Amazon Alexa and Sonos

We use Amazon Music as our chosen streaming service on a variety of Sonos speakers. We use both because we love the sound of high quality music and HD/UHD/Dolby Atmos played through Sonos speakers is fantastic.Unfortunately, when music is requested through Alexa or the Amazon Music, it is only ever played in SD format, which is no comparison when played on a Dolby Atmos compatible Sonos speaker. Seems a bit strange Sonos can integrate Alexa but doesn't make the most of high quality audio.I know we could ask Sonos Voice Control instead but that regularly doesn't find the song we want as easily as Alexa does.Is there any indication if Sonos and Amazon Music are working together to fix this so we get the best quality audio streamed via Alexa?

Hi there!Treated ourselves to a new Sonos Era 100 for Xmas and have been experiencing a frustrating issue with Alexa Voice Assistant as follows:Issue the wake up call ‘Alexa...’ and intermittently she will function as expected Every now and then she wakes up, performs the task all OK However randomly she will not let me respond and instead returns to the resting state I can’t replicate this behaviour using the Sonos Voice Control only with the Alexa Voice Assistant, so can only assume this issue is specific to Alexa & Sonos and is not a hardware issue..Also to confirm I have Amazon Echo products in the house working 100% fine with Alexa.I have a video recording of the issue here:Any ideas please?

I have two new Era100s and am having the same problem on both. I have never had this issue on my Sonos Ones. Alexa is enabled on the speakers. When you say the command word, the Alexa chime plays so that should mean it's listening, but we only get a response around 25% of the time. This happens when the room is totally silent as well as when there is background noise. I have noticed the music already playing doesn't quieten when Alexa is listening, as it does with the Sonos Ones, so I wonder if the voice assistant can't pick up what we are saying. Tried all the deregister/disable skill/reset fixes I can find, and moved speakers to different positions, and there's been no change. Any ideas anyone?

Sonos One set up in “Bedroom” with a Sonos One SL stereo pairWith built in Alexa and Sonos voice assistants:When I say Alexa play BBC Radio 2 , she says “playing BBC Radio 2”, and then…silence.When I ask Hey Sonos play BBC Radio 2, it says “Okay, playing BBC Radio 2..  then silence.It does the same with any radio, the BBC App, Rayo, Tunein etc. I tried resetting my Sonos One to factory settings, re-added it, and still exactly the same thing happens. I connected it with ethernet cable. Same thing. Sonos Arc set up in “Living Room” with Sonos Sub and two rear Sonos SL’s. The Arc is ethernet wired and connected to TV with HDMI.With Alexa:Will start playing a radio station when asked, but when you ask it to stop, it ignores you. If I ask Alexa to play Radio on Bedroom on the Alexa phone app, it works ok.  This has all started happening in the last two weeks. I have rebooted everything, removed and re-added Alexa, Factory reset the Sonos One 3 times. I don’t know what else to do.

I've got Alexa on my Sonos speakers. All of a sudden, Alexa will listen (speaker volume lowers), the light will flash, but there's no action on simple things such as "volume down" and "stop". Everything used to work fine for a year, but now nothing.I've tried all the usual, remove Alexa, re-add, re-install skills, reboot speakers... Again, this happened all of a sudden, without me changing anything.

I’ve had a Beam (Gen 1) installed for a few years, using my Amazon/Alexa account to control devices in my living room. It’s worked flawlessly, until a few weeks ago.Alexa itself works fine - I can ask questions, interact with the service etc, but I cannot control any of my smart devices. After puzzling on this for a few days, I stumbled on the issue: the Sonos device is using the wrong Amazon account, one belonging to my daughter. The smart devices shouldn’t exist in her profile, but I don’t get any “errors” - just the little chime after issuing a command that suggests it’s worked as normal. I have other Amazon Echo devices in my home, and they’re working fine: for example, asking my Echo:switch on plug 1.. switches on plug 1. Trying the same with the Sonos gives the chime, but plug 1 doesn’t do anything (given that the other account doesn’t know about “plug 1”, I’m surprised it doesn’t say something along the lines of “I don’t know about device plug 1”) if I ask the Echowhat profile a

Need to repeat Alexa several times on ERA 100 to activate it. When using Alexa about 50% of the time after saying Alexa the light goes out and it stops listening, I have to say Alexa a couple of times before it actually works ... See the video

On the iOS app, if I try to add Alexa as a service, it redirects me to amazon to sign on, but then after I enter my name/password and click the “sign-in” button, it sends me to an error page: 414 Request-URI Too Large The URL is indeed incredibly long, mainly due to the `metadata1` query field Edit: I got it to work, by copying the URL, removing the `metadata1` field, then opening the URL in the browser

Hello,Anyone had an issue where you ask Alexa to play music on your Sonos Speaker (default is Spotify) she replies ‘sorry, Im having difficulty playing the music’Alexa can play the music on her own speaker from Spotify, just not able to play out of Sonos…Thanks  

Spent hours trying to play Spotify using voice control through my Roam.  Linked the skill in the Alexa app but when you ask to play Spotify Alexa cannot find it, and asks to be asked to locate the skill which she then cannot find. 

Hi,I want to be able to tell Alexa (through the App or Voice) to play music on my Play:1 speakers and Playbar.Alexa has found my Sonos One speakers and allows me to play music on them, but Alexa does not let me play music through my Sonos Play:1 and Playbar Speakers, as well as through my Sonos Groups/Rooms.Spotify IS able to find my Sonos Groups and Speakers, and does allow me to Play through any of those speakers using the Spotify App.I'm not sure why Alexa will not give me the option to use the Sonos Skill to play music through my Play:1 and Playbar speakers.Any help would be appreciated. Thanks 

Alexa isn’t fully working on my era 100. I can’t control Spotify using it. Ive checked the Alexa app and my era 100 is on there but doesn’t seem to be linked as a speaker. When I ask Alexa to change songs , on my era, it tells me that it can’t support the stream and to add my era 100 device. Very strange. 

Hi,I have a strange issue with my Sonos Beam and Alexa. Alexa is linked correctly in my Beam and responds to all my commands except for the ones to control smart devices.Things that are working fine with my Beam when I ask Alexa:Play music in spotify Weather forecast Open Skills Execute my Routines Play radioThe only thing that is NOT working is the control of smart devices such as switches or lights. If I ask Alexa to turn on my bedroom, it answers “I cannot find any device or group called bedroom”. But the same command on other Amazon echo devices that i have at home work fine. And this happens with any device… It’s really strange because the routines execute just fine, even the routines that turn on some lights…This initially worked fine for about 1 year, but then stopped working in the last couple of months. I have an Arc for my living room tv and a beam for my bedroom tv.  I have the Amazon Alexa voice turned on for the beam to give commands.  However, when I am watching tv in the living room the sound from the arc pauses for a few seconds any time someone is asking the beam anything.  I do not see any settings in the Sonos app regarding the Arc for this to occur.  This will happen even if the bedroom door is closed and out of audio range of the arc.  Seems like they are connected in some way but cannot figure out why or how.  Any suggestions?

I have the Alexa skill and Sonos Voice Control enabled on my Era 100. I can set the Alexa volume level from 1-10 and the Sonos from 1-100%; so maybe I am ahead of the game.Whenever I ask Alexa what the volume level is, it is currently saying “Device Volume Level is 2”. It has said the level is at 5,1 and other numbers before. It has no affect on the audio levels from the Era, but it makes no sense and I cannot find any other people reporting the issue.

Hi alli bought a five today (first Sonos product). I register it fine and everything is working beautifully…..apart from setting up ALEXA. when I try and register the device in the Alexa app or enable the skill it just sends me in a loop that ends in the error message: Register your speakersYou need to link speakers to your xxxxx@hotmail.com Sonos account before you can add this skill. everything is registered and up to date. I’ve tried restarting and registering but it just loops the same. Anyone got any ideas? 

I am Trying to set Up my Alexa on my sonos one. o i went through the steps and as soon a i try adding the sono skill and need to log in into my sonos account i get the message that i need to update my app which is up to date and then also that i need to register a speaker onto my account which is working fine through sonos app. When i log into my online account and check under my system Menu i get a mesage showing no devices registered. How do I get it to add then. Also tried adding Google assistant and exactly the same problem. 

Hello, I am running with some issues with my sonos beam gen 2 with Alexa and Amazon music. When I Ask Alexa to play music, it réponds but it kever plays music (Alexa voice command is working fine on my ERA 100).On amazon music when I try to cast to the sonos beam it connects and then the apps says it disconnectedI try different things but nothing has solved issue : factory reset, enable/disable the sonos skills, try to remove and add Alexa from the sonos beam.

I feel stupid having to yell “Alexa” to ask her to stop the music when the volume is low. The Sonos One’s microphone is fine when the volume is not low, but really bad when low.

Does anyone have issues with using Alexa skills through Sonos speakers? I have a few linked to my account (Neato for my vacuum & Delta for my kitchen tap as examples). If I ask an Alexa enabled Sonos to vacuum, it will tell me it's unable to find a device or group named Neato. But if I ask the same from an Amazon Echo it works as it should. Same thing for the Delta skill. It's been like this for as long as I can remember. Alexa does work on the Sonos speaker as I can ask it to pause, play music etc. 

I was able to link Spotify and Voice Assistant Alexa through the Alexa App. However, I can’t play Spotify through “Alexa, play __ in Spotify”. It will respond, “Ok Playing...”, but then there’ll be nothing playing. I found a Sonos support page to try to disable Sonos Skill in Alexa and then re-enable it again. I tried that, but after click on Enable, I get this error from Sonos API page: Register your speakersYou need to link speakers to your _____ Sonos account before you can add this skill. But I have already linked my speakers to my Sonos account and I can see it on the Sonos app.  Sonos Era 100

I have 5 speakers.  2 plays, 2 ones, and a roam that I just purchased.  We moved and I changed the name of my speakers.  Now I have the old speaker names listed as devices on Alexa and there is no ability to delete under settings.  These names do not appear on Sonos system or Alexa.amazon.com devices.  But in the Alexa app the 4 duplicate speakers , the serial numbers are different/incorrect for these devices.  I’ve disabled the Sonos skill, logged out and deleted/reinstalled the Alexa app.They are still there!additionally all of my speakers have duplicates with the current name in the Alexa app — one with a speaker icon and one with a WiFi/spotify icon,Thanks for your help.

Sometimes when I ask my Echo Dot Alexa located in the Kitchen to play a station on the Kitchen Sonos 5, she answers, "Station playing in Kitchen" on my Sonos Move in another room on the other side of the house. The station does play on the Sonos 5 in the Kitchen. The same thing will happen if I ask her about the weather or time. This is annoying because we can't hear her response.I tried logging out of both Sonos and Alexa, resetting my router, updating Sonos, cycling power and even changing my Amazon password. I also have a Sonos 3 in the Bedroom and a Connect:Amp in the Living Room. I've installed Sonos Voice Control on my Sonos Move. My setup worked fine for about a year and just started this problem about 2 months ago.

Hi,At 7.35am every morning, my Sonos One announces the time, via Alexa. After several months, this is really starting to irritate me! Please tell me how I can switch this off? I have looked about the Alexa app, but have not go anywhere with it. Many Thanks.

Does SONOS still sell speakers with Alexa built in? Current product list does not indicate this. I believe the SONOS One did this but apparently no longer offered. If so, can a SONOS speaker with Alexa voice control built in play YouTube music service?
