Controllers and Music services

On my Mac -- When I try to update the app, or update services, I get a "check your network connection." No firewall, have downloaded and re-installed app. Won't connect to Spotify or external services either. Using High Sierra 10.13.6 Beta Please help!

I recently moved to a new location in the country and currently we have no internet. My sonos system now requiring me to update the software to even use the system. I took my router, on which the controller is installed, to the office but it won't update the software without the sonos system present. So now my sonos system is useless. How can I update my software or use my sonos system without an internet connection? I have two Player 5's, two Player 3's and a sound bar. Spend a lot of money on a system that I now cannot use.

I have a play 5 and 1, I am able to connect them manually, but everytime I start to use them again the play 1 is disconnected from the 5.. and I have to connect them again manually by grouping them.. Very annoying! Is there a setting where I just can group them indefinitely without having to do that everyday?? Thanks

My Sonos account says it can’t find any speakers registered to my account. It has locked up my controller on my iPhone and iPad. I only have amps, with hard wired non Sonos speakers. I was using the system offline when this happened and I am still offline without access to a network. How do I get back to a functioning controller?

It would be great if SONOS made a sonos 2 clock radio with a digital screen showing the time and all the normal features. A smaller bedroom version of the sonos where if you wake up at 5am and wanna know the time you can just look yet also have all the great features that sonos otherwise brings. Got to be a good seller and far cheaper than buying the controller to just keep in the dock showing the time!!!

As Sonos has been around for quite some time now, why have you not developed some sort of a 'master control' function for the app? Sonos is a great idea and the functionality of "anyone with the app can add songs into the playlist" is handy, but there's always that one friend who (purposely or not) disrupts the playlist. As it seems like quite a popular talking topic, why have you not spent time adding a 'register one password controlled master device' which can change music, and every other Sonos app can only add songs into the playlist?

Greetings, I am about to add another Play:1 to my system. When trying to add the unit I am asked to sign into my account in the app. My problem is that I get an error saying that I need to sign in with the account which was used to configure my Sonos... that is exactly what I am doing. I can login online using a computer with the same login details, but not through the app. Any solutions? I am on an Iphone 7.

Why is it mandatory to create an account to continue to use Sonos? I have had these speakers for years. now with the lastest update I can't use the speakers without creating an account and registering all my speakers. this was never necessary. after spending thousands of dollars on hardware it has become unusable with a registered account and password. 😠

I just upgraded to Sonos Version 9. While the app is open, I noticed that the external hardware volume controls are not functioning properly. It appears that only every other button press is registering. So, press the button once... nothing. Press it again and the volume moves 2 increments. Press it a 3rd time... nothing. And so forth. Again, this is while the app is open. This do not relate to the lock screen issue, however, that issue is also very annoying.

For some reason, there is a unknown email associated with one of my controllers. Is it possible a house guest changed it? Anyway, I need to register it back to the original email address. I'm not sure how to do this.

Here I am, still sitting happily on v8.4, using my CR100s to play music from my NAS and Radio from the Internet - and definitely NOT missing all those “we need to update your system” nags. - BUT - Within the next month or so, I will be visited by several people who all have their own Sonos systems (bought after recommendations from me) Being younger and much more trusting (ie. nothing like my username), they all keep their iOS and Android Apps auto-updated to the “bleeding edge” Does anyone know what will happen to my v8.4 system if their v9 Apps attempt to connect? Even though my router blocks access to “update.sonos.com”, if the players are accessed from a v9 App, will they then “know” that there is a later version and kick off the “we need to update your system” process? I do not want to risk losing my CR100s - but I would have great difficulty ensuring that my nephew never forgets to leave his iPhone outside in the car. Thanks for any relevant info Paul

With the new release lock-screen control on Apple devices doesn't work any more. :?:(:( Apparently, this is an improvement. Maybe it is if you have any Airplay 2 devices. Well, i Don't that's why i bought SONOS. This was one of the better features for me on the SONOS system. Can anybody explain to me why this is changed! How can i get it working again? Can i revert back tot SONOS app 8.6? The instruction I've found so far do not help me out.:( Thanks for any help on this issue!

Hi. I have my sonos set up in a couple of rooms, but not in the office where I have the controller loaded on to my desktop. Is there a way of making the music play through my desktop speakers, as well as the sonos speakers?

Mostly I am satisfied with my Sonos One, but even with adjusting the bass all the way down and the treble all the way up, it sounds kind of boxy and mushy in the middle. I would disagree that and enhanced equalizer is not a worth while feature. If I could play straight from iTunes, I could get around this issue. Do the bigger Sonos units provide more range?

Hi, I am currently using a Kindle Fire HD 3rd generation to control my Sonos system. I find it very slow, has anyone any ideas for a cost effective tablet that will be used primarily as a Sonos controller. that will be quicker than the tablet I am using at the moment. Regards RoyP

Since upgrading to the newest version 8 of the sonos controller app, I see severe battery usage in standby on my iPhone 5s. The stats on iOS 11.0.2 tell me that within the last 3 days the app was running just 6 minutes in foreground and 13 hrs background, still it managed to account for 70% of my battery consumption. I did not have this issue with previous versions of the app. Am I the only one who is seeing this?

The idea about the mini controller is great, but it is still pretty bulky? Any chance to find an even smaller player without the album/station graphics taking up so much space? Quick access to Sonos while working is essential, but taking way to much screen space currently.

I have 9 Sonos devices now, and my system is still growing... There are areas in my house that I would like to semi-permanently group together, and label that subgroup of devices (master bedroom, master bathroom, and master closet could become one subgroup). I predict I would never want to address these areas separately, yet in the current software, I must. I understand I could make a stereo group with both Play:1 speakers, but I reject that partial solution due to wanting mono in each room; I don't want left in one room and right in a different room. Another feature that would be nice, using my above example, I'm using a Connect:Amp to power a pair of ceiling speakers in the master bedroom, while using a Play:1 in the master bathroom, and a Play:1 in the master closet. I always have to set the volume of the master bedroom slightly higher (let's say 10% more) to match the levels when I'm moving from room to room. Hi all, I have attempted to play music from my iPod nano via the headphone wire into the back of a Play 5. The iPod is working, but does not play through the speaker. Any advice?

Since updating Sonos apps and iPhones and iPad and the speaker has become erratic and constantly dropping out or showing device list but unable to control it.

I was at a vacation rental with a sonos play:3 last week, and was unable to add my own music service. I figured the owner did that on purpose to save her from having to re-set it all the time - smart! Now we're looking at putting 4 players in our new vacation rental, but I can't figure out how to enable guest limits like that. On my current home system, it appears that anyone with the app can add music services, change My Sonos playlists, etc. How do I let friends and guests play music without screwing up my system? thanks!

I picked up a Sonos One today after learning of the Airplay 2 support. Everything is working great with older speakers. I'm trying to use Siri on my phone to launch music. It is setup in the Kitchen. However, after adding the new Sonos One to Homekit, and requesting music in the "kitchen" or "everywhere", Siri responds "Sorry, I couldn't play that in the kitchen" I am running iOS 12 beta 3.

I have new Samsung Note 8, and I have installed the Sonos App on it to control things. The app on the phone occasionally boots up and lets me search, however whenever I try and add the content I can't select anything. I can change the search criteria, but I can't select anything that it finds. All of the apps on other devices work fine, as well as the computer applications, it is just on my Note 8. I have uninstalled, reinstalled the app, rebooted the phone, and killed the app and relaunched it, all with no change. The only way I have found to get it to work is to open the app, then let it sit for about 5-10 minutes. Any suggestions?

The Mac version of the controller is great but doesn't really try to integrate with the Mac OS UI. If I have several windows open on my laptop screen, I find it very annoying that I cannot control something as basic as the volume of a Sonos zone from the Mac menu bar. There are several other ideas I could think of to make the Sonos controller more usable for Mac users (a dashboard widget, a quicksilver plugin etc, custom keyboard shortcuts), but just a simple volume control would be a major breakthrough and probably not very difficult to implement as most controller functionality is directly accessible from the dock's contextual menu.
