Play 1’s too quiet on surround sound

Hi guys, Has anyone got sonos playbase hooked up to epson tw6700w projector? Has it worked in your case? The wireless module has got optical and so I was wondering. Any advice much appreciated.

Hi everyone Just purchased a Sonos Sound Bar and Sub and Sonos connect amp. The setup I want is to use the Sound Bar And Sub when just watching t.v But when I watch the music chanel I will want to have my ceiling speakers (which are on the connect amp) with my sound bar and Sub. Or when using my mobile to throw music at my connect amp I want the Sound Bar and Sub to join in. Which is know is all capable with Sonos but my question is since I want to be turning amp off and on depending on what I'm doing is it better to not have it hard wired to the Sound Bar or does it make no difference at all ? I thought it was hard wired might always be on together all the time ?? Kind regards Antony

Purchased playbar yesterday and very happy with the set up in my small lounge. I have the playbar running with two play ones and im very pleased with the sound. Just one question. The playones are set up as part of the “home cinema” and labelled under “Lounge”. Can I also set up the playones to run music as a stereo pair under a new label “lounge 2” and will this effect the lounge tv set up with the playbar? Hope I have explained this ok? Basically, playbar and two play ones currently set up as lounge home cinema so playing music means most coming from playbar. If I set up the playones as stereo pair and call it lounge 2 will this work or destroy the tv / home cinema settings as currently set for lounge? Thanks all and happy new year.

Hello all, Can someone let me know if there are issue with the way in which SONOS handles 7.1 Dolby Atmos mixes? I got bought the UHD release of The Fifth Element for Christmas and I just went to watch it, but the dialogue is so quiet, it is essentially a silent movie. The score and sound f/x can all be heard, it's just the dialogue. I can hear it provided I turn the system up to a level that would be deafening if I were playing music, but then once the action sequences kick in, I have to turn it right back down because the rest of the mix is too loud. I can never tell with the error is with the mix of the discs or SONOS. I've come to the conclusion over the last few years that SONOS is great for music, but a complete train wreck as a home theatre unit, and every time I get one of these issues I become even more disenchanted. Cheers, Andy

Is there a way to sync my Playbar, Sub Woofer and two Sonos 1's surround sound system with the video content? It seems to be just a tad off: like one-tenth of a second.

I just bought a new playbar and sub, but after searching google and the support site, I cannot make it work. I have reviewed many if not all current posts on the topic. I have attempted to follow the instructions found here: https://sonos.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/4267. My TV is model 60LS5750 and I believe is from 2012. This is an example of the remote I have (which is different from the support site): https://www.ebay.com/i/162642318661?chn=ps&dispctrl=1. From what I can tell, I do not have a "device connector" menu option from anywhere in the Home screen or Settings. I can turn SIMPLINK off, but it appears when I configure the TV to use external speakers, it turns SIMPLINK on by default. Are there other options here that I'm missing? I also have a Roku Ultra and attempted to leverage that for volume control, but in searches for that, I ended with similar results in that I thin that path is not an option. Thoughts? Any support would be greatly appreciat

Can I pair with my denon amp or would the connect work. And can I listen to say you tube from my smart tv or a music dvd in my living room and listen to a Sonos speaker in another room also. I’m looking To put a speaker in my bathroom. Not sure how to go about it. Is the Sonos one better than the new Sonos with Alexa

My system constitutes a Sonos Playbar connected to a Sony XBR55X850C television. The audio connection is by an audio optical cable. The television is also connected to a TiVo. When pressing the fast forward command for the TiVo, a popping noise is produced by the PlayBar. I have tried searching the forum and have not found this issue, but I may have missed it. If anyone knows how to fix this I would appreciate a comment. Otherwise, great sound from the PlayBar. Thanks

Can the playbar understand multiple remote controls? I have a media server remote control as well as a TV remote control. Lets say I have the media server remote in my hand, normally, this wouldn't be able to turn up the TV volume (as it controls just the volume output from the media server). Can the playbar understand both to save me reaching for the TV remote everytime?

Would be great if I could stream stereo (I have 2 Play1s setup as a stereo pair) audio from my smart TV to my Sonos. Then I could all but retire my 300 watt amp and 4' high speakers connected to my TV/Blue Ray player. I can cast from my PC - I should be able to do the same from my smart TV. Choose the IP addresses as I do from my PC and broadcast great stereo from the TV of Blue Ray player.

I have a playbar mounted to the wall, the optical cable has to make a 180 deg turn to connect the the tv. What is the minimum bend radius or the optical cable for the playbar.

Hi. I note a number of forums about the failure of Sony Blu-ray players converting DTS to DD5.1 over HDMI but wondered if anyone had successfully managed the conversion using a coaxial cable that inputs into a Toslink converter? I have a Sony BDP-s6500 and any input would be helpful before I waste any money on a digital coax to optical converter and coaxial cable. Should add that I have asked Sony the same question but to date I've had no reply Thanks

I currently have a Bose Lifestyle 48 system, but want to slowly convert to SONOS. My current system (Bose) has 4 cubes, 1 center speaker, and 1 sub (all connected to the bose lifestyle 48) I am also using a LG OLED e7p 65" tv (if that matters) 1) I am wondering if I could possibly start with a SONOS Playbar and connect it to work with my current surround sound system? 2) In your honest opinion, for a large theater room, is the current Sonos home theater suggested set up (2 play 1's/3's, a sub, and a playbar) able to handle high quality surround sound for large rooms? If not, would it be possible/better to connect 4 play:1's/3's (two of which in the back), a playbar, and a sub? Or is sonos even up to the task of providing surround sound for such a large room? I understand some people will say "Go do research". I have done research, but find conflicting answers and would prefer honest answers from people who actually know about the products Thanks for any answers, tips, or

For any potential buyers out there, the Nintendo Switch only supports 5.1 LPCM, which can't be decoded by the Playbar and Playbase. It is likely getting downmixed to stereo and then getting sent to the Sonos. Also, the Switch will likely not add any Dolby support, as the Wii U before it could also only output 5.1 in LPCM. Sound will still play out of the rear speakers and the SUB, since Sonos matrices those to create "fake 5.1". The one potential upside is that the Nintendo Switch menu has an option to select "Surround Sound" as output. There is a very slight possibility that it might try to downmix the 5.1 source into 2.1 on the fly, mixing the surround information into the FL and FR channels but that's highly unlikely. That comes with the potential theoretical downside that if you select Surround Sound as output, you're losing some of the surround channel data since in a 5.1 encoded audio, a lot of the signal is encoded into the front center speaker with a lower level going to th

Hello Everyone. I am thinking of buying a Playbar for my Flat Screen, however the TV is mounted in a recess between two wall units. Recess is 16" deep and distance between the wall units is 48". Will the sound be significantly diminished if I wall mount the soundbar? Option 2 will be to build a bracket between the shelves to mount the soundbar closer to the face of shelving unit, so that the soundbar extends beyond the edge of the units. Not the preferable option as this will visuallystick out a bit more. FYI, the soundbar will have to go above the TV in either case, but I don't think this is an issue. Any opinions or advice?

Sigh. I wanna love Sonos. But lip sync is not working. Sonos imposes enough audio delay to annoy for TV use. Are there any work arounds? My understanding is that Sonos is imposing some latency due to wifi use. I read in one place 30ms, which isn't bad, but I read another place 70ms. The thing is my TV is already adding some delay compensation to the audio to match audio to video processing delay, such that what you see from the TV and hear from the audio is pretty much in sync... Its assuming that any soundbar I might be using won't be adding any more delay. There is no way for me to turn that off on my TV that I have been able to find: Sony XBR-65X850B. If anyone knows a secret way to disable it on the TV, I'd love to try it. Are there any other work around? If I put the sub and soundbar onto wired ethernet, will the latency on sonos be reduced? I have heard I might need to get an HDMI switch that splits out the audio to optical before hitting the TV, and feed th

Hi, I've tried out PLAYBAR, 2x Play:1 and SUB. But I'm not convinced, especially when it comes to use the system for music listening. I miss the "solid dynamic sound" from the PLAYBAR as you get in a Play:5. I love the SUB though, it's amazing. However, I've been thinking about a solution like this: - 2x Play:5 as front speakers. -1x Play:3/Play:5 as center speaker. - 2× Play:1 as rear speakers. - 1x SUB My question is, does Sonos support this set up for 5.1 surround? If, do I need to add any extra components?

Hi There, I've been going through similar topics here on the forums for a while now and am still unable to get any audio through my sonos from the TV. The TV is a LG 55B7 55" OLED. I have a Playbase connected to two Play:1 speakers. The red light in the optical input on the playbase is glowing, the cable from the TV to the playbase is also glowing red. There doesn't appear to be any other troubleshooting steps I can take at this time. The playbase/play:1 setup was working fine with my previous TV and the RCA cable connections. I can't seem to get the Line-in to recognize that there is signal coming in. It just tells me "To use Line-in, connect a device to a Line-in capable Sonos player."

For the last few weeks we have an intermittent problem where we lose sound when changing TV channels. Disconnecting the optical cable and plugging it back in cures the problem for a while and then it will happen again. Once the sound is on and the channel not changed it is fine, sometimes switching from a channel will lose the sound and it won't come back on even when switching back to the original channel. Any ideas?

Hi Im having 2 different problems with My Sonos system, wich is quite new out the box. System: Two Play 1 speakers One soundbar One sub Set Up as surround, plugged in with optimal cable to my television, soundbar is connected with ethernet and the rest Wireless. The soundbar is giving a constant low " high pitch " noise at All times wich is getting really annoying when not watching tv or listening to television - my soundbar is placed 2 meters from my router. I have encountered that my playbar wont always go to standby after watching television, so even after 8 hours of sleep, and i enter the loving room, i can hear the high pitch Sound, and then i know it hasnt even went idle/standby. I ran the diagnose: 8263252

I just got a PLAYBAR for Christmas and am trying to figure out if I can use it with my current system. I currently have a Denon receiver connected to 2 Def Techs towers (front L and R) and a Def Tech Center channel. I also have two ceiling speakers connected as well. Lastly I have a connect hooked up so I have it all on Sonos. Will the PLAYBAR work with this setup or so i basically have to scrap the system and then get a connect amp and run the rear ceilings so i have surround sound?

I have the play bar, sub, and two play1's set up as surround system to my Panasonic Viera. All of a sudden the system shows in the living room only the following: "+?+LS+RS". Where is my Playbar and sub?

Let me first say, I love Sonos as a product. They look stylish, are extremely simple to set up and operate -- and are reliable. That said, I can't help but find myself frustrated at the Sonos Playbar and Playbase. The features these components are lacking are just baffling to me. I could understand when Sonos refused to support "high resolution" audio for music. The argument was a cost benefit one - and I could see where Sonos felt that the customer demand did not equal the costs of support. But, when it came to home theater - things change. You cannot assume that home theaters are equivalent to music - especially to people willing to invest more than a thousand dollars on theater gear. People experience cinema differently than music. The argument that held water for audio was weak when it came to home theater. The argument for audio was "the majority of music listeners are moving to online sources and we support these more lossy options" and CD quality. But, whe

I love my Sonos Playbar, Sonos Bass & two play 5’s. I’ve owned & still own full Bose wired surround sound & they have been great for over 17 years. I’m wondering if I’m getting enough out of my play 5’s using them as the rear speakers in my surround system for my living room. While playing music it’s off the chain, but doesn’t seem to Dazzle me in 5.1 like the rear speakers of my Bose. Does Sonos lack the ability to control the output of the rear surround sound ?? Do I need to buy play 3’s & move my 5’s elsewhere ? Everyone says they love the play 1’s but I like the full sound of the 3’s & 5’s. Again as far as music they are wonderful but movies lack true surround sound. What gives ??
