What to get

I was looking on Best Buy's website at http://www.bestbuy.com/site/sonos-systems/connect-your-existing-sonos-equipment/pcmcat748300465606.c?id=pcmcat748300465606 and noticed that there are 2 different Subs listed - a Black/Black (Model SUBG1US1BLK) and Black/Silver (Model SUBGBUS1). It appears from the Best Buy spec sheets that there may be some differences between the two models, but wanted to see if there was actually any difference between the two (aside from one having silver, and the other being black)? Hello, I am a "newbie" with SONOS. I have not bought one but know I want to. I am not sure if I need the Connect or Connect:Amp? My situation is; I have a home with built in speakers (installed by the builder two years ago). I have a main "socket" on my second floor with an RCA and IR plugin for the speakers. I have 2 speakers on the first floor and basement and both floors have a control for power, volume, and source for the speakers. I am not sure what all of this means. Right now I play music over my computer but I can plug my iPod or smartphone in with the jack and play music. I want the ability to play music from my device anywhere but I don't know if I need the amp. Any suggestions? Thank you.

Currently, we have two Connects (for two zones). One is connected to 6 hardwired outdoor speakers through 3 Russound P75 Amps (one zone, but each set of outdoor speakers can be adjusted (on/off/volume) via each P75 Amp. Additionally, we have a second Connect that feeds into one Russound P75 Amp for 4 in ceiling family room speakers. Both Connects and all Amps are located in our family room inside our entertainment unit. We would like to expand the system to include one or two speakers to our living room, which does not have any hardwired speakers. My question: if we purchased one or two Play 5 speakers for this room, do we need a separate Connect Amp or would these speakers be able to create a separate zone? Second, we have a $500 Bluetooth Bose Bluetooth speaker that has excellent sound quality and an aux input. If we wanted to let we this in life of purchasing Sonos speakers, is it possible to simply buy a Connect to create a separate zone to play music through the Bose speaker using

I have a 4,200 sq foot house. Excellent router with zero dead spots in my home. My downstairs is all hardwood flooring. My living room I want to make surround sound. The living room and kitchen are essentially connect with no wall. 20ft by 40ft for the two combined my living room is 20ft by 20ft. I was thinking I should get a playbar, a sub, and 2 play ones for the surround sound effect in living room. I also want a play 1 in my dining room which is separate from my other rooms. Dining room is also hardwood with a large rug but the room is 15ft by 12ft. I also want a speaker I can take outside and put on a mount on my covered patio in my back yard. I was thinking a play 5 here or two play 3s. I don't have any backyard neighbors so sound isn't an issue but my budget is (aka my wife). Thoughts on if I am on the right track in my thinking of speaker size for the rooms and outdoor patio?

So, I am really wanting to get into Sonos, but have some concerns about how to best approach with my existing set up. I will lay out the scenario and ask for some input on what anyone feels is the best options for me. I have a large great room (about 40'x40') that currently has TV on fireplace, with center channel on mantle, SUB, 2 tower speakers and in ceiling surrounds. It works great for surround TV and also great for listing to music in the big room. All of my components are in the adjoining office (Pioneer Elite receiver, sat DVR, record player, apple TV) and input sourced through the Receiver with single HDMI to the TV. Its controlled with a Logitech IR remote. The scenario I want to end up with is good TV sound (not necessary to have surround here anymore, as I have it downstairs) plus ability to listen to music that sounds full in the big room. Hey, I want to connect a CD player with radio into a PLAY 5 2nd Gen (line-in)- which player to get?? Ideally would have bluetooth, should come without speakers, and amp function not needed as connecting to Sonos system. Does not have to be top tier machine. Thoughts? Thanks, Brian

I do not have room for a Playbar with my current TV setup and am considering using line in to connect my TV with a Play 5. Anyone have experience doing this? If so, how have you found the sound quality? Thanks.

Got a Bose 3.2.1 (i know, I know) from my previous life for my TV set. Home now is crowded with a Play5 in my living room, one PLAY1 shouting music in my kitchen, another here on my left in the bedroom, another one waking me up in the bathroom. Eager to add some more. Wife seems interested. How about a playbar and a sub for the TV? Would it make difference? Is there anyone who already did the very same jump? And, I was wondering... will the sub add some of its strength to the whole system? Being the low frequencies almost ubiquitous, it could add the "kick' to more than just the playbar? Maybe. Hi, earlier in the year I bought a Sonos PlayBar to go with my new new Panasonic TV. I was thinking of adding a couple of Play:1's as rear speakers but have a couple of questions. My PlayBar is connected to the router via Ethernet cable and to the TV using the optical connection. - The manual for the TV states the optical connection supports Dolby Digital so will the Play:1's work properly in that setup? - The I am assuming that the Play:1's will connect fine to the network, i.e. I do not need any additional kit like the CONNECT. I may get a SUB at a latter date but my lounge is not massive so I am not sure I need the SUB right now. Thanks Andy

Are there any wireless in-ceiling speakers that are compatible with Sonos? Getting power up to my ceiling is easy enough, but having wires run all the way down a wall to a bridge will be a big project that I'd like to avoid. Or, if it's ok with this forum, any non-Sonos alternatives that might help with my situation? I'd ideally like to have in-ceiling speakers all over my house connected to a single system via my Wi-Fi network or similar, without having them all physically wired together.

I plan on mounting a TV in the open space family area, I already have two in-ceiling speakers that I would like to work in conjunction with the TV. Hello, Im moving into my own appartment into a few weeks and I wanted to buy something to play my music around my room. I have only two rooms from which one is my bedroom, so im interested in the Play:1 or maybe the Play:3. Now there is a problem I encountered while doing some research on these speakers. Obviously the best way to play my music on these speakers is by using my phone as controller, but im using a Nokia which has Windows Phone on it. I found out that there is no Sonos app for the Windows Phone. Is it worth buying a Sonos speaker when I cant use my phone as controller? Or should I just look further to some other brand, maybe one which uses bluetooth instead of wifi? Thanks in advance. Bart

We enjoy 5 PLAY:1 speakers (and a Bridge) in our multi-story large home, but we'd like to consider a Sonos setup to play "background music" for our small business. Details: 1. The business is in 3 buildings grouped quite close together. The greatest distance between the router and the speakers placed in building farthest away would be 80-100 feet. 2. The building where the router is located is the largest, a single room about the size of a 3-car garage. Probably 4 mono speakers here would be appropriate. 3. The next closest building to the router, where its single speaker would be about 50-60 feet from the router int he largest building, could easily be covered by 1 mono speaker. Hi, our ground floor is very open, about 10 m (32 ft) wide and 13.5 m (44 ft) deep. The main part of the living room is about 5 m (16 ft) deep and 10 m (32 ft) wide (it forms the end of the ground floor). Mostly open space, the kitchen and hallway are adjacent. I now have 2x Play 1 and 1x Sub in test and I am already quite impressed by the sound. We currently have a Sonos Connect that is connected to our paging system speakers, we have a couple of areas that don't have speakers setup and we would like to place individual Sonos 1's or the like in these areas, but have them grouped with the current third party speakers. Is this possible with the Connect? I'm not concerned about these new Sonos speakers working with the paging announcements, just whether the Connect can have both third party and Sonos devices controlled through it, playing the same music, at the same time. Hopefully that makes sense. Can anyone confirm this for me before I attempt it?

Hey, I got turned on to Sonos a few years back when I went to a couple of parties and they simply ended up being a Sonos party; you know the ones where you take turns in putting a single song and your life thereafter is judged by everyone on the single song you chose! (I still claim that Starship are an awesome group!) Currently I have a single Play 1 (no idea on what generation) which sits in the dining room and will either play there at parties in the winter or will get moved into the garden (though range is an issue) in the summer. Whilst it is suitable for the smaller rooms I do want to build on it. I also have an older (and at the time expensive) separates AV/HiFI home cinema setup that I do not really use. The general idea was to purchase a Play 3 for the dining/garden rooms (ie for the parties) and another Play 1 and a sub for a 2 x play 1 + Sub. hi, i'm moving into a new house that used to have a sonos set up. The wiring was attached to two zp80's as such... 1 speaker in two separate bathrooms attached to one zp80 and 1 speaker in the kitchen attached to another, which was subsequently fed into an amp (I believe) The amp and two zp80's have been removed leaving three speakers and the wiring. I think I would like to have two zone's (bathrooms and kitchen) and was wandering what the best way to approach this is. I am new to sonos so unsure how to go about this. Thanks in advance rich

I'm looking to begin my foray into sonos speakers. I am going to be purchasing the playbar soon and a new television. I have narrowed it down to these 3 options: Sony Bravia 55XD7005 Samsung UE55KU6400 LG 55UH661V I presume the Sony will function okay as its Sony? I know that the playbar works with an optical connection will the other two tv's be able to handle it ok without any issues? Cheers.

After getting used to the sonos set-up at work it's made me want to get it installed at home, but not wanting to spend a shed load!! Am I right in thinking all I need are the speakers I want and connecting them to my home WiFi? Or is it worth getting a bridge to keep away from home network? I was thinking for one of the larger speakers for the living dining room set in the middle and if they supply them a ceiling speaker for the kitchen and bathroom? Thanks for any help and advice? I set up Smart Bus Z audio Azaan module with Sonos connect amp via line in. I've noticed that it look normal while not on line in and play via mobile but it can become really hot while on line in and when track is playing which is almost 20 minute in length but volume lower than 50% it get extreme hot cant even touch it so plugged it off. Ii kept it on wooden cabinet which hanging on wall and alone in shelf without door. kindly give me suggestion what else i can do

I like what I've read about SONOS, but can't seem to figure out how to solve my situation. My use of the system would be more as a home theater as I will rarely be using for music alone. The real attraction is the wireless capability, and I really don't care much about streaming music. My current setup is an Onkyo AV receiver, ext. speakers + subwoofer. I tend to watch a lot of TV using a headphone, using the headphone jack on the AV receiver connected to a bluetooth transmitter. This is to avoid disturbing family, or while watching programs with lot of swear words / or when the kids are studying. This feature is a must, and as I understand, SONOS does not have a headphone out so I can't really do it on the standard setup. What are my options? Is there a way to connect SONOS to a AV receiver - for e.g. have all my sources connect to the AV receiver via HDMI (as I do now) and somehow get audio out to the playbar? I'm not very familiar with home theater setups but I just can't seem

I am interested in getting some Sonos equipment, but not necessarily the most expensive. I would like speakers in 3 rooms, and think 1 speaker in each would be fine. The options are a bit overwhelming, so would like input from those who have experience. Ideally, I would like to play one channel (from Calm) on all 3 simultaneously. I have a factory that I run a small crossfit style gym out of. I'm looking to upgrade my audio and like the look of the wireless speakers for the multi rooms, however I'm concious of the size of the main part of the gym. Would multiple of the bigger speakers suffice or do I need a commercial variety? Main gym area is around 200sqm and has a high roof.
