Home Theater

So last week I updated the firmware on my router and it for whatever reason it dropped the Sub.    How exactly does this work, I thought the SUB builds a mesh network with the ARC and only uses the local wifi for setup. On the App it showed ARC (+?)    I had to basically reset the Sub and re-pair it from scratch.  Is this going to happen every time I update my router?

Update 11/28/24. The information in this post also applies to the Arc Ultra. Updated 9/14/23 to include Era 300’s as surrounds (which have upward firing drivers) that replaced Sonos One’s. All other information and guides are not affected by the change in surrounds.Quite often questions arise as to the proper placement of the Sonos Arc (and/or what type of room design). All Dolby Atmos speakers (as does the Arc) rely upon an optimum ceiling height to allow the upward firing speakers to reflect and bounce sound to the listening area. In traditional Dolby Atmos setups where all speakers are separate even the rears have an upward firing driver.Soundbars such as the Sonos Arc require (as much as possible) a symmetry of placement distance to the side walls as well. That allows for side firing speakers (that lend support to the upward firing speakers) to project rearward sound reflections to simulate surround when no actual rear speakers are used. Adding Sonos rears relieves the Arc of some o

I have bought several Sonos products so far: Arc, dual Sub, dual Five, dual Play one. I have tried several options to setup my home theater. Two of them are: (1) dual Five as surround, paired Play one grouped as front speaker to enhance dialogue; (2) dual Play one as surround, paired Five group as additional front speakers. I can tell there are some noticeable differences in terms of surrounding sound effect and dialogue from these two setups, but still cannot decide which setup to go. Our family room is quite big 17*25 feet with arched ceiling. I wonder if anyone here had a similar situation. Any suggestions are welcomed. BTW, any suggestions on the orientation of Five as surround, horizontal or vertical?

After the last sonos s2 update, my sub is suuuper intense - even when setting the sub to -2 or so. Who else is experiencing this? Thanks:)

Hi,I got the sound adapter with my beam and it so happens that my sound card has the socket for this.I can see in the sound settings that I am on Digital Audio (S/PDIF), although no sound comes out of the Sonos. What do I do?

The ARC lose connection to the TV when I play music and then want to then return to the TV or sometimes when the TV is turned on. The only way to fix it has been to unplug TV, ARC and HDMI cable.  Is there a permanent fix to this issue as I have seen multiple threads similar to mine, and not only for Samsung TV’s.

Hello. My soundbar will cut out whenever streaming netflix, hulu, etc. On hulu it seems to only go out after a commercial break and then no sound will come back until I turn the tv off and on again. Both the TV and soundbar are connected to WIFI. My google wifi does not allow me to change the network channel.

I’m using the new S2 app ( updated yesterday ) where the app will only connect from my phone to the Arc when I’m connected to the main router in the living room. if I connect to any of the mini q boxes from my phone the app basically said it cannot find my Sonos system. Due to poor wifi in the house, I need to run power over Ethernet to the mini q boxes or they don’t work hense the configuration. I have other devices connected to t

I have my beam connected to my Samsung TV via ARC, and confirmed in the Sonos app that the beam is receiving 5.1 when playing video. However, surround sound is not working with my connected pair of Sonos one SL (surround setup with Sonos app). For more context, I’m using the Netflix app on Samsung TV.

I have existing S1 products and never had any problems all wired with Ethernet.Just bought Beam, and three other components for TV surround.Got the Beam. The S2 app sees it when add product but the next step takes forever while the device is making the loud “chimes” and then disconnects.I have say I can only get to that point after powering off all of the S1 product because the lame S2 app always just sends me to the S1 app.To add to the confusion. The S1 app can try to add the Beam as well. With it I can pick add product, it shows the Beam and when it gets to the point it says to press the “infinity symbol” button and hear chime, I do that, it waits a min or so and gives me an error.I‘ve tried all suggestions I can find in knowledge base and community. Went through the chat bit to create a ticket.I am not liking what I’m seeing so far especially with the different apps. It seems running S1 and S2 doesn’t really work very well.Any thoughts, suggestions, similar experiences?I spent $150

Hello all,  Recently got Samsung The Frame (2020) and Sonos ARC. Sound started cutting out for 10 seconds then playing one second of sound in loops like that.  many hours to both companies support. Both made me do hard updates. No real change. No fix. Does anyone know if this is fixable. Actually fixable. I want to keep the arc but if it don’t work I have to take it back before my return policy runs out.  Many posts on here about it but all 6 months or more ago.  thank you for any insight.

I am adding a Sonos ARC sound bar connected to a Sony a8h and want to connect to my Sonos amp. Is it just one HDMi to the tv and then group the speakers in the app?

I received my Gen3 sub and paired it with Arc sometime ago, and I noticed that whenever something is payed through the TV, the sub will make this constant tickling noise like a bad PC fan. I have seen another thread about this problem, and I requested an RMA for replacement. The second sub I received have the exact same problem(even a bit worse than the first one).At this point I am not sure if I should spend more time requesting for another replacement. The noise is not noticeble from more than a meter away, but if you stick your ear close enough to the opening you can hear it. I have updated my system to the new 12.1 software, and it did not help. If this is indeed a widespread problem I think sonos should provide a solid solution for it. What is more, the problem is inconsistant with the content I played. If I play music through airplay or the sonos s2 app, the sub makes a hissing noice which is much less pronounced than the tickling noise it makes when playing through TV. I wonder

Hi all — I recently upgraded from the Playbase to the Arc, and my TV from an older Samsung to the Sony X950G. (I have the Sub and Play:1s for surround, too.)I noticed a strange phenomenon almost immediately, though, which Sonos support wasn't able to help me with: For many movies, even when the volume is low, the dialogue is maxing out—that is to say, the voices sounds as if they've gone into the red on a volume meter, like they're shouting into a microphone at close range: distorted and a bit fuzzy.Has anyone else encountered this issue, by any chance? I'm playing everything through my Apple TV 4K. I've been considering upgrading my HDMI ARC cable to, say, a Monster, but wanted to check with y'all before putting down the dough. Thanks!

I have a sonos Sub. I think it’s a Gen 1 but I’m not entirely certain.  Everything seems to be working fine. It’s updating correctly, its connected, visible in the app. I’m able to join it with other zones easily.  The problem is there is no audio output.  If anyone can help me out here I would appreciate it, please let me know what you need to know.

Like many I am now unable to listen to my TV over Sonos ...it's has gradually over the past few months got worse and worse since going over to the new app...it started with stuttering sound to complete blanks ...now the app will not even recognise my TV...this is since this new Success box that keeps popping up every time it decides to play anything...with my recent expansion of purchases a sub and two ports I thought with the addition of a second beam I would be set up .....but no new HDMI cables switching on off the linking, the booting unplug this change that...so I am sat here with 2k worth of sub beam left and right which can't play anything from my TV so apart from Spotify it's pretty redundant...absolutely fuming like others check my TV firmware etc I'm sure il get we are working on it...but I expected a lot more at this price not happy at all with my purchases or choice of equipment in future I will go elsewhere but it's a bloody expensive mistake ...

My SONOS ARC is connected via eArc connection on my LG65GX tv and sound is playing through the sound bar but i am unable to use the LG remote to control the sound level on the ARC but it works with the SKY Q remote, also when i go through set up on the SONOS S2 app it shows the TV is not connected nor does the remote set up work. I have been through various threads and online advise and nothing has worked including fully resetting both products, check for software updates, setting it up in the TV as Philips etc I am using the HDMI cable supplied with the ARC, any ideas what to try next??

HELP my sonos sub isn’t working at all, I have connected it and disconnected it and it’s still not producing any bass with my sonos beam and two sonos ones and I have a code for diagnostic 1086014768

I have a new Arc SL (Costco version), and experiencing issues connecting to a 2018 QLED Samsung TV through HDMI Arc. Previously I had a Beam+Sub+Surrounds connected. The TV sensed a proper Dolby Digital connection with the Beam. After connecting the new Arc, neither Dolby Digital nor Dolby Digital Plus protocols are available to select. Obviously, no Atmos, nor Dolby digital. Wondering if anyone has a similar issue with either the Arc SL (purchased at Costco) or with the actual Sonos Arc, standard edition.

I too am having issues with intermittent audio between my new 65” 2020 Samsung Frame TV and my new Sonos Arc. Every morning, after the tv has been off, the audio is intermittent: maybe ½ second of sound every 3 seconds. The tv is connected with a new high speed HDMI cable (came with the Arc) into the eArc port in the TV.  Unplugging the sound bar from power and plugging back in fixes the issue as long as the tv stays on. But this is not a solution, only a work around.  I am so tired of this problem I have forgone the ATMOS feature and connected the ARC to the tv using the provided optical converter.  Does anyone no of a fix for this? Sonos tells me to unplug the ARC and Samsung tells me to unplug the TV. Neither seem to have a fix.  Sonos - please help a loyal and long time customer!

I own a Sonos Beam and Move. I was shocked when I brought home the Move because it was more of a light gray than white. I also ordered the Sub and I am thinking about upgrading my Beam to the ARC but I was wondering if the shade of white matches now.

Good morning and a happy new year to the Sonos community. My issue is that after I have powered-on my Sonos speakers, I get no sound from my Sonos One SLs while watching TV until I have repeated the TV Setup in the Sonos 2 app.Music is fine, just TV.For info:TV is LG 55 CX

For well over a year I was a fairly happy Sono’s owner.  11 speakers, 4 rooms and a Move - everything usually worked and all was well.  About a month ago that all changed.  During a storm we had our power flicker a few times (every device plugged into a surge and my media room is on its own surge - nothing damaged) - long enough to clear the clocks on a few things but not long enough to start the generator.  From that day I have spent 30+ hours trouble shooting my system to get it back.Let me confirm every speaker can connect and play but not at the same time - 9 out of 11 is the best i’ve gotten so far.  Beginning to think this is part of the iOS issues recently listed but not corrected?I have read just about every forum and help file but have reached the end of the line.  You might ask “have you contacted support?” and the answer is I have not.  I have had only one support experience with Sono's but it is scared in my brain as being one of the worst support experiences I have ever ha

Sonos Arc sound cutting in and out.Connected to a Samsung arc hdmi input and the speaker makes a clicking sound and reduces the volume to approx 10% eveytime I increase the volume. All devices connected to network hardwired so not down to a weak WiFi connection.Tried a hard reset on all devices including network, seems to be OK for a couple of minutes then reverts back to the issue.Any help appreciated.

I just purchased a Beam for my (modest) home theatre set-up, and I’m quite enjoying the idea of jumping deeper into the Sonos ecosystem. I’m debating purchasing a pair of Ones to improve my experience of music while roaming through the apartment (i.e. by placing one in bedroom and one in kitchen). But, this feels a bit too luxurious for my annual income, so I’m looking for some extra value-added. Would it be possible to use this pair of speakers in a modular fashion? I.e. during the day, they could be set-up in different rooms, but at night (or when needed), they could shift into position as rear speakers in a home theatre surround sound system (albeit without the Sub)? Would this kind of a flexible/modular system be simple enough to maneuver through the app? Or is the process of identifying speakers as part of a surround system a bit more time-intensive / cumbersome than I’m imagining? (And, more specifically: is it possible to set-up surround rears without having a Sub as part of the
