Nothing works on the „new“ App. Interruptions, Delay, you have created the worst case ever. what kind of substances are you consuming so that this is the result? PLEASE get the old App back!
Sonos with some justification has promoted itself as a premium brand but now needs some new laurels to polish. Originally a terrific combination of sound, style and simplicity worth paying for when the cost of competitors' products offered significant savings, I am now reminded of 'bloatware' conversations of some years back with every update. Sonos, get a grip; the latest update is underwhelming, pushy, and in the case of my music library, spectacularly useless. As an older (68) user who still enjoys quality sound and design but has little interest in anything other than playing what I want to, when I want to, I'm asking sonos to consider (many?) owners and users like me who would appreciate a 'sonos light' (lite?) interface, or the facility to make it so. Take the time needed, keep us informed without puffery, but crucially, get it right. I used to recommend sonos without hesitation, even enthusiastically. Not now.

This new Sonos app is complete garbage, is there a way to revert? For the record I love Sonos and use it in many different places but this is the end of the line if I can’t back to the old app. It’s so bad.
Just got a port and began the setup process. I created a profile and verified my email. After the initial setup and before I’ve been able to do ANYTHING, there is a forced update. This kicks me to the site to log in and I get the error that I need to log off and let the “system owner” log in to do the update. I’m dead in the water. needless to say, this expensive brick is getting returned. I’m glad that it only took one component to learn that the Sonos ecosystem is complete garbage. Judging by the recent posts, mine is FAR from an isolated experience.
I’m one of those smug, self-satisfied people who has auto-update turned off, and who expected to be able to stay with the old app until this mess has been sorted out. But no - even with auto-update set to “off” my app has been updated and now my TuneIn stations won’t work and my Network Shares won’t work. Just the helpful error message “Something went wrong”.However… the open source client NOSON still appears to work perfectly. I can still play tracks from my Network Attached Server, can set alarms, can play all of my TuneIn based radio stations - can even play music from the PC’s local disks.Of course it’s only a solution if you already run one of the common versions of Linux (you can install a current version of NOSON for free straight out of the standard repositories), or with Windows/Mac, if you’re willing to run it under something like VMWare - not technically difficult but a bit of a pain to have to do.But it did make me wonder - if a one-man development team can do such a great
My Sonos system has 2x Play:5 (gen 2), 4x One and 4x One SL. Everything worked fine until the recent app update. Now it just won’t play any music. No matter which service it is (Spotify, SoundCloud, whatever) it just won’t play. I select the music, it just won’t load and play. I’ve already disconnect and reconnected all the services, didn’t help at all. Any suggestions? Thx!
How Do I Remove Sonos Radio as a Music Source?I don’t want it. I can remove every other source. Remove this one too.
I got a prompt today on my SONOS app saying that an upcoming version of the App would remove support for some kind of local files. Unfortunately I neglected to save a screenshot. Does anybody know what this is about?
If I had a vote I would have not changed the interface on iOS, just improved items. I’m happy about the speaker individual adjustment but that is where it stops. I have 11 Sonos devices and am not happy w an auto update that blew out my connectivity. below are several items but an initial problem right now discovered this morning since everything is now up and running… I turned on the app with my iPhone, but my iPhone is not turning off the Sonos. I have to tell Sonos to turn off through my play one. There is some kind of glitch… The rest of the stuff below is what I’ve discovered since yesterday afternoon… Have a good readLove my products! don’t like this change! Image 1 - what happened to play/pause on display?!? Have to go a level deeper to pause or shout Sonos off!Image 2 no volume # in this page for group speakers… so you can’t learn what # is what level Image 3 you have a selection to play everywhere but why not an unselect all??? also… why is the font and images so big?!? Sonos used to be a family of great products that were consistent and worked. Whomever they hired to make the decisions and set the strategic direction over the last couple of years has failed spectacularly! The complete ridiculousness of the S1 and Sonos app is something that any company that cares about the perception of their aptitude would have avoided at all costs, and the newest app update appears to have been designed by the three blind mice! Add to that over the last couple years their devices just randomly disappear from the app and lose connectivity. Their answer from them is “it must be the wifi network”, and factory reset or move the device. I have been a network architect for 20 years and have never seen a better example of a company that is literally drowning under the weight of their own lack of understanding and ability. Perhaps instead of redesigning apps in the worst manner possible, spend time and money fixing the existing issues and returning the products and experie
I have been 100% behind Sonos for ~20 years with major investments in Sonos products and some significant Sonos stock shares. However, the latest Sonos iOS App is a disaster and is at best represents a beta test version for select beta test users. No doubt this well eventually result in an improved UI experience. The beta version forced on everyone is a total disaster. This marks the 2nd major Sr. Management screwup in recent years that I am aware of. However, the 1st screwup management was wise enough to take shift action to correct the situation. This 1st screwup was there initial promotion of providing a 30% discount in exchange for allow Sonos to disable your older noncompliant HW that would not work with S2 App. The public quickly altered them that this was an insane unacceptable solution and they quickly changed their policy to not disabling the S1 older equipment and provided the 30% discount. Here we find ourselves again, in what is even a much worse situation as a result of forc
My son accidentally pressed the infinity button and factory reset my new sub and now after finally re registering it, it won’t assign back to the room it is in? Have tried all sorts of things as advised on here. I can assign to another room, just not to my Arc?Can anyone help me please? Have been on it for two and a half hours now and near broken!Thank you in advance.
Why in the F*** would you remove the sleep timer and alarm functions on the latest app ? Are you frigging morons, yes that's a serious question. My app updated itself and now those 2 functions that I used ALL THE TIME are gone. Who is the idiot that made that decision, are you trying loose business or just had a lobotomy.
SONOS has seen fit to release an update on its app with some features absent. If you want to use the alarm or sleep timer then (caps lock alert): DO NOT EVEN THINK ABOUT UPDATING. Other features, which I don’t use so am unaware of their absence, may not be available too.The “Customer Experience” team has told me: “features such as playlist creation and queue editing within the Sonos app, sleep timers, and local library support will not be available at launch, but will be added to the app on a rolling basis over the coming months”. Months??!! I used to use the alarm feature every day - not now thanks to this “upgrade”. Why SONOS has launched an app update that’s clearly not ready for general release beyond beta is beyond me.The whole thing is an utter shambles and spoils the SONOS brand. This customer is not happy with his experience.
Why oh why do companies install a completely new app when clearly it’s not been tested it’s not fit for purpose. That same old adage comes up again if it’s not broke don’t try and fix it.in other words the app is crap
I open the new app , it says can’t find your system. So I do all the good things, roboot router, reboot speakers , reboot iPad . Works! Bravo. 3 hours later, no music, open app,it can’t find system. Repeat. Happens at least twice a day with this staggeringly poorly written new app! Hopefully Sonos will decide they goofed and do something positive, but unlikely. FYI Alexa has no trouble finding the Sonos speaker system, and can play from my Amazon music account, radio stations etc. and my router always says the speakers are online and working. It is only the Sonos app that cannot find the Sonos speakers! Maybe I can train Alexa to do everything I wanted the app to do??
HiI installed 16.2, and now my local music library has disappeared. The music is held on a Windows Server 2022 file share which is NOT SMB1, it’s SMB2 or SMB3. I’m a long time user of Sonos products with over 20 devices installed in my home. I also have quite a few streaming services. Since the upgrade on my phone there are 2 sources that I can NOT find or navigate to, and I’m getting really pissed. The first is the basic “TuneIn” service. under my channels I have 40+ items to choose from. You can not currently find it. If you try and add “TuneIn” they are pushing their Premium Service that requires an account and I’m sure will not contain my added channels. Where did the base service go?Second is the Sonos Playlists music source. It use to be easy to navigate to and pick a playlist. Now it is nowhere to be found. I have 50+ playlists that a great amount of time was spent creating and again, the new interface does not provide a way to see them. Sonos, this upgrade is a huge step backwards in my opinion. Not sure who approved the UI but they obviously have not used the old interface enough to know it. Also half of the info blocks i
C dommage… les détails ! Comme les alarmes même sur ma chaîne de 1993 j’ai un timer Moderator Note - Translation by Google:It’s a shame…the details ! Like the alarmseven on my 1993 channel I have a timer
This app is complete trash. I can't play anything. When it finally decides to play a song, I can't change it, or turn down the volume or change rooms. GARBAGE. I have 5 unusable speakers now. WTF!? I bought my first speaker in 2014 and have been using it nearly everyday since. This app is UNUSABLE! I can ant listen to music.
I sure hope that Sonos reads these threads!!So yes, this looks to be another thread about the new app and how terrible it is!!!Where dose Sonos get their software department from? are the from a yet mostly unknown culture that doesn't think like the rest of us??Are the Aliens from another planet? or a group of Bonobo chimps from the local zoo moonlighting on the side.Whomever they are using, they need to have a sit-down discussion with them.I'm no power user of the app by any stretch of the imagination and yet even I suffer mild PTSD from trying to use it!No1 gripe, Why can I not just add 1 folder of music from my library to the music que and have Sonos just play that???? Sometimes you just want to fire up a Led Zeppelin session and blot the rest of the world out for a few hours, but no i have to mess around with an app for 20 mins making a “Playlist” before I can do that!!!Yes, Im old and a little crusty but I have money and have spent it on Sonos speakers throughout my house and I ju
Time for a class action lawsuit…. the app is a disaster...start the public firings before sonos goes under… start with the employee who used the word COURAGE
I started my local public radio station, as I do every afternoon, and my Sonos played a Sonos advertisement for 30 seconds instead. That is an unacceptable behavior, so I threw the Sonos out of the kitchen window. It is now lying in the garden, and it will not be invited back in. My question (I searched and as far as I can tell it has gone unanswered on this forum) is what is the minimum safe depth at which I will never see it again?
So, if you thought anyone from Sonos would apologize for this travesty of an app update and/or explain WHY releasing the updated app now was so important it was worth doing despite the app missing numerous previously existing features, you were, like me, sorely disappointed. However, if you were looking forward to them showing up an hour late, answering maybe 6 questions in total, and doing so only in oblivious marketing gibberish (apparently the negative feedback has "energized" the team!), then it was a real treat!Hard to believe they found additional ways to insult and ignore loyal customers who have each given them thousands of dollars over the years, but they managed it. I sure hope each of them is getting very drunk right now and questioning their life choices.
