Talk about Sonos S1 and S2 Controller apps for mobile, and the desktop app. This is also the place to talk about partner apps, Airplay, and direct control.

Want to queue albums or tracks, play next or add to end of queue or just play top tracks for an artist... JUST CANT DO ANY OF ITAlso with volume please bring back digits as well as slider, lots of us have a sweet spot depending on what we're doing while listening. Did none of this come up with beta testing. Major fail SonoS!
Used mainly for streaming iTunes library. At first not recognising the shared music file on my NAS. I then loaded the Sonos S2 App on my Mac Studio and was able to delete and re-enter the music directory on to my Sonos Port. Next, still on my Mac, my NAS password was not accepted so I deleted the password and re-entered it and this time was accepted. From my iPad, my NAS music folder was visibly present on my Port including album art. So S..L..O..W, but I was able to select a file to play, however, on every occasion I got a “something went wrong message”. This is where I am now, no music able to play yet. Fortunately, I have another brand of streamer which continues to access and play from the same music folder. If the Sonos app problems still persist in a month’s time I will ditch my Port. I feel sorry for those users who have invested intensively in Sonos products. My Port is connected by ethernet and I have also dis-connected my boost.
Is it possible to revert to the previous version of the app. I installed the new version about a week or ago and now my entire system is pretty much unusable. I can’t play anything from my music library which previously was fine and if I try to play a radio stream it plays in random rooms and I can not turn it off.
“The Sonos app is redesigned and better than ever. Get the latest update now.”Yes, that’s honestly the banner at the top of this page:Sonos liesHilarious Sonos - let me rewrite that banner for you:The Sonos app is redesigned and worse than ever. Get the latest update now if you want to lose a lot of functionality and really regret doing it.Looks like their headphones will be released this week and I won’t be throwing good money after bad - a boycott might remind them who pays their wages.
For those (geek, advanced android user) who want comfort and not wait for the return of this function, with Android only and luck, you can use the much missed Macronos application (His dev should have been hired by Sonos...).But you have to find the apk on an alternative store.Afterwards it's quite intuitive. And there are many other features, such as quickly launching a favorite on a speaker or a group of speakers.Macronos has still been working as well for years even though this App is no longer supported. Oh thank you very much!By the way, another feature that is really missing and which does not appear much as feedback is the control via the notification bar and the lock screen.Having to systematically open the app to adjust the volume or stop the music is simply a nightmare! It is urgent need to restore this control!
App randomly tells me no products are connected, makes it's own decisions when to increase or decrease volume, and at the moment tells me Abba is playing although I know 100% it's Black Sabbath! How can I go back to the previous version.?Not running a large or confusing system - 4x1's, 1x3, 1xconnect.
How frustrating. I spent all day trying to get Sonos to connect to my iTunes library (music folder). End result, I had to turn on file sharing, but my MAC would not allow me to do so. sTo get around that I opened terminal and did it manually via command line - sudo launchctl load -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.smbd.plistwhile you have terminal open type whoami to see the name you are logged in with and use that when prompted for user name and passwordso go back into system preferences-sharing and be sure file sharing is now turned on from manually turning on in terminal... be sure you click on the music folder and click options and make sure to check the box for “share files and folders using SMB now go back to Sonos app on your MAC and manage - Music Library Settings - and click the plus sign under the empty box to add location of your music. Choose the last option (network device or NAS drive). Here is where you need to put your \\computer name\location of your music and
Thanks for making the app such that I can’t even run it on my preferred old devices (and killing the old S2 app, which worked on everything in my house). Not everyone wants to buy a new phone every year. The last thing I expect is for my stereo system to essentially be useless because I can’t run the app anymore, especially from things like an old iPod touch (which I keep using for music). I expect these things to work for more than three years. Apparently, you don’t (at least on the software side).
I have an array of S1 compatable speakers and amps. I just purchased a Move speaker (not the Move2) as you can convert it to be compatable with ios S1 app. The problem is the option to downgrade within the app seems to be unavailable at the moment. How can i downgrade the move speaker?I have tried setting up the speaker in S2 thinking i might be able to downgrade it there and then delete the app and seach for the speaker but can’t find the function in the S2 app either.Any help of advice greatly apprciated.
Sonos, did you fire your UX Designer on your most recent update. It is a horrible. I’m not sure it even works. Still trying to get my system working. It’s difficult or impossible to play the same music on all speakers.
I was able to buy a couple of Sonos One and a soundbar why my company moved in a new location and was eager to make them play. I must add that I own a complete system at home and was very happy with it. The was is the key and everything said was before the f%”=)&?/(ç”(&g update the S2 App. I have applied a factory reset to the units and tried to build a new system. Then it quickly turned to a real nightmare.First of all, the Sonos App wants to know your exact location. Except of trying to get a maximum of data about you, I don’t see the point. Then the App was able to find the first Sonos One and tried to connect it to a WiFi network. So far so good but the WiFi network selected was not the one my smartphone was connected to.After many other iterations, I believe (absolutely not sure) my smartphone and the Sonos One were on the same WiFi network. Then came the update of the Sonos One since it was disconnected for about a year. The update was, guess what, unsuccessful …You can tr
My system has worked fine since the upgrade but this morning I’m unable to connect via the App or manually.I deleted the App and reinstalled but still doesn’t connect, no support available till Monday.
I have some audio tracks that I made for a project I’m working on and I want to hear them on my Sonos system. I know that the tracks are fine because I can put them in “Local Files” on Spotify on my iPhone and then play them in my car. But no matter how I export the audio files, the Spotify speaker icon shows my Sonos speakers grayed out with the message “Can’t play this track”. It would be extremely helpful if it actually explained *why* it can’t play the track, but it doesn’t do that. So, what does this message mean and how can I bounce my tracks from Logic Pro so that they will play on my Sonos system? Thanks!Best,Jon
Found this today and it actually looks reasonable from Sonos’s perspective…and from the perspective of sonos needing long-term, sustainable, service revenue from us. again, this is not my opinion “After having played around with play.sonos.comTried it on , macos ubuntu iOS, on iPad, 17.4.1, 15.8.2 - via safari/firefox - functional iPad 12.5.7 - via safari/firefox loads, not functional I am left with the impression that going forward; the new app has the same functionality as play.sonos.com the app is effectively a wrapper, for the web service (API) the app is therefore limited by the lack of functionality currently available in the new web service (API) We as users are being separated from our Sonos devices currently we connect to the Sonos device directly on our local LAN - via the app, the player/device has it’s own operating system - you can also access it either via it’s own http server or as a DLNA/UPnP media device. You can access your device on port 1400 (
Does anyone know if S1 has also dropped the use of SMBv1 in the latest up(down)grade?Obviously we were all told that old devices couldn’t go up to SMBv2 in the old switch to the S2 system and so my Music Library dropped to SMBv1 to match. If the new upgrade has removed SMBv1 from everything, what else do the old S1 systems support that could find shared music? Not really interested in handing my details (and money) to Plex just for this functionality.
Apparently the executives of Sonos are frat boy so they don't understand the concept of informed consent. A horrible update was forced upon me without my consent. And now the products that I spent thousands of dollars on are no longer worth a dime. When I made a comment on this forum about that situation someone hid my comment in a much larger multi-page thread without my consent. When I made that comment they also added that comment as one of my favorites without my consent so that now I have to go in and figure out a way to take it off of my favorites so that I will stop getting emails every single time someone else posts a comment on a thread that I had nothing to do with. I posted my own. My own comment was moved so that it would get it hidden and I would still receive email after email after email every time someone else makes a comment in someone else's thread that has nothing to do with me. Informed consent is important in private life and public life and professional life. Spen
Hi allI have two CR200 running inside an up-to-date S1 system, it works perfectly.I saw this topic here: It works. These devices are one of the reason, why Sonos split the devices into S1 and S2 devices.I have them running since 10 years, and I always did an update. I just recently had to reset my configuration, and it was a challenge to get them back into the system. When adding the CR200, I found, that one player must be connected with a LAN cable to the router directly. It does not work, if the LAN connected player is behind a bridge (what I normally have). After it is added, there still must be one player LAN connected, but then it can be behind a bridge. I guess this has to do with a network broadcast message, which does not go through a bridge. If anyone is interested in more details, feel free to answer here.
All is n the title. Thanks in advance.
went outside to listen to some music on a warm spring day. opened the S2 app and discovered it had been “upgraded”. and it demanded I “sign in” before allowing me to access my own property. After several minutes of trying to work around the thing I finally relented and went down to the basement to look up my Sonos credentials. which the app decided were invalid. This is not the first time I have suffered through one of Sonos’ completely unnecessary and unavoidable updates. So I gots to ask, why would anybody spend more for this intrusive crap than any one of the less expensive systems available?
All the things I used to like about the Sonos listening environment are gone. Search for an artist, play one song now or add to end of queue. Seems like all you can do is play an entire album from an artist and not select individual songs. The thing I always loved about Sonos was that I could sit on my patio and queue up 20 songs and relax. There seems to be no way to create a playlist on this new app? I see they’re probably making the app so it relies on the playlists already built in your connected music services. That’s fine but they better smooth out and advance this new app quickly. Rating: F+
Is there a EULA to cover the change in the way the New App manages and exposes our speakers to the Cloud and Internet?I have not knowingly agreed to a EULA that allows my speakers to:Be managed from the Cloud Be accessible from the InternetTo the best of my knowledge what I have agreed to is that:My speakers will communicate with the Cloud for essential maintenance tasks like registration and updates Be accessible by me on my private WiFi.This paradigm shift in the way that our speaker and data is accessed should have been clearly communicated and agreed before the New App was installed.
The S2 update is one of the worst music control systems I have ever used! Please make the last version myself and over 200 of my Sonos clients loved and enjoyed available again!!! Thanks Please stop sucking! Thanks
How do I add new songs to my playlists?
How do I fix this?
