Advanced setups

I have an office and home that are configured with unique house codes (Sonos ID), both configured as “Sonos Net” wireless, not WiFi (using Boost). With my Move I have it configured for my home Sonos system, so when I take it to my office, I cannot access it via Sonos app unless I factory reset the Move and then join it to the office Sonos system. I am aware that with WiFi direct setups, the Move can store multiple WiFi network credentials. (Ex. Taking the Move to your friends house temporarily). Can the Move also be linked/store multiple house codes / Sonos ID’s to streamline my situation and support being taken between multiple Sonos Net households?

I am asking on behalf of my Grandfather who got a Sonos Beam and Sonos One speaker for his new condo. My grandmother has hearing issues so the intention was to try to mirror the output from the beam speaker (mixed to mono I guess) to the Sonos One speaker next to her chair, this would help her personally hear without having to turn up the main sound too much for everyone else in the room. It seems that this is not possible based on the settings I looked though. If I try to set it up as a satellite speaker it requires two speakers and then would be set up to play the surround sounds rather than the center channel (which would be more useful). I then tried to group the speakers together but the S2 app said I have to have 3 rooms set up just to create a group. I don’t remember this restriction when I set up my parents system and so I am very confused why I cannot just have my two speakers play the same sounds. Is there a way to set up this mirror

Hello.  I’ve got an issue with Move - If I commence playback when all players are grouped together, it will not playback on my Move, but will play on all non Move speakers in the group If I commence playback on the Move, and then add all other players to that group, then all will play the source music as normal The non Move players (three of them) are all on a Sonosnet Boost wired connection.  The Move is on 2G wi-fi (not using an extender) Anyone else having this issue, and an/or any suggestions for a remedy? Hi, I’m a big Sonos fan and have invested quite a bit over the past few years. I just purchased by 14th Sonos speaker, a Move, to join my existing setup consisting of various: Play:1, Sonos One, Play:3, Beam and Connect:AMP (gen 2) devices. All of my existing devices were running on Sonosnet, firstly with a Sonos BOOST, but more recently with the Beam being wired and the root of the Sonosnet. That change (removing the BOOST) was just to simplify as I really didn’t need it.   I tried moving everything onto WiFi a few weeks ago, but it was terrible. Speakers kept dropping out, changes to songs (like skipping forward) or volume changes were laggy, the app UI kept restarting, then stopped showing me all my speakers (even ones that were playing) and took minutes to update them back into the app. It was terrible. I put this down to having a 4-node “mesh” WiFi system. I have a wired backhaul on those APs, so not strictly “mesh”, but they do support steering, 802.11v, etc. t

I was thinking of replacing my AMP with the Sonos AMP to get access to all the easy streaming.  My setup so far is an iPad used for stream via AUX cable to the current AMP, the TV connected and a turntable.  As the AMP covers all of this the only thing left is the EQ.  Shouldn’t it be possible to just “manually” set the digital EQ of the Sonos AMP to a level that the Bose would sound like if played through their own EQ? If so does anyone have experience with this?  I have no Idea how to actually KNOW when my settings “sound right”. Is there some method to this that I can follow? Just using my ears might heavily depend on the song i currently listen to. Maybe that’s also an Idea, some suggestions which songs i should check out (due to high pitches, deep basses, ...)  I know using the active EQ from the Bose Series 2 is not possible (except if i just use it for the turntable^^)  I’Ve also got a Magnat Quantum Sub

I want to connect my playbar to my new Samsung TV. The TV has optical (1) and hdmi arc (1) outputs. My hearing aid also needs an optical connection for Bluetooth. Have tried an optical splitter, which allows both the hearing aid and playbar to work, but this has caused the tv remote to no longer control the playbar sound. Is there an adapter that will allow the playbar optical to connect to the TV hdmi arc?

I've got a new Sonos Arc 5.1.2 setup, with the arc connected to an LG CX tv via the eArc hdmi (tv set to passthrough). So far it's been working well - the built in apps do 5.1 and Atmos and my ps4 gets 5.1 as I had expected. (and I'm looking forward to the Sonos Arc update to get more than stereo out of the Nintendo Switch). My problem is with being unable to get my Windows 10 laptop to recognise that I have a 5.1 setup (let alone Atmos). I'm hoping this is a solvable problem - if the old ps4 can figure it out, surely I should be able to get the pc to as well (even if it requires a bit of tinkering)?  The laptop is running an nvidia 1070 - also attached via hdmi to the tv. Sound driver is Nvidia HD Audio. Latest updates and drivers. Currently windows sound settings is reporting only stereo speakers. 5.1 appears disabled in the list and cannot be selected. I installed Dolby Access to get Dolby Atmos for Home Theater but that did not work (i suspect I need to resolve t

I HAVE reset the system removed old product's and sold the two items.  Now the new owner cannot connect because it says ownership is not transferred????  Does anyone have ideas??  Clearly the boffins who designed this system do not!

Hi I have a setup where I use a HDMI receiver for all video input and pass through to speakers (wired) and projector (HDMI).    I recently purchased an ARC and want to replace my speakers with that as output.    To do this I would need to split the out HDMI from the receiver to send video to the projector and audio to the ARC.    What are my options. Needless to say I would want to retain full HDMI capabilities for the audio. 

I purchased a play 5 for part. Turns out it’s recycled but the speakers work just fine. I understand the need to brick the software component of the speaker but is there any reason this can’t be used as a plain old “dumb speaker?” Seems like a total waste to make the speaker completely non functional.

I would love to get an ARC and connect it to my TV via HDMI….BUT in addition, I would like to connect my CD player to the ARC. Can I do that using the OPTICAL connection on the ARC? If not, what is the simplest way to connect a CD player to the Sonos wireless speaker world. I don’t have any wired speakers, so the AMP is not really needed for me.

I have a Linksys mesh wirless system.  If I connect one of my Sonos speakers to one of the mesh pods, will this create a more reliable Sonos system? 

I have set up a S1 and S2 network at home. I had a question so I called Sonos phone Tech support and they solved it. During the call I asked a second question and they answered. I hung up and tried their solution to Q2. However, I can’t get it to work and don’t have 30-60 min to wait on hold to talk to live person again. Community please help.   Here is what I was told by Sonos Tech Phone Rep.  I CAN attached my Gen 2 Play 5 to both my S1 and S2 networks. Then in my S1 network I can GROUP my Play5 (S1 and S2) with my legacy Connect (S1).  Now close S1 and open S2. Now when I stream something via S2 to the Play5 the old Connect will get the same stream.  This sounds great and solves a set up problems. But this was just a discussion with Sonos Tech. We did not discuss how to pair one item to two networks.   After the call, I was confident I would just use “add product” button in S1 to add my Play5 gen 2 back to the old S1 network. Play5 is already on S2 network. PROBLE

Can I connect the output of either a guitar Amp effect loop or the output of a guitar pedal to the Sonos Port (or some other Sonos product) and hear my guitar on the Sonos speakers? Are there other pieces of equipment that could do this?

I recently saw that Sonos has an optical to HDMI adapter model number OPADPWW1BLK (to pass the audio to their devices expecting an HDMI input). I have an application where I want to use the optical output from my TV as an optical input into my Denon amplifier. Trouble is I only have an HDMI cable available to send the signal. Does anyone know if I can use one Sonos optical to hdmi adapter on each end of a 25 foot HDMI (ARC Capable) cable to transmit the digital signal? 

Hi all,   We are wanting to configure a pair of Sonos Five speakers in stereo in our bedroom. We have Ethernet ports on the wall in the bedroom, which is fortunate as the room is the furthest from the WiFi router, but I wonder how the stereo pair of speakers would be configured. I’m guessing we would we need to run an Ethernet cable to each speaker, but is there a more elegant method, i.e. Ethernet to one speaker, and then a cable between left and right? Presumably we might even be able to wire one speaker, and have the other connect to that speaker wirelessly?   We’d prefer to keep the network fully wired to avoid any WiFi inconsistencies, but haven’t seen much guidance on how to setup a wired stereo pair. Maybe I’m searching for the wrong terms.   Does anyone have experience of this sort of setup?   Thanks in advance.

Looking to purchase an Arc but have a good 3rd party subwoofer with my existing system. Rather than buying a Sonos Sub, wondering if I can purchase a Sonos Connect:Amp and connect the subwoofer to that and create a grouped system?

I have a CD, turnable, and tape deck connected to a Marantz NR1506.  I was thinking about getting a Port to accomplish two things, Keep an existing set of speakers connected to the receiver. Essentially using the receiver as a giant switch to be able to stream CDs, vinyl, and tapes to the rest of the house.  I believe running the Marantz PRE OUT to the Port IN should give me a line level. Using the Port to stream audio from elsewhere to the Marantz.  I believe running the Port OUT to a Marantz input should give me that.   This is a pretty weird (?) setup and was wondering if there were potential issues.     Thanks!

There seem to be a lot of threads and conflicting pieces of information out there and looking to share what I know and get input from others.  For convention. Arc refers to the Sonos device and ARC to the protocol (they couldn’t have picked a more confusion name).  My TV is a Samsung Series 6. Nothing too fancy but a great device and has ARC but not eARC. I know there are many out there with similar setups.  I have an ATV 4K going —> HDMI 1 on the TV. I have the TV ARC going —> Sonos Arc.  With just the one input on the Arc I don’t see any other way to configure this.  I have the full UHD subscription in Netflix. I’ve tried a few films that I’m told have Atmos but I don’t see that showing in the Sonos app.  I’ve been told by some experts that ATV 4K can’t send this info (regardless if it’s Netflix or any other source) over ARC to the next device. As such, basically I can not expect any Atmos with my setup.  I’ve also read

Hi guys! I have a question that I couldn’t figure out searching the web or reading the manual. Would appreciate any help.   In short I’m wondering if I can use the Sonos Amp as just a power amp. The use case would be to hookup the Sonos Amp to my turntable and put a tube preamp in between the two. Have a wonderful PrimaLuna preamp that I’d like to continue using.   To my knowledge it has mostly been possible to bypass the preamp in integrated amplifiers. Might even be quite common practice to use a integrated amp as just a power amp. Can this be done with the Sonos Amp?

I’m a long time Playbar and Playbase user, but now I’m moving to the Arc, which means I’m moving away from optical cables. Unfortunately, I have an LG OLED, and as many know, this means I have to bypass my TV’s ARC because LGs have a problem processing DD from certain devices (like Xbox and Playstation) without considerable lag.  Bypassing this with optical is easy because I can just use a HDMI hub/switch that converts to optical.  That’s no longer an option, since optical can’t handle Atmos. To make matters worse, standard HDMI splitters do not work with the Beam or Arc because they require a signal specifically from ARC, and no splitters in the market can take regular HDMI, extract and turn into ARC. So...this has led to me considering buying an AV receiver, plugging my inputs in there and using the AV’s HDMI ARC out to the Beam.  Has anyone had any success with this type of setup?

I’ve set up a s2 system with a Boost on my LAN and this works. I wish to set up a separate S1 system for a Gen 1 Play 5 with a Bridge on the same LAN however this is proving difficult. Is it possible to have two separate S1 and S2 systems on the same LAN both using sonosnet, one via a Boost and one via a Bridge?

I have Sonos set up through the house, various ones, a connect hooked up to an AV reciever and a Sonos amp in the dining room driving a pair of Tannoy DC6T SE floorstanding speakers. Im having problem with the sound from the amp. Im getting clarity in the mids and highs, however the bass response is dissapointing. It sounds muddy with no definition at all. Certain low frequencies override others and seem to be clashing. I replaced the amp with the AV receiver and it sounds good. When moving the sonos amp to drive a set of kefs in the living room im getting the same problem, lack of clarity in bass and an overall disappointing sound.   The DC6T SEs are wired using 4 core cable, 4 wires from each output on the sonos amp to LF terminals and HF terminals on each speaker. I am streaming tidal, deezer and spotify from the Sonos app, and have also tried using an external dac into the line in using audirvana on mac. No luck on anything. Ive played with the EQ

Once I installed Eero in my house, I found that various Sonos devices would routinely drop off / disappear from the Sonos app. Sonos support explained that adding Eero essentially created dual wireless networks running in my house (Xfinity modem publishing it’s wifi signal, and Eero creating it’s mesh network) and this created conflicts that confused the Sonos network/devices. They suggested I put the Xfinity modem into “bridge mode” which turns off the modem’s internal wifi and just passes through the bandwidth to the Eero gateway connected to it. Once I did this, I was able to go back and reset all the Sonos devices and the Sonos solution has been working well. This is good. However, the downside to this solution is that once the Xfinity modem is in bridge mode, it’s no longer possible to use the Xfinity mobile app with it, or to watch Xfinity content on computers, etc. So my question to this group: has anyone found another solution to getting Xfinity-Eero-Sonos to work together w

I have 2 Sonos AMP - hardwired to Asus mesh router model RT-AX92U.  Note, it is not wired to the primary DHCP handler but to the mesh which is wifi connected. Bandwidth is no issue, fiber with 1 gig up and down.  Connection between the mesh and primary router is strong.  Network traffic is low, channels / interference not a problem. Problem - the Sonos Moves drop in and out randomly, regardless of sound source.  I imagine it is their relationship with that mesh router, but out of ideas what to do.  All Sonos and router firmware is current.  I thought of assigning them static IP but if they are dropping off the router then that won’t help. Thoughts?
