Talk about Sonos S1 and S2 Controller apps for mobile, and the desktop app. This is also the place to talk about partner apps, Airplay, and direct control.

So I live on a military base and I use base wifi and I have trouble updating my play 1. I can't just go connect to a router and update that way I only have wireless with no router of any sort to access. How would I go about updating my play 1
Just struggled through a problem with the Sonos App for ios and android. It was intermittently freezing up for the customer. Usually you could cause the error by pressing the phones home key to put Sonos in the background. When it was accessed again it would be completely frozen. Tried a new iPhone with a basic install, and my own android phone from my home system. Turned out to be a Airport Time capsule with WiFi problems. Difficult to know what was wrong with the wifi and it was misleading because it usually would not freeze unless you pressed the home button or the unit went to the lock screen. Rebooting the router would allow it to work for about 20 mins then the problem would re-occur. Narrowed it down by bringing my own cell phone with the Sonos App and connected to their network and even my phone which I knew worked fine on my home system would freeze. Talked to Sonos about it and although a complete lack of Wifi will cause the app to display the Turn on Wifi message, a probl
is there going to be option to play music direct from android devices rather than have an external source?
Is it possible to add songs to Apple Music playlists from the Sonos controller?
Does anyone know if there is a way to use a tablet or phone as a Sonos controller only. i like the idea of using my old IPad just to control the Sonos without the faff of having to load up the app etc ? I know you can lock it into Sonos mode but this just goes back to the standard I pad menu once you unlock to shutdown .
I had a professional service install my Sonos system since they had to run power cables inside a wall. I am trying to "balance" the Play 1's for surround/Eq. I open the app, go to "more, settings, room settings. Nothing happens.Nothing happens when I select Add a speaker or sub. Is it possible for these settings to be locked out? Thanks.
Does it really need to suck this bad ?!?!?!?!?!?!? I'm a Sonos dealer. I love Sonos. BUT : 1. Shuffle in any playlist (larger than 20-30 tracks) is terrible !! Sonos 'repeats' tracks WAAAAYYYY too soon (should be not at all, regardless of playlist size !) !!! 2. Sonos gets to tell me, that my music library is too big !?!?!?!?????? (On-screen message : "Sonos does not have enough space to update your music library. Please eliminate unused ques and playlists". Blah, blah, blah). I don't think so !! Unacceptable !! It's the 21st century, and this is easy code to fix. I can maybe see this needing to be this way, on hand-held devices, but on the 'desk-top' controller, no way. I am trying to use a CR100 that I've not used for a long time. When I try to connect it to my system, it recognises when I press the two buttons on the nearest player, I goes the the Connecting. Please wait. This can take a few minutes Then This controller was unable to connect to a Sonos component. Please try again (1). I'm wondering if it's an issue with the software being out of date. My other CR100 which has been in use all along works fine. This one's been in the attic for a while. Grateful for any ideas! Thanks Patrick
I've used Sonos for several years now and have Pandora as my primary source of music throughout the system. If I'm on a Pandora station, lets say "Donald Fagen", like all of the Pandora stations, it scrambles his songs and others in that same genre. I can use the thumbs up-thumbs down to somewhat control what I want to here. Can I save specific songs that I hear to a playlist or queue somehow?
Is there any way to switch back to listening to the tv after listening to music without your phone? If someone asks Alexa to play music, then wants to watch tv, you have to go find your phone to switch it back to TV. Doesn’t seem smart.
I went into the app yesterday and made some changes to the sub and eq settings. I gave it a little too much bass, so I went in today to change the settings again, and the "Room Settings" menu has totally disappeared. I tried on my ipad, iphone and windows app, and it's the same across the board. Any idea what happened?
Hi I have followed all the support instructions to load my library, unplugged speakers, checked filename etc. but nothing is resolving the error. Diagnostic ref 971952208. Any suggestions please?
I want to broadcast to all zones that tea is ready.
Could Sonos let us know where they are on allowing some form of playlist editing? Following the merger between Napster & Rhapsody (or vice versa) I have playlists filled with "track unavailable" debris items (eg 365 tracks on a 2500+ playlist). Because there is no way of sorting them (eg on a PC Controller), even when I note that a track is not available, there is no way for me to sort the playlist eg alphabetically or search the list to nail and boot out the offending item (or even better, allowing me real time to see something similar that is available and do a swap). The lack of any editing playlist capability is, in my view, the Sonos systems weakest (and perhaps only) failing. I note previous comments on backup files: I was not aware of this "new" weakness and it would be a disaster if I lost my playlists (even the ones with Napster debris). Come on Sonos: it cant be that hard to have some playlist editing and playlist backup?
I am trying to minimize the amount of electronic equipment that is consuming power 24/7 and our three Sonos speakers (1-5, 2-3s) are candidates. The only problem is that when I use my home automation system to turn off the outlets that the speakers are plugged into, in the morning I have to regroup them and that process is not without its weaknesses and is inconvenient. I would like to have the option of keeping the speakers regrouped automatically when they are repowered.
I cannot find a way to completely remove a song that I don't want to hear again.
The latest Sonos update now rejects controller below iOS 10. Apparently it is not possible anymore to just command a Sonos system with an iPod5 that is up to date with iOS 9.3.5 and can't go above. You have to buy a new iPoD. I use the iPoD 5 just to start / stop playing music in different rooms and setup the wake-up. The music is either on a MAC or from TuneIn radios. I do not intend to use any voice command function. Why would it be possible for Sonos to still leave a "basic" version of the controller that could run on iPods 5 below iOS10 to just perform the basic functions? Not everybody wants the new features, but just don't want to have to throw away existing and perfectly working iPods 5 only used to control the home Sonos system. This is a waste of perfectly working products. Could Sonos reconsider its position and offer a "basic" controller app for iPods that have to stay with iOS 9.x.x ? Thanks, this would save the planet from additional waste that still could perform
The volume is always louder for television commercials and it's annoying when I'm watching something with infrequent bass and then there is a commercial with a lot of perpetual bass. Can Sonos create a feature to automatically detect commercials and temporarily lower/mute the volume? I live in a condo and my neighbors know when my sub is on. When I'm watching a quite movie, stand up comedy or sports I like to keep my sub on and get intricate rounded lows — this generally doesn't bother my neighbors. Enter intense commercial with music in the backgound — this definitely bothers my neighbors. This feature can fit neatly under the TV Setup tab 🙂
Sonosnet will simply not show up on my android device, I have switched it on, tried every channel - I presently have a boost connected to my router and then five products running on this boost set up. Can someone give me some advice on why I cannot see the Sonosnet please as I have very thick walls and the interference is a real pain. Thanks in advance Nick :?:?:?
I'm thinking of putting Sonos in a lake house we own but rent via VRBO. Is there a way for a guest user to use the speakers? We'd like to tell our renters they can use it, but not sure how they would.
I have assigned new IP numbers to all of my Sonos devices so that they line up prettily in my DHCP server's list. I know that was totally unnecessary but I was bored. So now my system is glitching even after all the DHCP assigned addresses have renewed. I know what is needed, rebooting my tablets running the Controller and all my Sonos devices but that is a real pain due to some of the Sonos devices locations. What I'd like to see is a "Reboot All Devices" option on the advanced settings menu so I don't have to crawl / climb around the house pulling power plugs.
Hi, could you please update your app/controller and whatever is neccessary to allowing SORTING? Is it that hard to do? The requests for this are scattered all over the Internet, sorting of whatever there is to sort, be it playlist, radio, library, and what not! I am adding new music to my library using Genre, when selecting the GENRE, I have to deal with sorting of A through Z. It is completely USELESS to not be able to sort by THE DATE A FRICKIN' ADDED THE FILES TO MY LIBRARY! or even just DATE. I can play what got ripped 10 years ago and started with an A and is ON TOP! With this useless solution as the app controller seems to be I might as well ditch SONOS and just hook up the Intel NUC to some BOSE speakers and deal with a free application than can actually manage SORTING and has been doing so for countless years! IT'S FREAKING ANNOYING!!
Does anyone know how to access a recently played list on the mobile app or desktop app? I cant imagine this feature doesn't exist but I can't seem to locate it. If it doesn't exist, and I'd be shocked, then how do we contact Sonos and tell them to make this happen?
I thought I read that there was a web-app that I could use to control a Sonos device. I open my web-browser and click on a shortcut and I can then control my device. Is there a way to do this?
How are group names determined? is is alphabetical? If I have 3 rooms called "Living Room", "Shelf" & "Kitchen" and group them, the group is always called "Kitchen + 2". I'd prefer it to be called "Living Room + 2" because the group has a total of 4 speakers, three of which are in the living room. This matters because the rest of my family use the spotify app (or Alexa/Airplay) with our speakers so the group name is the only bit of the Sonos system that they see. It would be very useful, to have more control over the names and groups visible to Spotify/Alexa/Airplay.
