I just bought a new playbar and sub, but after searching google and the support site, I cannot make it work. I have reviewed many if not all current posts on the topic. I have attempted to follow the instructions found here: https://sonos.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/4267. My TV is model 60LS5750 and I believe is from 2012. This is an example of the remote I have (which is different from the support site): https://www.ebay.com/i/162642318661?chn=ps&dispctrl=1.

From what I can tell, I do not have a "device connector" menu option from anywhere in the Home screen or Settings.

I can turn SIMPLINK off, but it appears when I configure the TV to use external speakers, it turns SIMPLINK on by default.

Are there other options here that I'm missing?

I also have a Roku Ultra and attempted to leverage that for volume control, but in searches for that, I ended with similar results in that I thin that path is not an option.

Thoughts? Any support would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Hi, I got this to work only yesterday, but it took some doing. I do have the more recent magic remote though, not the one in your picture. The instructions from the Sonos site you have linked didn’t work for me either.

For me I went to device connector on my LG tv. Changed input to optical. Set up sound bar, but select Phillips, Remote type 3 (this differs from Sonos instructions). Complete setup in device connector. I also did turn off simplink per Sonos instructions (I’m not sure whether this makes a difference though). Then go to Sonos app and set up remote: settings / room settings / ... / tv setup and control.

Once I changed to Phillips remote type3 the tv setup in Sonos changed and excluded the part where it tries to detect the mute button, which did not work previously.

I note you said you can’t find device connector on your lg. This was not the case for me... maybe make sure your tv software is up to date??

Hope this makes sense. Good luck
Thanks Cyclebob! Yes, I have validated my TV is up-to-date; I manually force it to check and it says it's at the current version. It seems like "device connector" to tell the TV what to do is the key part - but I am not seeing it as an option. It seems that "device connector" may only be on the LG TVs running WebOS? That didn't come out until 2014 I think; my TV is from 2012 and runs Netcast 2.0.
Hmmm... yes, the solution I outline won’t work without the device connector or some equivalent. Maybe someone with a similar vintage LG TV will have an idea
Thanks again, Cyclebob! I hope so! Or someone from Sonos!
I'd double check in the Home Theater area of this forum, there may be some information there for you.
Thanks Airgetlam. Yep, I have reviewed every forum submission with the word "magic" or "lg remote" but no dice.
Then it may be time to call in and talk to a technician. https://www.sonos.com/contact
Cyclcobs fix did the trick for me. Thanks, it was driving me crazy!!
I think mine has to do with the version of TV and that it's running netcast 2.0 vs. webcast (my TV is from 2012). I bought this remote and it did the trick (matched to my TV model of course).

But I'm up and running and reduced the number of controllers needed!

Really glad that worked for someone else too! Happy listening.
