Hi all, after just mounting the playbar on the wall under the tv I noticed the sonos book that says "to preserve audio quality, ensure the connector panel faces away from the tv". Does this have to do with the sonos from part being either at the top or the bottom as long as the cords are leaving at the back of the playbar into the wall? Right now I have the cords coming out of the top (optical, ethernet etc) of the playbar which because it is under the tv would mean it is facing TOWARDS the tv (ie the silver part of the unit is at the top ). I did this because it looked better because you could see the cords more when they came from the bottom (AWAY) from the tv. Does this matter much or is it overstated? Don't see how it would make a difference even though it says it on the playbar booklet

Hello, first post so please go easy! I received my Beam on launch day and setup seemed to be a breeze. I managed to integrate it into my system (2 other Play 1s) and music plays (still plays) without issue. The issue seems to be with the connection to my LG TV. Initially this all worked, sound was good and Alexa turned it off/on and adjusted the volume. After a couple of hours use the Alexa control over the TV seemed to stop working but the TV sound was fine. Then the TV was turned off via the remote and since turning it back on the speaker does not output any TV sound - music/radio can still be played via the Sonos app. I’ve checked my settings and confirmed HDMI ARC is selected and CEC is on. I’ve tried powering down both the TV and the Beam and also repeatedly used the app to connect the speaker. When I try to test the Simplink connection I see a HMDI 2 (ARC) pop up on the screen but then the test fails - I’ve tried this repeatedly and get the same results. When this

My Beam recognized my TV immediately when the replacement cable was installed

I set up our new Beam, and while it is working fine, when we attempt to use the volume control on our Comcast remote, we see an obnoxious "Not Available" message on the TV every time we turn the volume up or down. Has anyone else experienced this? For what it's worth, I had to use the optical cable setup because our Samsung TV doesn't have an HDMI Arc connection.

I do not have HDMI ARC on my TV so I'm using the optical converter to get sound from the Beam. However, the sound keeps going in and out and I cannot get a good connection. I feel like the optical input is in all the way but whenever the cable is moved or bumped, I lose the sound. Any suggestions?

What sound will the Sonos Beam (only using this speaker in my TV set-up) output when using Sky Q? Am I right in understanding it will be Dolby Digital?

How do I switch back to TV input after listening to music. Currently I,m having to turn the TV off and back on to resume TV input.

I bought the new beam last month and took delivery yesterday. I have other sonos products and have set up many times. After setting up the beam I was so disappointed when the ARC HDMI did not stay connected and causes a constant switching between TV & external speaker. I spent about 2 hours on the phone with sonos support to no avail. Can anyone help?

Hey guys Just picked up at ATV 4K and I cannot figure out the settings for it to pass 5.1. I have it hooked up to a Samsung Q7F QLED tv. My Xbox one and PS4 are having no issues with 5.1. When I go into setting on the TV it will not let me select Dolby. I have tried different cables and inputs with no luck. I have Dolby 5.1 selected on ATVs audio output. Anyone have this problem or solutions?

I am having trouble listening to full Dolby 5.1 through my PlayBase, Sub, and two Play:1's. My Sonos app reads "Stereo" for the Audio In information under "About My Sonos System". The sound comes through on all 4 speakers, but it is hardly 5.1. It all sounds the same. THEN, after playing around, I figured out that connected my PlayBar to my Xbox One through an Ethernet Cable allows me to see "Dolby Digital 5.1" instead of "Stereo"... BUT now I cannot connect my Xbox One to WiFi because it now thinks I have a Wired Connection... Is there a way to get Dolby Digital 5.1 through an Xbox without connecting the Xbox to the Playbar via an Ethernet Cable? Is there a way on an Xbox One to have a Wired Connection that is not for internet connected and still use Wifi? I'm aware that this problem could be with one of three pieces of hardware: 1. Hey guys I have a projector Epson EH-TW5400, and two play:5's, and two play:1's. I am looking to buy the sonos Beam, and use it as the center, and use the two play:1's to create a 5.0 surroundsound setup. The projector will be in the back of the room, and the beam will be in the front of the room. The projector does not support HDMI ARC. I was considering to use the Optoma WHD200 Wireless HDMI system to connect the projector and Beam wirelessly, but since my projector doesn't support HDMI-ARC this doesn't seem to be possible. Alternatively, would it be possible to connect my Chromecast, AppleTV and PS4 to a hometheater receiver, using HDMI-IN, and then using HDMI-OUT from the reciever to send the audio/video signal to two differen't sources, being the Beam, and the projector, or how would I do this ideally? I was thinking with the Beam on the market, there should surely be a way to do this, but I'm probably overlooking the obvious. - I'm not interested in buying a diffe

Hi, Im hoping that the sonos beam will allow me to replace my amplified and traditional speakers. Effectively I want to get rid of my amp and pump the sound from any device connected to the TV over HDMI (via a HDMI switch) out to the Beam and the Sonos speakers I already have. Any thoughts on whether this is possible with the beam? thanks in advance.

New to the Sonos world so this is my first purchase to replace an aging Yamaha AV receiver and floorstanders, the wife is happy with the extra space she now has! Bought from John Lewis with the benefit of the 2 year warranty. Very impressed so far, was a breeze to setup. Using HDMI ARC and we can control the volume of the Sky Q box. Alexa works well, we can also replace our Echo Dot in the living room which is handy. Seems to work fairly seamlessly, the downside is I now want the rears and the sub :) Thanks

Hello, can the beam adjust volume using TV's IR remote if it is connected via HDMI-ARC? The Beam will cover my TV's IR sensor but I would like to connect it via HDMI. Will I be able to adjust volume through the Beam's IR sensor when the TV sensor is blocked?

Playbar makes an intermittent popping sound while watching tv. I have it connected to a Vizio M60 via optical cable. Any help would be appreciated.

I have had a playbase for 6 months working absolutely fine with a 7 year old Samsung, blue ray player and Apple TV. I have updated to an LG B7 OLED, Sony 4K blue ray player and a Apple TV 4K, however the playbase is really quiet and I am getting inconsistent performance. It seems to me like when it is receiving a 5.1 signal it is only playing the centre channel, I say this as it is outputting background and action sound, but dialogue is very quiet and I cannot hear it. If I switch the source to Stereo it seems to resolve the issue, but I cannot change the 4K player to a stereo signal. If you can provide any advice that would be great, as I’m gutted it’s not working!

Since purchasing the Apple TV 4k, I get about 1/2 second audio dropout once every three songs or so and during shows or movies. I don’t have this issue if I am streaming to the PLAYBAR from my iOS device from the Sonos app, but just when watching something or playing music directly from the new Apple TV. However, if I listen to audio from the Apple TV with Bluetooth headphones, there are no audio dropouts. Any help is appreciated!

I've not been successful picking up a Dolby Digital signal through the HDMI ARC link of my TV. By using the HDMI optical adapter and connecting Beam direct to my Sky Q box, I'm now picking up Dolby Digital 2.0. By doing this I lose the ARC functionality but are there any noticeable differences of listening to Dolby Digital 2.0 through my Beam versus stereo? No plans at this stage to add more Sonos to TV set-up.

Hi there, just installed my new playbar. When not emitting music / sound (so when it is powered on but idle) the playbar is emitting a high pitch noise. It's just about audible - but as it is so high in pitch it is very annoying and means I have to turn the power off. What can I do.

Are there plans to release a Sonos Connect type device with HDMI connectivity? Here's why I ask. The HDMI connection between my TV and receiver allows my TV to both power up the receiver and to directly control the volume level of the receiver. (not just the line level out to the receiver) I would love to be able to do this with a Sonos type device. I picture walking into the house after a long day, opening up the Sonos app on my phone or tablet, playing a track and the Sonos device automatically powering up my receiver (including direct volume control). All this without having to walk to the hi-fi component shelf to power up the receiver and choose a suitable volume level etc..

Setting up a new Sonos Beam, audio sounds great as expected when playing music or when the xbox is set to sterio. But, I cannot get it to play when setting the xbox to 5.1 or bitstream (dd). My TV settings seem to be correctly setup to pass DD through HDMI, but I'm just getting nothing. I don't even know how to go about testing it until I can get another 5.1 input device to test the TV pass through. I think the problem is with the xbox, not the Beam, but I'm hoping someone here has encountered something similar.

I have 6 devices that I have currently connected (using HDMI) to an Yamaha receiver with 5.1 wired speakers, and sending the video to my TV. How can I get rid of the Yamaha receiver and connect the 6 devices to Sonos, still being able to select wich device I want to hear end see?

Heya. I am trying to figure out if there is an easier way to connect a 3.5mm audio to a Sonos Beam. I'm just curious if anyone has ever seen any.
