Amazon Alexa and Sonos

Alexa answers and says the command given but then nothing happens  Ie ill say Alexa play Xmas songs  it replies saying the xmas station by Amazon music but then nothing plays ???  

Noticing that an Echo device was unable to play a station on Sonos Play:1 Ive found multiple issues -The Android Sonos app isnt showing favourites (tried usual remedies like clearing app data) - but the Windows Sonos app still shows them OKTried unlinking the Alexa Sonos skill but I cant now reconnect the skill - at first the linking page gave a message about needing to register the Sonos to an account (which it already was) and now just says it can’t connect to SonosAbsolute Radio stations aren’t playing - tried adding the Rayo service instead on mobile but wouldn’t link - although could link using the Windows Sonos app - but actual stations still wont playI’ve already wasted over an hour trying to resolve all this - as with any time there are problems there are no useful diagnostics or announcements.

I have changed my router, reset my Sonos products, deleted then readded to Amazon then when I ask Alexa to play anything it announces what it plays but there is no audio

When asked to turn on the 'reading light' (a smart bulb) Alexa from the Sonos Beam responds with "what setting?" If given a setting the Sonos Beam then changes it's volume to that setting.If this command is given to any other Alexa device the light works normally. This also used to work fine.I've tried a factory reset and reconnected Alexa several times to no avail.

I have just used my new Sonos ERA 100’s to listen to a previous BBC Radio broadcast of Sounds of the Sixties.  The next time I asked Alexa to open BBC Sounds and play Sounds of the Sixties, it gets stuck in a loop of about 30 seconds whereupon it stops and repeats the same 30 seconds.  It doesn’t matter if I ask BBC Sounds to play a different episode, every time I get the same 30 second loop.  If I ask BBC Sounds to fast forward any amount, she replies that “I can’t do that”.  I have tried re-booting the ERA 100’s and also tried un-installing the Alexa App and re-loading it.  I can get BBC Sounds to play Radio 1 Anthems, but if I ask for Sounds of the Sixties, I just get the same 30 second loop.

Like many others on this forum, my Sonos system has suddenly stopped responding to Alexa requests.The Alex voice control doesn't appear in my sonos voice services and I am unable to add it as the alexa skill attempts to find devices before it allows the enable / setup to finish. As it never finds the sonos devices, the skill never re-enables, it just gets stuck in the "try again" cycle.   If I use the Alexa app, it lists the various sonos devices but when I click on each one it says the device is offline.All sonos devices and alexa devices are registered to my email account.  I'm in Spain, so the "remove the amazon shopping app" workaround isn't an option.Any suggestions would be welcome.… 

This is an odd one.  I just installed a mesh system.  All connectivity is fine with Sonos and other devices.  All speakers work via Sonos app, which I never use as I use Alexa.Alexa is acting odd.  With the speakers that have Alexa integration, I can ask a question like what is the temperature and I get an answer, so connectivity is fine.  If I say play radio station x or band y, she says she will play it, but she does not.  I can play these sources via the app to the very same speaker. I have two older Sonos speakers which are connected to Amazon dots.  On one of them, Alexa will start and stop music when requested.  On the other, she will start music, but not stop it, when requested.I cannot think of anything else to try and resolve this as I can’t see an obvious root cause.

We have two devices in adjacent rooms…… and Need to change the wake-up Word on one of them. Found several older threads stating that this wasn‘t possible.Is this still the case today? 

Hi everyone,I recently bought 3 Sonos speakers, I'm slowly building up a sound system throughout my house, and it's turning out great.I also have an Alexa speaker, an Echo Dot, which also sounds good, and I would like to, if possible, have music playing through all the speakers, both the Sonos and the Alexa one. I followed the instructions for everything, but when I want to create a room for a group of speakers, the Alexa app only sees the Echo Dot and the Sonos ones say they are always offline. However, if I ask the Sonos to play music with Alexa, it plays without a problem but only on the Sonos speaker.Has anyone managed to have music playing simultaneously through both Alexa and Sonos?The Sonos devices I have are 2 ERA 300 and 1 ERA 100.Thanks for your help!Regards

I have Alexa Echo and Connect:AMP ceiling speakers  in the same room, which can play music to the ceiling speaker,  but it stopped working,  I have tried todisable the Sonos Skill remove the speakers from the alexa app  uninstall amazon shopping app re-enable the sonos skill add the speakers backon alexa devices page the speakers shows and with “online” (no green dot) under it, but once clicked on the device, i got “Device offline , Some settings may not be available”when i play music on Echo, select play on devices,  the speakers are grayed out Tried the above steps several times, just can't get it working again .  Any advice would be highly appreciated! 

Have they fixed the having to turn HD on and off with the Alexa skill now? As I know before there was an issue which rectified itself by turning HD off now it says it is playing in HD but the audio doesn’t seem like this is the case.. does anyone have an idea on this as I know the Sonos app version doesn’t need an account so they don’t offer the HD as far as I am aware. Or is the only way to achieve HD is to airplay the station to the Sonos itself?

I am a terribly confused new owner of 3 Roam 2 & 2 Move 2.   i am slowly learning.I would like to be able to play music while away on trips. I have Apple and Amazon music.  While I’m home, Alexa will play on my Sonos and even if I leave for a short bit and come back it still plays for a bit.  How do I get her to play while away via Alexa App?  And does she only play for a period of time?   😩

I can't get my Sonos 1 or my two Era 100 to work with Alexa.  When I get to the screen where it says, "please log into your Alexa app.". I never get there.  Always fails.

Hello! I have my Sonos move 2 connected to the Amazon Alexa app. Whenever I check the device page on Alexa it shows it’s connected on the love 2 speaker however when I click on that speaker in the app it says it’s offline in red. Anyone have this issue?

Hello everyone, I bought the Sonos Era 300, I follow all the instructions regarding the connection with Alexa but I cannot use it. I have a message that the Device is offline. Some settings may not be available.I tested everything with no results. Multiple reconfigurations, re-enables of skills, changing location (the current is Greece) .Do you have any suggestions?

After upgrading my Sonos system ran into issue of Alexa not working properly.  After consulting the numerous Sonos User Forum posts, trying things suggested, and thinking about my issues finally figured out how to fix it.  Thought I would share what I went thru to get it – recognizing that while something fixed it – it is quite possible not everything I did was necessary.The upgrade:  Had a Beam Gen 2, Sub-mini and two Sonos Ones.  Replaced Beam (sent it to my son) with an Ultra, kept using the sub mini. Replaced the Ones with two Era 300’s as surrounds.  All in the Living Room Group. Moved the Ones to Bedrooms, but now not in the Living Room group.  The Ultra in the Living Room controls a Roku TV.Prior to the upgrade, Alexa worked OK, not great.  Occasionally it wouldn’t be able to find radio stations I wanted to stream and same for TV station I wanted to watch.After the upgrade Alexa got worse.  Sometimes Alexa would chime in response and then do nothing.  The more I played with disa

I had my Beam Gen 2 working as a speaker in the Alexa app for months and it stopped responding.So far I have tried the following:Reset my BeamDeleted the Sonos skill and re-enabled in the Alexa appReset my wifiChecked the Beam has the latest softwareChecked the Beam has the correct time zoneDeleted all other Beams from the Alexa app. I must have tried so many variations and tried to discover the Beam around 50 times over the last few days!Note I do not want the Alexa voice assistant on my Beam, I want to use my Beam as a speaker in the Alexa app. However as a test, I did add the Alexa voice assistant to the Beam and it works and will tell me the time but when asked to play music it states I need to add the Sonos skill in the alexa app and discover devices which then does not discover my Beam.Anyone else managed to add or re-add a Beam as a speaker in the Alexa app  when it stopped working?

era100 wont play bbc sounds usiing alexa. It was working ok until a couple of days ago, but then stopped.I have unlinked BBC sounds, removed bbc sounds app, switched the sonos off for a few minutes, then  re-linked the app. When i asked it to play BBC radio 2, it worked the first time, then stopped after a minute or so. subsequent attempts to play radio 2 result in the sonos saying its playing bbc 2 but then goes silent. Can you please give me a fix for this, without this facility, the sonos will be going back prontro.

I am able to connect my Play 1 to my home wi-fi using the Sonos app. I begin with using the S1 app and it leads me to using S2. When I attempt to find the device (Play 1) using the Alexa app, my unit cannot be found. I’ve ensured that I’m on the same network and have tried multiple times. The Alexa app asks during the process if I can control my device using the app and I always answer yes and continue. Please help. 

I’ve removed every speaker and added back. Wiped cache and data from my phone, uninstalled and reinstalled both apps. Removed all sonos devices from my Amazon account on my desktop. What am I missing. When I try to add a voice assistant in the sonos app, after adding the skill back into alexa, the dial just spins. It will not link to my amazon account.What have I not thought of?

Hello, I am trying to add my Sonos Move 2 to the Echo Spot I just bought. I added the Sonos skill to the Alexa app and linked the accounts, I can control my Sonos Move 2 via the app and both systems are connected to the same Wi-Fi. The systems are also in the same room. However Alexa cannot find the speaker. I have tried multiple times but it simply cannot add the device for some reason. Can anybody help here? I am not sure what I am doing wrong. Is there anything I need to do on the device or the app?

Hello All, Just a quick question here. I just set up my new ERA 300s as rears for my ARC and sub. I currently have Alexa enabled on my ARC. if I enable Alexa on my Eras as well will that negate the functionality on the ARC or will Alexas response be played through both the arc and the eras. thanks in advance for the help 

I ask Alexa on the Move to: “Set volume to level 4” - and when I test it, indeed it is OK.  But the next time I “Alexa” the volume is again way too load like before.  How can I get the Move to hold the volume to which it is set by Alexa??  Thank you.  Peter

I’m trying to add Alexa as a voice assistant to my ERA 100 but when it tries to sign me into Amazon it just buffers.  I’ve tried various suggestions like disabling the SONOs skill in the Alexa app, uninstalling the Amazon shopping app but nothing is working.
