greatly appreciate the community here. I have decided to put Sonos thorough pout my house. I will mount 2 play fives in my great room for music (replace some corner mounted Bose); place a playbase in my kitchen under that TV (Double use for music in there), put two play fives in another room where I have another set of corner mounted speakers for listening during get together (replace some corner mounted Bose), and then I have a sun entertainment room that is 30x15 where half is setup for viewing my TV (TV on short wall). So that is my last area to put some speakers... I primarily want to watch movies out there but would like to watch DVD concerts and be able to stream music. For that room I am divided... Would you recommend a Sonos 5.1 setup or should I do this deal with an SONOS connect attached?

Hi! We are building a new house and I need some advice on the right Sonos equipment to purchase. I will qualify with, we are new to Sonos, and we are not huge audiophiles or anything like that. We just want to easily be able to play music in various rooms with easy, and at times, push our tv sound over some speakers in our adjacent kitchen area. We are having 4 Sonance VP62R ceiling speakers installed in the kitchen/morning room area, and two Mariner 54 speakers on the back patio. All our speakers are being routed to a central A/V wire location in the basement. For our family room, we are not planning to put any built in speakers. I had intended on getting a playbase for that room (we dont need an overly impressive surround sound setup in there... we will be doing that in our basement at a later date). I do not have a connect / amp. I have four 5s, four plays, a beam, and 3 ones running throughout the house. This is my first spring/summer in the home, so it’s time to get my outdoor speakers mojo going. From what I’ve seen, the sonance option doesn’t have much appeal, beside being “endorsed” by Sonos. And, I already have decent outdoor speakers I can mount and wire. So, here’s the question. I’m looking to mount 2 speakers to the exterior wall. I have an outdoor/indoor, enclosed bar/arcade area and i’m thinking about mounting 2 more speakers. I’ll have to run about 80 feet of wire to connect the far speakers. Am I buying the amp:connect? Note of frustration. If Sonos has just created an outdoor version of the play:5 I would buy 4 and smile all day. I am continually frustrated by their inability to bring their system outdoors.

I want a wireless TV surround sound setup for my living room that I can also connect my DJ mixer to. The mixer can be connected to Sonos via wire or wireless. The only thing is that there cannot be a delay with the DJ equipment. I know for most wireless systems there is a 1-2 second delay. For example, if you press pause on your iPhone, there is a delay when the music actually stops. Is there any configuration that works with what I’m looking for?

Hello, I am new here and I want to buy a home system from Bose or Sonos. Bose would be a Soundbar 700 with 500 Sub. And with Sonos it is between Playbase without or with Sub and Beam with sub. My living room is mid-size next to the dinner table and kitchen without walls. I want do expand it with Bose Home Speaker (unfortunatly they have not smaller ones than the 500) or the Sonos ones for multiroom. My questions are: 1. Would you recommend to buy the beam with sub or the playbase without sub? 2. If the playbase would win.. with or without sub? Please keep in mind the price of the sub. It would be okay. But is the improved performance worth it? 3. If you have answered these two questions and you have already experiences with the Bose System. Would you prefer Bose or Sonos (I know that I post this question in a Sonos community but a objective answer would be great). You know the HDMI and DTS „issue“.. That‘s it for now. I’ve bought a Sonos Amp to go with my Sonos One and Sonos Connect and hooked up two floors-worth of wired speakers. All working great except I can’t see what value the Connect has any more. It no longer seems to do anything apart from being an Ethernet hub - which the Amp does, too - and enabling additional phono connections - for which the Amp only allows one. Seems I could sell my Connect, right?

If you are not using the Sonos Amp in conjunction with a TV via the HDMI_ARC port; but instead to power your favorite speakers, you'll still want to avoid the hassle of getting up from your listening position to adjust volume. I found the Logitech Harmony 665 Universal Remote to be the perfect companion. It allows me to adjust volume up/down and mute. Programing it works with Windows and MacOSX. After you download/install the UI software; and set it up using your computer, just follow the instructions in the Sonos App to make it work with the Sonos Amp. Hello, Sonos community Until I can afford a smart TV and a beam to go with it, I'm hoping for a possibility of connecting devices that have a 3mm input (smart phone/tablet/laptop etc.) to my stereo pair of Play:1s. It seems a waste to use the tinny speakers of whatever handheld device I'm viewing on when two brilliant speakers are sitting there at my disposal. Am I right in thinking that either the Connect, Connect:Amp, or Amp, could be used to plug the tablet/phone into, in order to play the audio through my stereo pair of Play:1s? I may have misunderstood their purpose entirely, but if there may be a temporary solution in there I'd appreciate any help you guys have to offer. Thanks Joe

OK - want to install a Sonos solution for a motorhome utilizing a Marantz NR1605 AV receiver... need to establish 3-4 zones - 1st- being 5.1 movie, 2nd - MBR w/ 2 stereo, 3rd outside w/2 stereo and a 4th for ALL speakers for music let's say... Hi guys! I am new here. I am gonna buy sonos speaker to use in the living room (6x4 meters). I will use it for TV shows, cinema (mainly) and Videogames (exceptionally for music). I am interesting mainly in sound quality, so I would like to ask you if you consider that in my case Playbase + Sub clearly outperform Beam + Sub, or may be only a subtle difference. Hello, I have a playbase and sub, which I love, but am moving into a new house where the only logical place to put the TV is mounted in the wall. There is no place to put the TV stand it was previously sitting on as there is a fireplace there. I was thinking of getting a beam to mount with the TV and using the playbase elsewhere in the house as a music speaker. Is this possible? If I have a beam attatched to the TV, and a playbase eslewhere in the house that is on the same network, I should still be able to play TV audio through the playbase, correct? I have read that, while there is a difference in audio quality between the beam and the base, that difference is negligible when paired with a sub. It is also a medium size room. Is this true in other people's experience? Has anybody else done this before - repurpose a playbase once it no longer fits? Any clever ideas on where to put it? Presently, I have four outdoor speakers (MARINER 54 😎 wired in parallel. Per the speaker specifications, they are rated at 60 watts maximum. Currently, I have a Sonos Connect:Amp hooked up to them; however, I was curious if I could go up to new AMP to push my volume or would that be blown speakers waiting to happen? From what I have read the parallel configuration might effectively push more wattage due to lowered impedance of speakers in parallel? Just looking for the right answer prior to pulling the trigger on the new Amp.

I have a newly constructed home where 8 individual speaker wires terminate in a central closet. 4 of those wires run to the living room, 2 to MBR and 2 outside. I have no equipment at the moment other than an Echo. I saw the conversation from a year ago on a similar topic where geo8 provided advice when the user was starting with a Sonos Connect. Hi Sonos-community, I'm currently a BlueSound user (please don't hate), but I find their app and interface more and more annoying, so I'm thinking about replacing my BlueSound Units with Sonos instead. However my setup is different, so I'm in need of some assistance to make sure that I get it right. Living-room: Main units: 65" Sony A1 OLED Marantz SR6011 Media players Apple TV 4K Bluesound Node 2 Toilet Bluesound Pulse Flex Kitchen Bluesound Pulse Mini Streaming services Spotify Youtube (usually streamed Bluetooth as this is not supported in the Bluesound app). QUESTIONS 1) Does Play 1 or 5 support BlueTooth? If not, how can I stream from Youtube and other services to the speaker? 2) I want to be able to use the livingroom as a separate zone and control it through the sonos app. Would I need to buy a Connect to replace the Node 2 to do so? Team, as we host parties and other gatherings outside I simply transport my Play 5 outdoors. Does anyone out here use an enclosure - cabinets, table, stand, for temporary outdoor use that looks neat and clean that you like? (I take it in after every event.)

I have a pair of Bose 251 speakers in my conservatory driven by a Connect Amp situated in the more controlled temperatures in the house. Not strictly an outdoor situation but the temperature in the conservatory can get up to over 40 degrees Celsius. Would I notice any difference if I substituted the Connect Amp for the new Amp, in terms of performance?

Can anyone suggest a suitable Toslink cable to fit the port on the Connect. Nothing I've bought fits securely and drops out!

I'm looking for a wireless multi room setup in a retail environment and could use some advice. There are two adjacent rooms, one is 27' x 25' and the other is 12' x 25'. The ceilings are 9'8" high and the rooms are connected by a 6' doorway. I'll be using Spotify to play ambient background music and occasionally be playing audio from short promo videos on a TV in the store. LARGE ROOM Would you recommend two Sonos Play:5s, or four Sonos Ones? What kind of square footage coverage can I expect from each speaker? SMALL ROOM Would you recommend two Sonos Ones or a single Play:5? TV How can I connect the audio from the TV into the Sonos ecosystem? If I place one of the Play:5s near the TV and ran a 35mm audio cable to it, can I switch the the TV audio input on and off though the Sonos app? Or is there an affordable way to connect it wirelessly? BTW, I haven't bought the TV yet, so if there is a built in audio feature I should look for to achieve this, please let me know.

I am reading a lot about the Play 3 vs the Play 5 in terms of sound quality and user experience. I have read the Play 3s are great, and a little disappointment with the Play 5. I also want to include a sub. For the money and such, which is a better buy? 2 Play 3 or 2 Play 5 with sub? This might seem like a dumb question but i am getting the impression that i can buy 2 Play 3s for the price of 1 Play 5 and, with a sub, get better bass and enjoyment from the 2 Play 3s. Any help? Also, can i connect 2 wireless routers on one network for my single modem and stick a Sonos Boost in a room with a wireless router but no modem? Only 1 model will be used. Thank you.

Hi, I have a 1200 square foot room with 18 foot high ceilings. Two of the walls are all windows. Floor is concrete. It’s a hair salon. Wondering what the best speaker set up would be. Have been considering 4 play one speakers located in each of the four corners of the room, roughly 8 foot up from the floor. Would this be sufficient or should I go for a different configuration. I can’t have a subwoofer due to restrictions. Thanks.
