Have a chat with other Sonos owners. What's going on in the world of music and technology? What's playing?

I moved from US to Italy. I have had continuing issues try to get my sonos set-up. I have easily spent over 24 hours on getting three speakers on line and getting access to my musice services (Sonos 1, Play 1 and 5). I use Alexa voice service, and when I speak, Alexa acknolwedges me, and responds when I ask her to play music, but will not / cannot playback music...no matter how many times I ask. One of my speakers (Sonos 1) must be hard-wired connected to the internet rounter or my system will not work - this is frustrating as I do not want a speaker where the modem/rounter is located. Do I have to change my address? I understood that I should change my address since I moved from the US to ITA, and using the website I have tried to edit my address in the “My Account” section, but the state and country are grayed out and I cannot edit them.
I just wiped out months and months of a specialized play-list by listening to a useful idiot L1 technical support ding dong doing a hard-reset. Play-list is gone and this is the answer to Sonos self-inflicting the update to their app months ago where they brought everyone to their knees? This is so wrong and I’m so upset right now as it would appear that when one does a hard-reset, everything related to your saved Sonos play-list is gone! I’ve escalated to an L3/L4 to hopefully recover, but it sound like I’m screwed!! Thank you Sonos for not helping!!
This might be a silly question but as an owner of a bunch of original equipment who started looking at upgrading even though I’ve always been fine with what I had, why not double down and buy more of the older used equipment that can be had for a song? Obviously there’s risk to age, who you’re buying from, etc but the risk seems worth the reward. I’d love to hear reasons why this doesn’t make sense.
We have the amp, wall speakers and ceiling speakers and Sonos 1,3&5.we turn it on and most times it hooks up and we can use it.big problem when we come to switch off.It never connects.we try to disconnect WiFi to no avail. It stays on all the time we are out of the house and sometimes 24/7.will Sonos ever sort out the problems?
Hey guys,Unlike a bunch of people here in this community I'm happy to not have experienced any issues with my Sonos system that got introduced with the bigger update in May. In fact I'm pretty satisfied with my system and I've been a Sonos user for over 11 years now. When Sonos removed the "analytics" feature about 4-5 years ago, I saw some people complain that it was gone, so I decided to bring this feature back when I have time. So here it is. Feel free to register and check it out: https://audio.reportCurrent scope: Measure and visualize your sonos usage Compare your usage to the community (not the sonos community, but people registered with the service) Display recently played tracks (my wife was constantly asking questions about songs that I played days ago, so this one is for the ladies) Send weekly summaries In case you have any feedback, feel free to reach out to me. In case you wonder about my motivation, you can read my FAQs on the website mentioned above.Cheers,Joschi
for 1 year anniversary of purchasing my first sonos product, I received from sonos an email with 15% discount code for any sonos product.will I get it once again for 2nd anniversary?
So recently I have been having issues with my Discord app on Mac. My phone app worked fine, but the Mac app was constantly crashing on loading and failing to update with a really obscure QUIC_PROTOCOL_ERROR and Google searching wasn’t turning up any results for a fix. All results referred to Google chrome itself, but not third party applications using QUIC. No matter what I tried nothing was working. After digging into QUIC and how it relates to UDP network packets, (faster handshaking for Web 2.0 applications) I went into my router (DrayTek) firewall settings and I had something called ‘UDP flood defense’ enabled. I disabled this, and immediately my broken discord app started working. On the router settings page it has the advisory text ‘enabling UDP flood defense option may affect UDP services like NAT-T VPN, DNS, VoIP. Well I’ve just proved it definitely affects QUIC! The reason I’m posting this related to Sonos, as Sonos is going down the cloud Web 2.0 infrastructure route with spe
I’m concerned. Recently purchased a Move 2 from Costco since it was a great deal that included the free redemption of the Travel Bag. Unfortunately, for some time, I’ve been checking the website to see if I can redeem the travel bag.I see many have been talking about the back order taking long, however, as of right now it is showing as “Out of Stock”. Therefore, I can’t redeem the code provided to me from Costco, while, at the same time, I see that the bags are available via the Sonos Store on Amazon.I do realize that there’s probably been a surge of requests from the holiday sales. But it’d be helpful to know if or when this might get resolved.Anyone else experiencing this and concerned?
To All…..May 2025 be your gateway to fulfill your dreams and wishes now and beyond…. * * Oops...I did it again...this is not a question. I guess my dream/wish should be more accuracy when posting 😂
So, what is the replacement for this worthless crap we cant get rid of????
Thinking about junking my Sonos and buying something like JBL that is easier to use and is more compatible with the way I want to use it. Is there anywhere I can post for sale. It’s time for me to call it a day with Sonos.
I’ve been getting the “Unable to play X, It’s not encoded correctly” message while playing songs from Apple Music and saw that it was because some of my older songs have DRM and there’s nothing Sonos can do about it. That makes sense. What doesn’t make sense is that this message popped up on Sonos’ own audio product. “Unable To Play Sonos Radio, It’s Not Encoded Correctly”. This makes no sense at all and tells me this whole problem is with Sonos and not Apple Music. Can a fix for this be on the way? Please?Using the Sonos app on an iPad.
Do not buy Sonos products
So not to write war and peace as other posts I have seen regarding other people’s frustrations, but I’ve come to the conclusion that Sonos and particularly the app is a complete disaster and those managing things at Sonos clearly have their head so far up their own arse it isn’t going to be fixed anytime soon if at all. I’m a long time Sonos user and long time lurker on here, and I’m done. Looking for the best working alternative to invest in and replace my current setup. The amount of time I spend at home currently is finite and having now been home for 3 weeks for Christmas I’ve confirmed my thoughts having been frustrated with Sonos for a while.I want to be able to play music throughout the house at almost a glance of my phone. Trying to operate Sonos via the app or through Spotify isn’t that at all, it’s slow buggy and has me wanting to smash my phone off the wall.I hate my current setup so much that I’m actually quite excited about buying a new setup. In total I have 15 speakers ma
Can anyone recommend someone in the Perth Area of Western Australia who can come to my home and help with me Sonos system. Having problems with is not connecting and fading in and out. Really need someone to come and have a look. I have tried all the online chats and I am getting nowhere and I am running out of patience 🤯Thanks
You guys gonna start a subscription service? I was just thinking of how you guys could be worse of a company than you've already declined. Also, let me be clear: I have no anger towards the staff, or customer support, I am aggravated by the direction whoever has made decisions in the future of your apps which are so frustrating to deal with.
To All Community Members and Sonos Staff…I hope you and your family are having a Great Day and looking forward to many more !! * * Sorry I missed those twelve (12) hours ahead of 11:59 AM (or 12:00 noon)_CST_12/25/24
So, just wondering how many others are like me.…I've been a Sonos user for about 10 years now. 1st bought it to replace a home theatre system that my family couldn't understand!! Sonos was great. The setup was easy and it just worked! We've gradually increased to an average amount - playbar, sub and 2x play 3s in the lounge, and 4 play 1s in kitchen, playroom, office and bedroom. It's been great grouping speakers for parties and gatherings - even 'DJing' on the fly at some by selecting new tracks as the last one ends etc. We've never bothered with voice control and use the app mainly. (Could never seem to get voice to work properly across multi room). So here we are, a family with a mix of android and iPhone (plus my daughter using laptop to control). I can see it's time to look at upgrading or adding (looking at a new lounge theatre setup with arc and moving current one to playroom, plus maybe a Move 2). But it's still a big commitment and expense. One I need to be 100% confident with
Open Letter to CEO Patrick Spence - 28/09/24 Good evening Mr Spence, (if indeed it is you reading this) A little about me and my relationship with your company… I’ve been an avid Sonos fan and consumer for almost 20 years. I have supported your business through every incarnation of device from the days of the Zone Player to the ARC.I have Sonos in every room of my home and I have purchased new generations and promoted the product to my friends and family despite my Roam almost setting my house on fire. It is safe to say I love(d) my Sonos. Now my reason for writing to you on a rainy Saturday evening in the UK. I desperately need your help before I am forced to abandon Sonos for good.I know you’re aware of the problems associated to the S2 App since May because you wrote to me in June. However as recently as last night I received a further email assuring me the App experience is improving and highlighting the new features. As a customer suffering with the dismal experience daily these em
This is a total joke...ive had a working system for ages, now Ive changed my WiFi password and downloaded the ‘latest’ sonos app. If i want to connect to the speaker to update the wifi pw using bluetooth, the app wants PRECISE location, not just approx, ie my street..which i can see on the map, but it wants my damn house number using GPS/WiFi etc. jeez, just tell them where i hide the front door keys while we are at it... This is bull… there is NO REASON WHATSOEVER for an app to need precise location, unless its a gps app like navigation etc.I want to know WHY this is needed and HOW it could ‘impact’ the service. Knowing my street, suburb, city, country is fine with me, (and more than enough info) but even that is crap..so why does it need precise location??? I want a decent answer! Before the haters chime in..its rubbish what your going to say about, “thats what you have to do”, “go elsewhere”..bla bla… well you can provide what you want ...don’t force it on me.. this is basic privacy
What is going on with the Sonos apps? I’m using the most up to date iOS app on a fully updated iOS platform and all the speakers are up to date. The new interface is terrible and I would hate to even see the code for it. Doing simple things like removing recently played off the home screen now involves navigating multiple menu’s to accomplish. Drop the web control and focus on the android and iOS app, please. I have two Era 100’s I have in a stereo pair that will loose connection with each other causing one of the speakers to quit playing. Opening the app and looking, they are still paired together, just not working. I have to unpair them, repair them, and then re-tune them. I check my router and make sure the Era’s are still both connected to WiFi, and they are. I’ve tried changing the wireless channel they use to talk to each other and that doesn’t help either. Nothing in my network infrastructure has changed and all other devices are operating normally on the network. I have
I'm accustomed to software glitches here and there, but this app has to be the biggest POS I've ever experienced! The fact it has been months now with the same issues not being resolved is pathetic. I might as well have bricks sitting on shelves and mounted to walls. Nothing like having $4k of really good speakers and not being able to use them frequently. I go out of my way to tell people that don't currently have Sonos products DO NOT BUY!!!
I’m leaving Sonos. The app is horrible and the connectivity is awful. That’s what made Sonos so great before. I’ve tried to give you time to work through your issues but you took to long. I’m changing both houses and always recommending away from Sonos.
Until the last couple of app updates things were slowly getting better but since the last two updates things are just getting worse again. Systems not found, music playing but no sound..... It's getting to look like it's never going to recover. I've about had enough now but to replace all my sonos gear would cost thousands. It surely is time this idiot CEO was fired.
I don’t need to repeat the problems around the app. Suffice to say that the app updates have rendered the usefulness of my Sonos equipment down to less than zero. I don’t ever know if it’s going to work or not these days. Imagine planning a Christmas party under those conditions!I’ve seen various threads here talking about legal action and and class action, etc. Has anything come of them? I can’t see any obvious outcomes. If not - I’m considering taking them to the Small Claims Court in the UK just to get my money back on the equipment. I’m absolutely fed up with it. Has anyone succeeded? The process in the UK is pretty simple and I’ve been successful in the past.I understand Sonos can do pretty what they want with their app, but if that results in damage or the - effective - bricking of equipment that’s within its reasonable lifespan, then that is on them.Cheers
