Hello, Im looking at building a new Surround sound system for a new house and would like to go down the path on integrating two in-ceiling speakers, as well as an ARC bar, and subwoofer.I’m also wanting to integrate a turntable into the mix.I’d like to know what specific products I need, and what connects to whereIm aware for the in-built passive speakers I need the AMP, as well as wanting an ARC and SUB, how do these connect to each other for seamless use?Thanks for any help!Alex

My 2021 LG TV is connected to my Arc via eArc (also have two Sonos 1 Surrounds and a Gen 3 Sub) which is giving me amazing sound including Atmos and it does passthrough of Atmos from any devices connected to it.Because of the configuration of the room, the TV and Arc are at some distance from the rest of the AV equipment and there is currently only a single lengthy HDMI cable between the TV and the area where that equipment is stored.To avoid unplugging the HDMI cable and swapping it between a Cable Box/Apple TV and a UHD DVD player my options are:upgrade my AV Receiver to one that does Atmos passthrough and thereby keep the single HDMI cable (connecting the boxes to the Receiver); OR chase additional HDMI cables so that each box can connect directly to an HDMI input on the TV.Does anyone know whether “double passthrough” of Atmos dilutes quality? In other words, if I connect my boxes to a new Receiver which then connects to the TV which then connects to the Arc, will that be less qual

Hello all -- I’ve tried reading through these threads but my head is spinning! I am hoping to hook-up my Crosley turntable (specs here) to my pair of old Play:1 speakers. The specs of my TT don’t say much, but it gets mentioned on a few different websites that it has a ‘built in amp’ though nobody elaborates more than that. I do not have any type of phono vs. line-in switch on the back, but I do have 2 RCA jacks as well as 2 speakerwire ports (sorry, not sure what else to call those...)Looking for the simplest (and maybe also cheapest) way to get this all in sync. Do I need a pre-amp, can anyone tell? Which new or discontinued Sonos product would you recommend as my easiest path here? Any thoughts appreciated, thanks!

Hello So I ordered a SUB GEN2 But SUBG1 is listed on the invoice.Is it normal? Will I receive the G2 product I ordered, is this some kind of mistake?Any one had the same issue? 

I recently bought a home that came with an ancient audio system already built into 4 ceilings. In total the system includes an amp, a switch, cd and cassette player, 4 ceiling speakers in 4 different rooms and 2 speakers (potentially one of them is an amp but neither is working) in the same room as the audio system. See picture's of equipment below. only the switch is staying from this picture. current amp that I'm hoping to replace with sonos ampMy short term goal is to keep the in-ceiling speakers but enable streaming (I'm going to remove the cd and cassette player as neither work). This lead me to the Port vs Amp decision. Ultimately I choose amp, which just shipped, as the current amp is an enormous heat producer and felt like something I'd want to replace sooner than later. Dear Community, I need an advice on my future surround setup. I have Sonos Arc and want to add a pair of rear speakers connected to Sonos Amp. I’m in doubts what would be the best option and location for the rear speakers in my room. I’m considering Sonos In-ceiling, vs. Sonos in-wall pair of speakers vs. a pair of SONOS ONE on stands. Please suggest what would be the best option in my setup.Option #1. Sonos In-ceiling connected to an AMP. Option #2. Sonos In-wall connected to an AMP. Option #3. A pair of Sonos One:s ?The other alternative is just add a pair of Sonos one on stands close to the sofa.I’m leaning towards 3rd option as it’s the easiest and cheapest one, but not sure about quality of the surround. Thanks in advance for your thoughts on this! /Pavlo 

hi everyone looking for some advice. I am setting up a home cinema system. I have an Arc and a sub and I want to add two rear speakers.Due to the config of the room I cant add wall or free standing rear speakers only ceiling speakers (with a Sonos amp).In another part of the kitchen / diner  I would like to install another 2 ceiling speakers.My questions …. 1 are the ceiling speakers a reasonable solution for my rear speakers / work well  for the home cinema ?2 Can I play DAB radio through the Arc to come out of the two ceiling speakers (or does sound come out of all the speakers ?)3 Lastly can I stream music  ONLY through the ceiling speakers . thankyou  

Hello,  Here is what I am trying to figure out as far as what to purchase.* Living room ( 25 x 20)  This is the room with the LG TV and would like surround sound.  Arc for that one?        * Master Bedroom 1 (15 x 15)  Maybe two speakers (one for the master bath)  This has a TV so a Beam for that one?         * Maybe one or two extra speakers to put in other places of the house.        2.  The only other thing we have is our original Sonos (which we hooked up to the house's in wall speaker system).  We could do away with this.        3.  I would plan on putting maybe one speaker outside, yes.  But we could also just have one that goes outside when we go outside in the back. Thank you a bunch in advance!!!! Brad

Dear community,I would like to bring up a topic previously discussed, but since DTS support has been added to the Beam.It has been discussed here, when DTS wasn´t supported yet. sound from sony blu-ray ubp-x800m2 | Sonos Community I am trying with no success to get sound from the sony blu-ray player ubp-x800m2 directly to the Beam via the second dedicated HDMI audio out on the player. Reason being that when I use the ARC function of my TV (the older Panasonic 50VT50e from 2012 or so), everything it outputs via ARC is downsampled to stereo. Now I have read that the Beam requires an ARC signal, which seems to defy the whole point of a dedicated HDMI audio out on the player. Is it correct to assume that this direct connection between the player and the Beam fails because some part of the ARC protocol is not met?Would it be the same if I buy a Sonos Arc? Thank you for your help :-) Edit: I just found the option in the app to continue without ARC and use the optical adapter to HDMI option.

Morning,I have a playbar and was thinking of upgrading to the Arc. That got me thinking about what I should do with the Playbar. I could trade it in or sell it but wouldn’t it be good if SONOS was able to provide a software update to enable it as a rear speaker? I already have 2 surround play 1’s but because of the set up in my room I’m not able to get them behind me. If I could mount the playbar on the wall behind me I would have real surround sound. I guess if I had this option I may upgrade sooner or maybe this is already an option that I’ve missed?   

We love our sonos system but my wife is not app friendly. Are there any physical controllers that can connect to the speakers?

I may also use a Beam for another TV>  My question:  Is it relatively easy to switch back and forth between Sonos playing the TV and playing music?

I have a stereo pair, play bar and sub in lounge that use to play tv and music through. I have an additional stereo pair I wanted to set up in another room. I got them working playing music from my app but it shut down my lounge stereo pair in the process.  How do I set it up so when I want to play music in a different room or through a tv in that room it doesn’t shut off my stereo pair in the lounge please 

I currently have a Sonos Beam (Gen 2). I have also ordered a Sonos Amp so that I can connect my turntable to the Sonos system. My hope was that I could connect a 3rd party subwoofer to the Sonos Amp and integrate it into the Sonos system for music AND the home theatre system (just the Beam).Some sleuthing has revealed that my idea might not work. See this LINK (Sonos Q&A).Can anyone here chime in to advise whether this works or not? Simply put, I want my setup to be: TV connected to Beam via eARC Amp connected to Turntable, bookshelf speakers (which flank the Beam) and 3rd Party SVS SB-1000 Subwoofer - Subwoofer to work with both the music and the TV (Beam) Three Sonos Ones spread throughout the house for music (and listening to the turntable) If this doesn't work, I'm probably going to cancel my order for the Amp and order a Connect instead because my bookshelf speakers are powered.Thanks in advance.

I was wondering if I could receive some assistance with trying to make sure that the Explicit filter is enabled when streaming music from the Amazon Music app. I can 'cast' the music from my phone in the Amazon Music app to the Sonos speakers directly. I have explicit filtering enabled both in the Amazon Music app and in the Sonos app. However, whenever I cast, I see a message in the Amazon app that says 'Block Explicit Songs is Unavailable while you are connected to the Sonos Speakers'. However, explicit content is still played.Any thoughts? We have young children and I'm often casting music from my phone. I really need this feature to work.*As a side note, we have an Echo Dot controlling the two Sonos speakers (One SLs). When using voice commands to play music, Explicit filtering works as intended. It only appears to be an issue when casting from the Amazon Music app.Thanks!

I've read a variety of topics and haven't found one exactly answering this question so I apologize if this is an easy one or if it has been answered before. Bottom line - I'm exploring my options for connecting outdoor speakers to my current Denon AVR-X4300H (I think that's the model, not terribly important I guess).  My current setup is just 3.1 (LCR and sub setup).  I want to be able to play my music from either my TV, receiver, turntable connected to receiver, etc on outdoor speakers.  So far what I think I've learned and is accurate:- I can purchase any old outdoor speakers and wire them to my receiver under zone 2.  - one Sonos option is: outdoor architectural speakers, but that would still require wired connection to the sonor port or amp.- if I purchased one of the Sonos wireless speakers (one of waterproof portable ones), could I wirelessly connect them to a Sonos Port that's connected to my receiver?  I know a highlight of this would be allowing my receiver to be brought into

I have 5 Sonos speakers.  When I play music from the Sonos app, I can control which speakers the sound is sent to.  When I try and play music through Airplay, if I select one speaker, it plays to multiple speakers.  Is there a way to fix this?

Can the speakers be connected to a record player wirelessly?

Hi,I'm wondering if anyone has solved the issue of playing DTS-X 4k blu ray discs on Xbox Series X with a Sonos Arc plugged in e-arc to an LG C9 oled tv?I tried to watch Tenet tonight and the menus played sound but the film didn’t have anything. I checked the discs audio setting and there is only English or English audio description (which did play sound). I’ve tried changing my Xbox sound settings but nothing was working.  My TV sound settings are set to auto and it still doesn’t work as originally it was set to pass through. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.   

I do  have a way that works great so far:Extract cover art (.jpg) from music file, import in any paint program, save as .tiff, load .tiff and save again as .jpg.Had something to do with Density Unit IIRC, forgot what exactly. But why is this work around needed? I need to do that for at least the last year, regardless if I buy old or new songs. I don’t think this is a Sonos issue, as I need to do the same for my Sony (digital) Walkman.Anyone has a solution or suggestion? 

Bonjour,actuellement en possession d'une barre de son gen 2.Je souhaiterais optimiser mon système d'écoute en ajoutant une paire d'enceintes pour un son surround. j'ai lu plusieurs forums sans trouver de réponse à ma situation.Voici ma situation : ma barre de son est dans mon salon qui fait 40m2. la barre de son (Gen 2) se situe contre un mur en plein centre et à environ 2m50-3m se situe mon canapé d'où je regarde la télé. mon projet serait d'installer les enceintes surround dans les coins supérieurs du mur (les enceintes seront espacées d'environ 6m et à une hauteur inférieur à 3m) qui est en face de la télé. Le mur en question se situe à environ 5-7m de mon canapé. est-ce que cette configuration est possible ? et est-ce que j'aurais un bon rendu surround ?Merci d'avance !
