Amazon Alexa and Sonos

Hello!  It used to be super easy with Sonos 1 app and Alexa to hook my Amazon Echo's to Sonos, but with S2, it's unclear.  There are at least three different ways online, none of which work.  Anyone have an idea of how to control Sonos via an Echo Show (not an Alexa-enabled Sonos speaker)?  Thanks!

I am using the S1 app for my Sonos speakers.  Recently my voice enabled Sonos speakers are not working with Alexa.  I can control my speakers in the S1 app but not with Alexa.When I look at the Alexa app the voice enabled Sonos speakers are showing offline.I have disabled and re-enabled Sonos Skill in Alexa Alexa does not find any devices when I re-enabled Sonos skill in the Alexa app I have removed and added Alexa voice enable to each speaker I have powered off and on the speakersDid something change?

Over the past couple or months or so, I have been experiencing a response along the lines “Sorry, something went wrong” from an ERA-100 device in bedroom, with the first command. The second command works fine. I have 2 Era 100 paired as stereo. When I play a single song on my Alexa app on my Sonos, it keeps on playing after the single song, how can I stop it from doing that. I already set my Alexa setting’s “AutoPlay” and “Amazon Music’s” autoplay to both disabled and still doing it on Sonos. Very frustrating.

I have 2 Sonos Era 100 paired as stereo.  The sleep timer on Alexa is not working on Era 100. I have a an Alexa routine that play music for 10 minutes in the morning on my Sonos but the timer is not working, it keeps on playing continuously until I click on “End Session” on the Sonos app. Very frustrating. I’m contemplating is will just return them and stick with my Amazon Echo’s.

I often play vinyl through my multiple Sonos speakers, using my Connect.Is there an Alexa command to tell Sonos to play the input from a Sonos device? I'm finding it increasingly tiresome that you have to get the app out for so much with Sonos! Very boring. I would love a dedicated instantly-on remote on the wall for volume, next, playlists, input etc.   

I have a Sonos one with Alexa and Google. I am not getting a voice from Alexa….I have switched to try Goole and this works ok…..Have turned the Sonos one off for about 5mins , turned it back on ...and no response to my voice.I have tried reconnectig it to no avail….the light on top off the speaker flashes when I speak a command ….then nothing Anyone any Ideas…??

Allnof a sudden i can’t control music via Alexa voice commands.  It’s been working fine for years across my 8 sonos One Gen2’s.   now i say “play The Beatles” and it just tells me i need to install the skill for my Sonos One. If i say “play beatles on Spotify” or “play music on Pandora” - same thing.   Of course i uninstalled and re-installed all the skills (Sonos, Spotify, Amazon Music, Pandora” - made no difference.  all other Alexa commands still work fine (weather, home device control, etc). And i can play music thru the Sonos speakers using the Pandora, Spotify or Sonos apps no problem.  Only voice control via Alexa has died.  Sonos Voice Control works fine by the way.  It’s just Alexa.  anyone else?

Hi guys, I am sure you are aware of the problem regarding the issue with Alexa compatible Sonos Speakers not responding to commands via the Alexa Sonos Skill App.I have 2 Beams and a One. All three speakers were working perfectly with Alexa until approximately one week ago, and now they aren't. There is absolutely no response from any of the speakers or Alexa once a command has been given. I have been through the processes suggested on line and wasted a significant amount of my own time trying to rectify what appears to be a problem with Sonos or the Alexa Skill App, however the problen still remains. I spent a lot of money on these speakers as one of the main requirements I wanted was connectivity with the speakers and Alexa thus enabling me to control my other smart devices such as lights,  plugs etc. This has been going on now for around a week. Can you provide information to the Sonos community as to what is being done to rectify this problem.RegardsTom

Normally I would think Alexa on the Arc would be a cool feature, but unfortunately it’s driving us crazy!!  The microphone on my Sonos arc can pick up a whisper across the house. We have an open floor plan and an Alexa speaker in the kitchen, but when we are in the kitchen and ask it a question or to play music or NPR, we get an answer from the Family Room Arc. Usually along the lines of “I don’t have that functionality“.  Since we are speaking to the kitchen echo, I don’t want the Arc responding. We have the same problem when we ask Alexa to turn on the kitchen lights. [Upstairs, where we have echoes in every room, and even in the thermostat, we have no problem requesting a light be turned on or off.] But on our main floor when we request the kitchen lights be turned on, they flash on and off as the two devices respond simultaneously. That’s probably TMI. Regardless, we need to turn off Alexa in our Sonos Arc. Any help or directions in accomplishing

Hello all,Alexa on my beam was working perfectly then just stopped one day. I've tried all the basics restart routers, turned off/on the beam, deregiatered it from Alexa app still no luck.The Alexa app shows the beam offline and I can't solve this.The speaker works fine with my TV audio and through the Sonos app for Spotify etc but any Alexa functions no joy.Any suggestions? Thanks

Hi all, I have been digging into the forums here and on the web in general, and cant find a solution to this.  My Sonos One stopped responding to voice commands today.  I have tried all solutions that I could find, including deregistering & re-registering, unplugging,  rebooting my router, standing on my head while facing east…  well you get the idea.  Can anyone please help??? 

Just purchased Sonos 5 previously had a play 5 which if I asked Alexa on arc to play music in kitchen it would do this does not happen on new 5 Alexa does say playing music in kitchen but no audio thank you

Hi.I've had this Sonos 1 Alexa brand new for 4 years without any problems, until recently.Firstly...I couldn’t get it to stay on, and wouldn't answer my instructions.I Googled for help, and e]eventually managed to factory reset it.But now in the app it states “select your product” then when “searching for nearby products” it will not find it.I’ve tried closer to it, still not recognised, (still searching I guess.)Has it broken down completely, or can I try something else please?any help gratefully received.Thank you.Bob

Alexa and Amazon music had been working on my system but now it has stopped working. Alexa will acknowledge the request and confirm the song choice but the song will not play. As a work around I tried to use Sonos voice assistant instead and Amazon music isn’t available as a music service in the Sonos app. Also another issue is that my Sonos move isn’t showing in the Sonos app, only my Beam and surrounds (Sonos one so x 2). The app is very poor and extremely slow for what was once a quality product.

I found this post from years ago saying that “the room name requirement will go away at some point.” I still need to specify the room name just to turn off the lights in the same room which gets old fast. Is there a solution to this? I got bounced around between Sonos and Amazon support today with no real answer on what the issue is.

I have had a Sone One using Alexa for a couple of years.  I have now bought a Beam to add to my network.  That has all connected to Sonos and my TV now.  I tried to get the Beam added to my Alexa account last night.  It goes through process through logging in to my Amazon account and choosing a language (English) but then fails with “Something has gone wrong”!Anyone have any thoughts? 

I’ve recently reset my Sonos One speaker and everything is ok except when I now ask for my News Flash Briefing using the Alexa voice command it replies ‘getting your flash briefing’ and then follows it up with ‘sorry this update is not available’. It repeats that four times as my briefing is set up for Sky News, Sport, Business and then the weather update. My skills are enabled. 

We use Amazon Music as our chosen streaming service on a variety of Sonos speakers. We use both because we love the sound of high quality music and HD/UHD/Dolby Atmos played through Sonos speakers is fantastic.Unfortunately, when music is requested through Alexa or the Amazon Music, it is only ever played in SD format, which is no comparison when played on a Dolby Atmos compatible Sonos speaker. Seems a bit strange Sonos can integrate Alexa but doesn't make the most of high quality audio.I know we could ask Sonos Voice Control instead but that regularly doesn't find the song we want as easily as Alexa does.Is there any indication if Sonos and Amazon Music are working together to fix this so we get the best quality audio streamed via Alexa?

Hi there!Treated ourselves to a new Sonos Era 100 for Xmas and have been experiencing a frustrating issue with Alexa Voice Assistant as follows:Issue the wake up call ‘Alexa...’ and intermittently she will function as expected Every now and then she wakes up, performs the task all OK However randomly she will not let me respond and instead returns to the resting state I can’t replicate this behaviour using the Sonos Voice Control only with the Alexa Voice Assistant, so can only assume this issue is specific to Alexa & Sonos and is not a hardware issue..Also to confirm I have Amazon Echo products in the house working 100% fine with Alexa.I have a video recording of the issue here:Any ideas please?

I have two new Era100s and am having the same problem on both. I have never had this issue on my Sonos Ones. Alexa is enabled on the speakers. When you say the command word, the Alexa chime plays so that should mean it's listening, but we only get a response around 25% of the time. This happens when the room is totally silent as well as when there is background noise. I have noticed the music already playing doesn't quieten when Alexa is listening, as it does with the Sonos Ones, so I wonder if the voice assistant can't pick up what we are saying. Tried all the deregister/disable skill/reset fixes I can find, and moved speakers to different positions, and there's been no change. Any ideas anyone?

I've got Alexa on my Sonos speakers. All of a sudden, Alexa will listen (speaker volume lowers), the light will flash, but there's no action on simple things such as "volume down" and "stop". Everything used to work fine for a year, but now nothing.I've tried all the usual, remove Alexa, re-add, re-install skills, reboot speakers... Again, this happened all of a sudden, without me changing anything.

I’ve had a Beam (Gen 1) installed for a few years, using my Amazon/Alexa account to control devices in my living room. It’s worked flawlessly, until a few weeks ago.Alexa itself works fine - I can ask questions, interact with the service etc, but I cannot control any of my smart devices. After puzzling on this for a few days, I stumbled on the issue: the Sonos device is using the wrong Amazon account, one belonging to my daughter. The smart devices shouldn’t exist in her profile, but I don’t get any “errors” - just the little chime after issuing a command that suggests it’s worked as normal. I have other Amazon Echo devices in my home, and they’re working fine: for example, asking my Echo:switch on plug 1.. switches on plug 1. Trying the same with the Sonos gives the chime, but plug 1 doesn’t do anything (given that the other account doesn’t know about “plug 1”, I’m surprised it doesn’t say something along the lines of “I don’t know about
