What to get

When is 30% only 20% or even 15%? When Sonos say it is. Just been to Richer Sounds (UK hifi chain) as they were advertising the 30% trade-in discount for the legacy products. I have 3 legacy items (ZP100 and 2 Connect amps). I formed the rational that Sonos were not going to change tack so I would take the opportunity to restructure my system (13 zones made up of 16 Sonos products) and replace the 3 legacy items with a Move, a Port and an SL,spending around close to £700. So checked the website and rang them to check prices and stock. All good, 30% of their listed prices. However by the time I got to the store today things have changed, when keying in the sale the discount was not as expected it was only off the rrp. I asked the guy to check with head office, which he kindly did. It seems that Sonos are only willing to “support” them with 30% off the rrp.  The point is that Richer Sounds, John Lewis and Amazon are all selling the Move for £359 and the SL for £159 therefore the real dis

Hi all, sorry if this has covered before. Can i pair a play 5 (2nd gen) with a play 1 (1st gen)?   I just bought a Sonos play 5 (2nd gen) and someone is selling me a Sonos play 1(1st gen). I’m assuming they can be paired and use them as a single setup through the Sonos app, I’m I right?   thanks.

Hi everyone. It’s my first post and since I have 2 Play 5s and Beam in the basket and the support guy is fluffy on details, I wanted to check few things here. Thanks in advance. I want a setup to be able to play music with decent stereo separation: streaming + vinyl; and to watch TV/movies. I don’t need 5.1, just solid stereo with balanced bass would be fine atm. This is a reason why I ditched Beam + Sub. Few things… I heard I can’t have Play 5s acting as a stereo group and linked with Beam at the same time. How long does it take to switch the grouping? Alternatively - can Play 5s be paired with Beam and act as far front, so the stereo separation would be there for TV and music (with Beam possibly playing as the central speaker)? Any delay to expect? How long does it take to switch the input to aux, to listen to vinyl records on 5s (or with Beam)? Any special way to do it? Yeah… the turntable comes with a phono EQ built-in. Hi first off, thanks for a one who can help me in advance.  I have owned a Play 1 for a few years now, and finally want to take the plunge into a full surround sound system home cinema type situation. I have read that for surround sound to work the two, L and R speakers have to be identical. Meaning. Would I need to get two new One and One SL’s for the idea to work?    and the second question is do I need to have a subwoofer for the surround sound system to work? what would I need to get a surround system working with what I already have?     I would love all of the new stuff but as you all know it’s quite expensive and I can’t afford it all right now!    thanks so much for any help as any advice would help.    matt. 

Has anyone heard of when Sonos is ever going to update their Soundbar?  I have a Beam now for a small room but moving into a bigger home early next year.  The current Soundbar is so very dated and doesn’t have any fo the standard features of newer soundbars (voice assistant, ATMOS, HDMI, etc.). It even just plain looks old.  Rumors?  

Hello, I’m considering getting a sub to go with my playbar and play one’s but I live in a semi. My sitting room is joined to my neighbours sitting room although my tv is on the opposite wall. Will I have to keep the volume so low that it’s not worth having a sub or do isolation pads work?   Thanks

Hi everyone. I want to buy some speakers to use outside. I have bose lifestyle in my living room and I love them. So I have been looking at the bose 251 but I can see they are very old, so now I’m also looking at the sonos outdoor. I know I want to use the sonos amp for the speakers, but I don’t know what to choose between bose 251 and sonos outdoor speakers. Anyone who will help with some input? Maybe one out there who have tried both? Thanks in advance

I am looking making my first Sonos purchase, I am looking at a Sonos Beam with 2 x One SL’s as a bundle.  I can see that the usual price on the UK site is £757, but lately there has been a sale of £45 off this price which is good news.  I am also an ex member of the UK armed forces and Sonos are a member of the Defence Discount Scheme which offers serving or ex military 15% off all purchases.  I was trying to persuade the wife that I need this purchase and that I would get an extra 15% off which would bring it down to an excellent £607. I then logged in again the following day and saw an even better sale on these items on the Sonos website,  this is now listed at a sale price of £637 giving a saving on the website of £120.  I was about to make this purchase on the website and apply my military discount of 15% to this transaction, however,  when applying this discount code of 15% off the price actually increases to £647!!  How?? When the item was on sale at £45

I’m renovating kitchen area and looking to use the Sonos ceiling speakers with Sonos amp, but wondering how many ceiling speakers I would need and advice on placement. I haven’t heard them live yet so I don’t know how much area 2 ceiling speakers would fill up. The kitchen is open design and around 250 sqft (17ft x 15ft). For example, would 2 ceiling speakers be enough or would it be better to have 3-4 ceiling speakers?

Hi,   I’m considering of purchasing Sonos Move to be used outside every now and then. What I’m pondering is how it should be setup when not used outside.   Can I technically add Sonos Move to living room where there’s 4 x One SL + Beam? And does it make any sense? How about to a room with 2 x One SL?   Thanks!

Hi, I’m renovating my place and looking to install sonos in wall and in ceiling speakers throughout. This is the first time I’ve done this. I’ve attached a plan of what I’d like to do, looking for any tips, ideas or suggestions. Each different color goes to a different Sonos Amp. The brown lines in the Office and Living room would be where TVs go, each connected to a Play Bar (or Beam).  The idea is that someone in the office should be able to watch something on the office TV, using the speakers in the office, while at the same time that someone in the living room is watching TV using the living room speakers in 5.1 surround sound (there will be an extra set of back speakers in the bedroom).   The red speakers would be used to play music throughout the unit. All amps and play bars will be hardwired via Ethernet connection. Does this setup make sense? Any comments, suggestions, words of caution? Is there a major different between the play bar and the beam?

Hi Guys, Great Sonos has a forum like this! I have already set my mind to some Sonos purchase, but need some help making the right picks; I'm considering getting 4 Sonos Ones (2 for in the living room to be positioned left and right of the couch that faces the TV; 1 for in the kitchen; and 1 for in the bathroom) and am considering also getting the Sub for in the living room (predominantly for when listening to music, but also for watching the occasional movie). What I'm wondering is if having a living room setup with just 2 Sonos Ones and 1 Sub, without the Beam, makes sense? Or should one never do this as perhaps a better experience can be achieved at a more favorable price by getting the Beam instead of the Sub? Reason I'm not fancying the Beam so much is that there's no place to nicely position it below my TV and that my priority lies with bass for music over bass for movies. What would you recommend to get? Also, how much of an experience improvement would the Beam add to a setup t

I currently have two Play 5s (Gen 2) set up a stereo pair with a Sub. I use them for music as well as watching TV/Movies.   All of the TV / Movies we watch is via the Apple TV, sending the audio to the Sonos system via AirPlay. It works perfectly, no audio sync issues at all. The only negative is having to re-select the output (Airplay to Sonos) every time we turn the Apple TV on, but that is hardly a big deal.    In terms of performance, I feel that movies with a lot of music in them sound incredible. The Play 5s really shine. However, for movies with a lot of dialogue or movies with sound effects (think action movies), something is missing. The system doesn’t sound bad by any means, but for example dialogue could be more clear and sound effects could have more direction and impact.    So I am wondering about buying a Beam, to be used with the Sub specifically for TV/Movies, and moving the Play 5 Stereo pair (without the sub) to the other side of the room as a dedicated music system.

Hi guys, I’ve recently bought a sub to complete my front room 5.1 setup. I love the sound - the neighbours will hate it. I’m looking for options to minimise sound from Sub transferring through floor down into my neighbours apartment… whilst maintaining a decent aesthetic. Open to wall mounting, or putting the sub on a stand… has anyone had any luck with this? Cheers, Jonny 

Sonos say they won’t be supporting the Connect ZP90 soon so what do I replace this with? I use it to connect my record player to my Sonos system.  Thanks

I urge you to not buy anything from Sonos until they sort out their end of life procedures. I have spent well over £5000 pounds with them in the last four years. I was informed by email by them that two of my devices costing £800 would be obsolete in May and would no longer work with the rest of my devices. Stay away until and if they sort out their problems.

So my dad already has an audio setup with an older normal (non Sonos) amp and 2 connected speakers. I am wondering if there is anyway to connect the Sonos sub by itself to the amp. I know that products like the Sonos connect exist but am not sure if this can be connected directly to the amp and output to the sub.  we already have some Sonos products but I’m not sure if he would be into a surround set up, I just want to add a sub to the mix to make watching movies a little bit more immersive. I also want to get the Sonos sub instead of a normal, speaker wire subwoofer so we can also use it with the play 2’s that we have for music.  Thanks in advance for the help. May sound a little confusing. 

I currently own a Denon amp with a Center speaker and 2 left and right and speakers plus a sub. I am thinking of switching to sonos, so will this cofigiration work as a settup. A Sonos Beam (or Playbar) which my Tv is connected to via HDMI ARC. A Sonos Amp with the third party speakers and sub. Will this work together were the Beam works as a center speaker and the amp as left and right, and will the sub also work in this settup ? Will i get a simialer surround sound feeling as i do now ?​​​​​​  

Hello, does anyone know what format the Port outputs from the digital coax? (I searched I swear) I’m looking at a receiver that states it only accepts PCM so want to make sure these will work together. I can’t imagine it being anything but PCM however wanted to clarify before making any purchases. Thanks for any help!

I’m struggling to find the answer to this, but what equipment do I need to add sonos one speakers to my existing (wired) audio system? Everything i’m finding seems to be streaming music with the sonos app to an existing system which isn’t what I’m looking for. I have an amp and wired speakers and play music through a sirius xm player, plugged into the amp. I would like to be able to add the sonos one speakers to this setup. Thanks

One step away from a perfect HT. I have a Playbar and two Play 3s. Only SUB missing. Wife won’t approve it. I can get one Sonos One, though. So, now only thing to choose from is One SL or One. May be I could stretch it to a pair  . What do you say? Neven  

Should I buy stereo pair of HomePod or pair of Sonos Move?I don’t see a lot of threads that compare the Sonos move and the HomePod.

Due to Sonos dumping old stock and screwing there customers out of potentially £1000s pounds of soon to be now useless equipment are you going to stop buying Sonos and buy another brand as I am?
