Hi All

Driven mad by functionality over the last 6 months in the UK. I’ve just landed in Spain and been reunited with my Roam speaker which easily plays BBC Sounds via Alexa. The alarms don’t work but I can workaround that. I’m guessing that there is a licensing issue in the UK that prevents me doing what I currently can here?

Hello @Simon Flynn, welcome to the Sonos Community!

I am a bit confused from the context of your thread. You were unable to listen to BBC Sounds via the Sonos App and Amazon Alexa while in the UK but it’s working now that you are in Spain?

The only setting/configuration that would affect this would be the address you’ve set in your Sonos Account.

What I understand to be the expected behavior would be the other way around and everything I type below, would explain that.

I’m guessing that there is a licensing issue in the UK that prevents me doing what I currently can here?

Please have a look at the BBC Article Help fixing problems with BBC Sounds on your Sonos device and more specifically:

Are you outside the UK?

Currently, BBC Sounds in the Sonos controller app is only available to listeners in the UK.

Reading the following BBC Article, Can I use BBC Sounds when I travel outside the UK?, you are still able to use the BBC Sounds App to listen outside the UK albeit with some limitations.

Connect your controller (smartphone/tablet) with Bluetooth to your Sonos Roam and you should be able to listen to everything that is available through the BBC Sounds App as a workaround.

From a quick web search I found that there is a BBC Sounds Skill for Amazon Alexa as well. Maybe try to remove and re-add this skill to update the connection via the Amazon Alexa App?

I hope this helps.

Thanks for reply. It will be a wee while till I can test that modus operandi  (for the umpteenth time)…..
