when trying to add music folder using "In my music folder" after several minutes get message "Sonus was unable to add the music folder Reason: Unable to add the shared folder "\\Genie-PC\Music" to your Music Library (1002)."
Dear Sonos, I hope you read this: Just got a Sonos Play 5 for Christmas, I am pleased with how much sound comes out of the thing its brilliant, however, the app is a nightmare to use. I play a lot of dance tunes and have to adjust the Bass which seems like every other track. Please Please Please could you have the balance, treble and bass sitting above the volume control instead of having to go through the app as it is painful to keep finding and adjusting, it should be much easier to use. I also have other many issues with the App, could you make changing wireless networks more easier, its so confusing, I have two separate wireless networks at my home, i wanted to change it to the other network and it was a ball ache it needs to be simple. There are some other niggles i will post as I get more familiar with the product. Apart from the app the play 5 is an excellent speaker system.
Hello, does anyone know how to downgrade from controller v7.0? I am running osx 10.6 SL and the other day the controller app notified me of an update. After updating it would not connect to my music library. It also said there was another update. When trying to update again it responded by saying there are no updates! I have tried deleting the app and restoring from a time machine backup, however the first thing it then does is insist on upgrading to version 7.0 again. From looking on the Sonos website v7.0 is not compatible with osx 10.6. Anhy help would be appreciated. Thanks Dave
Hey fellow Sonos people, I recently got a new phone (Android 6.0). I installed Nova launcher on it, because I don't like the Huawei interface. Unfortunately I'm not able to get the Sonos widget working on the lockscreen. In the settings of the Sonos app, I've got the marks turned on to use the app from the lockscreen . Other apps, like spotify work fine on the lockscreen. Anyone got an idea? Grtzz. Jopio
I want to be able to listen to podcasts using Acast in my Sonos system. I am controlling the Sonos system through an Android mobile phone or through my iPad. Can you please advice how I would go about?
I love Sonos as it's a great system, but the controller is the worst interface I have ever used in any application. For what is such a simple set of requirements they have some how managed to make it so unnecessarily convoluted that's it's practically in comprehensible. Please Stop over thinking the interface. There's nothing complicated about. It should be as simple as the car radio. Call me if you can't understand how that can be, I'll explain it to you.
Hi, after the latest software upgrade (Dec 16), the snooze function on the Sonos Controller only works once. Once you have pressed snooze, music comes on 10 minutes later but does not allow you to snooze again. I use my old touch controller as an alarm clock. Can this bug be fixed?
Ripped some xmas CDs into iTunes. Worked. Updated "Music Library" on windows 10 Sonos controlled. Worked Stuck on how to now get these new CDs visible to "Music Library" on my Android Sonos controller. I'm in the "manage music library" and am not sure what to do next....
I have a Mac run-on El Capitan and I have what I think is a firewall problem using Sonos. When I load the Mac Sonos Contoller I get a box that says 'Do you want the application “Sonos.app” to accept incoming network connections?' with Deny or Allow options. Clicking on Allow attaches to my music OK. If I turn the Firewall off then this box does not appear. I have my Firewall set up correctly as per Sonos guidelines with Block all incoming connections not checked and Sonos App included to accept incoming connections. I've tried reinstalling the Sonos Controller software and deleting/readiing my Music share which is on a NAS. As far as I know I have changed nothing to cause this and it just started happening yesterday.
How can we request (beg) for access to folders while using Plex, just like we can access folders in the Sonos music library? Being able to put music in my Plex folders is such a great feature for those of us with large music collections or for listening to temporary music, etc. Unfortunately not being able to see folders makes the Plex capability a lot less capable.
That's what is happening and it is tanking my battery life. Auto-update is turned off but even with the app closed it still runs in the background at a higher CPU usage than anything else by a significant margin. Device is Blackberry Passport using Android runtime. Never had an issue before in the past 2 years. Please assist.
I've tried everything I can find here and nothing seems to be working. Diagnostic: 6887368 Just trying to get the library to connect on my new PC. Everything else seems to have migrated just fine. Uninstalled and re-installed Sonos desktop software. I've ensured that it is allowed to play nice through the firewall, I've even disabled the firewall. Nothing seems to work to get access to the music files. App running on the same PC as the library. Thanks!
can I skip all the wireless stuff and plug my iPhone directly into Sonos? My son is going to college, and cant use dorm WiFi. Can he plug his iPhone directly into Play 3? we have sonos at home and love it
The visual aspects and the options are very poors and the way it manages the library is the worst intuitive and usable ways to run...Please tell SONOS if you are agree.
For some reason, when I try to open Sonos on my iPhone, I get a screen saying I'm not connected to WiFi. In the iPhone's settings, I show I'm connected to a 5.0 mHz network, which is what I have my iOS devices set to. The Play 3 plays and Speedtest, over WiFi, gives me a 40+ megabit downstream, 12+ up. To further muddy the water, my iPad Air sees and operates Sonos in the same location that the iPhone does not see it on my WiFi network. I had to use my iPad to set up TruePlay since my iPhone couldn't see Sonos. Any thoughts?
I want to remove a couple of groups. I never use them and sometimes they are on by accident. How do i remove a group? I can't find it anywhere.
How about adding this option directly to the Sonus Menu?
Is there a teleconference app for Sonos? There are microphones in some Play speakers but not in the Play:1 which instead could use the linked iPhone or Android device microphone, with all sound coming from the Sonos speaker. Could be a whole new business model for Sonos. Is this a good idea? Let me know if you want to use my idea (invention).
I am adding a play 1 to my system and doing so under settings, add speaker, it then shows that controller needs to be update, select button for update controller, which brings me to the App Store for Sonos app (even though I am running the sonos app (ver 7) on my iPhone (10.1.1), I hit open and it appears to open my sonos app on my phone, then I try to go to settings and add speaker all over again and it goes thru the exact same process (a do loop), help?
Hi, Is there anyway to adjust the volume really low, I want to have my Play:1 on when I go to bed but I can't adjust down the volume low enough through my iPhone 6S Plus.
I see that Spotify now has the possibility to play directly from the app without the need to start the Sonos app. Are there any plans to make this possible in Tidal? If so, when? If not, guess I am switching to Spotify...
Hi, I just wanted to share this little info for others here. Our kids used to run to us parents all the time in order to choose the music or audio books for them in their room. So we figured out they needed their own Sonos controller. For obvious reasons, we didn't want to give them a full smartphone to do this. Here's what we did: - find an outdated Android phone without a SIM card - preferably one that is supported by Cyanogenmod or a similar alternative firmware - install the opengapps nano package (Cyanogenmod explains it in their wiki) to get Google Play - install the Sonos controller app via Google Play - enable immersive mode for the Sonos app in Cyanogenmod's settings - turn off the "double powerbutton tap starts camera" option in Cyanogenmod's settings - install Mobilock Kiosk Lockdown app via Google Play - in Mobilock, you can set the Sonos app to be started automatically - once running, remove any other app except Mobilock and Sonos from the app switcher We had a Nexus 4
I just finished purchasing and setting up my Sonos amps and bridge (well, my installer did it, actually) and I am trying to load the music from my ReadyNasNV+ into the Sonos desktop software. My NAS has approximately 90,000 FLAC files, all properly tagged and in redbook resolution. Sonos is very slow to load, and ultimately only a few of my folders showed up in the library. I received the following error message in the log: Wednesday, June 26, 2013 - 11:11 AM Eastern Time Not enough Sonos player memory to complete index of '//NAS-01-3A-DA/media/Music'. A partial index has been stored. After some further reading on this site I noted that there is apparently a limit of 40,000 songs. Sonos claims it can handle large music libraries, so why is the limit only 40,000? Granted, most people don't have 1.6 TB of FLAC files, but I had absolutely no problem streaming all of them using my old Squeezebox system. I am incredibly disappointed and frustrated with Sonos. Why on earth is there
When I'm not using the Sonos, i.e. it is not playing music from any source, the Sonos will start playing the sound from the computer, Mac Mini, whenever I start playing a YouTube video or start a song in iTunes. When this happens I have not done anything to start up Sonos! This seems to happen anytime there is a period of silence and then the sound starts. It is a problem as there are times that I just want the sound local to the computer and not go over Sonos.
sorry
