Speakers

Hello Sonos Community!  I am pretty new to Sonos but I’m going to buy SONOS IN-CEILING SPEAKERS (PAIR).I wondered where to best place the speakers in the dining room and kitchen areas? There is no TV in this area and it is simply an open plan kitchen/ dining room so we’d like to play music! Also how many speakers would you go for?  Thanks in advance!

Short version:Currently, it appears that when two Era 300 speakers are in a stereo pair, using the line-in for one of the speakers causes that speaker to play audio, while the other remains silent, even though the stereo pair operates as expected with other sources. Additional background:A few days ago I was helping a fellow Sonos owner with a setup she was trying to achieve. She has two Era 300s and a Sub, which she planned to use as a 2.1 unit. Her intended audio source was a third-party mixing board connected to the line-in of one of the Eras. In this setup, the Era physically receiving the line-in signal played audio as expected, while the other Era in the stereo pair remained silent. This was true even when the Sub was dropped from the equation. When testing other “regular” sources such as Spotify through the Sonos app, the 2.0 or 2.1 setup performed exactly as expected. Honestly just disappointed with Sonos overall lately.  Used to be great audio and an easy system to interface with Spotify.  Now it just seems like constant disconnects, and delayed pickups, and Sonos wants to blame the router or Spotify, but it’s them.  The router is fine after numerous reboots and diagnostics, all other WiFi devices in the home are fine.  Doesn’t make sense and Sonos is the outlier. 

I would like to purchase the Sonos Era 300 stands but am concerned about their stability on carpet, given the speaker’s weight.  I know Sanus makes a version with carpet spikes but the speaker height is too low for my setup.  Does anyone have experience with using the Sonos stands on thick carpet? 

Hi - would love to buy a Sonos speaker to connect to my Bluetooth record player and then handoff via WiFi to my pair of Play:1s in another roomIs that possible?! If so would a Roam work ?Many thanks

Hi Play:5, manufacturing date sometime around 2009, is completely dead. No light in LED. Found several cases of this online, but no solutions. Does anyone have any knowledge about the problem, og better yet, schematics.. I mainly suspect problem in switch mode power supply. Have only done very basic measuring, but I find 220VAC on primary side, no power on secondary side. I think about ordering a mosfet, and/or a diode I suspect, but if I had schematics I could do some more pinpointing..

Hello,  I have just received a second Sonos ERA 300 for Christmas and have added it to my first 300 with a sub mini. They work great together except when I used my turntable through Line In. Then just one of the speakers plays correctly and the other one at a greatly reduced volume. I’ve even swapped the speakers and the new one still plays about half volume even when it is the one with line in connected. Sonos support couldn’t help. Can you offer any guidance? Also balance isn’t an options at all in the app for this pair which seems odd. If I could adjust that I would think it would work.  Greg

Hi! My Sonos one stopped working some time ago. When I am trying to reconnect it with my phone it is just blinking constantly. I have tried to connect it with the network cable and also reset it but it still just continuing blinking. Need help!

My system has started exhibiting near constant connection issues on two speakers in particular. A (I think) first gen Play:3 and first gen Playbar are the problems for the most part. Started about 6 months ago maybe. At night I play rain sounds from my music library on 3 different rooms in my home. A Play:1, a Play:3 (the problem one) and the Playbar that’s part of a surround setup with the Sub and two Play:1’s. The Play:3 will only function for a few nights before it starts cutting out again. If unplug it and restart the speaker it seems to fix it for a few more days.  Same with the Playbar, though it can also exhibit similar issues with TV programming. When I play this audio from my library, each room is playing it independently, mainly because playing grouping across multiple rooms usually gives me problems as well. So like I said, rebooting the guilty speaker seems to fix things for a few days. It’s almost as if they are encountering so many errors they freeze up or something. 

Why does my sonos arc go to low volume whenever I use another sonos speakers that is connected?

I updated my first generation eero router to the Erro Pro 6e. Now, I can’t connect my Sonos system to the new network. I’ve deleted the network from the latest Sonos app many times. Invariably I get the error that there is a problem connecting my device to the network.

I have 2 Sonos One’s that I had been using. They worked great in stereo or in separate rooms. Everything worked great. I just received a Sonos Five (current gen) and hooked it up. Went through the installation process and now only the Ones show in the app. With some tinkering I got it so the Five showed up in the app but then the Ones weren’t. Now just the Ones are showing up again. I can airplay to all 3 with Apple Music but I can't do any configuration or grouping in my Sonos app without it showing up. Any thoughts?

Can i stream in stereo from my single FIVE (source Turntable Line in) to my stereo coupled ONE´s  in the kitchen and get stereo audio on the ONE´s (right now i can´t ...)

My router is LINKSYS WRT1900ACS. It broadcasts 2.4G and 5G in different SSID. But the 5G SSID never shows up in the ERA 100 WIFI connection list. My ERA 100 works well with 2.4G, but it can't detect my 5G WIFI, and can't get connected by manually input.My other devices, ipad, computer detects and works well with my 5G WIFI.

We have a play 3 and two play 1’s for 9 years and have recently had a lot of issues with lost connections. I have turned off the power, left it for a few minutes then turned it back on and it connects. This is becoming really annoying. There are no issues with the hardware and the speakers still sound great. If it is time to replace them then my question is why would I replace with Sonos if it will only work for less than 10 years?

Is anyone else having an issue with the bottom part of the screen peeling off of their white Era 100? It looks like little cracks running vertically up the screen, starting where the screen merges with the base of the unit. Almost looks like peeling paint, but I’m not about to test that. Should I file an RMA? 

I recently bought a pair of Sonos One SL. My HomePod was a disaster with frequent connection problems.I recognize the issues above and I have them with my pair of Sonos One SL as follows:Connection with my iPad and iPhone: Airplay connection can be made… but when I start a stream (Apple TV app or Apple Music App), the video starts and in case of Music the counter starts, but there is no audio. You can see the connection though Airplay indicated on the device, but after a few seconds the connection breaks and the audio starts playing through the iPad or iPhone speakers.I sometimes manage to get a working connection with audio after closing WiFi connection, restart of iPad/iPhone, but I did not find a solution that always works… A very strange behavior though… And… I can have a steady connection with Airplay from my Mac! How does Sonos voice assisant interface with Google Voice assistant ? I need them to work together 

Hi,I’ve used the Sonos upgrade program a number of times - without issue.  I’ve found an old Play:5 (gen1) of mine which definitely has not had the upgrade voucher used - it’s been unused and unplugged for years. I've downloaded the S1 app, specifically to create a new system for the Play:5 - logged in as my Sonos user.  The play:5 works fine and shows as a product on my ‘System’ on the Sonos website.  However, it doesn’t appear on the Upgrade list and interestingly, on the ‘system’ entry it displays - but where as all other eligible items state the upgrade status - this Play:5 doesn’t list this information at all.   any ideas how what could be wrong? And how I can initiate the upgrade credit if it’s not shown?   (I’ve tried the obvious - reinstalling the [s1] app, factory reset the play:5 etc…) thanks. 

At the end of the three years expected life of the rechargeable batteries . Can the be replaced or do you just throw away your Move speaker?

I’m currently putting in a deck that sits off the main floor of my house (kitchen/living room).  The deck will be half covered by a roof.  Within the ceiling of the roof I’m going to be installing two third party speakers and connecting them via 14 gauge wire which will be run into the house and connected to a sonos amp kept in a cabinet in my kitchen (see red circle in pic below).  I will also be mounting an outdoor TV directly on the other side of the wall of this cabinet.  I’m trying to figure out how I would connect this TV to the Sonos system so I can listen to the TV from the speakers being installed in the ceiling of the roof.  Thanks!  

I have just bought a Beam gen 2 and set it up. The setup process seemed to work fine but didn’t show in system. I have unplugged it and plugged back in as suggested by the setup wizard but still not there. I have left it all plugged in for 15 mins and still nothing. I have done factory reset 5 times now including connecting it via Ethernet. I have a Move on my system that connects perfectly (sound is awful on Bluetooth but that’s another story) so it’s not a problem with my network. Network is Vodafone super fast fibre router no separate Wi-Fi extenders and router is 12 feet away in the same room. Faulty Beam perhaps?

I have a pair of stereo paired One gen 1 and a sub gen 3 as one system. Recently the sub volume is stuck either too high or too low. So when I play a song at normal to high volume there’s almost no bass at all. If I lower the system volume to really low the bass sound is too prominent. Sometimes the sub volume is too high. It seems the sub volume does not change with the system volume but is either stuck too low or too high.  Anyone experienced this?
