Advanced setups

Hi,I’ve two groups of Sonos Gear: Arc Ultra + Era 300s + Sub Gen 3, and a Arc + OneSLsThey are all sitting on a 2.4ghz network, in a separate vlan than the main network (ubiquiti gear)The older gear (Arc, OneSL) show up for Airplay, and I can connect to them fine.The newer gear (Ultra, 300s) show up for Airplay, but I cannot cast to them unless i’m on the same vlan.I saw other posts regarding the Era 100s, and that it seems to be a Sonos issue and how it respons to the request for an Airplay connection.The response I had from Sonos support was “your configuration is unsupported”. Has anyone heard anything different, or found any solution to this?

Hi I have 800TB of AIFF hi-res song files on a 1.5gb microSD for my JM21 DAP portable player. I have a Sonos Amp in wiring closet driving my outdoor speakers, and a Sonos PORT being driven by my turntable. Both port/amp connected via Ethernet to home network Would love to serve up the AIFF files via AMP or Port in highest quality possible, and take advantage of AMP or Port's DAC. What would be best setup for this, the 800tb of files can live anywhere I'm not tied to MicroSD Also open to Raspberry PI setup for NAS if needed Lastly would love to control library via Sonos app, sounds like I can via SMB share, just isn't clear to me if this would run through DAC on AMP or PORT before going to rest of Sonos speakers .. also assume NAS connects directly into back of Port or AMP in 2nd Ethernet port? 

Alright… I hope someone can help me with the following question because so far I couldn't find a clear answer.My current setup: Beam + 2 x One SL + SubThe Beam is connected to the TV and ethernet and the rest of the setup is connected to the Beam through the wireless Sonos system.Currently I'm looking for a vinyl player and would like to buy the Pro-Ject Debut Carbon Turntable (Sonos Edition).I'm thinking I could buy the Sonos Port and connect the Port to my setup through the Beam using the wireless Sonos system. The vinyl player is also connected to the Port (wired) and this way I can use vinyl with my setup. Is this thought process correct? If this works, will it use the whole setup or only the Beam?

Hi ...I have an Audrino set up to play music from my wall box by connecting it via a ribbon cable from the digital keypad. At the moment it works fine but it is only connected to a set of pc speakers through the audrino output using a 3.5mm jack plug … I have a small spare Acer pc that will fit into the wall box easily … the PC has a 3.5mm jack for microphone and also for head phones.. Is it possible to connect the audrino using a 3.5mm cable to the PC, then use the Wifi on the PC to connect to the WIFI on my Sonos system 

It’s obvious that SONOS doesn’t has the awareness let alone the knowledge / experience to understand that home and business networks are increasingly more complex and thus are on a rapid pace to make themselves irrelevant in the market.  Privately, professionally and for my clients we’re no longer recommending Sonos. Not until segmented VLANS are supported via an advanced configuration option. There is NO technical excuse why this couldn’t / shouldn’t be made to work.

Hi all,I have several VLANs in my network. Sonos (both a system on S1 and a system on S2) is setup with my IoT VLAN and the controllers (phones etc) are generally in the main secure LAN. I used this link to configure all the ports so that the Sonos devices in the IoT VLAN can talk to the controllers in the main LAN. For the S2 system this works flawless, but unfortunately not for the S1 system. Spotify connect does work for the S1 system with a controller in the main LAN, so this makes me think that the S1 app probably needs different ports that the S2 app. Is this assumption correct and does anyone know which ports to use then? Thanks!

Since the recent update I can not see my SONOS system. My Pllaybase and SONOS One surround  speakers work but I have no app control anymore. I have tried all of he normal things I have had SONOS since mid 2000s so som experience. Any ideas on how I get it all working again?

I bought an Era 100 about 18 months ago for use in a small flat. It’s an old building and we’re on the top floor so the only WiFi option is a mobile dongle-type device (basically a 4g sim). It works fine though and worked for 12 months with the Era 100…. then nothing at all. After a couple of hours wait time (I gave up several times!) I finally spoke to customer support today to be told that mobile networks like this are not supported any more. So, I now have a redundant Era 100… what a waste! Sonos, how do I get my money back? You have moved the goalposts and the product that worked when I bought it is now useless. Has anyone else had the same issue? Is there a solution?

Need some help with a networking issue. I have several Amps and speakers throughout the house, Amps and one Play 5 are hardwired. I'd love to hardwire my Arc that's paired with (2) Play 5s and a Sub in my Family Room as I experience cutouts at times. I added a 5-port switch behind the TV and hardwired the TV and Arc but immediately noticed it throttled every device to <5mbps. Immediately after unplugging the Arc, everything went back to normal. All my ports feeding Sonos devices have STP/CIST configured properly. Would configuring the port feeding the 5-port switch fix this while not causing issues for the non-Sonos devices?

I have a Ubiquity Unifi network with a separate VLAN for my Sonos speakers. They all work perfectly fine (set on SonosNet) + a Roam on WiFi, except for the Era 100 (which is connected to ethernet with the Sonos Combo Adapter). I am unable to connect any device via AirPlay. When I move the Era back into LAN (same VLAN as other devices) it works instantly.

I have looked at the various answers in the forum and none resolve the inability to amend alarm times or set new ones. I will need a new system as I need an alarm and am realising SONOS has lost the art of innovation. 

Hi,I currently have a fairly comprehensive Sonos-based sound system in my apartment with about 6 different speakered rooms. In my living room alongside my Sonos arc and surround Ones, I have an old Zenith record player console. I use it to play old records and occasionally listen to the radio. I believe its possible to wire the console into my Sonos system in such a way that I can play my records throughout the house and use the console as a speaker for spotify streams etc. by using the “Tape” output setting and connecting RCA cables to the sockets on the back of the player, but I’m looking for some guidance on doing this in case there are any drawbacks or potential pitfalls. There is also another “external speaker” output on the back which I’m not sure about. I don’t currently own a Sonos Amp or Port (I’m not sure which I’d need) so I’d want to make sure it would work before I tried one. Alternatively if there was a way to do this that didn’t cost $700 that wo

I have a Samsung Serif with audio being output via HDMI eARC to a mic mixer. The mixer can take HDMI input and can output HDMI or optical. The SONOS Ray only takes optical input so my current attempt at a karaoke setup is Serif → Mic Mixer via HDMI eARC → SONOS Ray via optical output. This isn’t working and I’m not sure why. This setup worked perfectly with my $70 Onn soundbar.

Ive had an Arc, Gen 3 Sub and a pair of Ones as my rear for surround.  I recently bought a pair of era 100’s to add as fronts (thus finally have living room surrounded all around), but they’re adding separately as stereo and don’t play with the existing setup.  Apparently I’m a moron with this App. Do I need to delete my setup and start over with all speakers??

Hi allI need expert advice for improving my existing setup.Today, I own: 1 playbar, 1 sub, 2 sonos play:1. I also have a ProJect turntable.I just swapped my TV for a projector. The projector gets the signal from the TV set top box (decoder) (connected in HDMI). Both the projector and the decoder are far away from the wall where the audio has to be.Both the decoder and the video projector have bluetooth connectivity. I am ready to invest some money (not too much) to upgrade my system. So - With the new Sonos App Release in Spring 2024 there has been a number of challenges.   The most recent one for those of us that have used Sonos as a source for a Crestron controlled Home automation.  Discontinuation Notice: Sonos® App Support on Crestron Touch Panels- Update January 9th, 2025 - Crestron has discontinued the use of the Sono’s app in it’s panels - (This is due to the updated Sonos App and no warning to its partner Crestron that it would not work back in spring 2024) https://community.crestron.com/s/article/2986 So… having said that - Lots of expensive home systems (Thousands… 20K,30K+ systems) do not have a functional source solution -  Thanks Sonos!   My customers love me now! Any installers or users that have found a work around or another solutions?     I will not be recommending Sonos to customers now - h

I have 2 internet providers coming into my house - SKY and AIRBAND. Most of my Sonos components are wired via Ethernet to the Airband router. The WiFi on both routers are on.  The IOS controller shows all components whether I am connected to the Sky or Airband WiFi but the list of services won’t load and I can’t control the music/volume.In the app the Sky WiFi is shown under manage my network - if I try and delete it it reappears after a few seconds. Any advise on how to set this up correctly? I would like Sonos wired for reliability but if I turned off Airband WiFi could I use Sky WiFi to control the system if it’s wired into the Airband router? Most of the units are close together except for a couple.   

What channel is best to use to lower interference from other WiFi products? I use a google fiber modem and service and how do I go through this process of switching my Sonos system to a different channel? Thank you 🙏 

This post applies mainly to ASUS routers that incorporate AiMesh setup; but may be applicable to other brands. I have three (3) Asus ZenWiFi Pro ET12 WiFi 6 routers configured in AiMesh via wired backhaul.I’ve seen posts indicating that WiFi 6 and WiFi 7 routers lend connectivity issues with Sonos. It’s been recommended to disable the WiFi 6 or WiFi 7 bands. As you can see from the screenshot below I have all three (3) bands active. So I had to replace my network switch as it failed. I have 4 Sonos Connect devices (one Connect Amp and 3 Connects). Historically I had one connected to the Switch and then the other 3 daisy chained via cat5 cables. All was well.  Now my system “isn’t found” on the network. After trying a bunch of things I decided to hard reset each device (pressing mute/volume up button when powering on until orange light flashes and eventually solid green). I then reset my app and started from scratch with just one device at a time. However it is still unable to find my device.  I can see on my Router that the Connect Amp has an IP address so know it is connected.  But adding a device via the app and going through the “power on” just keeps saying no device found.  Any ideas?
