I'd already been getting sick of the numerous updates to the controller app, but 8.6 did at least seem to have fixed a couple of things that were going wrong in 8.5. But the latest controller (android) update has been a farce and seemed to have broken various things that were working absolutely fine. - "Show Lock Screen Controls" - doesn't work - "Allow Volume Control on Home Screen" - doesn't work - starting the Sonos controller when something is already playing - it says no music is playing/ selected. I have of course uninstalled, reinstalled, reset it, and frankly am well and truly sick of the amount of dicking about required for what used to be so simple. (edit): about 5 minutes after posting this I reset the controller again, and finally - 2 days(?) after installing - it's working as it should. I have absolutely zero interest in Siri, Alexa or Dave the talking chimp. Please stop fannying around with the controller and just let us use our (quite expensive) speakers! If
I currently have several Play:1s and Play:5, all of them connected to my own wifi network and it works well. Still, I'd like to hardwire as many as I can while still use my own network, i.e. avoid sonosnet. In the Sonos Software release notes 9.2 the following can be found: "It is now possible to disable a player's built-in wireless using the Sonos App". Does this mean that I officially can hardwire a player and avoid sonosnet? If yes, would the right procedure be as follows; 1 - disable the specific player's wifi via the App 2 - hardwire the player Thankful for any feedback!
hi since a few days I always get this error message even I make some group requests; ERROR_RESOURCE_GONE Does anyone know what that means? The group is still available and I can see it with; https://api.ws.sonos.com/control/api/v1/households/HOUSEHOLDID/groups After about 10 minutes, the group can then be controlled again, without any changes ... Thank you!
The Manage tab on the controller on my Windows Vista PC has a number of items greyed out, including Library Music Settings and Update Music Library Now. These would presumably allow me to play my iTunes music on my Play 1, but, without them, I’m unable even to find out. How should I proceed, please?
Hi guys , My Sonos sub seems to Have lost a bit of its potency .. I’ve noticed this lately and I’m wondering if anyone has experienced this same issues ? I’ve made the right adjustments via the controller and on my TV set but to no avail . It seems weaker in regards to the bass .
Hi, Is there any plan to make the account optional again? It’s getting to an annoying point having to login or change the account email address each time a player drops out of the network. I have a Bluesound system as well (different location) and although this also suffers from occasional network issues with the wirelessly connected players, it’s very straightforward to get it solved. It’s getting to a point I will drop the Sonos setup in favor of Bluesound which works without any registration whatsoever and has far less network issues. Sonos, you’re become Bose, great marketing but poor customer experience. Sorry I have to say that. Hope you will get that snappy experience of pre 8 software version back anytime soon.
I have my PlayBar mounted on the wall below my TV and I am trying to eliminate seeing the IR blaster wire by using the TOP IR sensor. Is the top IR sensor disabled on the play bar? It will not accept any codes from an IR blaster or a remote control, Just the IR receiver facing me when looking at the bar will except codes.
I just completed the update and the first thing that struck me was the loss of the settling and calming blue colour to the text. Is there any way to get the blue text back? I find the blinding white light approach much less visually appealing - particularly the large white blocks where rooms are grouped together. Any way to set up a toggle switch so that those who prefer a particular colour can select that colour for the text?
Hi, I have a playbar, sub and 2 play 1's Currently I have my PC connected to my TV over HDMI and then the TV connects to the playbar over Optical - because of this Windows only let's me select "stereo" for the sound output format because Windows does not see the soundbar, it only sees the TV as a stereo sound system using it's EDID data during the HDMI handshake process I want to change this to Dolby Digital 5.1 so that I can get surround sound through the Sonos system How exactly do I go about getting this done? I know there are several options, but the two main ones seem to be getting some sort of HDMI to Optical switching tool which confuses the PC into thinking it's a 5.1 audio system OR another option I've found is getting a sound card which supports Dolby Digital Live encoding - that would allow me to connect the sound card to the playbar over optical and force all audio output into DD 5.1 format Has anyone done the above, which is easier/better and are there an
Hi, I have a retail store with two rooms- one is 2600 sq ft, the other is 1100 sq ft. I want to stream music from a desktop computer, mostly from internet radio, pandora, spotify, youtube. I want the volume and sound to fill the room nicely, but not be too loud for conducting business and having conversations. Occasionally we will have a party and want to crank the sound. I'm thinking of 2 Play 5's for the larger room, and 2 Play 1's for the smaller room. Does that sound about right? Thanks!
Hi guys, I'm Italian (sorry for my basic English) and finally after years of savings we've bought an house :) It's under constructions, we're moving on May '19 and I'm planning to buy a Sonos device(s) for the combo kitchen and living room, the area will be 39 square meters. Our needs is to fill the room not only on the front of the sofa, but also in the kitchen area, I've attach the room layout. Our use it's about 20% watch movies in stereo (may be Netflix in the future) and 80% listen to music by TV/smartphone through Spotify (free) or Synology NAS App. We've an Apple TV 3rd gen. and only Apple phones. The TV will be replaced before moving with a brand new OLED LG with HDMI-ARC. I've read others posts, but I'm still confused if the best for our needs will be beam, playbar or, ironically 2xplay3 for the sofa and 1xplay1 on the top of the Kitchen. Alexa isn't available now in Italy, it's in beta, but I'm not "exciting" about that. Very thanks for any helps!
When I set out to build a home theater system, I looked at different brands that offer floorstanding, bookshelf, in-wall, etc. I continued running into a road block where I felt my investment would not be worth anything if I decided to sell. Not the best way to approach a system but spending $500-900 per speaker, I knew that I would not even get 50% of that out of the speaker if I had to sell the system. Already being in the Sonos eco-system throughout the house, I wanted something more than a PlayBase or PlayBar type product so I went out on a limb to do something a little different. I researched different receivers and found one that was feature packed with pre-amp outputs for the surround sound channels. I purchased seven Play 5 units and already own two dedicated powered subs. (JL Audio Dominion's) With an 1/8" to RCA connector, I wired each speaker to the dedicated pre-amp output. Each Play 5 is set to AUX in. After setting the receiver's output to 120Hz and d
We will be moving house soon, and I am thinking of upgrading my TV, and possibly having it Wall mounted. I have the Playbase which my TV currently sits on. Am I trying to think how to have a tv wall mounted with a playbase without having wires showing and also will the wire reach that far enough. Does anyone have a playable paired with a wall mounted TV? and if so how have they done it? thanks for your advice
So, after the latest update, Windows UPnP is not happy with the service description of the DeviceProperties service. So our driver is broken again. This has been an ongoing issue. I know there's a new API, but until it's capable of replacing the UPnP API, it's not of much use to us. Anyone else see this yet?
I've connected my Samsung tv via rca jacks to buy sonia connect and play through Sonos 1 and 5. There is the slight delay which is not significant and if tv sound was turned down on tv not at all noticeable. But the sound will fade in and out about every 1 to 2 minutes. It's more than slightly distracting.
Can I control my Hive using Alexa on the Sonos Beam? I have my Hive connected via Ethernet to my broadband hub?
I'm seeing a lot of posts but not a clear solution to the issue. Is there any chance that I'm missing the fix for this? Based on what the Sonos program is telling me, it sounds like a connectivity issue, however it'll play through anything on Spotify Prem or Amazon Music without issue. Just playing from my phone's music creates some sort of skip when the phone goes to sleep after about two minutes or so. I have the iPhone XS Max with the current iOS, I've had the same issue since buying the speaker in June. Help?
So we have the problem where we are connecting to an Apple TV and sending a video to a TV through the Apple TV, when we do this it doesn't use the Sonos beam as the sound out put even though that is what we have selected on the Apple TV, please say there is an easy fix for this.
Hi there ive recently got into sonos and have 2 play 5s there amazing But i was looking to get a couple of play 3s i only use my sonos for music streaming etc and not for the tv but i noticed these have been discontinued i wanted one for the kitchen and one for the dining room Is anyone aware if there is going to be a new mid sized released or am i better tracking a couple of play 3 down any help or advice appreciated
I currently own an Onkyo amp with Tannoy speakers for a 5.1 system. Sound from the TV is now very good. I also own a Play3 for music. Whilst it's not as good as the 5.1 system it is fine for when we want to listen to music. I'm now considering ditching the Onkyo/Tannoy setup and getting another Play3 and a sound bar to create a wireless home theatre setup with an additional Sonos sub further down the line. My question is, when the system is setup for home theatre the rear speakers will be relatively quiet as they are just background noise. If I then want to play music through the system do I have to alter the settings or will the system know it's no longer dealing with the TV but playing music, therefore giving full power to all speakers? Thanks in advance.
Since the update my iPhone and iPad will not connect to my Sonos system. My partners iPhone and iPad still connects so I know it’s not a problem with my WiFi settings. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the app on both devices and rebooted the router. Any help / suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Currently I have the Playbar, 2 play 1’s and a sub. In this configuration I’m able to group my Sonos speakers in 5.1 with my TV connected. But it doesn’t support AirPlay 2. I’m wondering if I can plug my TV’s HMDI ARC into the Amp (which supports AirPlay 2), and have the Amp be the brain of my 5.1 group instead of my PlayBar?
This new upgrade sucks! No longer can control from iPhone lock screen! Not playing the entire song! Cut off some songs! Such a step back! Not good!!!
Hi, I just got the Beam. Initial setup was fine, everything worked well. TV is a LG 65C8. I have 2 Ones as surrounds. Now, TV sound cuts out and reverts to internal TV speaker every few seconds. Then back again to Beam, and so on. HDMI ARC port seems to be working - when I switch to HDMI 2 on the TV I see the Sonos black and white graphic without any cutouts. I’ve tried changing to another cable (started out with the Sonos cable bundled). Same thing. Pls help!
